Conversation 25
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 25 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

NATIONAL OLIVE DAY
National Olive Day falls on June 1st on the National Day Calendar to celebrate one of the world’s oldest fruits. The olive is part of a traditional meze/tapas culinary experience that brings families and friends around the table.
Olives are a symbol of peace, hope, love and friendship and National Olive Day is an excellent reason to celebrate the day. We are extending an olive branch to invite you in our celebration to recognize the joy this little fruit provides.
Around the world, approximately 500 different varieties of olives are cultivated. Their flavors range from sweet to bitter and come in a range of colors and sizes. Olives are used in many ways. We find them in cocktails and loaves of bread. We eat them whole as snacks. We use them as toppings and include them on relish trays or as a garnish for many foods. They are one of the most versatile foods we eat and delicious, too!

NATIONAL SAY SOMETHING NICE DAY
June 1 is National Say Something Nice Day on the National Day Calendar. Today, we have an opportunity to make today extra pleasant for everyone by saying nice things all day long!
National Say Something Nice Day is the perfect day to counteract bullying by practicing common courtesy. Our hope is everyone will use today’s National Day as a way to promote kindness and encourage people to be nice every day of the year.
“If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”
Words are important. Once you say them you can’t take them back, no matter how true we think they might be. Luckily, we all know someone whose true nature is kinder than most who can help us emulate kindness. These people are a good example of how we wish we could or should be.

NATIONAL GAME SHOW DAY
Today is June 1 and National Game Show Day on the National Day Calendar and we are celebrating all timeless game shows, past and present. National Game Show Day honors one of the oldest and most cherished genres of TV.
Game Shows are watched by millions of Americans every single day and are a staple in most American homes. Viewers can engage by cheering contestants on and playing along from home. National Game Show Day honors vintage and current game shows, their hosts, and the fans of yesterday and today.
Game shows are a specific genre of television where contestants compete, answer questions, or solve puzzles to win prizes. Prizes consist of cash, trips, and some of the most popular consumer products, including electronics, cars, and appliances.
The first TV game show in the U.S. was Truth or Consequences, which began in 1940 and was hosted by Ralph Edwards. The show consisted of contestants being asked to answer trivia questions correctly or face the consequences by performing a zany stunt.

