Good Day Peeps in our Wonderful Community this is Thread number 21 of the Conversation Series.
I created and started this thread nearly 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please stay safe.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING SHEBA
I know you are having a wonderful time with your family.Hubby did a fantastic job in the kitchen. I laughed really hard when he asked how to make the fresh Cranberry sauce. He could not believe how easy it was to just squeeze some orange juice, a little sugar ( he used his Erythritol) on one packaged. And my regular sugar on a second packaged.
He made a small chicken, sweet potatoes, squash in the oven. Green beans, stuffing and carrots on the stove. He did a really good job, with me advising him of course.
Be careful going back home, and go with God. Vai com Deus Sheba.
Take care -
I did help with some cooking I know all my mother’s secret to good cooking.
Kudos to your husband for coming through with his cooking on Thanksgiving. -
Good morning on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
This will be a busy day for all of us.
I hope you enjoy your day with hubby and have a great meal and company.I hope your husband will be allowed to play the Piano.
I think music is what brings
special days like this so wonderful.Sending cool hugs from Colorado.
I will check back in later do have a wonderful time today.
Oodie I enjoyed your post from yesterday things I never knew.
-
I arrived at the Rehab about 1:45pm. Signed in and went to hubby’s room. I was hoping to drop my things off and head to the dining room. Only I found hubby in bed, not dressed and eating his lunch. As far as I can tell no one informed the staff of a party. No wonder there were empty parking spaces and people Leaving disgusted. Of course, the head nurse took the day off. I am more than disappointed. One good thing, I am with hubby. And because he is in bed, forgot that it was Thanksgiving. Just another day in rehab.
-
Just noticed an error. I arrived at 12:45pm. Hubby is coughing up a storm. Not sure at this point if the surgery will be postponed. I am in a dither. Right now, it does not look good for Monday.
-
Good morning on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodiebom I feel bad for the staff not
having their shizzle together for Thanksgiving regardless of anything else.Oodie for almost a year you have been there nearly everyday. I have had some
plain Thanksgiving during my life it’s alright. I love the fact you had each other.I pray your husband gets better and is able to have his surgery.
I hope to be home by Sunday we shall see. We can see our security system on our
house. Our son is doing a good job I can see him and Poppy.Oodie I meant
to tell you the girls are here in Denver all three.Oodie hang in there you were in such good holiday cheer about the Holiday treat.
I am thinking of you.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
.
Wishing you and your family a day of laughter, a day of love, a day of happiness and health.
Sheba, I like to thank you for all you do on this site day in day out. You are truly appreciated.
Enjoy this festive day with your mom, hug and kiss her. Perhaps a dance in the kitchen with her.
Mom and I would put on some music while we cooked. And dance around in the kitchen a few times.Take care Sheba

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Are you eating at home or going out? Have a blessed day and thanks for being a friend.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
We are staying in, hubby is cooking. We’ll, more like allowing the oven to do most everything. A small chicken because Turkey is too big and to much. Along with vegetables in the oven.
Here’s wishing you and your family a wonderful day. -
Hoping that you will enjoy Thanksgiving. No matter what the feast is, I kn9w it will be good especially with you giving advice along the way. There was an invitation at the nurse'[s station with an invite and I did not hesitate to put my name in. Plans were to bake a turkey here and to bring it to his room or another location if he so desired. Looking forward to getting up early to do one load of wash and then shower and be on my way. It will feel good not to bring something from home for a change.
I also want to say it’s good to see you posting again. Take care and don’t overdo anything. You will heal in due time. It doesn’t matter what you eat, being together is the most important.
-
Good morning I think on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Oodie very interesting with
how your cousin think of her relationships with people. I have worked and known the cream
of the crop ie. Leonard Bernstein, Ella Fitzgerald and Ethel Merman at a very young age.
I treated them like people and to me they were like my grandparents. I don’t pick friends
for what they have but what is in their hearts and how they treat people.I am never interested in other people’s social status. The women I write to everyday are
the type of people I love being around just women like me who like to have a good time.I could talk to Xango all day about fresh bread and coffee. I could go with Taci about her
wonderful 5 mile hikes, I could talk to Shoelady about sports and her favorite drinks,
Oodie with you well you cover a lot of ground you know we could go on talking. I don’t
care about your size or anything else that is personal all I care about is how we all get
each other it is my forte never to pry I know people read this thread and some things
is not anyone else’s concern.Oodie I will have a little time later this evening and I will
check back in.Meanwhile how are you? Glad the Feast will happen at the Rehab that will be a nice
social gathering. I hope they will let your husband play the piano.Oodie we drove here wish us luck on getting home.
I have a bullseye view of the mountains from my room in the house.
-
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband
Wishing you and your hubby a day filled with love, health, light and great food.
I hope you can just relax and enjoy a great meal with your husband.
Take care Oodie.
-
In case things get crazy for me tomorrow, I wanted to wish you and your husband a Happy Thanksgiving and a great day. I know the great day will be the one when he comes home. I hope it’s a fun day at the rehab and the food is good. Knowing you, you will have a backup plan in the van, lol! Thanks for being a friend all these years.
-
Phew!! Glad you drove. However, the return trip does not sound too promising, though Denver knows how to shovel better than the Northeast. Too bad the car does not know how to navigate between the snowflakes.
It is pouring right now and thundering. The men showed up to plant two things that will have pink flowers all year round. Hopefully, it will bring a few butterflies and hummingbirds. The front of the house is a total disaster since I had someone take out the plants that looked horrible. So now I just have an empty area with that dreadful sandy soil. They will be back next week to plant some beautiful flowering plants that I will be able to cut now and then for a delightful bouquet. I love flowers. they will also get rid of the soil and will start from scratch.
I signed up for Thanksgiving to be with hubby. My original plan was to make a turkey at home with all the fixings and to make enough for his roommate. I did purchase a sherpa blanket of a different color from hubby’s and he loves it. That room is like an icicle at night and I am not exaggerating. Tomorrow’s dinner starts at 1pm and rest assure I will probably leave hours prior. He will be playing the piano which will be quite festive and will make him smile more. My guy is quite talented and would have probably made it on stage if not for rent and food. One of his sister’s attended Juilliard as a pianist. She was going to start giving performances but met someone who was a physician and married him. She is a lovely person and must be close to 90 today. Hubby is lots younger and of course the baby of the family. Hubby will have tons to look at when he returns home. At the moment I am looking at outdoor cushions for the outdoor settee and two chairs (all in white wicker) since the ones we had were tossed with the nodoor furniture. I think I found a cushion for the settee.
I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and finding your sister is cancer free is a miracle and a feat that we all hope for. You have so much to be thankful for. By the way, have your son bring Poppy to face time. It will be a beautiful moment for the three of you/or four. The dogs have no idea where the sound is coming from and they do go room to room thinking you are home. A few are smart enough to figure it out and then the laughter. I know you miss your baby.
I have never judged a person. I try to be friendly as best as I can knowing what others have done to me. Hubby has had that as well. I would have loved meeting Leonard Bernstein, but knowing his cousin and her spouse was enough. They were friends with my parents and got together once per week. My mom played maj jong and canasta. Dad was poker.. They and their friends played for pennies. They were a lively group. I enjoyed their banter. and still miss them this very day.
Loved Ethel Merman and did not realize that we shared the same birthday until after she passed. She was down to earth. with no airs. What you saw is what she was. Suzanne Somers was the same. Having $$ and going to a prestige college is not everything. It’s who you are that brings me to the table. A huge ego will make me run the other way. Enough said.
Hmm….I wonder if Hubby remembers the following song?
Over the river, and through the wood,
To Grandfather’s house we go;
The horse knows the way
To carry the sleigh
Through the white and drifted snow.Over the river, and through the wood,
To Grandfather’s house away!
We would not stop
For doll or top,
For ‘t is Thanksgiving Day.Over the river, and through the wood,
Oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes,
And bites the nose,
As over the ground we go.Over the river, and through the wood,
With a clear blue winter sky,
The dogs do bark,
And children hark,
As we go jingling by.Over the river, and through the wood,
To have a first-rate play —
Hear the bells ring
Ting a ling ding,
Hurra for Thanksgiving day!Over the river, and through the wood —
No matter for winds that blow;
Or if we get
The sleigh upset
Into a bank of snow.Over the river, and through the wood,
To see little John and Ann;
We will kiss them all,
And play snowball,
And stay as long as we can.Over the river, and through the wood,
Trot fast my dapple gray!
Spring over the ground,
Like a hunting-hound,
For ‘t is Thanksgiving day!Over the river, and through the wood,
And straight through the barnyard gate;
We seem to go
Extremely slow,
It is so hard to wait.Over the river, and through the wood —
Old Jowler hears our bells;
He shakes his pow, [sic]
With a loud bow-wow,
And thus the news he tells.Over the river, and through the wood —
When Grandmother sees us come,
She will say, Oh dear,
The children are here,
Bring a pie for every one.Over the river, and through the wood —
Now Grandmothers cap I spy!
Hurra for the fun!
Is the pudding done?
Hurra for the pumpkin pie! This was actually a poem by Lydia Maria Child. The poem appeared in “Flowers for Children, ” 1844. Happy Thanksgiving.
Even though it’s actually a Christmas song, we used to just do the first couple of stanzas just to make it for Thanksgiving.

