Sorry to hear that the Chiefs loss. I know it’s only a game, but geez. Also heard there was another injury. I just hope everyone can return home for the Holidays.
I have been online most of the day looking for ways to return to our other home.. The one good thing is that I can leave from the airport that is only a few miles from our home. However, with a two or more layover in Maryland, may not be doable. Also, the cost during the holidays. Not sure yet if I will bite the bullet and leave tomorrow evening which would give me time to see hubs. The other side is on top of the plane fare I will need to rent a vehicle. This is all because of the oil tank. Everything points to it being full. But the question now is, is the oil going into the pipes. The temps during the day have been in the 40s. Night lows are between 30 and 35. Snow and ice may be a concern later in the week. So many ifs.
I also have a meeting tomorrow with the owner from the Remodel company. I have a few things to hand out at the Rehab for Christmas. I have no idea what time we will meet. This is to go over the vanity and other items to finish off the bathroom. Still loving the shower area. I will try to take a few pictures before I head to the Rehab.

YULE
On the arrival of the Winter Solstice, we observe Yule.
Also known as Jul, Yule predates the Christmas holiday by thousands of years. Linguists debate the origin of the word Yule. Some suggest the word is derived from “Iul,” the Anglo-Saxon word for wheel. This makes a connection to a Celtic calendar, the Wheel of the Year. However, in the Norse culture, “Jul” refers to the god, Odin. Odin was celebrated during Yule as well.
Yule celebrations included bonfires, decorating with holly, mistletoe, and the boughs of evergreen trees, ritual sacrifices, feasts, and gift-giving.

HUMBUG DAY
Humbug Day on December 21st recognizes the Ebenezers, the Scrooges, grinches, and curmudgeons who the joy out of the holiday season.
Sometimes, even the most joyous of us all get bitten by the hum-bug. Regardless, it’s essential to do our best to remember all those who suffer from it the most. Spread some joy their way and bring the holiday spirit into their lives. However, the day was created to express our frustrations, to let the Scrooge in all of us out, and let him reveal himself. Whether we declare it through a humbug or two or just avoid the people-y places, the day gives us a break from the hustle and bustle of activity that comes with the season.
It’s a stressful time of year for many reasons. Some of us may be lonely, and others may feel pressure to do more than is humanly possible. We may also set our own expectations quite high, too. As a result, the stresses of the holiday season pile up, leaving us feeling a bit like Scrooge.

I finally received the e-mail from our neighbor on the oil tank. When I looked at the picture, it seemed our oil was an empty. Here I sat trying to make arrangements for a return trip North without flying. I contacted the Rehab immediately and explained the situation. I read the weather report from shoelady and decided to start checking what could be a harrowing drive if I didn’t. Because of the possibility of snow, freezing rain and sleet, I would probably stay at least a month or so before returning to Fl. .I also looked at taking a train with the car. It’s just an overnight, but would leave me with about 500 miles left which would be doable. Then I decided for whatever the reason, to check that email again It’s a good thing I did. I sent that email to our oil people and received an email back stating our tank is full. This blow has left me with an awful headache. Guess I will not see hubs today, but will explain everything tomorrow. Those gifs are coming in handy this time of year.
Take care of that sore arm. No heavy lifting. Have hubs bring home something for dinner. Take it easy. Nice time for you to rest and put your feet up with Poppy beside you. Now you can really celebrate the upcoming holidays.

I won’t let you know that we are enjoying a little bit of summer. Temp is 72 as I type. Very breezy. Temp tomorrow will be in the low 70s and our night time high in the low 50s, though we could see mid 40s.
I am discovering that the bathroom vanities do follow the ADA when needed. I am enjoying the new Alexa and she is smart and also a game changer. She was able to show me so many styles from Amazon and the price range was exceptional. At least now I know hubs will be pleased. We discussed the probability of leaning against the sink area on one leg with the wheelchair in locked position behind him. This brought a huge grin from ear to ear. Alexa did show me a desk idea, however, the sink was missing and so were the drawers. I also received an email from the owner and he asked if we could meet on Monday to go over some possibilities. II agreed and also mentioned seeing some ideas on Amazon. I even gave him the name of the manufacturer. Alexa even showed me some cabinets for toilet tissue and towels. She is quite the decorator. Finally, something to make my life a bit easier. WOW!!!!😀😀😀😀
Made a stop at Costco. Delighted to see that their signature cookie tins were still available. I purchased three for the nurse’s station. I also decided to try the Japanese sponge cake. Hubby was absolutely thrilled and so was I. It will go great with ice cream and hot fudge. There goes my diet AGAIN. Anyway, it was the closest in taste to grandma’s. I also purchased “Something Special Red Chili Peppers.” I absolutely love this as a marinade to any fish, meat, pork, or chicken dish. Also great for wontons. It lasts a year in the frig.
Also happy that all your appointments are over and done. Great news for you and definitely something to celebrate. I know you were concern, but we knew that everything would be fine. It’s just a bit testy going through the procedures. Now kick up those heels and have a great time.