NATIONAL BUBBLY DAY
On the first Saturday in June, we encourage you to pour a glass of sparkling sunshine and get ready to celebrate National Bubbly Day!
Bubbly, or sparkling wine, reflects the excitement associated with memorable events. Effervescent bubbles combine with the appealing flavors and aromas ranging from citrus, apple, and pear to toasted fruit, spices, and nuts. Whether paired with a full meal or light appetizers, these wines satisfy the requirement for an unforgettable celebration.
Types of Bubbly
Different areas of the world create their own special brand of bubbly according to strict methods and select grapes. Each differing grape produces a sparkling wine unique to each region.Cava is produced in the rolling hills of Spain and fills a glass with bright citrus and fruit notes. Protected in Spain, this bubbly must meet stringent requirements to earn the name Cava. Using only the “traditional methods,” Cava requires a second fermentation in each bottle produced.
Champagne is the most common form of bubbly people know. To earn the name, this bubbly wine must be made in the Champagne region of France. In addition, certain kinds of grapes are used with a specific method before bottling. When celebrating with Champagne, enjoy the crisp flavors of apple or a nutty, sweet finish.
Prosecco is bubbly wine that takes us to Italy and Prosecco. This delicious sparking wine is made primarily from the Glera grape. Prosecco celebrates refreshing floral and fruit notes. -
NATIONAL NAIL POLISH DAY | JUNE 1
On June 1st we celebrate National Nail Polish Day in hopes this celebration primes you with every shade under the sun. It’s time to show off your toes and enjoy the summertime! From the French manicure to elaborate nail art, nail polish has come a long way since the bees’ wax and gum Arabic used by the Chinese around 3,000 B.C. Egyptians in high societies used reddish brown henna to paint their nails. Through the years, nail polish has gone through several transformations. Around the nineteenth century, people began polishing their nails with tinted powders and pastes. They also buffed their fingernails to make them shiny.
Who invented nail polish? Northam Warren invented nail polish in 1911. As a known chemist, Warren first developed a liquid to remove dead cuticles without having to cut or scrape them. By 1916, he his invention led to the creation of a colorless nail polish.
In 1920 a makeup artist by the name of Michelle Menard developed brush-on varnishes that had the same properties as automobile paint. The improvements of Menard’s formula were especially popular with flappers throughout the 1920s who would paint their nails with the varnish. By 1932, Menard began her own cosmetic company, selling nail polish in a variety of colors. The company sold this new and improved type of nail polish at drugstores and department stores throughout the country. Since then, millions of women have painted their nails on a regular basis.
Not So Secret Facts
Why do people polish their nails? People polish their nails because it makes their hands look more attractive. Painting your nails also protects them for breakage. Others paint their nails to enjoy the relaxation that accompanies getting their nails done. With so many colors to choose from, nail polish is also a marvelous way to accessorize or accentuate an outfit.
Do nail polish colors signify different events? Some people choose to wear a certain color of nail polish to match the season or their mood. And, there is also a shade or hue for every occasion. Vibrant reds, turquoises, and plums make summer nails shine during beach parties and weekend barbecues. The understated style of pale pinks and beiges, or a subtle moss, help women look workweek chic. For those elegant evenings, or just to make a statement, nail polish adds gold, silver and sparkle to even the most economic wardrobe.
While certain nail polish colors come and go, there are those that will never go out of style. For the last several years, the following nail polish colors have stood the test of time:
Jet black
Cherry red
Cool blue
Light lavender
Fine wine
Pure white
Chocolate brown
Iridescent rainbow
Nearly neon orange
BlackberryTimeline Tidbits
In 1934, nail polish was often referred to as lacquer and cost 35 cents a bottle.
A bottle of nail polish costs anywhere from $2 to $25 today.
The most expensive nail polish in the world costs $250,000. This nail polish is made with black diamonds. As opposed to only having three shades of red to choose from in the past, some companies make over 300 hundred different colors of nail polish. An opened bottle of nail polish only lasts a couple of years.
To maximize its shelf life, you should store your nail polish in a dry space at room temperature.
What are some unconventional uses for nail polish? Like most products, there are some unconventional uses for nail polish. For example, nail polish can be used to keep costume jewelry looking like new. Many people use it to stop a run or snag in your nylon stockings. Around the office, nail polish can be used to seal envelopes and color code your keyboard. At home, clear nail polish is used to threading a needle, stop a small tear in curtains and fill holes where pictures used to hang. -

Good Morning in S. California. Taci I agree with your post from last night 100%.
Crime is everywhere no matter how small or big it is everywhere.Very annoying I am very careful when I go out but I will not let little minds and just
plain bad people stop me from living my life to the fullest. The actor is on my mind because as hubby and I recovered from Covid I watched
his storyline.
May He RIP! Johnny Wactor actor.Taci be careful out there on the trails. I am glad you are feeling and doing better. 😎🎈
Taci the basement is also cooler in the summer time we love it. I also have a laundry room
that is where all the clothes are and the ironing board. -
Sheba, I was a big GH fan back in the early 80’s. I realized I was too into it when I was following the Luke and Laura wedding while away at School. Stopped watching all Soap. My Grandfather continues to watch As The World Turns after his wife passed. They watched it together for over 20 years.
Can’t imagine having to take public transportation to a job and worry about being killed. LA needs to fix it,
♥ your Basement.
Still a bit congested but I’m back to walking and hiking.
Have a great evening! -
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. 😎🎈 I was having a little fun with Xango’s Birthday.

