Conversation – 21
Good Day Peeps in our Wonderful Community this is Thread number 21 of the Conversation Series.
I created and started this thread nearly 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please stay safe.

Peace Out Peeps enjoy your evening.

The Edge of Heaven
Song by Wham!I would lock you up
But I could not bear to hear you screaming to be set free
I would chain you up if I’d thought you’d swear
The only one that mattered was me, me, me
I would strap you up but don’t worry baby
You know I wouldn’t hurt you unless you wanted me to
It’s too late to stop, won’t the heavens save me?
My daddy said, “The devil looks a lot like you”
Take me to the, to the edge of heaven
Tell me that my soul’s forgiven
Hide your baby’s eyes and we can
Take me to the edge of heaven
One last time might be forever
When the passion dies
It’s just a matter of time before my heart is looking for a home
I’m like a maniac, at the end of the day
I’m like a dog barking at your door
So come take me back to the place you stay
And maybe we can do it once more
I’m dangerous but don’t worry, baby
I get excited at the things you should do
And there’s a place for us in a funny movie
‘Cause no one does it better than me and you
Take me to the edge of heaven
Tell me that my soul’s forgiven
Hide your baby’s eyes and we can
Take me to the edge of heaven
One last time might be forever
Please don’t tell me lies
It’s just a matter of time before my heart is looking for a home
I ain’t got no more worries (yeah, yeah, yeah, la-la, la-la-la)
I’m gonna spend sometimes with you (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Loving you takes such courage (yeah, yeah, yeah, la-la, la-la-la)
And don’t you think that (yeah, yeah)
I know, and I know, and I know, and I know it
I know, and I know, and I know, and I know it
Sit there
Take me to the edge of heaven
Tell me that my soul’s forgiven
Hide your baby’s eyes and we can take care, oh
Take me to the edge of heaven
One last time might be forever
Don’t you tell me lies
Because believe me baby
One day you’ll wake up on your own
I ain’t got no more worries (yeah, yeah, yeah, la-la, la-la-la)
I ain’t got no more time for you (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Loving you takes such courage (yeah, yeah, yeah, la-la, la-la-la)
Everyone’s got their eyes on you (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I ain’t got no more worries (yeah, yeah, yeah, la-la, la-la-la)
I ain’t got no more time for you (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Loving you takes such courage (yeah, yeah, yeah, la-la, la-la-la)
And don’t you think that
I know, and I know, and I know, and I know it