Oodie, sounds like you and hubs will be the life of the party. Have a great time.
-
Good morning in S. California as I type I have a great view of the Mountains.
Hubby and I went walking yesterday just to take in the air.Taci I will visit like I did in the past but I go all over. Covid and the cancer treatments
stop a lot of things now I am getting back on track.Happy Trails To You.
Glad you are feeling better.
-
Sheba, Your view sounds awesome! Glad you are enjoying your Mom, family and Mountains.
Hope the weather is holding up.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!♥ -
Have a great da y and then some. I know you will miss your mom as I know I will also. Enjoy the day and let us know how having someone else cook for a change fekt, I am glad that the three of you are starting to feel better. If there is a next time for flying somewhere, I suggest you mask up. Breathing the same air for hours, not a good thing. Especially with the different varieties of Covid.
I guess the same could also be said for cruises. Anyway, just be thankful that you are feeling better and can get out and hike wherever the two feet take you. Have a great time. -
Happy Thanksgiving Taci
Wishing a festive day to you and your family with great food and lots 9f blessings.
Take care -
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Enjoy your “have someone else cook” dinner, we are doing the same. I’m making a couple extra sides so there will be plenty to eat with leftovers. Thanks for being a friend.

Wishing you and your family a great Thanksgiving. I love your idea of a chicken.. However I usually can find a turkey between 12and 15 pounds. Not sure if I will do one this year. Found out just before I left v for the rehab that the workers will be here Friday. They will be inside this time and to think I have a hair appointment.. Oh well. This will soon pass. Oh Costco gas on Monday was$2.89. Yesterday it was $2.84. Sheetz gas will stay at $1.99 thru Monday.

Let It Roll off Our Back
One of the most difficult challenges in life is learning not to take things to heart and hold on to it. Especially when we’re younger, or if we’re very sensitive, we take so much of what comes our way to heart. This can be overwhelming and unproductive if it throws us off balance on a regular basis. When we are feeling criticized or attacked from all directions, it becomes very difficult for us to recover ourselves so that we can continue to speak and act our truth. This is when we would do well to remember the old saying about letting certain things roll off us, like water off a duck’s back.
When we are criticized or attacked it is important to not take it into our heart space.
Most of the time, the attacks and criticisms of others have much more to do with them and how they are feeling than with us. If we get caught up in trying to adjust ourselves to other people’s negative energy, we lose touch with our core. In fact, in a positive light, these slings and arrows offer us the opportunity to strengthen our core sense of self, and to learn to dodge and deflect other people’s misdirected negativity. The more we do this, the more we are able to discern what belongs to us and what belongs to other people. With practice, we become masters of our energetic integrity, refusing to serve as targets for the disowned anger and frustration of the people around us.
Eventually, we will be able to hear the feedback that others have to offer, taking in anything that might actually be constructive, and releasing that which has nothing to do with us. First, though, we tend ourselves compassionately by recognizing when we can’t take something in from the outside without hurting ourselves. This is when we make like a duck, shaking it off and letting it roll off our back as we continue our way in the world.

Rocky Mountain High
Song by John Denver… He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Coming home to a place he’d never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
… When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hanging by a song
But the string’s already broken and he doesn’t really care
It keeps changing fast and it don’t last for long
… But the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullaby
Rocky Mountain high (Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
… He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept the memory
… Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
… And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
Talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
… Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
While they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land
… And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
I know he’d be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky Mountain high
… Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody’s high
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)