Saturday Night
Song by Aaron CarterEverywhere I go
Somebody I know
Want’s to come kick it with me(hey)
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party
Everywhere I go
Somebody I know
Want’s to come kick it with me
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party (it’s a party ya’ll)
Tonight is the night
I’m feelin’ right
To party
I’m callin’ my boys to come roll with me (oh)
End of the week
Word on the street
The strip is crawlin’
With hunnies that can’t get enough of me
There is something in the air
Come with me, we can go anywhere (oh)
Everywhere I go
Somebody I know
Want’s to come kick it with me
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party (it’s a party ya’ll)
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party
Lose track of time
It’s gonna fly
Baby don’t have no worries
Cause there ain’t no better place to be (no, no)
It’s after midnight
Everything’s going right
You’re the only one for me
And you only ever ? to me at the party
Well, there is something in the air
Just take my hand, we can go anywhere (oh)
Everywhere I go
Somebody I know
Want’s to come kick it with me
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party (it’s a party ya’ll)
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party
Bump bump
Chicka chicka
Bump bump
Play some music
Cause I’m crusin’ in my truck, now
With my peoples and I’m doin’ what I want
Have a party and get up in the stuff
It’s a Saturday night
Now it’s like a party day
Got no worries
So party like it’s a holiday
Hey, hey
Everybody go
Hey, hey
What you say
(Break, break, breakdown)
Everywhere we go, it’s on
Saturday night
(Yeah)
We will party, all night long
Saturday night
(Yeah)
Everywhere I go
Somebody I know
Want’s to come kick it with me
It’s Saturday night and we’re gonna have a party (it’s a party ya’ll) -
There is something in the air…🎶Happy Birthday. 🎈

Hips Don’t Lie
Song by ShakiraLadies up in here tonight
No fighting
We got the refugees up in here (no fighting)
No fighting
Shakira, Shakira
I never really knew that she could dance like this (hey)
She make a man wants to speak Spanish
¿Cómo se llama? (Sí), bonita (sí)
Mi casa, su casa (Shakira, Shakira)
Oh, baby, when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise (sí) and keep on (sí)
Reading the signs of my body (uno, dos, tres, cuatro)
I’m on tonight
You know my hips don’t lie (no fighting)
And I’m starting to feel it’s right
All the attraction, the tension
Don’t you see, baby, this is perfection?
Hey, girl, I can see your body moving
And it’s driving me crazy
And I didn’t have the slightest idea
Until I saw you dancing (yeah)
And when you walk up on the dance floor
Nobody cannot ignore the way you move your body, girl (just move)
And everything so unexpected, the way you right and left it
So you can keep on shaking it (let’s go)
I never really knew that she could dance like this
She make a man wants to speak Spanish
¿Cómo se llama? (Sí), bonita (sí)
Mi casa, su casa (Shakira, Shakira)
Oh, baby, when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise (sí) and keep on (sí)
Reading the signs of my body (no fighting)
I’m on tonight
You know my hips don’t lie (no fighting)
And I am starting to feel you, boy
Come on, let’s go, real slow
Don’t you see, baby, así es perfecto?
They know I am on tonight, my hips don’t lie
And I’m starting to feel it’s right
All the attraction, the tension
Don’t you see, baby, this is perfection? (Shakira, Shakira)
Oh, boy, I can see your body moving
Half animal, half man
I don’t, don’t really know what I’m doing
But you seem to have a plan
My will and self-restraint
Have come to fail now, fail now
See, I am doing what I can, but I can’t so you know
That’s a bit too hard to explain (uno, dos, tres, cuatro)
Baila en la calle de noche (yeah)
Baila en la calle de día (let’s go)
Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de día
I never really knew that she could dance like this
She make a man wants to speak Spanish
¿Cómo se llama? (Sí), bonita (sí)
Mi casa, su casa (Shakira, Shakira)
Oh, baby, when you talk like that
You know you got me hypnotized
So be wise (sí) and keep on (sí)
Reading the signs of my body
Señorita, feel the conga
Let me see you move like you come from Colombia
Yeah (ladies sí) (yeah yeah)
(Hey, yeah)
¡Mira en Barranquilla se baila así, say it! (yeah)
En Barranquilla se baila así (yeah)
Hey, brra!
Yeah, she’s so sexy, every man’s fantasy
A refugee like me back with the Fugees from a third world country
I go back like when ‘Pac carried crates for Humpty Humpty
We leave the whole club dizzy
Why the CIA wanna watch us?
Colombians and Haitians
I ain’t guilty, it’s a musical transaction
Bo bop so bop, no more do we snatch ropes
Refugees run the seas ’cause we own our own boats (no fighting)
I’m on tonight, my hips don’t lie
And I’m starting to feel you, boy
Come on, let’s go, real slow
Baby, like this is perfecto (no fighting)
Oh, you know I’m on tonight, my hips don’t lie
And I am starting to feel it’s right
The attraction, the tension
Baby, like this is perfection -