Good morning in your corner of the world and I hope this beautiful fall Wednesday will
be a great day for you and the kids.Enjoy this special season with your family check in when you can.
-
Good afternoon in Florida and I am hoping you are healing much better.
I hope the family in Brazil are all doing well.May this be a nice Wednesday for you and your husband.
Please take care.
-
Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida and may this Wednesday be a good day
for you and hubby.I was blown away by your post from last night. I don’t know what to think about what
the nurse said to you but I will certainly be talking to his doctor and surgeon. How are you feeling today? Sorry you had a reaction to something you may have eaten.
If you are out and about keep it safe. Let me know how you are doing. Glad your neighbor
is a nurse and can at least give you sage advice. -
Oodie, genius idea about ordering take out. I’m going to look into it.
Sorry about the Head Nurse offering unwanted opinions and perhaps overstepping his/her role.
There is absolutely no excuse for the facility not correcting the bed bug issue immediately.
Take care. -
Hi you two. I am feeling better. The energy is back and soon the white in my profile will turn pink again. It was definitely food poisoning and the culprit was the tomato sauce from Aldi’s. I sincerely hope that no one goes through this. The stomach pains were the worse I ever felt and twice I fainted and both were in the bathroom. Thankfully, the only thing I could hit if I feel would have been the door. The door knob is covered with shower caps. I can tolerate a lot of pain, but this took the cake.
Hubby was in a talkative mood and we had a great conversation. I mentioned what the head nurse had said and also what the urologist mentioned. His comment was and I quote: ” I rather try the surgery in hopes the catheter can be removed permanently. My greatest fear is that if I let it go, I will never know the outcome that could have been.” So, as of now, we are headed for surgery. I think if the catheter can be removed he will feel more freedom and may in time stand and walk again. After this we will schedule an appointment with an orthopedist. I’m positive that he will not recommend surgery, but for the pain and swelling there has to be other alternatives.
Taci, as far a flying somewhere. That is out of the question. It may be the fastest route, but for me, not the safest. What with covid and other illnesses going around there are other methods for traveling. Breathing the same air on a flight scares me half to death. I also like the idea of a camper, but it is not favorable for hubby. A cruise may be a better alternative. There are a few cruises from Florida that wind up in CA.. I’m thinking of a cruise to Hawaii and a return. Hubby wants to see Asia one more time. Hawaii offers that cruise as well. With people not doing that much traveling, prices are way down and some are offering a trip at their loss. First I need to get hubby out of rehab and then we will take one day at a time. He needs to rest and get better. I also need to get him back on track with vitamins. He cannot wait to return to the Farmer’s Market. There will be one opening closer to our home (8 minutes). He is becoming more excited about the prospects. This excitement will help him in the long term.
The men started work on our home today. We are redoing the vapor barrier that wasn’t completed correctly. Because our vents for the heat and A/C were not sealed properly, the varmints used it as a point of access. That was my feeling after getting a new roof following the two hurricanes, repairing the entrance points from the lanai, etc.. The lanai led them to the kitchen and the hallway bathroom. As of now the vents are sealed, cleared and cleaned. Tomorrow is recycle and garbage. Recycle is ready. I will put the garbage out in the AM so the critters can’t get to it. Then it’s back to the kitchen to start on another cabinet. I missed two days of work due to you know what.
We had a day of rain. No downpours. Just a light rain that kept on going. Our plants will be thrilled. More expected tomorrow. Temps are in the 70s tonight and during the day tomorrow. The East coast is getting 66-8 inches of rain. I think I read somewhere that Ft. Lauderale received over 102 inches thus far for this year. Looks like they are on a verge to break a record. They are ahead of all 50 States. I wish they could have sent some our way. Our drought is awful.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope you both have a great evening. -
Taci, we are not dealing with bed bugs, but scabies. I am using the new Shark handheld vacuum to do the mattress and mattress cover. I will do that again tonight if hubby is in his wheelchair. Then a thorough wash and dry followed by a bug spray which kills both the bugs and the eggs. The first time hubby caught this was back in either February or March and he ended up giving it to me because I was his back scratcher. Nothing worked until I used a regular vacuum on the mattress and a bug spray from Amazon. You have to use it twice. Once the day of thorough cleaning and another one week later. I also picked up Sulfur Soap. However, I am allergic to it, so gave the new unopened soap to the Rehab. This does help with the itches. I may order more for hubby. I also have an ointment which has no preservatives and is all natural. It does work, but the first dose does not last long. All the nurses are just giving him Benedryl, but nothing for the whelps. I will also use Clean Boss on the head and foot boards. There are no rails on this bed. In a sense, I am glad that I also had it and was able to get rid of these bugs within a week, but did it again a week later just to be sure. After that I used Benedryl and my sinus meds to control the itching. I found one dose of these did the trick. The bites took a while to completely disappear. He has just a few days to clear this up, otherwise he may not be able to have the surgery. And today I will be insisting on better care and treatment. There is absolutely no reason why this has not been taken care of. He has been itching for the last two and a half weeks. I actually feel that they are doing nothing in order for him not to have this surgery. Our Attorney feels that this is hard to prove because the Rehab physician is following the orders of the Head Nurse who says it is not Scabies. Hmm…..there are tests for this and I will insist on it.
-
I read your post from last night and today. I am in a tailspin as you can tell. I am also thinking about the posts from a few months back where the surgery on the East coast did not go well, but did get corrected later in CA. .For us, it is a catch 22. Hubby will be able to return to the other homes, but will need our physicians consent. With a catheter and not having an ability to stand or walk will be questionable for the house in Ct.. The one on Cape easy. One step, a long landing and then another step into the laundry room. The laundry room is on the main floor, so not a problem. Thank goodness for a ranch house. I would love nothing better than to get a second opinion in Boston. However, that may not be the case. The urologist feels that he is 99.9% sure that the surgery will be a success. Though the prostate is enlarged, it is not an issue. I agree with you on the Rehab. It has been an issue with me from day one. Thank goodness I go daily and as it turned out I had to scream for an urologist. After weeks not able to reach a live person I asked the head nurse to contact the Rehab’s physician for the right phone number and when he got it I made the call. It took a few months of tests to get to the bottom and hopefully we now have the correction that is needed. There is a small blockage affecting the bladder and once that is taken care of the catheter can be removed the following day. He will be in the hospital where he can be thoroughly watched. I also let the urologist’s assistant know that getting him to the bathroom is a concern. The rehab does not have the help that is sorely needed. Seeing my husband in bed on the weekends is a huge concern. His knees swell during the time he is in bed all day. Of course, the head nurse doesn’t work weekends unless needed. When my hubby started to itch all evening and I asked for cream they gave him a Benedryl. That helped for an hour or two, but it didn’t help the whelps on his back, legs and arms. Just before being ill I brought my new toy with me to Rehab. That is the Shark vacuum that you keep charging all day. Thankfully, hubby was in the wheelchair and I was able to strip the bed down to the mattress. Used that vacuum on everything. Today I will do that again and will spray the bed with clean boss and then use a bug spray that will kill the bugs and the eggs. Hubby should be feeling better in three days or less. When I do this, I will also ask for clean linens and pillow cases. But, you are right when you say that the Rehabs don’t do anything. But they do. They have someone in one of their beds that they need to stay in business. But my hubby is not ready for Assisted Living or a Convalescent home. He will do better with me and eating three good meals and snacks Well, enough said. I need to do some laundry and the time is getting to be late in the day. Talk, or rather will write later.
I don’t know what is going on with xango. I just hope she isn’t hospitalized somewhere and I also hope that her hubby is OK. It’s not like her to not say hello. I am actually about two hours away from her and it would be less if there wasn’t construction around. I wouldn’t think twice about getting into the car and checking that everything was OK.
-
You have a lot going on and it has been going too long. The house, the rehab, your husband.
Most of all let’s not forget about you.I wish I could go to the rehab and shake the nurse that said the so call dig to you.
I would shake the daylights out of them and calmly walk off and wish them a great day.I am that kind of person I have distain for people who talk out of place about things they
should not this is your husband and his health. If the Surgeon thought this was not right
I am sure he would not perform this procedure on your husband.Oodie rest well tonight this too shall pass.