Good afternoon in Florida. I am so glad you are doing better and thank you again for such
a sweet post. I am staring at the mountains from the view I have.My mother and I will spend another day together just getting caught up my mom had
not see me through all my cancer and treatments I wanted her to see I was all in one piece.
I feel so good just being here with family it has been so long. I still mask up around family.I hope you and your husband have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
Sending healing vibes to you.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
I am writing you from Colorado near
the Mountains and they are beautiful the most precious thing is my mom.Oodie I did read your post and it’s very sad when it comes to family. I am so sorry it’s
like that. I would have loved your father I like when fathers can always make you smile
even in difficult times.I wish you could be here with me and my family warning it can get loud and that is due
to Football. Colorado will snow on Friday I hope to be back in OZ by Sunday fingers cross.
I spent some time with my sister who is still cancer free. In my family cancer is very personal.I am missing my father but when I see my siblings I can see our father and mother.
My husband is relaxing and looking forward to turkey day. We have not left Kansas in
a few years Covid and cancer and my father’s health was the reason.Oodie how is your husband doing now? I hope all goes well during his medical procedure.
My heart and prayers are with you both.I will check back in later to see how you
are doing I hope you get your hair done and anything that makes you feel good. -
I have a cousin who thinks that actors, doctors, lawyers.and anyone who is rich and famous are the ones to be friends with. My dad’s father passed at a young age. Consequently, when it came time for college he could not take his first choice which was advertising and living in New York where the jobs were plentiful. Instead he chose a two year course in pharmacy to help support his mom and a very young sister. He had an older brother who was a pharmacist so once he graduated he had a job waiting in the wings. Both brothers helped their family. I never told the family member this story because it would have gone on deaf ears and hurt tremendously. And there are others like her. My husband was a social worker who later became a Regional Director.he actually wanted to be a physician, but the schooling was too long and unaffordable. Like my dad, he is always smiling. Makes you laugh and can impersonate many people. I never know who he may be when I am with him. He plays all or should I say, many instruments by ear only. The rehab had a get together last week and people came up to both of us and asked if he played professionally. That put a smile on both of our faces. And this has helped him quite a bit.
Last night, as I was leaving , I noticed a huge invitation to their feast on Thursday. I will sign up today so I can be with hubby. This invite went out to family and friends.so instead of making a turkey with all the fixings on Turkey day, I will make one for the weekend. I will probably pick everything up following the hair appointment on Friday. I will purchase loose carrots, bok choy.honeydew melon cut into squares, sweet kpotatoes, and also squash. May find other ideas as I go. I normally make my own cranberry relish, but this market makes one also and it’s the same recipe. So, one less thing to cook and put together.
I did make it to Costco. One of the items I purchased was a fleece throw. It is huge . his roommate fell in love with it, so I will pick one up for him. Going to stand in a gas line there so shopping will be a pleasure. At least both guys will cuddle under something warm and cozy.
I absolutely love Colorado. Enjoyed the mountains where there was snow on the ground the middle of summer. So much snow in fact that we started a snowball fight and somehow or other people joined us. It was delightful. So many wonderful memories. By the way, did you fly or drive??
Just noticed the time. Need to go. Enjoy your time in Colorado. By the way, when you speak with your son, is there a way for you to do facetims?? If so, ask him to bring Poppy to the phone. He will be able to see you and either whine or bark a greeting. Have seen this online and it is so cute.
-
Oodie, Wishing you and your husband a very happy thanksgiving.
Sorry you have to deal with a cousin like that but you are not alone. Your cousin is absolutely wrong in her perception. Yes, I could tell you stories…. And we all know about what goes on in Hollywood. I tried to explain to someone how the perception versus reality is so different the further away you live from it.
I’ll take a decent, honest, person with integrity over anyone. -
Good morning in California from Colorado.
Taci I hope you and your family
are feeling better.I feel so much better seeing my family I needed this so bad.
Hey Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Trails.
-
Sheba, I am so happy you are in Colorado with your family. It has been so long for you!

I am so happy for you, spending this Thanksgiving filled with love with your mother and members of your family.
Have a wonderful time with everyone.
Here’s wishing you and your family a marvelous Thanksgiving.
Take care Sheba -
My mother was resting today and I spent the entire day in her luxury bedroom.
I don’t care if her room was a one room shack that is my mom and I so enjoyed
being with her. All the family is getting together and I saw more family members
since pre covid. Xango it’s been a very long five years dealing with one thing and another.I feel blessed to have made it here safe. I did mask up and we are all being careful.
I am glad you are smiling you are making me smile.
I do want to wish you and your
husband a very happy Thanksgiving and if all you have is a bowl of cereal that would be
fine too. -
Good afternoon Oodie I am in Colorado and I will post every day I will be in OZ
by the weekend. WE made it safely. My son is tending to the cats and Poppy broke my heart to leave him.
I hope everything turns out alright for your husband.
Oodie I will check back in later tonight.
-
I will go now and read it. I hope everything will work out for you and your husband.
Oodie you deserve a break.
-
Congratulations. How wonderful it must feel to not only see your mom, but your siblings also. Have a wonderful reunion. It will be the best Thanksgiving. I left a message in yesterday’s thread.
-
That is a very good price for gas. Average here right now is $3.67. But – not sure if you’ve ever heard of a convenience store named Sheetz. In honor of Thanksgiving, they are selling gas this week for $1.99.
I wonder how quickly they will sell out.
-
Gas in so ca $5.50.
Oodie, read your post about this morning. Glad it all worked out for your hubs. -
-
Sheba, Yay! Happy for you to get to Colorado and visit your family. Hope your Mom’s bed is big!
Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels. -
I am tired but happy. Everyone is getting prepared I will help with some food.
I hope your son is doing better sending healthy vibes to you all.
Thank you for being so supportive.
-
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. I am in Colorado right now.
Will check back and we will be looking at the game.
Thank you for being so kind.
-
Yay, yay, yay!!!! I am thrilled you are with your mom and family.
That makes my Thanksgiving, for sure. Have a super wonderful time.
Watching the game right now – KC just scored!
Hugs!

$1.99 for gas. Yes, on the way North or South we see LUV, Pilot and Sheetz. Each one of those three try to outdo the other. But, $1.99 for gas. What a treat. Those traveling near and far will remember this holiday for years to come. Our gas last week was between $3.15 & $3.23. Seeing something under $3 is a blessing. I needed to fill up at Costco, but the lines were quite long and I needed to be home for two businesses that didn’t show. I will venture out today for gas and to pick up the fresh veggies I need for the turkey and everything else. I will be having Thanksgiving with hubby at the Rehab. They have invited family members to the holiday turkey feast. Guess I will do mine either Friday or over the weekend. I was surprised to see that Costco still had everything I needed and then some. Last year they ran out of everything two weeks prior. Oh, I picked up a Sherpa blanket for hubby. It was so cute to see him cuddle underneath That rehab has freezing temps. His roommate loved the blanket. I will pick up one for him as well. Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Easy
Song by Commodores – Lionel Ritchie… Know it sounds funny
But I just can’t stand the pain
Girl, I’m leaving you tomorrow
Seems to me, girl
You know I’ve done all I can
You see, I begged, stole, and I borrowed, yeah, ooh
… That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning
That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning
… Why in the world would anybody put chains on me, yeah?
I’ve paid my dues to make it
Everybody wants me to be
What they want me to be
I’m not happy when I try to fake it, no, ooh
… That’s why I’m easy (yeah)
I’m easy like Sunday morning, yeah
That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning
… I wanna be high, so high

