Never really had an issue with Synchrony Bank until my husband and I did not receive our Lowes bill (also issued by Synchrony Bank) for May 2021. Unfortunately we had a lot going on (who doesn’t) in May and as we do not charge on the Lowes card every month (and always pay the amount we owe in full when we do), it slipped our minds. When we received the bill for June, we realized that we missed paying approximately $75 for the May bill because it was listed as overdue along with interest (under $3) and a past due fee in the amount of $29. My husband called Synchrony Bank and explained that it was an unintentional oversight on our part, that we received no bill for May, and that we have a history of always paying our bills on time (although we messed up this time). The Synchrony Rep waived the $29 fee (or so we thought). We sent in the entire payment plus the interest (under $3 for interest) less the fee. After they received the payment, Synchrony emailed my husband and told him that they were NOT waiving the $29 fee after all. Synchrony went back on their word. However, one good thing, at least my husband got the email promptly informing us that they wanted the $29 fee. I was able to mail Synchrony the $29 in time (before it began late). Yes, in essence, it is our responsibility to pay our bills on time, but I personally hate it when the Synchrony Rep agreed to waive the fee and then they decide NOT to honor their word. We paid the bill and the fee and the balance should be zero. My husband said that he will not be using the Lowes card again because of Synchrony’s behavior. I am looking at ALL of our cards and anything that is related to Synchrony will not be utilized. If we purchase anything from HSN, we will not be using the HSN card due to Synchrony’s behavior. I doubt it will make that big of a dent for Synchrony to notice. They will most likely survive without us, but, in turn, we will just fine without them.
Cancelling the card will not stop you from being responsible for the payment that is due on the 10th..The card is issued by Synchrony Bank and all they see is what is on the statement..What HSN does is not their concern.Just like,Kohls, JCPenny, Belks, etc..The card has the store name on the logo but thats all as far as payments,billings,etc.If the payment isn’t there on the 10th you will be charged a late fee.It would be best to make the payment and then let them issue you a refund if the card is closed.
Otherwise your credit score is going to take a hit for a late payment.
Posted in Forum: Customer ServiceI am completely furious!!! A few days ago I received an email telling my payment was past due. I immediately paid it online. Today I get the bill in the mail (bc they cancelled my paperless option) and I have a $27 late fee charge on a $7 past due amount! I called and the reps act so nonchalantly. They don’t give a if I cancelled or not. I told her I refused to pay that late fee and that I had just canceled and all she said was “okay, I’ll make on a note of it” WOW! WOW! I know I was not a big spender but I always paid my bill on time and most of the time in FULL. I have never been late and REALLY? REALLY? so . I know is my fault and no one else’s for being late. I just want to remind HSN Synchrony that they also made a mistake on removing e-billing and e-paying. I used to receive the bill through my email and through my bank’s billing payment system and was paid always.
Posted in Forum: HSN TVI purchase an item on HSN and used flex pay for 6months no interest. Ok fast forward paying my bill initially my flex payment was $23.32 cents Synchrony charged me $25.00 min payment, my assumption was that I’m payring over the flex payment so I’m cool. So I thought, I kept wondering why my bill was gettin higher every month so I inquired, well Sychrony tell me that if I’m not paying the balance in full every billing cycle I’m being charged a fee. So I’m saying I thought it was no interest free as long as you pay the flex payment every month, not so, if you don’t pay your remaining balance you will be charged a fee. Thes CC company know how to make money off of you. Flex pay in their mine doesn’t apply to them. So I ended having to pay them $109.30 when my flex pay balance was 46.44. So I say never use your HSN card for flex pay unless you plan on giving Sychrony Bank a cut.
The 12 month payment and Flex Pay work totally different.It can be very misleading.With the 12 month they bill the whole amount at time of purchase then you have 12 months to pay it off in full.Its a different payment than the regular bill so you have to specify the amount paid you want applied to that balance then the rest goes toward the regular bill.If you don’t pay the full amount in that 12 month time frame then you are billed interest,etc for the whole purchase.Amazon has this same option so its much easier to make sure your payments get applied as you want by doing it through your online account at the Synchrony Bank website.Without reading the fine print most would assume you are billed monthly for 12 months but its not that way.
Posted in Forum: Customer ServiceI purchased a $600+ item, put on 12 mo. VIP payment. Synchrony Bank billed the entire amount on the first bill. I called HSN and was told to call the bank. I called the bank # and used prompt to for VIP payment and the prompt sends you to HSN not the bank. HSN agent tells me system shows 12 mo VIP payment, transfer to bank, told use prompt #1….did…that’s their automated system, no way to reach an agent. Multiple calls back and forth. Finally reached an agent, told me “they don’t give a monthly payment amount, they bill the entire amount and when I make each payment, I NEED TO CALL THE BANK AND TELL THEM AMOUNT I AM PAYING AND HOW THEY SHOULD APPLY IT!!!” WHAT!!!!! I spoke with an HSN supervisor who took the complaint. Said they didn’t know this was how the bank was billing, but,she can’t contact them. It’s correct in HSN system – 12 month VIP She said, can I call the bank and set up a conference call between the 3 of us. WHAT THE….. So totally unacceptable, item being returned and have another item in transit also with 12 mo. VIP which I’m only opening to get the paperwork and send back. Will pay whats remaining on the bill and cancelling my HSN card.