Good Morning in S. California seems all my girls are a wee bit under the weather.
Take it easy and soon you will be right as rain.I am glad you are a avid hiker that will work in your favor on getting well soon.
Happy Trails if you are up and at it.
-
Sheba, Sorry your girls aren’t feeling well. There are lots of strains of things going around now, Hubs still is saying no more Flying because it’s so…. well not fun. It might be more fun to get a camper and see the US. We had campers when my son was little, I was watching an old movie and it involved Flying. It looked so much more comfortable, except for the smoking haha,
It rained hard late this afternoon, and is in the forecast for the next few days.
-
When I said my girls I was referring to you, Xango and Oodie as well as me. LOL!
Please get some rest I know how you feel about flying now and one day I will explain
a lot of things. This is the Edge of Heaven.
-
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh.

Mind Stretching
Having a flexible mind makes navigating life much easier, as you are not thrown off course easily.
Flexibility is the capacity to bend without breaking, as well as a continual willingness to change or be changed in order to accommodate new circumstances. People with flexible minds are open to shifting their course when necessary or useful; they are not overly attached to things going the way they had planned. This enables them to take advantage of opportunities that a more rigid person would miss out on. It can also make life a lot more fun. When we are flexible, we allow for situations we could not have planned, and so the world continues to surprise and delight us.
Since reality is in a constant state of flux, it doesn’t make sense to be rigid or to cling to any one idea of what is happening or what is going to happen. We are more in tune with reality when we are flexible. Being in tune enables us to adjust to the external environment and other people as they change and grow. When we are rigid or stuck in our ways, instead of adjusting to the world around us we hunker down, clinging to a concept of reality rather than reality itself. When we do this, we cut ourselves off from life, and we miss out on valuable opportunities, as well as a lot of joy.
Just as we create flexibility in our bodies by stretching physically, we can create limberness in our minds by stretching mentally. Every day we have the opportunity to exercise our flexibility. We can do this in small ways such as taking a different route home from work or changing our exercise routine. On a larger scale, we can rearrange the furniture or redo a room in our house. If these are things we already do regularly, we can stretch our minds by imagining several different possibilities for how the next year will unfold. As we do this, our minds become more supple and open, and when changes come our way, we are able to accommodate and flow with the new reality. AMEN!

Good Afternoon in Florida I am thinking of you please get well soon.
Just take your time we will all be here when you feel better. -
It’s almost time for Thanksgiving. I hope you are feeling better. If you can please pop in to say Hi.
-
Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oz is alright today perfect weather we are in
the 60’s.Oodie I know you are concerned about your husband’s upcoming medical procedure
I am hoping and praying this solves his mobility issues. I think you both deserve a nice
season and in your own home.I hope the house looks nice and fresh after all the painting. Thank god the little critters
are hopefully long gone.Enjoy your shopping and enjoy some good eats with hubby.
Enjoy some tea after your busy day.
-
What a day yesterday was. The painter returned early am to put a 2nd coat on the trim. It is lovely.
Though the color was not my first choice which was the neck of the peacock, this is the turquoise of the tail. It is a rich color in that a little of teal was also included. The painter thought the neck part would be too dark. I can always add a light teal over this if hubby is so inclined. The plumber showed and it was a four hour job from start to finish. He or someone else wll need to return to repair the faucets in shower and tub. I guess it’s an old unit that we cannot purchase any longer, so it’s something that has to be special ordered which will take about three days to receive. I will probably get a call Friday for a day next week. I just hope it doesn’t coincide with me purchasing a fresh turkey. The fresh turkey takes less time to cook. I am making one for hubby and his roommate if he so desires. The last person to knock on the door was the one who is helping me to get rid of the varmints. I gave him a check to cover half. I also learned that new and other old construction also will need to do the vapor barrier. Seems this tool keeps rodents away if the sealing is done. I had this completed about a year to a year and half ago. The work was OK, but the bottom line was they did not seal the areas which also included the vents. I had new ducts installed a week and a half ago. They also need to be sealed which wasn’t done. So, that work will need to be replaced. No wonder it took them just a little over an hour to install. I have since found a new company to take over the A/C.. My neighbor came over. She wanted me to look at her new entrance and thought it would be usable for hubby. The steps are quite wide and only 3 inches a part. Because Florida is noted for termites, he used Trex. I took a picture of the new stairs and also our trimwork.
I hope you can start your drive before any storms hit. I’m watching something in the Pacific that could mean flooding for Ca.. Not sure about Colorado. So tread carefully.
Hope you have a great day and evening.
-
Last night I had dinner of rice and meatballs with tomato sauce. Evidently that sauce was bad and so I had the worse cramps that knocked me for a loop. Called my neighbor who is a nurse and told her I just may be dialing 911. I stayed home yesterday and today. Was not able to see hubby, but now that I’m feeling better, will go tomorrow. I did contact the head nurse and he sort of hinted that the surgery will not do my hubby any good. He feels he has been on the catheter too long. I just hope he is wrong and I can tell him “I told you so..” I do know people who have used a catheter for over a year or two and were still able to have it removed. I hope the same. Surgery is less than two weeks away. Tests prior are scheduled Thanksgiving day at 7 am.. I will try to be there. I am not a morning person. Will use several alarms beginning at 5 am. Hospital is also 8 miles from portal to portal, but I expect heavy traffic for people leaving for work. If I can make it, will treat hubby to breakfast in the cafeteria. I just hope they are opened.
-
WHAT! The head nurse said the surgery may not do him any good? WTH! Oodie I feel
if a medical surgeon gave the ok to have the surgery done that is it. I believe in first
do no harm! I don’t think a surgeon in the world would do a procedure that they know
will not work. I am stunned I am not digging Florida for the Rehab Centers.Oodie how are you feeling I will be glad when you can go back to your normal way of life you
and your husband seem to have boundless energy. I mean three top notch homes. I admire
the fact you have traveled a great deal with your husband. I did not like the last Cruise when
you both got Covid. Oodie you both bounced back.I will check back in tomorrow and I hope you are getting some much needed rest.
-
Good morning in S. California Taci I hope you and your family are feeling better.
Soon you will be on the way to Happy Trails.
-
Good afternoon in the beautiful ‘burgh.
How is your day going?
Well we are not doing anymore leaves so please it is done. Oh but wait gumballs
will fall next and every single neighbor in our entire neighborhood have a gumball
tree. We will hire someone to do that chore.Good luck on the Hockey Team Thursday.
Taylor and Kelce are red hot.
Sending warm hugs to you and Jake’s Canvas.
I love doing that.
-
Good afternoon in Oz. Sunny and nice here today.
Colder this weekend with rain and snow showers, yuk.
You said it right above, I’ll be sick of winter by Monday.
Our leaves are done also. Hubs finished this afternoon except for any that may blow in with high winds.
Seems like we go from doing leaves right into shoveling snow. Ran a few errands this morning. Having soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.
Sending warm hugs back to you and Poppy.
-
Goodnight.
I have been out feeding the cats I don’t want them to be hungry.
This will be a long lonely night for them.Enjoy.