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Oodie I am so glad your husband’s
medical testing is tomorrow and not on Thanksgiving Day. This gives you some time
for you.Oodie I have a lot going on plus December is coming up and I have an appointment
with many doctors I just want it one and done.I know your food will be very good. I can’t wait until the surgery is over and your husband
is home with you. Oodie I will keep you posted on my plans.Thank you for understanding me I appreciate it and I appreciate you and all you do.
I hope you are getting some much needed rest.
-
I do know how you feel. Some people rush to make judgments when they do not know who you are or who you represent. This also spills over to the show hosts and the models. So, you are not alone. I have the same feeling with family. I wish we were all close knit as yours is, but, unfortunately will go on deaf ears. My family is quick to judge based on who your parents are. In my case my dad was a pharmacist. Not a lawyer or a doctor. Nor was he wealthy. But what he had was more. He was altruistic. Kind hearted. Always smiled even when things weren’t going his way. And the way I see it, it’s there loss. Not yours. Oops, I didn’t think people worked on Sunday. I’ll be back shortly.
I thought I was hearing mice trying to get through our vents. Instead, the vent people are back repairing our A/C. I just asked him to help me with the bottom shelf of the frig. You need to take the glass a part for thorough cleansing. The Clean Boss worked wonders. No scratch marks. The frig looks just like the day it was brought in. Too bad I could not locate the manual or find the info on line right away. Guess that’s how things go sometimes.
Last night I was too tired to cook, so I ordered pizza delivery. Turned out I received two pizzas and a salad. Had to make a phone call and the extras are mine at no extra charge. Guess the person who also ordered out didn’t get theirs’. Hubby will have a feast later.
Hubby’s appointment is for 7:30 am tomorrow. At 8 am the phone rang as a reminder for that appointment. Woke me out of a sound sleep thinking it was the Rehab. I will notify them tomorrow to contact Rehab for the time to arrive next Monday for the surgery. I will have my cell and Kindle with me and will let you know how things go. Just so thankful how everyone has has my back during this difficult time.
Hubby does have scabies. I was afraid of this. Two weeks ago when this started again I was told it wasn’t Scabies, but part of the last episode. Hmm….As things became worse during last week, I started speaking up. Friday they started on some cream that went all over his body. Yesterday morning he had a shower and his bed was supposed to be made with new linen. I also asked that the mattress be vacuumed. I have no idea if they followed through. I will do this today when I am there. I also have a bug spray that not only kills the bugs but also the eggs. I have a feeling that the surgery may be cancelled if any of the nurses see the bites on his back and front even though they will be gone by then. But, it’s going through the testing and if that can’t be done…….oh well.
Just continue to be who you are and though people will say things to hurt you, let it be. Guess they have nothing better to do than to judge and pass a verdict without knowing the person. It’s difficult, but let it go in one ear and out the other. I’ve been doing this for years and yes, it hurts. A lot. But I try not to show it. They are the ones who are missing out. On that note, have a great day and a wonderful Thanksgiving week. Your upcoming doctor events I know you will pass with flying colors. But, unfortunately, we all have to wait and see and go through the variuos tests and exams before we can breathe a final relief. Losing friends and family during the season is very heartbreaking. More so during this time. Thankfully, you are not alone, but you still feel the heartbreak. Just take a deep breath.,Remember the good times. Contact your nieces and nephews and let them know they are not alone.Call your stepmom. At Thanksgiving put a chair at the table for those you lost. It will give you a feeling of their presence knowing that they are with you. I have done this and in someways it is so very helpful.
-
I want to address your post tomorrow. I don’t like how family treat family.
The way you write about your father is so beautiful I can feel the special bond
you two had.Always remember that in your heart.
-
Oodie, thinking of you and your hubs test tomorrow.
-
I want to wish your husband and you good luck with all his testing tomorrow in preparation for next week.
I will be thinking of you all day and, of course, saying prayers.
Hang in there, friend.
-
@Sheba2011y
Hi Sheba, TACI and Shoelady. I am home. What a morning. I arrived at the hospital about 7:15 am and completed some paperwork prior. Hubby was not there at the time. 7:30 rolled in and still no sign of hubby. 7:45 and where is he??? So I made a call to the head nurse/unit mgr. I explained that I tried to reach him on Saturday but his phone was not accepting voice mail. Guess he wanted a weekend to himself and family. So today I reached him He was in shock since he had a different day. You really needed to hear the coice mail several times before your realize that it is not on the 23rd, but the 20th. Hubby showed up about 45 minutes late, and they took him at that time. From that point on there were no problems. I did contact the head nurse again to say hubby was ready. I will receive call Friday for the time he needs to be at the hospital. Unfortunately the staff could not change our phone to the one in Rehab.
-
You need to start collecting a salary for running the rehab facility. They should be thanking you for all you do, geez Louise!! So happy your husband got through all the tests.
Will continue praying through next week that all goes well.
Sure hope the rehab will be history real soon.
-
Good morning in S. California. Oh how sweet to post last night. I appreciate you understanding
me. I am not trying to make a mole into a mountain so to speak so I will leave it at that.I do work hard on this thread Taci each and every day I’ve always said most people like to
look and of course some are curious. We are both Leos so we can read each other. LOL!
Taci I am sorry you still a little bit under the weather. I think the hike was great for you.
I post pics of things that make me and hopefully others feel good and brings a smile to
the faces.December will be a whirlwind I will be coming and going with medical visits.
Wishing you and your family good health and a great Thanksgiving.
Happy Trails To You.
-
Sheba, Yes, we all know this thread takes time and effort and you do it wonderfully. I think we all know that person who has to be mean or negative. Even when we try to ignore them and know they are cra cra, it can still hurt.
Hike today was nice as it dried out a bit and no critters.
Thanksgiving is coming up fast. Hope you have a great one with your family.
-
I just saw your sweet note. Thank you. I will post when I have a chance to let everyone know the outcome. I did see hubby tonight and the itches seem to be gone. YEAH.. The sheets on his bed not only smelled clean, they were soft. I had to remake the bed so that he could warm up from the frosty A/C. I did bring him a few slices of pizza from the ones that were delivered last night. He loved them. Afterwards he had a yen for a chocolate cookie. They were gone and I promised to pick up some tomorrow when I make a stop at Costco. Again, thank you for thinking of us.
-
Here is something else I really like.
-
breathtaking!
-
WOW!!!!

I second whatever shoelady60 said>…….Look what dreams are made of. WOW

Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh be sure to bundle up.
OZ is chilly today and the
coats are out.Thank you for being here I appreciate it so much I don’t think I tell the girls how much
I appreciate it. Lady ten years is a long time to run a thread like this each and every day.I will do it for as long as I can I know others enjoy what I post and many as I have said in the
past just like to look and that is fine with me.Oz will be interesting on Monday Game Day.
I am wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving for you and your entire family.
Sending warm hugs to you and Jake’s Canvas.
-
Since it’s the time for thanks, thank you for the beautiful wishes and sentiment.
Right back at you, my friend, not just this week but everyday.
It is chilly but at least the sun is out.
Made some deviled eggs this morning since its been awhile. Better snack than the bag of chips. No cooking for dinner since I have pot roast leftovers.
Tomorrow’s game will be interesting. I read that Taylor cancelled her concert yesterday because of the weather and death of the fan and rescheduled for Monday. So I guess she won’t be at the game; not sure what’s happening with her parents.
Regardless, I will be watching. It should be a good one!
Hope you’re having a relaxing Sunday. Busy week ahead. Hugs to you and Poppy.
-
Thank you for your post and taking some time for me. I do hope all goes well. Actually, I am hoping that they will be able to do the testing. I am sure the itches are just about over and done with, but the whelps will still be there. Knowing the hospital staff, they may be reluctant to do anything and so will cancel. I would be surprised if everything goes as it should. Thank you for being there through thick and thin. I will post to let everyone know. One step at a time. Most of all looking forward to having breakfast with hubby. Always nice to have something to look forward to. Have a great day and hope your team wins BIG…..
-
I assume either Sheba has some problems or they are on their way to Colorado. I wish both of them a safe journey.
I am sitting here LOL over your post. My exact sentiments. Hubby said he told one of the nurses that he needed to be at the hospital for testing. It went on deaf ears until I contacted the head nurse. I cannot say it is entirely his fault. On Saturday I heard a computer giving me the date and time. All I heard at first was 23 so I assumed it was the 23rd. I do not know why I decided to hear the recording again, but when I did, I distinctly heard it was Monday. It slid over the date and then came the year. I was able to put two and two together and tried to notify the head nurse, but his cell was not accepting voice mail. I managed to tell the receptionist when I entered the rehab yesterday, but I guess it went on deaf ears. I felt lucky that they were able to take him even though he was 45 minutes late. I will be able to be with him on Monday until they take him to surgery. At that point I will be told where the waiting room is and how to navigate to other parts of the hospital. The operation may take an hour and that’s because the urology has that room for that time period. I hope and pray that everything works out for him and the catheter will be a thing of the past. Thanks again for your post. You made my day. Now to get going and to stop for gas. I’m doing a dance right now. Gas is $2.89/gal. Last time I filled up it was $3.23. What a difference two weeks make.