NATIONAL MACAROON DAY | MAY 31
Each year on May 31st, National Macaroon Day celebrates the small coconut cookie that is full of flavor and variety, too. Do not mistake these with the delicate sandwich cookies called macarons. No, these small, but substantial cookies hold their own despite the sometimes mistaken identity. For coconut lovers, this day summons up a little bit of bliss.
The Italians receive credit for creating these sweet morsels sometime around the 8th or 9th century. The recipes later traveled to France. However, in other parts of the world, the once flourless cookie served its purpose during religious observances.
Coconut is one of those love-hate ingredients. ~Chef Marcus Samuelsson
Eventually, the cookie made its way to the United States, where the coconut macaroon takes only a few ingredients to make. Shredded coconut serves as the main ingredient. Usually sweetened, the coconut may also be toasted. Other ingredients include flour, sugar or sweetened condensed milk, and egg whites and flavoring. Once the ingredients are combined, the mixture is dropped by spoonfuls onto baking sheets and baked. Most varieties of coconut macaroons are dipped in milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate. Almonds, pecans, cashews, or other nuts are sometimes added to the cookie.
This cookie is easy to make, even a beginner can succeed with the simple recipe.

NATIONAL SMILE DAY | MAY 31
On May 31st, National Smile Day encourages everyone to wear their best smile!
The first recorded smile on record took place on 126 B.C. Okay, we made that up. But did you smile? Joking aside, we generate a smile when funny things happen or find pleasure in the things we do. Someone we love or enjoy spending time with may be the cause of a grin or beaming look of joy.
Smiles are powerful! They not only create engagement between two people but the more a person smiles, the healthier their brain can be. Smiling has a direct link to our brain and can help to reduce stress.
There is so much a smile can do. Just one smile can brighten someone’s day. It can also improve your day. Smiles are infectious. A healthy smile can develop confidence and generate a new outlook on the world.

NATIONAL UTAH DAY
On May 31st, we celebrate The Beehive State on National Utah Day!
Utah became the 45th state on January 4, 1896, and is home to The Great Salt Lake, a deeply rooted Native American heritage, and a far-reaching desert history.
Travel in the footsteps of Utah’s namesake, the Utes, or the Shoshone, Navajo or Goshute. Follow the trails of early explorers or Mormon settlers. They all lived among the natural arches and bridges formed long ago. These architectural wonders of nature are a cornerstone of Utah.
Find treasure everywhere you look. From the sunrise to the spiraling cliffs and the bejeweled night sky. Catch an unobstructed view of the Milky Way for miles or schedule a trip just in time for a meteor shower. Since Utah has significantly less light pollution, night star viewing is spectacular!
Discover why some still believe the world flat by visiting Bonneville Salt Flats. Home of land speed records and a barren environment, the salt flats were once part of a much larger lake. The Great Salt Lake is one of its remnants.