Do What Excites You
We can all fall into the motions of life, trying something exciting can be just the spice you need.
Each human life has the potential to be dramatic, thrilling, and awe-inspiring. Our lives are, in truth, ours to design. Each day, we make choices that influence the character of our experiences, and our decisions determine whether our paths are rousing or tedious, breathtaking or tiresome. We can create an exciting life by simply doing what excites us whenever the opportunity presents itself. Your passions may ebb and flow, and what excites you one year may not excite you the next, but when you make excitement a regular part of your existence, life becomes more fun and more fulfilling.
If you are somebody that tends to live practically, excitement may overwhelm you at first. To ease the anxiety that prevents you from incorporating all that you find exciting into your life, acknowledge that you are alive right now in this time and every moment matters. When you choose to do more of what excites you, even if your choices require you to make certain sacrifices, your daily life will soon be imbued with exhilaration, pleasure, and optimistic anticipation.
To understand what excites you, you may need to observe and ponder your reaction to the activities, events, circumstances, and concepts that make up your life. What makes your pulse race, what makes you want to get out of your chair and take action? Try to avoid getting too wrapped up in life’s details; their tedium may cause you to plod through your existence unaware of prospective excitement. Once you have created a substantial list of what excites you, find ways to integrate each item into your routine. You will soon find yourself riding a wave of excitement that lifts you up and makes life truly worth living. What excites you in your life?

This is life.Wishing you a great day and as you can see by the headlines and national news
Taylor and Kelce are serious. I wish them all the luck in the world.Lady next month I have so many appointments I just want it one and done.
This is for the breast cancer and the mammogram I will have. I am heading into
year five. -
Geez, Sheba, five years already, hard to believe. So far, so good. I am always praying for you through these appointments.
Nice day in the ‘burgh, still didn’t get to mom’s yet. Just felt a little tired and did some odds and ends around the house. Not a whole lot planned this week other than a hockey game on Thursday.
Getting ready to make some omelets for dinner.
Slow down and take it easy tonight. Hugs coming your way!

Going With the Flow
Going with the flow doesn’t mean we don’t know where we’re going; rather, we are open to other ways of getting there.
The expression going with the flow is a metaphor that applies to navigating a river. When we go with the flow, we follow the current of the river rather than push against it. People who go with the flow may be interpreted as lazy or passive, but to truly go with the flow requires awareness, presence, and the ability to blend one’s own energy with the prevailing energy. Going with the flow doesn’t mean we toss our oars into the water and kick back in the boat, hoping for the best. Going with the flow means we let go of our individual agenda and notice the play of energy all around us. We tap into that energy and flow with it, which gets us going where we need to go a whole lot faster than resistance will.
Going with the flow doesn’t mean that we don’t know where we’re going; it means that we are open to multiple ways of getting there. We are also open to changing our destination, clinging more to the essence of our goal than to the particulars. We acknowledge that letting go and modifying our plans is part of the process. Going with the flow means that we are aware of an energy that is larger than our small selves and we are open to working with it, not against it.
Many of us are afraid of going with the flow because we don’t trust that we will get where we want to go if we do. This causes us to cling to plans that aren’t working, stick to routes that are obstructed, and obsess over relationships that aren’t fulfilling. When you find yourself stuck in these kinds of patterns, do yourself a favor and open to the flow of what is rather than resisting it. Trust that the big river of your life has a plan for you and let it carry you onward. Throw overboard those things that are weighing you down. Be open to revising your maps. Take a deep breath and move into the current. AMEN!