The Ego
The ego is simply a way for us to understand and attend to ourselves, at the same time as we understand and attend to the world around us.
In most spiritual circles, the ego gets a pretty bad rap. The reason for this is that the ego, to some extent, is the principle in our psyches that separates us from one another, while spirit is the principle that shows us that no such separation exists. Sometimes the ego is depicted as an almost demonic figure that keeps us from realizing our true nature. But at its most basic, the ego is simply a tool that helps us organize the various aspects of our personality so that we can function in the world. In this sense, the ego is simply a way for us to understand and attend to ourselves at the same time as we understand and attend to the world around us. The ego is a tool that we use to navigate the world.
Perhaps the problem is that the ego sometimes gets out of control. This happens when the higher self loses control of the psyche. The psyche then falls under the leadership of the ego, an entity that was never meant to lead. The ego is meant to be definitively in the service of the higher self. When this relationship is functioning, the ego is a useful intermediary representing the whole self but not thinking that it is the whole self. Then, it is almost as if the ego is the self playfully pretending to be the separate entity called “I.” Like an actor, the ego plays the roles that the world asks us to play in order to be part of the program. In this way, the ego can be a tool enabling us to be in the world but not of it.
As long as we are in touch with our higher selves, our egos are not a threat. They are simply useful tools in the service of spirit. We keep our egos in check when we continually nurture our awareness of who we really are. Then our egos are free to serve without trying ineffectually to rule. It is healthy to have ego, but like all things in life, ego functions best when it is in balance and harmony with your whole self. Amen!

“Beyond The Sea” Bobby Darin
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waitin’ for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailin’Somewhere beyond the sea
She’s there watchin’ for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms, I’d go sailin’It’s far beyond a star
It’s near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soonWe’ll meet beyond the shore
We’ll kiss just as before
Happy we’ll be beyond the sea
And never again I’ll go sailin’I know beyond a doubt, ah!
My heart will lead me there soonWe’ll meet, I know we’ll meet beyond the shore
We’ll kiss just as before
Happy we’ll be beyond the sea
And never again I’ll go sailin’No more sailin’
So long, sailin’
Bye bye, sailin’
Move on out, captain
So long… -

Good morning in your corner of the world I am wishing you and your family a great
Thanksgiving Weekend and especially the actual day. -
Good afternoon in beautiful Florida. Xango I understood every word you wrote yesterday.
As I said my heart goes out to you.I so wish we could sit down and have some of your
fresh bread and coffee and lets not forget the butter.Hey take your time to heal I understand the pain and not being used to feeling like you do.
Xango as I mentioned December is the one that will affect me. I have lost family on Christmas
Day and the month of December so it is a bittersweet month for me.I am sending gentle hugs to you and I do appreciate you so much.
-
@Sheba
Good afternoon Sheba,
I woke up to a beautiful sunny day and by noon it’s started to become cloudy.
The last few days has been cloudy, and sometimes there’s a drizzling rain.Brazil is having a heat wave in some parts and in other areas lots of rain. Raining day after day, in some areas flooding. However, up North drought, so dry cattle is dying.
Taylor Swift canceled her concert in Rio after a fan died. The inside of the place was 140 degrees , they tried to provide water to the people. But so many people attending her concert, I think it’s quiet impossible to provide water to everyone.
Enjoy your weekend Sheba. -
Good evening and I hope you are feeling somewhat better tonight.
Thank you for the real reason Taylor Swift concert was cancelled. My goodness
that is hot and dangerous if someone should pass out.I have pics of some of her fans in my neighborhood so I know her concerts are great.
I have been a fan from years. Monday will be a busy day in OZ.Thank you for posting today I am praying you get well soon. Xango you are on my
mind. I have a lot going on so I am a little out of sorts right now which is very rare.December is breathing down my back and that is when I see all the Specialist and have
the 3-D Mammogram. No stone will be left unturned. It is what it is. I thank you for
always asking me how I am doing. I have also lost many relatives in the past few years
in the month of December as well as on Christmas Day I lost four on Christmas Day in
the last five years. I will try not to show how I really feel. I try to remain calm and peaceful.Thank you for being a friend.
I think Colorado will have snow too.
Rest well and sweet dreams.
-
Just take it easy and then some. Maybe think about having a turkey take out with all the fixings and have it delivered. Don’t push yourself. Just remember the old cliche that Rome was not built in a day. As we age, it does take longer to heal. But when you start feeling better, it seems like months ago you were starting the road to recovery. Just do what you can.
-
Good Afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie you did have a heck of a day yesterday.
I am glad there is an understanding between you and the head nurse about your husband
upcoming surgery. I feel you need all the support you can get.I know what it is like to be so busy there is hardly any me time. I think when things are back
to somewhat normal for you and hubby things will be right as rain.I am hoping and praying all the medical procedures and rehab will help him get home.
Wishing you a nice Thanksgiving Week and you always have a fresh turkey. Gobble, gobble!
A little tea with your Manuka Honey will soothe the soul.
-
I forgot to mention that if you leave on a Sunday there are no construction problems. Seems it’s a day off.
Safe travels. Don’t forget boots and warm coat just in case. That goes for the both of you. Enjoy your trip and someone should take a picture of your mom’s face when she sees you. It’s been a long time coming. It will be good for all to be with family again. Enjoy
-
Plans are up in the air on which day I will let you know. I am sorry about a post that may
affect you but I have to say what is on my mind. I don’t bother anyone in our community.People really don’t care for me I am cool with that just leave my blog alone.
I spend hours coming of with things that will interest people. If you want to talk one person
than make a thread for it. I will not be ignored for something I have worked
hard on for over ten years no matter how bad I felt or what death or illness I was dealing with.I was told I am not their cup of tea and hey I am fine with that. Hence, the reason I made my
own thread. I love you Oodie and I am fine with whoever you feel comfortable with.I was very surprise they felt that way toward me so I don’t feel comfortable with them on
my thread. Not cool! I don’t like drama so this is all I will say. -
Had a phone call from the hospital today. I goofed on the date. It’s Monday he goes for the tests at 7 am. I will definitely try to be there and then take him to the cafeteria following for breakfast. If they are not opened I do have a Plan B.
I decided to clean the frig today. The manual is somewhere, but not handy for me to find. This is what happens when everything is thrown into a box and forgotten until you need it. I went on You Tube and there was nothing to tell me how to remove the bins on the door. It took me hours to figure it out and it was so easy. The shelves just slide out. No lifting. And I used Clean Boss. Everything looks brand new.
I do not think I will attempt to see hubby tonight. I just figured out that he could be home as early as two weeks from now. I ordered another Stearns & Foster and will contact someone to redo our bed frame. I asked for delivery around the 7th of December. The old mattress will go in the second bedroom along with the box spring. Since I have a steamer will use it for cleaning the mattress prior to the removal.
Tomorrow, definitely to Costco. Will try to get there early because they will be real busy being it’s just prior to Turkey day. I think I will also make winter melon soup instead of the traditional turkey one. The honeydew melon really gives it the extra flavor. This is our first Thanksgiving ever that we are a part. Hanukkah is the 7th and the best present will be that hubby is home or is homeward bound. Wow, what a celebration that will be.
Please drive carefully. Hope there are no construction sights to make your trip longer than it should be. I know you may not be taking Poppy due to the crowds and family events. He will miss you and may be at the door looking for you two. This is one time when a cell phone camera comes in handy at both ends to say hello.
Well, back to work I go. Nice that xango was able to pop in. I was so concerned.
Enjoy the rest of your evening and your walk with Poppy.
-
I am so glad your husband’s test are on a Monday.
I could not figure out the
Thanksgiving angle I don’t know of any kind of test being done during a Holiday
unless you are in the ER.I think now you and hubby can enjoy your Thanksgiving.
I will be thinking of you both
on that day and I hope everything is a success.Oodie I apologize for being so somewhat out of it like I said I have a lot going on.
Oodie everyone loves you and I think that’s a wonderful thing. Feelings about me not so much and I am cool with that.
-
@oodiebom:
Oodie: Have you tried tea tree oil yet? https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321335~DEFG
-
Funny you should ask. I have quite a bit of that oil. One is in our medicine chest. It’s oil in a small jar with a stopper. I also have tea tree oil soap. Are you implying that is good for the itches???? If it is, there is no way I can use it in Rehab. I carry Benedryl and Chlor Tabs with me and if I gave him one of those pills for the itches or both, I would be told off and asked to leave. They are that emphatic.
-
Someone said they don’t care for me and I said they made me uncomfortable.
This is my thread diary please respect.I am going through some things right now and this is not fair to me.
Enjoy your evening and Happy Thanksgiving.
-
Sheba, very sorry to hear someone was rude to you on your thread. I didn’t catch anything so maybe the post was removed? Anyways, you are da bomb, da best and really the most tasteful, fashionable, thoughtful, talented poster on all threads HSN.
Sorry someone brought some negative energy to this beautiful thread.Love you!!!
and the girls always.I would add emoji’s but I am still resting a bit from being sick.
-
Did you go to the link? Tea tree oil is listed as the #1 remedy for itching. I don’t understand. If you put that oil on your husband’s itchy areas, why would they give you a hard time?! I don’t follow.. ALSO ->>
Scabies is spread BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE IT — Like the people in that place that he comes in contact with every day.“Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil may help to relieve some of the symptoms of scabies.
Tea tree oil is a well-known essential oil. In some studiesTrusted Source, it has shown some promise as being effective in the treatment of scabies. Additional studies are still needed, however.Tea tree oil can help alleviate some of the itchiness associated with scabies, in addition to other treatments.
The oil has not been found to be effective against the eggs that are buried deep within the skin.
Some people are allergic to tea tree oil. People who are allergic should not use tea tree oil for scabies and should find an alternative method.”