@@Sheba2011
Hi Sheba, I had a doctor’s appointment today. Will have to go again on Wednesday. Hubby worked half a day and took me.
Today is my Birthday🎂🎂, 67 years but I feel older😆.
Have a great weekend.
You take care Sheba. -
I just got up long enough to see you had a birthday yesterday. I wish you a better year and one that will bring you good health and many more birthdays to celebrate. Though you feel old, remember you are “younger than springtime.” As you heal, one day you will wake up feeling not only better, but spryer and you will be able to tackle all the things you did before only better. Give yourself time to heal and take one day at a time. Everything will fall into place. Just have patience.
Oodie

Hi and good afternoon. I adore the bun bun. Miss velveteen rabbit and I hope where ever she is, she is smiling. I also remember her saying that she was in a lot of pain in her back and I hope and pray that it was nothing serious.
I fell asleep again at the computer. It was before midnight and when I awoke it was shortly before 6 am.. I was able to add a few more things to the recycle and it is still waiting at the curb. Watered the plants and then did laundry. I am about to check the dryer to fold and sort. Hopefully, within an hour on to the Farmer’s Market and then a fill up for the car and on to see hubby.
Hubby was able to straighten out the bad leg last night. Best of all, no pain. He is now able to sleep on his side. This, for me, is a huge milestone. He is saying “he will walk, but don’t expect me to run.” I am taking a different route to see him because the other is closed for repairs. So instead of a 15 minute drive, I now have a half hour. This will continue for another week or more.
I am still trying to bring the keyboard and stand. However, not sure how it will do in the hot sun, so until I am able to drive direct will leave it home.I see more storms are on the horizon for you and ours will start next week. The weather people are watching the tropic and there is something brewing in the Caribbean. Not sure at this time if it will fizzle or become something ominous. Not sure what is off the coast of Africa. Looking for the flashlights and battery operated lights as I use the keyboard. Thus far, nothing worrisome.
Hope you three have a great day. Stay safe.
-
We are celebrating Xango Birthday all weekend. 😎🎈😘I am so glad your husband
is getting better that man wants to come home.Oodie try not to do too much. I wonder if you can have a slice of cake alright you can
just look at it. No harm in that. 🎈😎Well enjoy the view. LOL! 🎈

Sheba, your finished basement sounds awesome. Can we move into it? haha.
In Wi our basement was for storage mostly. I think my brother had a ping pong table there and well a few parties too. I never liked going into it.
Yay to Xango on a new Birthday year!
Have a great weekend everyone! -
Sheba, adding that i read you were thinking about the GH actor murdered and wanted to let you know it’s serious in LA, Santa Monica, Venice etc… and public transportation is dangerous. It’s in the online news if you’re feeling brave. I have to take my news in bits. Too overwhelming.

Good afternoon in Oz. Perfect day in the ‘burgh, sunny, no humidity and around 75.🌞 Another one tomorrow then rain again Sunday.🌧 Just in time for hubs golf game.
Furnace and A/C are in! Yesterday installers were here from 8:00-6:00 and got it all done in one day. That’s a big load off my mind. Getting warmer next week so the A/C will be tested.
I think I will try to relax this weekend, it’s been a busy week. Maybe I’ll make another apple martini and sit out on the deck.🍸 The only thing I don’t have is an ocean to gaze at – in my second life.🌊
Sending end of May hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Billy Joel Lyrics
“Uptown Girl”Uptown girl
She’s been living in her uptown world
I bet she’s never had a backstreet guy
I bet her mamma never told her why
I’m gonna try for anUptown girl
She’s been living in her white-bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now, she’s looking for a downtown man
That’s what I amAnd when she knows what she wants from her time
And when she wakes up and makes up her mindShe’ll see I’m not so tough
Just because I’m in love with anUptown girl
You know I’ve seen her in her uptown world
She’s getting tired of her high-class toys
And all the presents from her uptown boys
She’s got a choiceUptown girl
You know I can’t afford to buy her pearls
But maybe, someday, when my ship comes in
She’ll understand what kind of guy I’ve been
And then I’ll winAnd when she’s walking, she’s looking so fine
And when she’s talking, she’ll say that she’s mineShe’ll say I’m not so tough
Just because I’m in love with anUptown girl
She’s been living in her white-bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now, she’s looking for a downtown man
That’s what I amUptown girl, she’s my uptown girl
You know I’m in love with an uptown girl, my uptown girl
You know I’m in love with an uptown girl, my uptown girl
You know I’m in love with an uptown girl, my uptown girl -