you are able to catch your breath. The repairs on your home after the storm is major.I am glad things are coming together for you and like you I can’t wait for your husband
to come home. How did things go yesterday? The painting on the house will be the icing on the cake.
I know your husband will love it.I have some errands to run today with my husband I will check back in later.
Hey stay safe and have a good Sunday with your hubby along with some good eats. -
I was told that hubby ate his entire dinner including dessert. However, he still had room for the fish soup, beef with mixed vegetables and kung pao tofu. There wasn’t one thing on this menu that wasn’t delicious. Hubby ate as if he hadn’t had dinner. Ok, now for the full story. I was running very late due to a phone conversation. I actually didn’t order anything until 5:45pm and then had to wait another 10 minutes before the food was ready. I can say wholeheartedly It was worth the wait time.
I arrived at the Rehab about 6:45pm with food in hand. Signed in and then went to hubby’s room. The front wheels of his chair were sticking out from the door in anticipation of my arrival. His eyes popped when he spied the paperbag with the plastic bag over it. He was like a little kid in a candy store. He had over 2 helpings of the soup and enjoyed the two entrees. There is still some left of the entrees for dinner tonight along with a container of white rice. So happy that I decided on Asian food.
Well, one cabinet is entirely emptied and I was able to use Clean Boss. This bottle did have a heavy odor, but not enough to toss. Returning home that area smelled clean and I was able to begin putting some things away. Loaded the dishwasher with more things and will start on that
section when I return from rehab. I need to empty the glassware cabinet next. I was able to clean two drawers for utensils last night.I am happy to note that it’s been two days without seeing or hearing a varmint. Sleeping through the night never felt so good. Tomorrow the painter returns to finish the work and I also will see the plumber. Hubby has an urologist appointment tomorrow. I didn’t find out until yesterday and it’s too late to cancel the plumber. Contacted the head nurse and asked if he knew about the appointment. He forgot to tell me. On my way to see hubby tomorrow, I will stop at that office to give them the co-pay and to obtain the information. Hubby’s surgery is two weeks from tomorrow. To say I am scared, concerned, worried is an understatement.
Well, guess your time for seeing your mom is just around the corner. I am hoping for you to be there in time for Thanksgiving or Christmas. What a wonderful time of year to celebrate and be in an area you so long for. By the way, I loved your new bedroom ideas. My favorite was your 2nd choice. Nothing like having a roaring fire going just prior to bedtime. I hope you can have that home and then some. You have much to look forward to when the time is right.
Enjoy the day. Remember to take your sinus meds after working outside and raking those leaves. Have a wonderful Sunday.
-
I overdid everything this weekend. Oops!
I will be with my mother and family for the
holiday. Long story but I will fill you tomorrow.Just rest I know you are tired if I never see another leaf again! Oodie they are so beautiful
on the trees and ground during the fall season but when you have to get some up well
it’s something else.Let me tell you it is a great work out I don’t mind helping my husband.
I hope your day went well and I am thinking of your husband procedure too. Prayers Up!
-
Make sure the weather is in your favor at least 10 days. I don’t think you and hubby would want to drive in snow or freezing rain. I hope you have safe travels. Good time to be with family and for hubby a week off including the holiday. As for Covid. It is the fastest thing to catch. Less than 5 minutes with a person who has it or is about to have it. To think that a hotel room gave us both Covid the first time just hours before our cruise. I had never felt so sick and so vulnerable. Thank goodness for MSNBC on the cruise which gave me the signs of Covid and most importantly, not to stay in bed but to move around. And on that cruise I kept away from people and the cruise physician. And to think that our vitamins helped. Most importantly, the Immune ones.
Oh how I hate autumn. First off those oak leaves and my sinuses and then the yellow or brown leaves. Most beautiful of course are the maples. Though the colors are magnificent, it’s the change in weather. Of course, you know, I like the winter first and then spring. I do miss the snow, but not the shoveling. I hate and dread the raking of leaves and of course, we have none of that in Florida.
On your trip, just remember to pack some snacks and maybe something for lunch. Since you may be driving, bring some heavy coats just in case with boots. I will never forget about returning home from the Caribbean in a blizzard. My boots were in the closet with the rest of our wintry wear. Trudging through knee deep snow in shoes meant for the indoors or for warmer climate was not an easy feat. Why we left the warm climate of the Caribbean instead of waiting for the next day to travel is still beyond me. I felt real sorry for the bus driver who had a flimsy bus and hearing his expletives did not help our morale. We were real lucky that we made it home in one piece. Anyway, watch the weather.
