Today, we celebrate the 39th anniversary of the song “Last Christmas”. This song, was written and produced by George, released on December 3, 1984. Described as a “high mid-80’s synthpop songcraft “, “Last Christmas” spent five consecutive weeks at number two in the UK Singles Chart. It failed to reach the top of the UK charts, solidy occupied by “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, of Band Aid, a super group put together by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds to fight food shortages in Ethiopia. It’s needed to remember that, just like Bob Geldof’s song, the proceeds of “Last Christmas” were completely donated to the associations that fought the famine in Ethiopia. Thanks to the undisputed success, “Last Christmas” had for many years held the record as the highest-selling single never to top the charts, by the Official Charts Company. In 2019, a movie, called “Last Christmas”, was released. A romantic and movie comedy inspired by the homonymous song, features, “Last Christmas” song with other tracks from George and Wham!, including a previously unreleased George’s song called “This Is How (We Want You To Get High)”. I like to highlight how millions of fans never abbandoned the dream of seeing “Last Christmas” at the top of the charts. Thanks to the continues passages on the radio stations and in streaming platforms, and thanks to the excellent sales performance obtained by the soundtrack of that film, finally this dream came true! “Last Christmas” reached number one on the UK Singles Chart for the first time on January 3, 2021, 36 years after its original 1984 release. In doing so, the festive favorite song broke the record for the longest time! Well, now let’s find out together the hole story behing this song. The short story recalled by Andrew to The Mail on Sunday in 2017 helps us to understand. “Last Christmas” was written one Sunday afternoon in 1984 when George and Andrew were visiting George’s parents house, while his friend Andrew and his father were watching a football match on television. The relaxed atmosphere helped George to sneak into his old bedroom without being noticed. He returned downstairs after about an hour, with the excited expression of someone who has just discovered a gold mine! He dragged Andrew to his room, a room where the two had spent hours as boys to listen to the radio and play the keyboard by George. Thus, George sat down at the keyboard and played the intro and melancholic chorus melody of “Last Christmas”, which Andrew called “a moment of wonder”. He also said “George had performed musical alchemy, distilling the essence of Christmas into music. Adding a lyric which told the tale of betrayed love was a masterstroke and, as he did so often, he touched hearts”. A moment of wonder that promised a great classic. And in fact, thinking of the Christmas classics this one by our Wham! it is one of the very first songs that come to mind! The song was recorded in August 1984, George wrote, produced and played every single instrument on the track! Now I will reveal you some curiosities. The song was recorded in the summer. Thus, George had plastered the whole studio in Christmas decorations to set the mood. The only other people in the studio were enginer Chris Porter and two assistants. According to the Porter, lyrically “you’ve got the happiness of the rhythm track, but against that you’ve got the sadness of the unrequited love”. And then “Last Christmas” shouldn’t have been released at Christmas. When George wrote this piece, the title was “Last Easter”. He would like to release it on the occasion of Easter 1985. But, Columbia Records, the band’s record company, insisted that Wham’s song under the Christmas tree. Thus, the song was entitled “Last Christmas” and released on December 1984. It achieved an overwhelming success, also helped by a beautiful and iconic music video, shot in November 1984, in Saa-Fee Switzerland. The story is based on a failed relationship and on finding yourself face to face, a year later, with your ex, who in the meantime has started another relationship. The video features George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley and the British model Kathy Hill, who played a brunette girl with whom the singer fell in love. The video also features Wham backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie, as well as Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp, Shirlie Holliman’s then boyfriend and future husband. We all can say that “Last Christmas” is a truly a fabulous and timeless song that will remain forever in the history of music. 💖

Did some running around myself today which I swore I would not do two weeks before Christmas. Went early and came home early. Hubs and I stopped at a local restaurant/sports bar to grab sandwiches for dinner.🍔🥪

Xango I wish I were back in Colorado for Christmas with my mom and family. 💕
I had such a great time there for Thanksgiving I can’t wait to go back.

I miss looking at the mountains in the early morning hours. The only thing I don’t
miss is the traffic yeah Colorado traffic can be a challenge especially during the
Holiday Season. I know if I attempt to go around Christmas the traffic would be
worse than Thanksgiving so I will wait for better weather and a time when no so
many are out and in a hurry.

No power. Will not be on until late today or tomorrow. Using McDonalds. Hubby did amazing. Best MD report ever. Thank you for all the prayers and then some. Next is PT to get him on his feet and walking. Cannot write now. Forgot the WiFi plug for Kindle.

The electricity was shut off while in the shower. I could not understand why the hot water started to turn cold. There was no reason why and nothing in the e-mail notifying us of any problems. Since it was still off when I was leaving for the appointment I shut the power off completely in the panel. When I returned it was still off.

