Posted in Forum: FashionI too am very disappointed HSN is not selling Slinky Brand clothes. I love this brand and miss them. I loved that most of their line was made in the US too. HSN should tell its loyal customers if they are carrying this line or not. I have not found another brand of clothing I love as much as this one. I do like Nina Leonard and DG2, but totally different styles. I have not been shopping as much on HSN since they discontinued not only this brand, but Liz Lange and Elysee skin care with no explanation. I’ll be looking to buy from other places as HSN doesn’t seem to be carrying much I like anymore nor will I shop on QVC.
People should have expected changes in HSN with vendors and prices when QVC purchased it.
HSN was competition and now it is a place for people to buy from in addition the Q.I still prefer the posting on the QVC boards compared to the HSN style.
i agree , i have been with HSN from the beginning..loved the clothes…since QVC came in and brought their ugly with them…this is it… where ARE the designers such as: LIZ LANGE . TIANA B. SERENA WILLIAMS ,V. CAMUTO. even IMAN…its all FRUMP and no style…WHAT HAPPENED…

Funny, my mom was a QVC junkie. Me, I always seemed to gravitate to HSN. I enjoyed watching the hosts almost from the time they began. I found their jewelry to be priced right and the clothing beautiful. Seldom, if ever did I return anything. QVC’s cooking shows were Ok and I liked the fact that they were able to make a few dishes in the studio. HSN in those days sold pots and pans and then after the takeover by Barry Diller it became a National Success. There were new vendors. Clothing line were brand names. Jewelry as well. The former owners were John Malone and Liberty Communications. However, he is once again the owner and subsequently the reason for the downfall again. As I said in a previous post, I think this was a hostile takeover. I’m seeing the signs that were in the past. Loss of customers, loss of vendors, basement styles, and the list goes on and on. I see often where management asks for our reviews, but, what happens to those reviews. I have never seen a response, so now why bother. The TSV I agree is questionable. Over a year ago I saw those same T-Shirts when we made a stop at one of the factory outlets when we headed North. I didn’t purchase them then, and I don’t think I will purchase one now. I won’t bore you with the price, suffice to say they were alot less expensive at the Outlet. I’m also kicking myself on a purse I purchased. It’s $30 less at one of the retail shops on line. And, oh yes, free shipping. I still think Malone purchased HSN, to make it a basement store or better yet, to close it down permanently so that QVC could rise again.
This is all QVC influence, which has always been the dowdy channel. I am 62 and agree I won’t wear anything on HSN, except some Marla Wynne pieces. The quality and style are awful now. By the way 70 is the new 50.
I love Slinky Brand. Loved the jacket and tank sets. I started out with original slinky and after years, they are still beautiful and in style. The newer chiffon and the “light weight” slinky is also nice.
If they’re gone, I’ll miss this line..
Maybe QVC or Shophq will pick up Slinky.

I have no idea how old you ladies are, but IMO classic never goes out of style and both HSN and QVC do sell some classic styles. You just can’t let those designers and hosts talk you into something you know is not your style and isn’t going to work. If nobody buys they will get the message.
The prices are exactly the same. I know because I have just about every item on Chico’s website by Marla in my closet. I backed off recently from her. I think the quality of her items have really reflected being made in China. So disappointing and as I said, she hasn’t really done much of anything new. She was once my all time favorite but as her clothes became more and more costly, I just felt the value wasn’t there and the styles are pretty much all the same. Flowy. Boxy. Covering everything with lots of material. I’ve just about given up on HSN and QVC. I’m really annoyed that every item has to have a spoke person. The ORIGINAL hosts on these shows handled it quite well and now everything has to be introduced and explained by the company’s spoke person. Shop around, Ladies. There are lots of other places to get good quality and good prices.
I agree with you 100% . HSN and QVC just aren’t worth my time or money anymore. I found the apparel becoming more and more flimsy and unflattering. Also more and more expensive. Susan Graver–QVC’s #1 “designer”, has been producing the same items over and over again in different colors, slightly different style but still all the same. Logo? Please. And where is my Linea by Louis del’Olio? He han’t been around in way too long. My personal favorite as well is Dennis Basso. I can always count on them to come through. I’d like to know what’s going on at these companies. I don’t even watch anymore because of the new hosts. Love the “oldies” but goodies but the new people: I just turn it off. It makes me rather sad.
I totally agree with you and I am 62. HSN used to bring in some very good designers that offered more stylish clothing. I rarely buy anything now that they are under the parent company of QVC and have on only QVC boring, no style clothing.

UGH I hate the Q-ish things we now see on HSN, like the silly choreography that the style models go through in the clothing shows, or their turning product shows into “personality” shows, like cooking or whatever with Shannon (are they making her into a personality doofus too, like David?) or beauty report with so-and-so, etc. etc. I fully expect them to start limiting shoe sizes so I will no longer have an option to by shoes at HSN. (Thank heaven for Zappos) …Q is so into just selling to the biggest profit point, which eliminates ages, sizes, other extremes. They are imposing their system on something I appreciated for NOT being QVC. IMO
Andrew’s products were the one thing I didn’t want them to touch. He is a very wealthy man, due to his good business sense which, although admittedly I envy a bit, I would not deny him, but it is the Q factor that makes me wonder about the changes you have mentioned, not my dear Andrew! But you may be right, it may be Andrew. Or it may be Q imposing their thing. Bottom line is that I agree with and share your frustration.
Posted in Forum: HSN TVI have had my HSN card for years and one perk was no charge for returns. No one mentioned they changed this policy. I was a regular customer for 25 years. Now I have to pay $7.50 to return a slinky outfit that is not my style. I’ll keep it and run errands in it w my coat on! I won’t buy anything from HSN again. Donna J Schweitzer

I blame QVC, the CRACKPOT Management overseeing the lousy product line up, super
s – l – o – w shipping, out-of-touch pricing not worthy of the junk offered for sale, romper room hosts flitting all over the set, the awful designers that make clothing slightly better than 7th graders in home ec and the overall militant style of holding your money hostage whilst you wait on a refund – the Q has dragged HSN to the abyss with it.I prefer the offerings of HSN even with it’s CONTINUED struggled to that of OLDHEAD – OUTTA TOUCH and irrelevant Q.
Sometimes the clothing looks as if it is ill fitting on the larger sized models. It probably has to do with the cut of the clothes. I see that a lot on QVC as well. Some styles are not meant for bigger busted gals like me.
Oh my gosh ladies, I just typed in to the web browser ‘where is Hal Rubenstein?’ and up popped your conversation! I couldn’t agree more with all you are saying I hardly buy anything at HSN anymore. Not only are the styles bad, the quality and fabrics are just, well not my cup of tea. Maybe the old CEO will start another place for us to find decent clothes at decent prices. I used to buy staples at QVC, but their stuff has gone down hill as well. Its been back to brick and mortar for me. I mean how many t shirts and polyester lounge pants can one person have? I want to try harder as I get older, not give up hmrph!