Take care and get some rest. I have the plumber Monday morning and when he is done I will be driving to hubby’s urologist to give them the co-pay. If it’s early enough will go to Costco for gas and to walk around the warehouse. I will be picking up some items for the nurses and reception area. The Christmas decorations are already up and I must admit they are real pretty.
I will make a turkey at home and will bring it to the Rehab with all the fixings. Not sure if I will carve it at home or at the rehab. The D-Best cart has been very useful. It is serving me well and really helps my back. Take care and have a wonderful Monday. -
Good morning in S. California hey the wheels are turning on the road to Colorado.
Will keep you posted how are you feeling this weekend?Seems like you and the family are back on your feet. I think you will be hitting
the trails and I am glad all that hiking and walking came in handy during your
trip to Europe.Any Thanksgiving plans? Hey Happy Trails To You.
-
Sheba, Still sick here. I have good and better days. My son is still sick too. It wasn’t Covid and we had flu shots. It’s hot here during the day, in the low 80’s. Going to bed soon.
I don’t know what to do for Thanksgiving. I would love a nice place to go out to but after the last few years of going out, the places were overly crowded and gross, I ‘ll probably cook. At least it will be easier and relaxing.
Are you cooking? I don’t want to ask too many questions. -
Hi. Just read your post and I have an idea. Why not use take out for Turkey day. That way you can be a “lady” of leisure. You won’t have to be in a crowded situation. And, lastly, no snow in the forecast as far as I can tell for California. I have friends who do this every year and the turkey has been juicy. I will be picking our turkey up next week (probably Tuesday). I do not purchase a frozen one because it takes longer to cook. I like the fresh and will be using the Farmer’s Market for this. I will pick up the stuffing at Costco and will add all kinds of ingredients such as carrots, chestnuts, bok choy, onions, etc.. The market makes their own cranberry and orange sauce which I hate to admit, is better than mine. Not sure if I will purchase sweet potatoes or go with the Asian one, or I may do both. For the two of us, I usually purchase a 15-18 lb. turkey. Anything smaller is less meat. Leftovers either go in the freezer or will make a wonderful soup. Ok, now that I made you hungry, why not check out turkey to go from your favorite restaurant. It will make things a lot easier especially when you are still fighting with that bug.
Now, go rest and try to get rid of that bug. Dr. Oodie’s orders.
-
Good evening I hope you feel better soon. If all goes well I will be in Colorado and no
I will not be cooking there are at least 20 good cooks there.I will tell more as the
date gets closer. My one and only things is covid and how did I get covid a few months
ago? My brother and his wife they in my home for 45 minutes. I managed to keep safe
during my cancer treatment which took weeks and during surgery it’s covid that is stealing
joy from people. Taci I still mask up and I will mask up around my family.I am taking my laptop so as I sit somewhere away from the crowd I will still do my thread.
I will be gone around a week and that is due to the weather. I may go up in the mountains
but I am not skiing I have great bones and I intend to keep them that way.Taci what people don’t know is I have done this thread from Colorado I just never said anything it was
no big deal this was before cancer and covid. Prayers Up for a safe trip.Taci our son is coming here until after Christmas he works remotely and will return to Atlanta after Christmas.
Son is fine taking care of Poppy and he knows about the cats.I am covering everything.
-
How are you thing afternoon? I hope your husband had a good evening with his friends.
I am so glad your Hockey Team won.If you are spending part of the day with your family have a good time.
Looks like Kelce is in South America with Taylor.
Blowing a sweet hug to you and Jake’s Canvas.
Stay warm my friend.
-
Good afternoon in busy Oz. Mom and sis were a little tired from the wedding so I stayed home today. Will visit in the next couple days.
I did see Kelce made it to Argentina and I did see she finally made it public with the “kiss seen around the world.”
Also changed a few lyrics in her songs for him. Cute couple, I wish them all the best.
Hubs had a nice time and I made it through the games last night. Although when he came home, I was sitting up in bed with my book in hand and dozing off.
Never even heard the garage door.
Hope you have a good Sunday, thanks for the bluetini.
Relax tonight, hugs to you and Poppy.
-
Lady Taylor has her hands full with Kelce there are things we who live in the region
knows about.Kelce is not a boring person.
Making plans to leave town for holiday with my family.
Enjoy!

