I created and started this thread almost 14 years ago. 😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎I have been shopping and posting on HSN since the late
90’s 😎I have wonderful memories from the HSN we all know and love.

    Small Faces Lyrics
    “Itchycoo Park”

    Over Bridge of Sighs
To rest my eyes in shades of green
    Under dreaming spires
To Itchycoo Park, that’s where I’ve been

(What did you do there?) I got high
(What did you feel there?) Well, I cried
(But why the tears there?) Tell you why
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be nice and have fun in the sun

I’ll tell you what I’ll do (What will you do?)
I’d like to go there now with you
You can miss out school (Won’t that be cool?)
Why go to learn the words of fools?

(What will we do there?) We’ll get high
(What will we touch there?) We’ll touch the sky
(But why the tears there?) I’ll tell you why
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be nice and have fun in the sun

    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    Ha

    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful
    It’s all too beautiful

      NATIONAL KINDERGARTEN DAY

Each year on April 21st, National Kindergarten Day honors the birthday of the man who started the first Kindergarten. Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (April 21, 1782 – June 21, 1852) is credited with starting the very first Kindergarten in Germany in 1837. Frobel was a German teacher and a student of Johann Pestalozzi. Frobel laid a foundation for modern education, recognizing that children learn through play and experience.

      NATIONAL CHOCOLATE-COVERED CASHEWS DAY

      @sheba2011

I was up half the night itching. Could not figure out why until I happened to get a weather warning. I was outside early yesterday morning getting things ready for garbage pickup. It was very windy, but didn’t think about any problems. It was just nice to be outside. Well, seems Mother Nature is full of surprises. I thought allergy season was behind us. Not so. Seems the wind picked up the tree pollen and now you know the rest of the story. Hoping I can get some things done later..

      @sheba2011

Who would have guessed that “Smart Water” would aid a sinue infection. My voice is still a bit raspy, but the itchiness is gone and I feel better. This worked in conjunction with the allergy pills. Guess I needed that extra boost. Laundry is now in the wash cycle . I’m getting a few things done.
Still very windy. Wind gusts are over 20mph. Humidity is down and that’s the reason why we have a fire warning in effect. Have a great evening.

      @oodiebom,

Good Evening sorry you are a bit under the weather. That does not feel good. OZ has
been windy all weekend we really had to clean up debris we have trees for miles. 😎

I would just rest and take the meds glad you caught it in time before venturing out.

Enjoy some tea with your Manuka Honey. 😎💕❤️

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. 🎈😎Taci I know you and hubs are busy looking at
homes and I hope you find the right one for you and your family soon. 😎

Hope your husband is healing nicely. I love the Doves in your garage. 💕😎
      What a surprise.

Hey here is to whatever you do today just have a little fun. 😎

Sheba, Read your post from last night. This is a fun vacation spot. I’m sure they have a list of great places to go.
Marina Del Rey holds a lot of memories for me. I had a weekend job there when I 1st moved to CA, and worked in my day job in a building up the Road nearer to LAX. Those were the jobs that I drove to and from while living in the Valley.
Love your menagerie of critters. You have your regulars and then some.

      • Sheba2011

      @taci,

Good Evening interesting I never knew you work in that area. My brother and his wife go
there often and they hit all the spots. Bro will spend time with our niece and she knows
many places to go. When I come to S. California all I need is a driver the traffic bothers
me to many cars. LOL! ❤️😎🎈

My husband’s family live in N. California near the Wine Country. 🎈😎💕
I love the Doves how sweet.

Oz is very nice and we are finally in Spring. 😎💕 Taci I saw in MI where they have huge
Ice from a storm coming through people’s homes I’ve never seen anything like that.
This is off a Lake those homes are done now that is bad weather imagine a block of Ice
coming in your living room you can see this on the national news.