Sheba, Today was indeed a great day to get outside and hike. It’s nice to be outside although I do think I should join the gym from time to time. One of my good friends works out with a trainer and has for the past year or 2. She is a survivor.
I sincerely hope you are doing ok, especially with December coming upon you.
Sending you love and positive vibes. -
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh sending you a Saturday Shout Out.

Love your plans for the holiday with your family. I think it is perfect especially
with the home-made sides.Oz is chilly tonight I made sure all my cats were fed I wish I could bring them in.
Lady they will not come in all they want is the food. -
Good morning in California and may this day find you and yours doing very well for this
Thanksgiving Season. -
Empowering Feminine Energy
What makes a woman confident is her ability to call upon her feminine wisdom.
So often in our world we tend to think of strength as a quality that arises from a place of firm determination and a will to succeed no matter the cost. Even though we might want to think of a strong woman as being defined in this way, what really makes a woman confident is her capacity for listening to her true self and being able to call upon her feminine wisdom to any situation that may arise. A woman does not need to step into an assertive role or act like a man in order to be effective at what she does — she simply needs to get in touch with her insight and sense of compassion to truly demonstrate the depth of her strength.
Listening to the feminine side of ourselves may not seem easy at first for this type of energy is something that is often overlooked in many aspects of our everyday lives. If we can connect with this part of who we are, however, we will find that there is an unlimited wellspring of strength available to us. Our capacity to tap into our intuition and listen to our inner guides, to take into account the needs of those around us, and to view a situation with compassion and love are ways that we can show the world the true power that is part of our feminine nature. When we learn to integrate this source of strength into our daily tasks and decision-making, we will find that we can be more flexible and open to the things that happen around us and more receptive to new ideas. Not only will we see the world in a different light, but we will truly start to realize the potential for this form of energy to both empower ourselves and those around us.
As we cultivate our feminine energy we can redefine the meaning of strength. By embracing our feminine power as something that is strong in its own right, we are able to use it with true assurance and determination and draw upon what truly belongs to us. AMEN!

Good morning in sunny Florida. Xango I hope you are feeling better today.
If you still need to heal after your fall just take it easy.I miss hearing about your home-made bread and I hope you have some in the freezer
so your husband can heat it up for you. Just giving you a Friday Shout Out.Get well soon dear friend.
-
Xango, hope you are up and around soon. Sorry your aren’t feeling well.
-
@Sheba
And @ OodiebomI am sorry to have caused you ladies such concern, I am still recovering.
sheba, how have you been?
It finally rain here after not having rain for several weeks. Nothing major, no pour down more like drizzle one day. And the other following day a gentle rain.
I must admit I have been feeling really down and depressed. I know this will pass and get better, but I do ( for a lack of better words) hate being this way.
I don’t have much to write about, so I’ll not be writing often.A snake tried to get into the house through the patio door the other day. Hubby screamed and practically had an attack. He’s extremely scared of snakes. I was on the sofa and couldn’t imagine what was going on.
Here’s wishing you and Oodiebom a Blessed Thanksgiving and Holiday Season. Full with bountiful of health, filled with joy.
-
I am so sorry you are feeling that much under the weather. My heart goes out to you.
Xango you are one of the sweetest people in our community and I love the banter between