AMEN!

I slept good last night and awoke at 10 am. I have cleaned two cabinets using Clean Boss. All stains are out and the scent is clean and fresh. I am ordering Asian food for takeout. Hubby needs to eat and not rely on snacks. I will write more later since it is after 5pm and I need to get going.
Tomorrow I will get some things ready for the plumber and then some. If I’m not too tired, will write later. Hope you three have a nice, quiet and peaceful weekend. Oh, before I forget. No critters and no sound from the vents. Silence never felt so good. -

Good evening to you. Went out for dinner since one of our local restaurants was giving a free meal to all veterans, my husband being one of them. Very nice and very crowded. So appreciative that they are honored.
Hubs went to a friends house this evening to watch pay-per-view fights with a bunch of guys so I am checking out the hockey game and football games.
I will probably fall asleep during one of them.
Mom and sis at a wedding today.
SIL is hanging in there, still can’t drive so she is getting very restless. She can put a little weight on her foot but has to wear a boot and use a scooter for a few months to get around.
Hail to you, the leaf queen!
That’s one job I don’t do. Hubs spent all afternoon yesterday cleaning up the neighbor’s leaves in our yard.
Enjoy your evening. Hugs to you and Poppy.

I hope you are enjoying a well deserved day of fun.
Let me know how things go.
Don’t forget to wear a Heidi Daus Pin.
-
The day started off Ok, but well, here’s what happened. The painter returned to do the second coat. It is actually starting to look real nice. Then my neighbor phoned to say she said OK to have someone go under the house to check the crawl space to see where these varmints are coming from. Last year I had someone work on the underneath portion and since then we have had problems. So I had mentioned to my neighbor that I was thinking about having someone do some checking. Well, her people came around noon time and I decided to stay since things are topsy turvy. They were here over two hours and come to find out that the work last year was done correctly. However, the problem was they didn’t tie everything together. He pulled the vent in the kitchen for the A/C and there were actual holes in the area. The men last year didn’t caulk around the vents, nor did they finish the job underneath the house. Since another neighbor used the same people, I will forewarn her.
I finally made it to the rehab around 2 pm. I missed hubby playing the piano and heard it was awesome. I was with him up until a half hour ago and I am pooped. Fell sound asleep in the chair at rehab. No one thought to wake me up. Not even hubby. Hubby did not eat his dinner, though he did have the soup. He said he wasn’t hungry. I’m wondering if he was feeling OK. Although I have to admit it didn’t look appetizing. and the salmon or what ever it was on the other side of his sandwich was gross.
Wonder if xango has company or if something happened. It is not like her not to post. Wish I knew how to reach her.
Sorry that I missed Trivia. It was a fun evening just to be with everyone including the staff. I think t hey should do more of this during the year. It brings everyone together and it becomes something special to those who attend.
-
Good Morning in S. California glad you are back to getting things normal.
This is my dream when I get to Colorado and my family have done this.
Wishing you Happy Trails.

-
Here is to a nice day in the ‘burgh I hope you are doing well. We all did Laundry yesterday. LOL!

Hi in Oz. If you get your first choice above, I’ll take the second. Beautiful!
Did some errands this morning, now home for the day. Sunny and around 60, 50s over the weekend. Another winner last night, they need to stay out on the west coast. Doing better there than back here.
Here’s to a good weekend, sending hugs to all.

The Ways We Love
Being single or being in a relationship are both valid options for living life and one is not better than the other.
The way we choose to love can be as unique as the way we choose to make a living, maintain our health, or entertain ourselves. Some choose to seek out a mate and enter into a partnership with a special individual, while others find immense satisfaction in staying single. There is no right or wrong way to be in your life when it comes to deciding whether or not to be in a relationship, even though society tends to put an emphasis on romantic partnerships. Whether you choose to go through life as part of a romantic relationship or live as a single unit, there are benefits to both. Feel free to be comfortable with whatever choice is right for you.
Choosing to be single is a wonderful way to spend time discovering yourself. You have more time and space to figure out what and how you want your life to be without having to keep someone else’s choices in mind. Being single gives you the freedom to do what you want at a moment’s notice and the pride that comes with facing life on your own terms. Companionship, support, and affection can be found while spending quality time with friends, colleagues, and relatives. There is also the fun that comes with being able to date many different people without having to make a commitment. Choosing to have a mate, on the other hand, brings with it an opportunity to share your life with another person. There is comfort in the knowledge that you are facing the world with someone as a united front. When life is challenging, you are in a position to strengthen, as well as give each other comfort. There is also the inevitable transformation of self that comes from allowing another person to so intimately be a part of your life.
Remember that what is right for one person may not be right for another, and people can transition between wanting to be with another person and wanting to be alone many times over the course of their lives. Whether you seek out a mate or live the single life, embracing it fully will ensure that either choice is as fulfilling as possible for you.

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Song by Gordon LightfootThe legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship’s bell rang
Could it be the north wind they’d been feelin’?
The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too
T’was the witch of November come stealin’
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashin’
When afternoon came it was freezin’ rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind
When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin’
“Fellas, it’s too rough to feed ya”
At seven PM, a main hatchway caved in, he said
“Fellas, it’s been good to know ya”
The captain wired in he had water comin’ in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searchers all say they’d have made Whitefish Bay
If they’d put fifteen more miles behind her
They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters
Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man’s dreams
The islands and bays are for sportsmen
And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered
In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
In the maritime sailors’ cathedral
The church bell chimed ’til it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early -

Xango, Hope you feel better soon!