      Here’s to a good evening. 💕😎

      @taci

You are not alone with birds in the garage. During Spring and Summer, hubs leaves our garage doors open during the day because he is in and out a lot. A few years in a row we had robins build nests on top of a shelf. I noticed after eggs were laid and I saw them flying in and out. I felt so bad at night when the doors were closed and they couldn’t get out. I became a crazy robin momma every morning! Hubs got strict instructions to watch for a nest being built or keep the darn doors closed!!!

      • Sheba2011

      @shoelady60,

Good day in the ‘burgh. 😎💕🎈I just remembered you are out with your mom and sister.
Enjoy the day. I know all your beauty treatments will look pretty on all of you.

I am going for a nice facial tomorrow I take good care of my skin. 💕😎

Sending nice spring vibes to you and Jake. 😎💕

      • TACI

Shoelady, Our husbands are alike like that… If he is home the garage door is always open.
I don’t know about where you live but here in So Ca if the birds laid eggs you can’t remove them. I was on a step ladder looking for any signs of a nest and eggs and enlarging my pictures. Thankfully there weren’t any.
I know what you mean about feeling bad about shutting the garage door but these birds are pretty smart so they must have known the door would go down eventually (I hope).

Beautiful day for running around. Not too hot, not too cold, just a little windy.

After the nail salon, take one guess what we had for a late lunch – pasta!🍝 All three of us had some kind of noodles on the plate. It was a nice day with family.🥰

Hockey team did not get the job done, they can’t even get half the job done.☹️ I am disappointed but have to give Philly thumbs up for playing great.

Going to relax this evening with a glass of something. Enjoy a soothing facial tomorrow. Lots of hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      @shoelady60,

Good Evening glad you had a nice day with your sister and mom. 😎💕I think you know

      Prince And The Revolution Lyrics
      “Purple Rain”
      (from “Purple Rain” soundtrack)

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted, one time, to see you laughing
I only want to see you laughing
      In the purple rain

      Purple rain, purple rain
      Purple rain, purple rain
      Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you bathing
      In the purple rain

I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend, hey
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It’s such a shame our friendship had to end

      Purple rain, purple rain
      Purple rain, purple rain
      Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you underneath the purple rain

Honey, I know, I know, I know times are changing
It’s time we all reach out for something new
      That means you, too
You say you want a leader
But you can’t seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain

      Purple rain, purple rain, yeah
      Purple rain, purple rain, woo!
If you know what I’m singing about up here
      Come on, raise your hand
      Purple rain, purple rain, yeah
I only want to see you
Only want to see you in the purple rain

    When Doves Cry
    Song by Prince

Dig if you will the picture
Of you and I engaged in a kiss
The sweat of your body covers me
    Can you my darling
    Can you picture this?
Dream, if you can, a courtyard
An ocean of violets in bloom
    Animals strike curious poses
    They feel the heat
The heat between me and you
How can you just leave me standing
Alone in a world that’s so cold? (So cold)
    Maybe I’m just too demanding
Maybe I’m just like my father, too bold
Maybe you’re just like my mother
She’s never satisfied (she’s never satisfied)
Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like
    When doves cry
Touch if you will my stomach
    Feel how it trembles inside
You’ve got the butterflies all tied up
    Don’t make me chase you
    Even doves have pride
How could you just leave me standing
Alone in a world so cold? (World so cold)
    Maybe I’m just too demanding
Maybe I’m just like my father, too bold
Maybe you’re just like my mother
She’s never satisfied (she’s never satisfied)
Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like
    When doves cry
How can you just leave me standing
Alone in a world that’s so cold? (A world that’s so cold)
Maybe I’m just too demanding (maybe, maybe I’m like my father)
Maybe I’m just like my father too bold (you know he’s too bold)
Maybe you’re just like my mother (maybe you’re just like my mother)
She’s never satisfied (she’s never, never satisfied)
Why do we scream at each other? (Why do we scream, why)
This is what it sounds like
    When doves cry
When doves cry (doves cry, doves cry)
When doves cry (doves cry, doves cry)