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie I hope you have a nice visit with
your husband today. Do bring good eats as he seem to have a nice appetite.Oodie reading from your posts you and your husband have had a good life of fun and travel.
I hope you both are able to go on a Cruise with no issues. I am referring to the C word. The house seems to be coming along but a re-do of the kitchen I don’t know.
Oodie being the Thanksgiving Season be careful as all the hot spots for shopping will be
packed.Let me know how things go today for you and hubby and I hope there are
no surprises as far as his procedure goes I mean no issues to deal with. This has a New England feel.
-
What a day this has been. I contacted the Wildlife experts and they will be out here Monday in the afternoon. These are people that have helped us for at least two or three years. The Vapor Barrier people have been asked to be here as well. There isn’t one day next week that I will be able to sleep late. Just hope there will be on interference to keep me from seeing hubby.
I was at the Rehab in time for dinner and as I past the Nurse’s station I was told he was in the dining room. I hurried to his room where I could leave two bags of clean laundry and an overnight bag with Kindle and a new Amazon Electronic toy for hubby. Rushed to the dining room only to find empty table and chairs. One of the workers mentioned he was outside and had not eaten. I rushed to the lanai and saw him through the window. He was sitting in front of a doorway to the dining room. No one thought to bring him indoors. No one thought to tell the Aides that he was outside. He was barefoot. Socks were in his coat pocket. I felt he needed dinner before putting the socks on. Went to the dining room where we waited at least 10/15 minutes and no food. Went back to his room and as I passed the nurse’s station saw the head nurse and mentioned what happened. He was livid. About 20 minutes later he arrived with tray in hand and hubby had a feast. He ate everything on his plate and then I went to the cookie drawer and brought out what was left. Tomorrow Costco for sure.
Last night was a nightmare for hubby. The nurse on duty refused to give him Benedryl or lotion for the itch. Said she needed the doctor’s OK. So hubby didn’t get much sleep, yet he had tons of energy when he was with me. The head nurse had cream for the itch which he gently rubbed on prior to bedtime. Tomorrow he will have a special shower in the morning. Hopefully, he will be completely healed prior to surgery.
When I was getting ready to leave, the head nurse returned and we had a discussion. He now understood why the surgery is necessary. I am hoping that he can return to some type of normalcy. He will spend at least an overnight at the hospital. Not sure if more than that will be needed. He will return to rehab for at least a week to make sure he can go to the bathroom without pain. I am hoping that the surgery will be successful.
There isn’t one day next week that I will have time for ME. Monday the wildlife expert will be here in the afternoon along with our Vapor Barrier people. Tuesday and Wednesday the Electrician and Plumber. I am hoping that I will be able to purchase a fresh turkey. Thursday is gobble gobble day and also the pretests prior to surgery the following Monday. I cannot believe that they are testing Thanksgiving Day. He has to be at the hospital at 7am. I will try to make it and afterward will take him to the cafeteria for breakfast. I just hope they are opened.
Friday is a ME day. Trim, color etc..It’s almost time for the weekend. Drive carefully if you are heading out. Wish you were taking Poppy. He will be missing you and hurting until your return. I love the mountains in Colorado. I just hope that the weather is in your favor so you can at least enjoy a day or two in the mountain air.

Oodie, you and your hubs have seen some lovely places in Asia. Sounds like it was a great time and good memories. Your $2.00 dinner is a great experience. Prices were much higher on our trip.
Wanted to let you know that I am experiencing some issues with Aldi’s as well. The fruit and veggies seem old. My apples had lots of brown spots, and the sweet potatoes grew something moldie. Anyways, I am being cautious with my purchases there. My hubs loves it and buys a lot of items for his smoothies.
Hope you have a great weekend. -
Good morning in S. California I was so glad to hear you went on a nice Hike.
I knew you would bounce back. Oz is very cool today and I am wearing my Iris Apfel
Jacket for a long walk with Poppy.I have my hands full today. How is your son doing?
Bravo for having your meal prepared from a nice restaurant and adding your favorites.
I feel with only three people that is a good way to go.I would just eat and enjoy
the day and I am sure you will hike after that.Hey Happy Trails To You.
-
Sheba, Hiking again and very happy about it. Today I went early and huffed and puffed up the trail. I slipped in thick mud (from the rains a few times) and only fell once on the steeper down hill side. Needed to get in my hike before the next rain. Saw 1 Coyote crossing the trail on the way out. My son is super busy at work and still a bit sick. Tomorrow I may venture up to his section of the house to access cleaning needs.
How are you doing? Those bedroom pictures and places you want to go all look so perfect.
Wishing you and yours an early Happy Thanksgiving. -

Hey bundle up baby it’s cold out there.
Wishing you a great weekend and I am sending warm greetings to you and Jake’s Canvas.
-
Happy Friday to you. Rainy afternoon here, I had to turn the lights on in the kitchen because it’s so dreary.
Can’t believe that game last night.
I didn’t go last month and they won. I go yesterday and they lose after a five game winning streak. Guess it must be me and I should stay away.
Monday night football is looking real interesting in your area. I read (if it’s true) that Taylor is bringing her parents to the game because they are Eagles fans and will meet his family for the first time. Love is in the air!
Ratings should be high and replay of the Super Bowl.
SIL allowed to drive and wear a shoe.
She is so happy to get off the couch. Her and hubs went out for a celebration lunch today. Keeping fingers crossed
and praying
you finally get to see your family.
Hugs and kisses to you and Poppy.

I think this game will be really good I like Mama Kelce and she will love his new Mansion.
Wishing you a nice warm evening.

The Good In All
We need to encourage ourselves to look deeply into all things in our lives to see the inherent goodness of everything.
Sometimes we find it difficult to see the good in people, places, or situations that aren’t to our liking. We focus on the things we don’t like in our lives as a way of fueling our efforts to create change. There is nothing inherently wrong with this, and it is one way we make progress. However, if we get too caught up in this way of looking at the world, we lose touch with our ability to sit back and simply say yes to everything on our plates, which is the true starting point for all successful activity. Sometimes what we really need is to encourage ourselves to look deeply into all things in our lives to see the inherent goodness at the heart of everything.
At the core of this inquiry is the practice of unconditional acceptance, which can be scary because we feel as if we are being asked not to change the things we don’t like. But when we think this way, we are still operating on the surface of our lives. In order to feel the beauty and warmth of full acceptance, we have to be willing to sink deeper into the stratum underlying the external manifestation of our lives. This deeper place of being is the origin of all lasting change, yet its paradox is that when we are in it, we often don’t feel the need to change anything. From this place, we experience the pure beauty of the process of being alive, and we see that all things change in their own time. We don’t need to force anything. If there are things that we do need to change, from this place of serenity we create the shift easily, our hands guided by an energy that resides at the very center of our hearts.
In our active, goal-oriented culture, we learn to distrust stillness and to engage in busywork on the surface of life. This tendency can blind us to the good that lies at the heart of all things. But all we have to do to see again is stop for a moment, let go of our preconceptions and our agendas, and settle into the very center of our hearts, remembering that it is only from here that we can truly see. AMEN!