Hi ChicagoShopper and welcome to Community. I find that sending an e-mail to customer service works well. It sure saves waiting time on the phone. Another way is to use the Customer Service Thread within Community for any questions or refunds. The Mods have been with HSN for quite a while and they are extremely helpful. Normally, if the item is being returned because you do not like it, or isn’t a good fit, you pay for the return shipping. If the item is broken, torn, etc., there is no charge for shipping. However, I am not sure of this new ownership and what they would normally do to satisfy the customer. Under the previous owner, Barry Diller, he would absorb the shipping costs if it was defective. They also changed this to no more than 5 or 6 returns for the year would get the free shipping. As far as the new bank goes, I have not had a problem with them. As long as you pay your bills on time you should not have any problems with interest. Another side of Synchrony is that they also do the charges for the TJX Companies (Homegoods, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, etc.). The bank, or any bank, for that matter, is only as good as their employees. Have a person on the other end of the line who doesn’t know the answer, is somewhat snippy, is not good for public relations and I can see why a customer would like to go elsewhere.
I also read that you would love to talk with the hosts especially when you have the product and you can attest to it. Seems most of the customers today are using Facebook to ask questions and to give information on the product. There is also a chat line and that number is shown on the computer on the live screen (or used to be). When you call in a customer service rep will ask certain questions and then will put you in a hold position for the host. In the old days, the customer service rep would ask if you wanted to speak to the host pertaining to your purchase of that item.
I hope this answers some of your concerns. Don’t be afraid to ask.

I have the same problem my payment was being sent by my bill pay service,and they Synchrony rejected the payment ,sent it back and then they told me I have to use a visa or mastercharge debit card as they do not accept american Express ok so now I have to pay a machine to withdraw funds than run to my local bank to put the funds on my other account than they can get paid …Well This is my last payment and untill HSN takes my account back I WILL NOT BUY. I’ve been trying for 2 days to pay my bill!!! When I go to the link I was provided when they changed to Synchrony bank, I only get a blank screen. Chat isn’t working, Customer Service closed. This is ridiculous!!!
Posted in Forum: Talk Among YourselvesSo that I could access my account that was transferred from Comenity bank to Synchrony bank, Synchrony posted my business phone numbers that the representatives say they obtained from my credit report. I now get about 25-50 phone calls per day on those BUSINESS numbers. This interferes with my business. I am proceeding to litigate against Synchrony Bank because I DO NOT intend to change my business numbers which I have held for over 40 years because Synchrony has decided to violate privacy rights. Synchrony and the credit bureaus (if what Synchrony said was true about getting the business numbers from the credit bureaus – which is doubtful -because customer service is the WORST imaginable) had no right to make me use those numbers to set up new login information including a new user id and password so I could pay my bill. How dare Synchrony Bank do this! The only number on my account was my home number and Synchrony had my email address. Instead, they chose to use my business phone numbers for marketing purposes. Shame on HSN for using this wretched and unscrupulous bank named Synchrony!
I rarely purchase anything from HSN. Recently I did buy Skinny Girl Jeans.
I received a paper bill in the mail and set up a new bill pay account at my bank.
I used the new address and also the new account number listed on the invoice.
My bank did not have an electronic connection to the HSN Synchrony bank. It’s going by check. Ridiculous!
I signed up online put in my banking info. I have not had any problems paying my bill. Did you create a password? QVC already has Synchrony as their cc.
ok, I logged onto hsn.syf.com. Now how do I pay my bill? Ive already signed up over the phone and now can’t get into pay my bill. This is ridiculous. So is qvc going to change to Synchrony bank too at some point? I always pay my bills on time and I’m tired of registering 4 times and still can’t pay my bill. I guess I’ll have to call on the phone every time my hsn bill is due and I can pay all my other bills at once on my bank account. That would be a lot easier, but I hope you make it easier for us paying on time customers to pay our bills.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Pay my bill’, it’ll take you to the bank’s site and just set up a new account…like you did originally. But you’ll need you HSN account number, I had to hunt for my card to get it. I could set my ‘new’ account up just like the old one. I haven’t had any problems but then I have other Synchrony accounts so they might have recognized my e-mail. Good luck 🙂
When you go into the HSN sure online, click “pay my bill” . You need to scroll down and click register because there original card was taken over my synchrony Bank. Even if you were registered before it’s a new synchrony account so you have to do it again. You would need your account number though so maybe an old statement otherwise I don’t know. Good luck.