We bow our heads as we say goodbye to “Rosie the Rieveter” Marian Wynn, a woman who didn’t just witness history, she forged it with her own two hands. At 102 years old, the welder’s mask has been set down for the last time, but the flame she carried for over a century will never truly go out. When the world was shrouded in darkness, Marian didn’t wait for a hero, she became one. She traded her youth for a welding torch, her comfort for a shipyard, and her silence for the roar of the war effort. She was the heartbeat of the home front, proving to a skeptical world that a woman’s resolve was as unbreakable as the steel she joined together.🕊️🇺🇸
She wasn’t just “Rosie.” She was the grandmother of our modern strength.
To Marian, the iconic red bandana wasn’t a fashion statement; it was a battle flag. It represented the millions of women who stood up when they were told to sit down, who worked until their hands bled so that freedom could endure.
Rest now, Marian. Your shift is over. The ships you built have long since sailed, but the bridge you built for future generations of women stands stronger than ever.
We promise to keep the torch lit. We promise to remember. Because of you, we know, forever and always—that We Can Do It.

She wrote the most famous song about self-love while cancer was killing her. And you’ve never heard her name.
      Philadelphia. 1949.
Linda Creed grew up in North Philly where her mother cleaned houses and her father worked construction. But Linda had something nobody could take away. Words.
She filled notebooks with poetry. Feelings nobody around her could express. Pain turned into rhythm. Hope turned into melody.
At 16, she started showing up at recording studios. Philadelphia in the 1960s was making soul music history. Motown sound. The Philadelphia Sound. Hits that would last forever.
She’d wait outside studio doors. Ask to watch. Just to learn. Just to be close to the magic.
The producers noticed her. This young Black woman who could write. Who understood how words married music.
At 19, she partnered with Thom Bell. He made the music. She wrote the words. Together, they created magic.
Their first hit came in 1971. “Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)” for The Stylistics. Top 40.
Then came “Betcha By Golly Wow.” The song at every wedding. Every anniversary. Every soul radio station for five decades. Those words are Linda’s.
“You Make Me Feel Brand New.” Number 2 on the charts. Millions of copies sold worldwide. Gold record.
She was 23 years old. Writing hit after hit. Making other people famous. Making producers rich.
She made decent money. Not rich. Not poor. Just working. Just creating.
“People Make the World Go Round.” The Stylistics again. A social commentary wrapped in beauty. Linda’s pen.
She wrote songs for The Spinners. For Johnny Mathis. For artists whose names everyone knows.
      But nobody knew hers.
      In 1976, everything changed.
She started feeling exhausted. Bruising appeared on her skin. Pain in her bones that wouldn’t stop.
The doctors ran tests. Then more tests.
Breast cancer. Stage 3. Aggressive. Already spreading through her lymph nodes.
      She was 27 years old.
They started treatment immediately. Chemotherapy flooded her body. Radiation burned her skin. Surgery took pieces of her. She lost her hair. Lost weight. Lost everything except the words.
She kept writing. Through every treatment. Every hospital stay. Every moment when death whispered in her ear.
In 1977, she wrote something different. Something that came from a place deeper than music.
      “The Greatest Love of All.”
Originally for Muhammad Ali’s biopic. A song about a fighter. But really, a song about fighting.
“Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.”