Hubby’s appointment was wonderful. Love this physician. He answered all our questions and took his time with us. Hubby can now enjoy Florida’s citrus fruits, but in moderation. Juice is out of the question because it is fermented and not good for the kidneys. It’s one of the no no’s for me as well because it is considered a sulfite. Also, he saw no reason why hubby could not have a total knee replacement. He did well with the anesthesia last week. However, I was told it was a different type. The urologist could not believe what we were told. I will look into this next week to get more of a perspective. His next appointment is in March shortly after our anniversary. I was totally amazed of the outcome from this surgery. He also was able to bypass the prostate. Hubby has had absolutely no pain from day one.

I did manage to visit our Farmer’s Market. It was a madhouse. Wall-to wall people. Glad someone mentioned this as I left the van. Grabbed my mask and put it on just before entering the store. I picked up a couple of red oranges and a package of mandarins. I shopped for an hour and when I arrived home, still no electricity. I had lots for the frig and freezer. I unpacked everything and grouped freezer and frig separately and then opened the door and threw everything inside. The freezer paks were still frozen. At 4 pm, grabbed Kindle, put a flashlight near the door and put some things into a freezer bag with two freezer paks and left. It wasn’t until I got to McDonald’s that I noticed I forgot the recharger for Kindle.I lad less than 10% left.
I returned home around 10 pm. Still no electricity. It came on shortly thereafter. I have a feeling that things were not completed and we may lose it again on Monday. Oh well. The plumber will be here along with the handyman. Should be another fun day (I’m being facetious).

The new mattress is here and the old one is in the guest bedroom. It is low enough for hubby, but it is difficult for me to get out of. It is also bad for sinuses in that it is closer to the floor. It is also not as firm and now wonder if the box spring made it feel harder and therefore better for lower back problems. I will test this a few more days before making any decisions.

Sheba, Hello! No more games huh? Poppy really missed you. Wonder what the cats do during the day? Around here there are feral fosters. Gotta hand it to all the people who take care of all the animals.
Picked up my hairdresser and postal workers gift cards today and had an awesome hike.
I am going on a different route and a bit earlier to avoid being out after 3ish. Best way to avoid the critters and snakes are hibernating so s/b mostly ok there.

Checking in while I’m cooking dinner. Pasta, what else is new.🍝 Finger is okay, took the gauze off yesterday and put a band aid on. This afternoon took the band aid off and used some New Skin. Feels alright, just don’t want it to start bleeding. Yes, I will be more careful.

Hockey team has been horrible, losing a lot and not playing good.😣 Oh well, nothing I can do except turn the channel. Football team doing terrible also. I will be watching and rooting for KC on Sunday.👍✨

Yesterday I had a senior moment. I could not find my glasses. These are the ones I use daily and need when driving. 6 hrs of looking everywhere. Yes, I checked the freezer and refrigerator. Checked the bed and other areas as well. Nothing. Checked the car. Nothing. Finally, i t was bedtime and I had boxes on the bed for the yearly yard sale and lo and behold they were under one of the boxes. No recollection of leaving them on the bed let alone being under a heavy box.

I am now on my way to visit hubby. Sam’s is six cents lower for gas than Costco, will stop on my way. Delivery of the mattress today. It will definitely work for hubby. The old one went into the guest bedroom. Well, I am now off to see hubby. Tomorrow is his urology appointment. I will be there and hopefully we will have some good news,. Cannot wait for him to see the new things and to get his reaction.

Living a Spiritual Life

Remembering who we really are is the first step in awakening to our spiritual path.

Practicing compassion, gratitude, appreciation, forgiveness, generosity, meditation, and taking care of one’s well-being can all be a part of one’s spiritual life. If you are new to exploring your personal spirituality, remember that this is a process. You may want to spend a few moments each day giving yourself a spiritual gift. Try a new form of meditation, visit a sanctuary, or explore a specific deity.

Accepting the importance of spirituality can be a healthy decision because a spiritual practice tends to include habits that promote healthy living. Take the time to carefully determine the action, thought, and ritual that most speaks to your soul. Remember that your most profound spiritual experiences may also come from the simple intricacies that make up your life. See the interconnectedness of all things. I love waterford Crystal and my SIL brought me some from Dublin, Ireland years ago
before the factory closed. I also worked at Macy’s during my College years and I learned
a lot about Crystal I have a nice collection. 😊💕

Hi to you in Oz. Oh, that snowman is adorable!!⛄ Probably the only time I can say I like snow. Me and Mr. Gingerbread will enjoy the drink.

Cut my finger pretty good yesterday on that new knife set I just had to have a few months ago.😣 That took care of my typing, washing dishes, etc. Bled like the dickens so hubs wrapped it in gauze with tape. Still have it on today just to be safe. Doesn’t really hurt, just awkward.