Good Afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
I hope your visit today with your
husband will go well and he have a good meal.In reading your post I am getting feelings about the place he is in. Oodie keep your ears
and eyes open. I am wishing and praying for the best.I hope things are getting wrapped up around the house. Oodie this has been a long
journey with the storm and hubby being in Rehab.Remember when my neighbor went to Greece and had her fall well she left in early May
and did not return to her home until some time in August she is up and going great.
Hey she said she can’t to return to Greece.Oodie wishing you a good shopping day let me know how things goes.
-
Oodie, I will look forward to hearing about your future travels, especially Asia. I have never been to an Asian Country.
Sorry about the scabies, no excuse for it at all. You might report the issue to the governing Health Agencies and Medicare but sadly my experience with this did not yield results. All they do is an inspection and possible fine if the issue is not resolved upon a future inspection and the Gov Agencies who manage these places were not responsive. How did you buy the Aldi’s tomato sauce? Was it a fresh sauce or a glass jar on the shelf?
Hope you continue to feel better. -
I tried to post during the time I was with hubby, but ran into a snag and gave up. Hubby was good tonight and he did remember our conversation from yesterday. He is still very itchy though the bumps are down and the color is beginning to change or should I say it is no longer red. I did say something to the nurse who is on duty and it’s a catch 22. They need to have a physician take a look and also to do a culture. Have no idea when that will occur. So, tomorrow I will again try to touch basis with the head nurse.
I arrived at the rehab just as the dinner tray was delivered. Hubby didn’t want it, though the smell was delicious. However, the look, not so good. I gave hubby two fork fulls, one of something in gravy and I have no idea what the other thing was. Suffice to say hubby snubbed his nose on this and only kept the dessert of ice cream and iced tea. So, we decided that tonight was a good time for pizza. I ordered the Hawaiian with garlic knots. Did everything on line and it arrived 45 minutes later. We were both happy. The pizza and garlic knots are gone. No leftovers.
I am beginning to feel better. The h ouse is beginning to take shape, though it is a very slow process. The men started to work under the house and found where the culprits are coming from. There is a huge nest in our crawl space and I am thinking that tenting the house may be a wuick way to get rid of the varmints. This is not due to anything we have done. It seems that everytime the A/C people check everything they do not put anything back where it belongs. Consequently, any opening is a door for the animals to go in and out. If I do tent, that would mean that everything will now have a film over it (clothes included) and I will be starting again from scratch. Anthing that has been cleaned and put away will have to be redone. Not sure if I am up to that task. Tomorrow we will make a final decision. I will be contacting both Terminix and our Wildlife people to help in the decision making. Tenting will kill everything including our indoor plants (they will go in our van or go next door). What a mess…….
-
Good Morning in S. California I think ordering your Thanksgiving Meal is a good idea.
Here in OZ you can get a full Turkey Meal with a whole pie for around 89.00 and it
feeds at least six people.I would go for something like that or your favorite place that making Thanksgiving Meals.
Taci get well soon you and your family. I hope your son is doing better.
-
Sheba, Very funny about your girls not feeling well. I missed what happened to Xango. Did she fall? Hope she is doing better.
Decided to order take away and add some other side dishes. You and Oodie called it! Thanks.
Today I hiked with a friend we haven’t seen each other for about 2 months so it was great to catch up. Tomorrow I hope to go on my own and do a longer harder hike.
Even though I need a break from Flying (due to being in the actual plane), there were improvements from last year’s airport travel as far as people processing. No one pushed into my chest at full speed, and a new escalator was added to a location that used to only have steps ( we carried our luggage up it last year). I almost feel spoiled. haha.
Hope you have a great evening. -
I am finding that the purchases at Aldi’s is becoming less and less. The tomato sauce was in a glass jar and seemed ok upon opening. It actually smelled fresh and the date on it was new and I still had time before the expiration. I have dumped all of Aldi’s tomato and spaghetti sauces. The only items I will now purchase will be refrigerated. Their fruits and veggies tend to spoil within two days even with a brand new frig. I still read all their labels due to my sulfite allergy. Cinnamon is a new one for me. I surmise that I have been spoiled by the Amish and their fresh Farmer’s Market. They have fresh and frozen turkeys for $2.99/lb without preservatives. Not sure if I will make my own or order out. It will depend upon what we end up doing to say sayonara to the varmints.
We have been very fortunate to have visited a few Asian countries. We have been to Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, China and Hong Kong. Thailand as is Hong Kong is hustle and bustle, but what a delightful place. Hubby still grimaces when I enjoy clams from the yellow sea at an outdoor market (alled Nathan’s). It’s made on an open grill and is a delight . Love the way the Asians design clothes. They take your measurements and what ever you order is ready within a few hours. Of course you have fittings along the way. Singapore is very clean. You can get arrested for littering so there are receptacles at every street corner. Taipei is the safest, though you would not see it that way. I remember the day we arrived. Had no time for any meals and by eleven at night I was starved. Hubby was already in PJs and in bed. It still was a long time to breakfast and I didn’t think I could hold out that long. Told hubby I was leaving to find food. He didn’t want me venturing out alone so got dressed again. Restaurants were closed so we decided to hike behind the hotel. Many streets leading to other avenues and side roads. All of a sudden we came across someone cooking food in a huge hibachi. The aroma permeated the area. It smelled so good that we went inside. It was a small restaurant with tables. The lady came inside (she was the chef outside) and asked if we were hungry. We nodded YES. She made us a meal to this day no one can come close to. Gave us a pitcher of beer on the house. The entire meal came to $2 for the two of us. It was her first time seeing an American and she went all out. One of her customers showed us the way back to our hotel. This particular trip was a 6 week vacation. What fun……Worse part was that the trip from beginning to end took 27-30 hours. Flight was 12-14 hours depending upon down drafts. In Taipei we were treated as king & queen. You could virtually walk anywhere and not be frightened. Hong Kong markets gave us an insight to Chinese opera. Very unusual. But the ribbon dance floored us. We never visited the theater. Why not skip it when you have it at the market. Loads of good memories. If we decide to go that route again, it will be a cruise probably from Hawaii. Of course, since our trip, things have changed and not for the better.
Hope you and your family start feeling better and are able to enjoy a great Thanksgiving.
-
Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh.
Lady good luck with your Hockey Team
tonight I am cheering for them.Enjoy the Game and the season. Oz is in full Fall force.
Sending warm hugs to you and Jake’s Canvas.
Thanksgiving greetings to your mom and sister whatever the plans are have a great time.
-
Good afternoon to you. Probably the last nice day today, rain tomorrow and getting colder over the weekend.
Spent the day at mom’s yesterday. All seems to be well. Getting ready to go have dinner before the game.
We are on a winning streak, hope it doesn’t end tonight.
We are ordering Thanksgiving dinner out and bringing home to eat.
Mom can’t handle all that cooking, sis is definitely not Martha Stewart and I don’t feel like doing it this year. Making some extra potatoes, stuffing and maybe a fruit pie to go with the pumpkin that comes with the dinner.
Will be more than enough for four people with leftovers. Will you be home or on the road?
Have a relaxing evening.
Jake sending Poppy some nose rubs.

Let me surprise you I have plans I just don’t want to say too much.
Hey your team will bounce back.
You have been such a good girl you deserve two.

Season to you and your entire family. -
Taking a Field Trip
Beginning our spirituSign your own permission slip to go on a field trip and renew your energy.
When we were children, few words were more exciting to hear than the phrase “field trip.” Field trips were a break from schoolwork and an opportunity to go on an adventure with friends. Now that we are grown ups, taking a field trip can be just as fun and memorable — if only we were willing to sign our own permission slips so we could go on one.
Allowing yourself to get stuck in your routine can make life seem boring. Adding a touch of variety to your life in the form of a field trip can break up the monotony of your days and lead you to adventure. Unlike the jaunts that were regulated by teachers or monitored by parents, taking a field trip as an adult can lead you anywhere you want. You can go on a daylong retreat or spend just a few hours at your destination. A field trip can be an opportunity to explore a new landscape or discover something about yourself. Taking a day trip to another town or visiting an unfamiliar spot in your neighborhood can be educational and fun. There is also much to be said for finding a beautiful spot under a tree where you can read a book. You can even go to one of your favorite spots and allow yourself to experience it as if you were visiting there for the first time. Going on a field trip is as much a state of mind as it is a change in the scenery.
During a “grown up” field trip, schedules, clocks, and duties are put aside so you can focus wholeheartedly on mindfully enjoying yourself. Planning a field trip can be almost as fun as going on one. A field trip is an excursion to look forward to and an experience to be savored after the fact. Wherever you decide to go and whatever you decide to do, going on a field trip can add much pleasure and excitement to your life.