She wrote those words while her body betrayed her. While cancer consumed her from the inside. While she learned that loving yourself sometimes means accepting you might not win.
George Benson recorded it first. It became a hit. People loved it. Played it. Sang it.
But the credits just said “Creed/Creed.” Most people didn’t even notice. Just another songwriter. Background. Invisible.
The cancer went into remission in 1978. She thought she’d beaten it. Two precious years of believing she’d won.
She kept writing. “Rubberband Man” for The Spinners. More hits. More invisible success.
Then 1980 came. The cancer returned. Worse this time.
Her lymph nodes. Her liver. Her lungs. Everywhere.
She kept writing anyway. What else could she do? The words were all she had left.
By 1985, everyone knew she was dying. The cancer had won. It was just a matter of time.
She was in and out of hospitals. Hooked to machines. Drowning in medications that stopped working.
She kept a notebook by her hospital bed. Kept writing. Right up until the end.
Linda Creed died on April 10, 1986. She was 37 years old.
Her funeral was small. Family. Some musicians. Industry people who remembered.
The Philadelphia Inquirer ran four paragraphs. Called her a “prolific lyricist.” That was all.
      But here’s what happened next.
Just weeks before Linda died, Whitney Houston had recorded “The Greatest Love of All.”
It exploded. Became massive. Bigger than anyone imagined. One of Whitney’s signature songs. One of the most performed songs in history.
Whitney sang it everywhere. Awards shows. Concerts. The Super Bowl. Nelson Mandela’s welcome concert in 1990. The whole world watched.
Every time she sang “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all,” millions heard Linda’s words.
Most of them never knew those words came from a woman who died of cancer at 37. Who wrote about self-love while her body was destroying itself.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted her in 2003. Seventeen years after she died.
It was an honor. A nice ceremony. Almost no media coverage. Just industry people who already knew her name.
Today, her songs have been streamed billions of times. “The Greatest Love of All” alone has over 500 million plays on Spotify.
Walk up to anyone on the street. Play them the song. They know every word.
Ask who wrote it. They’ll say Whitney Houston.
      Nobody says Linda Creed.
She wrote over 50 charted songs. Created words that have been sung at millions of weddings. Graduations. Funerals. Moments when people needed something beautiful.
Her lyrics about self-love have helped people through depression. Through abuse. Through addiction. Through loneliness.
“Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.”
She wrote that while dying. While cancer destroyed her body piece by piece. While she learned that sometimes the greatest love means accepting you’re losing.
She never got rich. Never got famous. Never got to see her words become immortal.
She just died at 37 in Philadelphia. Another songwriter. Another name in the credits that nobody reads.
But her words are still everywhere. Still on the radio. Still being sung in showers. Still helping people believe they’re worth loving.
Linda Creed died thinking her body had failed her.
She had no idea her words would outlive everyone. That they’d still be teaching self-love decades later. That they’d still be saving people.
The next time you hear “The Greatest Love of All,” remember Linda Creed.
Still teaching. Still healing. Still reminding us that loving yourself is the greatest love of all.
Thirty-eight years after cancer killed her. And most people still don’t know her name.
The woman who wrote about self-love while dying. The woman whose words became immortal. The woman the world forgot.