NATIONAL MINT JULEP DAY | MAY 30
National Mint Julep Day on May 30th each year sets up a refreshing toast to summer. Each year, people around the country gather for a glass of mint julep! This refreshing southern classic is a traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby.
A classic mint julep is made with a mint leaf, bourbon, sugar, and water. In the Southern states, where mint julep is more associated with the cuisine, spearmint is the mint of choice. Preparation of the drink may vary from one bartender to another.
Some believe the mint julep originated in the southern United States sometime during the 18th century.
The term “julep” is generally defined as a sweet drink, particularly one used as a vehicle for medicine.
During the 19th century, Americans also enjoyed a gin-based julep.
Each year, Churchill Downs serves almost 120,000 mint juleps over the two-day period of the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby.
May 2008 – Churchill Downs unveiled the world’s largest mint julep glass (6-foot tall). -
NATIONAL WATER A FLOWER DAY | MAY 30
Recognized each year on May 30th, National Water A Flower Day recognizes the season of caring for our garden plants.
This time of year, our flower gardens should be in full bloom. Keeping them hydrated sometimes seems like a full-time job. It’s often a therapeutic business, caring for a living thing. The more they’re nurtured, the more they thrive.
It’s important to know whether your flowers like damp soil or to be the drier side. Newly planted seeds will need daily watering until germination. Most plants prefer well-drained soil. If they are potted, they may require daily watering. However, if they are planted in the ground or are heat-resistant plants, they may require less frequent watering.
The holiday also offers an opportunity to care for the gardens of those who may be homebound or in the hospital. Take the time to visit a friend who may need some cheering up by bringing them some freshly watered flowers.
-
LOOMIS DAY | May 30
Each year on May 30th, Loomis Day recognizes the man who received the patent for wireless telegraphy in 1872. The Washington, D.C. dentist, Mahlon Loomis, received US patent number 129,971titled “An Improvement in Telegraphing” on wireless telegraphy in July of 1872 beating Guglielmo Marconi’s United Kingdom patent by nearly 25 years.
Born on July 21, 1826, Loomis was also the inventor of artificial teeth and one of the earliest inventors of wireless communication. Loomis died on October 13, 1886.
Leading up to his patent, Loomis conducted many experiments in electricity using kites flying miles apart in the mountains of Virginia. Then in 1868 before several scientists and Congressmen, he demonstrated his wireless telegraphic system. While he couldn’t explain how he was able to produce the transmission, he appealed to Congress for an appropriation to incorporate the Loomis Aerial Telegraph Company for research. Senator Charles Sumner introduced the bill, and on May 30, 1872, the Committee on Commerce reported poorly on the measure. Stripped of its appropriations, it eventually passed in 1873 strictly as a bill of incorporation.