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I am multi-tasking today.
Laundry Day and then some that’s life.I hope you slept well last night after that wonderful meal with your husband.
I know back to basics with the house. Wishing you a nice day.
Oz is around the 50’s so we are in full Fall.
-
Oodie, Hope you and hubs have a great day tomorrow. Very impressive that he can play by ear. That’s quite a gift. You have done so much work on your place, sound exhausting but hopefully in the end rewarding.
Thanks for the welcome back. In my younger years I experienced the ear pain that you mentioned. It is very painful. I always bring a few different types of ear plugs along (never used them) but it makes me feel better just in case…. Being afraid of heights is also understandable. It’s easy to distract yourself on the plane with the entertainment options and I like aisle seats so rarely look out the window. I don’t like heights either but the plane doesn’t seem to bother me. Good thing you have a Van for your travels. We might follow your lead -
First off I will be missing Trivia tomorrow. I will be leaving late morning to be with hubby for a get together with the patients and their family. It will be an all day affair beginning around noon and will go on throughout the day. Actually, I am looking forward to it. It will give hubby an opportunity to be with people other than me and to have some laughs. I will be bringing his keyboard with me. Hubby does not read music. Hum a tune and he plays by ear. I remember him telling a story about his music teacher. He had a lesson to learn and for some reason, could not read the notes. At the lesson the following week he told the teacher that he had some problems with the tune and she played it for him. “Oh, he said,” That’s the way it’s supposed to go.” He then played it back to her and she applauded him for practicing. I think the keyboard will help him and those that are able will either dance or sing. Hoping he will have a great time and then some.
I awoke very early this morning. The rugs for the lanai are finally down and are beautiful. Guess they will not be going North anytime soon. I will be taking pictures for hubby. The painter is here and doing the trim for the house. The first coat was a bit too late. The second coat is right on. Neighbor next door helped with the lanai since my back gave out. She and another neighbor removed the bushes in the front. I thought at first I would be putting in plants in pots but I zilched it. If I happen to be North during hurricane season, they would have to be dismantled and put elsewhere. So, I think I would like all year round flowers that I can pick from time to time and make a bouquet for the dining area. I also cleaned the frig out completely and will start from scratch. Now to empty the kitchen cabinets (dishe, glassware and utensils will be first.) Hello to Glean Boss. And like you will be doing laundry. Never a dull moment in this house.
I hope xango isOK. Not seeing her post for this length of time gets me worrying. I hope she and her hubby are OK.
-
@oodiebom:
My plan is to drop in Trivia by 8pm, 8:30pm, 9pm & 9:30 pm to leave questions & then the answers. Hope lots show up & hope you & your husband have a great Friday night!
~DEFG -
I hope you have a marvelous time with your husband and all tomorrow. I think you deserve
some time to enjoy things. I hope they have good food.Oodie are you going to start Trivia off so the ones that show up will know why you are unable
to play? I think they like it better when you start the thread that is how they find it.I will be there off and on mostly in the Arcade which is where I am every Trivia Night. LOL!
Oodie I never played Arcade Games until Trivia and being on HSN. I am good at a very few.How did your day go and please get some rest and wear a Heidi Daus Pin for the event
tomorrow. -
Good morning in S. California I hope you are resting after your fantastic trip.
If you are up and out hey Happy Trails To You.
-
Sheba, Happy Thursday! Lovely pictures. Today was like a warm summer day. Nice after all the rain we experienced. My hair was wild in the weather. It became way more wavy, curly and poofy. It wasn’t even something I could straighten. I tried that once and gave up.
Been getting caught up with getting groceries, doing laundry, and cleaning a bit.
What’s been going on in Shebaland?
-
I think every one of us did laundry today. Oz is chilly tonight may have to turn on a little
heat.Shebaland has been very busy LOL how did you come up with that name? I like it.
Plans in the works for Colorado and I am not going to say too much in case something goes
awry. I have planned the time and date just to have something happen that is out of my
control. The entire family in the State of Colorado have all had Covid and then me and hubby
had that nasty beast.I will wear a mask most of the time my family goes to Mountain and when they come down
they bring Covid with them. YIKES!I am been into George Michael next month will be seven years since he passed on
Christmas Day. I love Wham and George Michael. The music is forever and he was inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week I was so happy. I think he knows.I have been outside feeding cats. MEOW!
-
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh.
Lady congrats on your hockey team winning on
Tuesday. YAY!Oz is a little cool today and I am multi-tasking never a dull moment here.
I hope you are doing well and having fun with your mother and sister.
Hey sending good vibes to you and Jake’s Canvas.
-
Shoelady, thanks for the welcome back post. Lol about our “slim bodies’ .
National Laundry Day, never heard of it. Have a great evening. -
Happy Thursday to you. Is it national laundry day because I did two loads this morning, lol!
Ran to the grocery store for my SIL who is still laid up with her foot surgery.
Just finished making a pot of stuffed pepper soup.
Nice morning but temps are dropping this afternoon. Not going to mom’s tomorrow, her cleaning lady will be there and Saturday she has a wedding. So maybe Sunday.
Thanks for the shoutout.
I see it is a bye week for you, no stressing this weekend. Stay warm, take it easy this evening and sending hugs to you, Poppy and the outside kitties.

Lady you made me laugh so hard my husband came to check on me.We are a wee bit cold as it will be in the 30’s in the morning. I made sure the cats
had a decent meal and their food is not cheap either. These cats are getting spoiled.
The cats don’t like cheap food I am like REALLY! So, I buy the good stuff. LOL! -

AMEN!