      “Greatest Love Of All”

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
      Everybody’s searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
      A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on me

      I decided long ago
Never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all
      Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
      Inside of me
      The greatest love of all
      Is easy to achieve
      Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all
      Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
      Inside of me
      The greatest love of all
      Is easy to achieve
      Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

And if, by chance, that special place
      That you’ve been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
      Find your strength in love

Nice tribute to Linda Creed. Yoou and the media were right. No one knew her name. No credits for writing the songs that became hits. So sad.

I read some of the news on the Bankruptcy and found that both QVC an HSN are on TikTok. The good news is that they started adding customers, so maybe things may be getting better. I hope so. At least they are giving it a good try. Yes, I will miss Community if things go the other way. Time will tell.

Like you, I am doing this and that today. Got the garbage out early this AM and then started clearing things from the carport.and then paid the bills. A dull morning, but a nice afternoon. Will be visiting hubby shortly.

No rain in sight. We now have water usage and fire warnings. This is the first time ever since being here full time. It is windy today. Yard work and recycle on tap for tomorrow.

Sheba, Hello and hope you had a great day.
No worries about the earrings. I did find something else of course and used a coupon too.
Did a little more yard work but will have to wait for the bins to get emptied and then will do a bit more. Oh, I have a wild cactus plant in my backyard and accidentally had a run in with it. It’s small and plant-like and the leaves are like razors. I tried to remove it once and will try again next week.
Two morning doves ( I think) were in the garage on a high shelf where hubs stores paint. They didn’t mind hubs or son but after I drove the car into the garage and tried to take a picture they dove towards me and left the garage. Maybe they want to nest there? I looked at my picture and they don’t look real. They look like a painted picture not a live bird. odd, huh? they went to the back yard and made all kinds of sounds. I checked for a nest or eggs and didn’t see anything.

      NATIONAL HANGING OUT DAY

Each year on April 19th, Project Laundry List works with hundreds of other organizations to sponsor National Hanging Out Day. This day encourages communities to learn about the benefits, both financially and environmentally, of using a clothesline for drying laundry. According to Project Laundry Lists’ website, clothes dryers account for an astonishing six to ten percent of residential energy consumption. Hanging your clothes out to dry also includes all these other benefits:

You will reduce your carbon footprint.
      You will save money.
The fresh air and sunshine recharge our bodies in therapeutic ways.
Clothes dried on a clothesline have a natural freshness.
It encourages us to slow down.

      NATIONAL AMARETTO DAY

On April 19th, National Amaretto Day recognizes a liqueur known around the world for its flavor and aroma.

In Italian, the word Amaretto means “a little bitter,” because it is made from bitter almonds or apricot kernels, or both. Makers infuse it in pure alcohol or brandy, resulting in a strong almond flavor. This traditionally Italian liqueur carries a reputation for being fragrant.

      NATIONAL GARLIC DAY

Each year on April 19th, National Garlic Day celebrates a vegetable also known as the stinking rose. The fragrant and potent root has been seasoning dishes for thousands of years.

This stinking rose is a member of the lily family. This family also includes the flavorful onions, leeks, and shallots we use in some of our favorite dishes. Garlic originated in Asia over 7,000 years ago, so it’s no surprise that cuisines worldwide incorporate it into favored recipes.

Garlic is quite versatile as illustrated by its many medicinal purposes. The mighty bulb is considered an herbal remedy for colds and may reduce blood pressure and cholesterol. Modern science has also proven garlic’s antibiotic properties.

Myth and superstition reek of garlic. The most familiar one suggests that garlic wards off vampires. This same theory seemed to work on witches, werewolves, demons and other such evils one might cross. Folklore also tells us garlic grew from satan’s left footprint when he left the Garden of Eden. Greek midwives used garlic to keep evil spirits away, and courage filled Roman soldiers who consumed the bulb.

Consider our dreams and garlic too. Our dreams often have meaning and dreaming of garlic is no different. To dream about garlic in the house suggests good luck and if the dream includes eating garlic (perhaps in a pesto sauce), there might be hidden secrets. Over 300 varieties of garlic grow around the world to dream about as well!

Sheba, Hubs is all good, and not in pain. Staples will be removed in about 1-2 weeks. The number of days suggested varies by the Dr. then Nurse, then written paperwork. I’m a specific person so vagueness is hard for me. When I got to the ER I told my hubs that if he really wanted my meds to just ask…lol. I have a lot left over and will take it in soon for disposal.
I was like you today and cleaned up the back yard with some weeding, and cutting branches down. It’s probably a 2 day job though.
Regarding the houses, we looked at 2 but neither were a go for us. They were nice but just not quite right for our needs.

      Have a great week ahead.

      @taci

The HOA part was mainly for your friends getting ready for their trip to Florida. Why I am saying this is that some areas require a guest stay no more than 2 weeks. You may have the room for a guest, parent, grandchild, etc., but they cannot stay more than the time alloted. I happened to be at a meeting when I heard one person scream at the HOA because his dad or mom had to leave. This was the middle ow winter and the dad or mom was battling cancer and the warm climate was good for their health. Rules are Rules. Guess I saw red and took a stand and blasted those who made the rules and stood up to them. It turned out that the parent stayed until the family could return to their home. This not only is a concern for condo dwellers, it also is a concern for areas of private homes as well. Not sure this is something that Floridians must deal with, but it is a concern if a parent or child cannot stay for more than the rules allow. People rush to purchase and think an HOA is good and find out too late what is what. It is important to read everything and know what you are signing prior to a purchase.