Doesn’t pay to watch TV, the news is wherever you are and that now includes the Internet. So sad on Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. During Hanukkah and the Christmas season you expect smiles, greetings, handshakes, and the warmth of the season that you wish could be all year round.. The Aussie terrorism, Brown University and now the deaths of two fine people are just too overwhelming. What is our world coming to???
The bathroom remodel has a good beginning. I do like the new shower. What I didn’t like is that no one listened to me when I asked that the shower be even with the floor. This group said it couldn’t be done. Yet the pictures I saw told a different story. However, I did find a ramp that will be suitable and takes very little space. This ramp is also portable and can be used both in Ct. and on the Cape. However, the Cape house needs a remodel down to the studs for hubby to be able to maneuver from one room to another, etc..
I just ordered delivery from Sam’s for holiday gifts for the nurses station (all 3 shifts) and the two receptionists.
I did see hubby yesterday. I never laughed so hard. He is having problems with his fingers in that they freeze up. It also happens to me and I finally attributed it to the cold air from the A/C. I keep forgetting to bring cotton gloves. I won’t forget it this time. They are in the bag ready to go. I will be with him tomorrow after a visit to the Farmer’s market. Wednesday, a stop at Costco for their shrimp salad and some other goodies. I’m glad you are keeping busy.

NATIONAL VIOLIN DAY
Honoring an instrument also known as the fiddle, National Violin Day on December 13th celebrates the bow stringed instrument loved around the world.
By drawing the bow across the strings, the violinist manipulates the sound in several ways. A violinist uses numerous bowing techniques to master the violin. The strokes dictate not only notes, but the quality of the note played.
While we associate the violin with classical music, it easily crosses genres. For instance, the violinist demonstrates the versatility of the violin by extensive use in baroque music, jazz, folk music, rock and roll, and soft rock.

So sorry to hear of your loss, especially during the holidays.
I did make a stop at the Farmer’s Market last weekend. The parking lot was jammed, but I managed to find a parking spot not far from their entrance. Inside there were people mulling about and things to try. They now have an orage juice machine and they were giving out free bottles. There were also demonstrations and some finger food to enjoy. I love this time of year and often wish that people would carry this on throughout the year.
Hubby had just finished dinner when I arrived this afternoon just after 5pm. He was in excellent spirits and was still hungry. He asked for seconds. He left the carrots. I tried one of the carrots. It was cold. I showed him pictures of some of the items I purchased and then we spoke about the vanity. I told him that yesterday I actually brought my desk chair into the bathroom and put it near the vanity. Then I pretended I was handicapped and needed something in the bottom drawer. It wasn’t easy. A couple of tries made me feel that I could easily fall off the chair. I then spent an hour looking at vanities in both Lowes and Home Depot and also from other remodelers. There were quite a few that could be used and they were better than the one the owner had chosen. I sent him an email this afternoon and hopefully he will make a change. No change, no payment. End of story.
Have a great evening. Try to stay warm It was 61 when I left the rehab. It is now in the upper 50s. I do not know what the weekend will be like. Suffice to say Monday another cool down. Oh well, winter is coming sooner. Just wish the children here could see snow. They have no idea what it is like. (LOL). Maybe that’s a good thing. Good night. Sleep well.

With some of the hosts and designers, they say what size they are wearing and what they say seems to be a falsehood. Meaning they appear to wear a bigger size in reality. Sometimes the clothing is skin tight and not really attractive. You see this on QVC also. It is hard for me to know what size to order but I am getting better at examining the fit in the presentation and being careful to think first. That means I order way less.
I started watching both HSN and QVC about 2018 I think. I really liked the fashions but now it appears every designer makes the same clothing style. All the sequin designs looked the same. And some of the ones I really liked at the beginning are using that cheap polyester fabric where you can see the lumps and bumps even if the host says you can’t.

Yesterday was a day I wouldn’t wish on my worse enemy. First of all the contractor was sitting in his vehicle near our home and I thought it was someone visiting our neighbor. I had no idea it belonged to the contractor. I was all set to go out to tell him to move his vehicle to make room for the workers. When he left the vehicle it was to tell me that the men were running late and would be at our home early afternoon. He then left to get the accessories for the shower. Why he sat in his car for over a half hour and not bring the items with him is a good question. But he did return within an hour. Before he left, he asked for a check and the amount he quoted brought the total to above the original agreement with the owner. There has been no work on the bathroom except for me moving things out and cleaning. I did not give him a check, nor was I about to. What I did discover is that the owner never told him that the thermostat could be moved as well as an intake valve for the A/C that was in another location. Thus the bathroom could have been enlarged. The tile for the shower looked altogether different on a computer and cell than it did in a picture that was sent to me later. I am not in love with the tile but am willing to work around it. However, the owner also included a picture of the vanity and I told him it was not my taste. Actually, I hate it. I never made it to a showroom because the business was over 50 miles one way. The other reason is that I was told they were looking for a place in our area and just a month ago I was told that they will be in Sarasota. That showroom is still coming together and all of a sudden I see a picture of a vanity that is horrid.. The mirror going over the vanity is small and is just a mirror without a frame. I also mentioned to the owner that I did not like the vanity. I suppose it went in one ear and out the other like everything else.

It was a rough and tumble day. The contractor phoned that he was running a bit late and was here an hour later to check the bathroom. He left to bring the accessories an hour later. The men were supposed to be here after lunch. They never showed and I had to make a call to the main office. They will be here Monday. I thought everything would be done and finished in one day, but the vanity won’t be here for a week or more. No, I didn’t see hubs today, but will tomorrow. I will be stopping at Culver’s to pick up chili for him and a salad for me. It’s just down the road from Costco. I dread shopping on the weekend, but there is no alternative. I was also totally shocked when the contractor was never informed that they could utilize parts of our two hallway closets to enlarge the bathroom. It is an easy move to install the thermostat in another location at no charge from our electrician. Oh well.
I rested a bit this afternoon. Back to KP. House is starting to come together though there’s tons to be done. But, at least the pressure is off.