I think we will have a potluck dinner, this and that all thrown together, lol!🤣 It may not taste good but it will be easy. Sending breezy hugs your way.🤗💖

This is Oz weather pattern up and down no big deal. Hubby and I had lunch while

Oodie, Thanks for your post about the HOA and all the rules and small print. We have an HOA here and hubs likes that they maintain the area. It has its issues and most of my immediate neighbors are on the Board. As for AZ, it’s not for me. I’m not a heat or Dessert person. My husband would love to move there though. We were going many times a year because my parents retired there. I did say I would move there if I could be near the airport so I could leave. lol.

      @sheba2011

What an evening. I arrived with some dessert for hubs. This was a pudding and a chocolate chip cookie. He had a dinner that consisted of stew beef, veggies (carrots, beans, broccoli, + others) and noodles. Dessert on the first tray was pudding. On the second he had chocolate cake. He had two complete dinners because he was still hungry. Looking at the amount of food, all I could say was “take home please.” No way could I eat all that food. Miracles: I was able to hear the Tv in hub’s room without using volume control and heard every word hub said. He also started singing like old times. It was a perfect evening. I pray that it stays that way. This is the first time in months that he had the energy in his voice. Monday or Tuesday I will start phoning new contractors who have experience with handicapped accessibility. Will keep everyone informed. I just hope they do not shut Community down.

Happy that everything is OK at your place and everyone is fine.

      The Warmth Of The Sun
      Song by The Beach Boys

      What good is the dawn
      That grows into day?
      The sunset at night
      Or living this way
For I have the warmth of the sun (warmth of the sun)
Within me at night (within me at night)
      The love of my life
      She left me one day
      I cried when she said
“I don’t feel the same way”
Still I have the warmth of the sun (warmth of the sun)
Within me tonight (within me tonight)
      I’ll dreams of her arms
      And though they’re not real
      Just like she’s still there
      The way that I feel
My love’s like the warmth of the sun (warmth of the sun)
It won’t ever die (it won’t ever die)

      NATIONAL CRAWFISH DAY

National Crawfish Day on April 17th celebrates one of the South’s most iconic foods. Each year the mudbug brings out not only a desire for newspaper-covered picnic tables but a language all its own.

A smaller, fresh-water cousin to the lobster, crawfish provide a unique flavor to many homegrown Southern dishes. Baked or boiled, crawfish is usually seasoned with a distinctive brand of southern heat. One particularly popular way to serve crawfish is a boil, paper towels required.

If you’ve never been to a crawfish boil, you don’t understand the meaning of digging into your food. An unbridled desire overcomes you as the aroma hits you to devour a massive pile of corn, potatoes, and sausage. And let’s not forget a variety of shellfish that go by names such as ditchbug, crayfish, crawdad, crawpappy, among other amusements.

      NATIONAL CHEESEBALL DAY

April 17th kicks off National Cheeseball Day and recognizes a party food that can sometimes be the centerpiece of a spread. You can choose from two ways to celebrate, too! Or plan your party and serve both!

Acheese spread comes in the shape of a ball served with crackers, most often around Christmas in the U.S. This cheeseball is commonly made with softened cream cheese and other ingredients.
Cheese puffs are a puffed corn snack coated with a mixture of cheese or cheese-flavored powders. Cheese puffs are manufactured by extruding heated corn dough through a die that forms the particular shape, most likely a ball shape.
No matter which one you celebrate, both make for terrific snacking.

      NATIONAL HAIKU POETRY DAY

Observed annually on April 17, National Haiku Poetry Day encourages all to try their hand in creativity. Haiku poetry is a form of Japanese poetry that is non-rhyming and usually consists of 3 lines with a syllable pattern of 5-7-5. Usually, an element of nature, a season, a moment of beauty, or an individual experience inspires haiku poems. Sensory language is used to capture a feeling, image, or moment.

      From Haiku: This Other World
      Richard Wright (1908-1960)

      Whitecaps on the bay:
      A broken signboard banging
      In the April wind.

As one of the world’s oldest and regularly used poetry, some recognizable poets wrote many haiku. While the most well-known is Matsuo Basho, others we may recognize are William Blake, T.S. Eliot, or Maya Angelou. And as small as the poem may be, it can be quite challenging to write. Try capturing an entire moment or emotion in 17 syllables and getting it right.

However, English haiku does not always follow the strict syllable count found in Japanese haiku. The typical length of haiku in English language journals is 10-14 syllables versus the 5-7-5 syllables used in the Japanese language.

      @sheba2011

I am also saddened by the bankruptxy filing. However, this isn’t the first time for wither company. Back in the 90s Barry Diller took over QVC and later HSN. Both venues became better under his rdeas because he knew the retail side of business. My mom loved QVC because it was the best quality of everything. She often called HSN the basement witn no named brands and poor quality. Of course this all changed under Mr. Diller. We saw remarkable talent under his leadership .This was all beaten to the ground uner the extreme takeover. Right away we saw vendors leaving and the replacements were not nearly enough to bring additional interest. HSN beame the basement store again. I think Mindy saw the handwriting on the wall way before we did. I grew up in a retail environment. Yes, my dad was a pharmacist. But he brought in more than prescriptions and over the counter medicines. He had toys for kids, beauty for adults, newspapers and magazines along with candy, gum and cigarettes. He also had a small liquor area and a fountain for sodas, salads and a grill for hamburgers, hotdogs, etc.. It is sort of like a CVS and Wahlgrens, but without the fountain. Yes, this is sad. But, with the right people, this again, can become household names. We definitely need a Barry Diller again to take on the reins. This is wishful thinking on my part.

We had a lovely breakfast yesterday. Then it was a rush to get the hair done and on to Costco. Very busy day and it was fun. I am almost back to my old self where I can juggle more than one thing on my list. It felt great knowing I could do this after the fall in January. May need to beome a “bionic” woman with the knees at some point. But yesterday proved that I still could move and that was important.

on both their lives and what a life they have lived. I am of the retail world too and there
      is nothing like it. 💕🎈😎

These remind me of Iris Apfel. I miss her so much. I still have her pieces too. 😎

What about Arizona? Or places en route. I enjoyed Arizona both times we were there. People are friendly and there are many communities that might have the right rhythm for both of you. I forgot to mention that some retirement communities are not always the best. Sometimes it is better to have a mixture of age groups. Also, read those HOA rules. Better to look at those before purchasing.

Good Evening you will never believe what happened last night. Lady I had a baby Deer
come into my driveway walked around my husband’s luxury car and came up on the
porch and ate out of the cat bowl. 😎I only say luxury because it is a very good car and
if the baby had ran into it or damaged it in any way oops. I have never seen a deer come
into the driveway and come straight to the front porch and eat like he lives here. LOL!

Honest these cameras are the best I was posting last night and I hurried up and shut down
to go take a look at it. Wait for it I had one of my cats eating and when the deer came he
he took off like a bat out of …guess what the cat came back after the deer left like nothing
happened. Mother Nature knows how to treat each other. I meant to tell you this early. 💕

I know they like your yard I have bunnies too. What a night. 💕

I think a little vino is in order for tonight and good luck to your team tomorrow. 💕🎈

      Sweet Dreams. 😎

      NATIONAL HEALTHCARE DECISIONS DAY

National Healthcare Decisions Day educates and empowers the public and healthcare providers to take part in important advance care planning.

In the absence of an advanced directive, medical personnel relies on family members to determine what a patient’s wishes might be. Family members also often struggle to make these difficult decisions. However, many of these difficult decisions can be avoided with advanced planning.

The observance emphasizes the importance of advance directives, and national, state and community organizations come together in a collaborative effort to promote the day. These entities are working together to ensure the availability of the information, opportunity, and access needed to document health care decisions.

While advance care planning seems like a difficult discussion, the alternative leaves family members struggling to make the decision for you. Completing an advanced directive removes the burden from our loved ones. It also frees us to have more pleasant conversations in the future.

      NATIONAL ORCHID DAY

Each year on April 16th, National Orchid Day recognizes one of the world’s diverse and widespread flowering plant families. The orchids’ often colorful and fragrant blooms grow in abundance around the world. Along with the Asteraceae, they are one of the two largest families of flowering plants, with between 21,950 and 26,049 currently accepted species. Not only are they prolific, but they range in size from the 2.1 mm wide Platystele jungermannioides to broad-bloomed Grammatophyllum speciosum.

While some find the orchid challenging to grow, others find pleasure in their pleasant fragrance and uncommon beauty. With so many varieties to choose from, anyone can enjoy the beauty from home or by visiting botanical gardens around the world.

National Bean Counter Day on April 16th is every accountant’s favorite day of the year. After the flutter and the flurry of preparing taxes right up until the stroke of midnight, these diligent number crunchers are well past due for a day off.

The term “bean counter” hasn’t always referred to our reliable accountants. Like many phrases, it was much more literal before it morphed into the idiom we use today. Not unlike, meeting a customer at the deli counter or fabric counter to complete their order, clerks met consumers at the bean counter. However, over time, the phrase became attributed to accountants who watched each and every penny (or bean) that went in and out of the business.

Once April 16th rolls around, it’s time to give the accountants a break. All the receipts have been tallied. All the various tax forms in duplicate and triplicate have been submitted. The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of debits and credits. It is time for all bean counters to take a well-deserved break. April 16th is the accountant’s day to turn off the phone and return to a more normal routine.

      @sheba2011

I just came home to take care of a few things and to pick up a freezer bag. I met our friend for breakfast and she had not changed one bit. We have been emailing back and forth for many years. Her husband past away about the same time as your dad, maybe a few months prior. We met in the Community and have been friends ever since. Hubs would have joined me if he was able to stand and walk a few steps. Losing a spouse does not deter in any of our friendships. That’s the way we both are and have been since the day we met.

The place for breakfast is very tiny, but the breakfast is phenomenal. They have managed to put out three tables outside with four chairs each. It is basically on a sidewalk just outside of their café. There are no booths inside, just tables and chairs. The middle aisle has tables for 6 or more. The outter ones for two or four people. Yes, it is an endless cup of coffee either regular or decaf. I do limit myself to not more than two cups. I could not finish breakfast and did not take anything home due to other appointments. The temp is now in the 80s with low humidity. It is absolutely beautiful with no wind to speak of. No rain in sight until sometime nest week. If I didn’t have another commitment we would have gone to a breakfast place called “First Watch.” However, no matter what time you arrive, the line is out the door. All food, including rolls and bread are made on the premises. Like all breakfast places here, they open around 6am and close between 2 and 3 pm each day.

Yes, my hair is done and looks fabulous. This person is knowledgeable and has helped me regrow hair in areas that were bald. My head is now back to my youth where it is nice and thick.
Well, it is now that time. I just looked at the clock. I need to make a stop at Costco and Culvers.
Have a great day and don’t do anything I would and then some.

Beautiful day in the ‘burgh. Sounds like it’s beautiful all around!☀️🌺

Decided to make it a lazy day. Watched some morning TV with my coffee, read the newspaper, watched hubs ride around for the first time on the mower and saw one of my groundhogs for the first time this season. I did see one of the bunnies yesterday.🐇 Everything is waking up.

Keep those long legs walking along with Poppy’s short ones.🚶‍➡️🐾 Sending lots of hugs your way.🤗💖