Good day in sunny Florida. How are you feeling today? Oz is warmish already. 🎈😎
Hey take it easy today I hope you will be able to eat solid foods soon. I love your
meals. 😘Xango I hope you get lots of good sweet rain. Soon you will be planting and making
your spices. How is the family in Brazil? I know they are concerned about you too. -
Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈I hope your Lake will soon have lots of sweet
gentle rain. 💕Oz is cloudy but warm and we know what is coming later on this evening. I am fine with
it.Oodie I hope the KP will soon be over. I am using a lot of my Clean Boss and you are
right it works on a lot of things. The smell does not bother me as I open the windows
and mother nature takes the scent right out. I hate germs so this product is great. I wipe
down my entire kitchen and all three bathrooms with it. I also do the Patio table and furniture
outdoors. 😎I hope your husband’s PT is going well I hope I am right that he is getting stronger. 🎈
I know how much you like Seashells maybe a trip to the beach in the near future will work
for both of you. 😎🎈 Oodie let me know how you are doing today. -
Good morning in S. California. 🎈😎💕How are you today. Taci here is a little trivia
about Tornado Alley.Which states is Tornado Alley?
While there is no official designation, the area known as Tornado Alley is generally designated as between Texas and South Dakota. AccuWeather identified the area as northern Texas northward through Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri and parts of Louisiana, Iowa, Nebraska and eastern Colorado.
Taci you are right we are prepared our friends had their power restored yesterday they were
without power for five days and had to throw out certain foods. We have storms that can wreck havoc in our area that is what I worry about the most.
The winds can be very strong and take out power lines, trees and anything in it’s path.We make sure all the cell phones are fully charged my husband is a Mr. Peabody he can
fix and come up with neat ideas on how to stay safe.I am so glad you are feeling better. Hey Happy Trails To You. 🎈😘💕😎🎶
This reminds me of you and your family. 😎
-
Sheba, If people are a bit prepared then it makes things easier to live in Tornado Alley. I might be too old to try it. I did live in WI for HS and the area had Tornadoes and sirens for the Farmers.
I recall the term Lake affect and we lived near it so they rarely touched down. I remember all the info Cindy once posted about her relatives in TX and it was tragic. Probably heading to AZ at some point but still don’t want to up and leave my son. If he gets a promotion or new job and it’s in AZ then we are outta here.
Hiked today inland a bit, and it was about 80, too hot but good to get it done,
Have a great evening. Hope your house has a basement! -
Good evening I talk about my Tudor House all the time. I have a full remodel basement
that looks better than some people’s apartment just saying in case we have to be down
there a bit it’s our family room. This large finished space has TV, Computer, Radio and all
things comfortable. I have never lived in Oz without a basement or Central Air those are the
two things I must have. 😎It’s not so bad all the time tonight we are in the 60’s with rain on the way. I say bring it.
Hubby did the yards when he got home from work. 💕😘😎I want to go to a different place too later down the pike and I am looking very closely at
Colorado due to the fact I have many blood relatives. 💕Hey I hope your son do get a promotion. 🎈 Don’t over do the hiking I hope it cools down
a bit there in S. California. 💕I am still thinking about the young actor who was killed. -
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. 🎈😘😎Busy week for us all so I will make something
to put the chill on. LOL!Take a sip relax and then repeat. 😘This is for your mom and sister too if they want to partake.😎
Wishing you a great day sending cool vibes to you and Jake. 🎈

Wishing on a Star
Song by Rose RoyceI’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a dream
To follow what it means
I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a dream
To follow what it means
And I wish on all the rainbows that I see
I wish on all the people who really dream
And I’m wishing on tomorrow, praying it’ll come
And I’m wishing on all the lovin’ we’ve ever done
I never thought I’d see
A time when you would be
So far away from home
So far away from me
Just think of all the moments that we’d spent
I just can’t let you go, for me you were meant
And I didn’t mean to hurt you, but I know
That in the game of love you reap what you sow
I feel it’s time we should make up, baby
I feel it’s time for us to get back together
And make the best of things, oh, baby
When we’re together, whether or never
I feel it’s time we should make up, baby
I feel it’s time for us to get back together
And make the best of things, oh, baby
When we’re together, whether or never
I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a dream
To follow what it means
And I wish on all the rainbows that I see
I wish on all the people we’ve ever been
And I’m hopin’ on all the days to come and days to go
And I’m hopin’ on days of lovin’ you so
I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a star, oh
And I wish on all the rainbows that I see
I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a star
And I wish on all the rainbows that I see
I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a star, oh, ah
Oh, baby, baby, I wish
I’m wishing on a star, oh
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a star, baby
To follow wherever you might be -

Let’s Groove
Song by Earth, Wind & FireLet this groove, get you to move,
it’s alright, alright
let this groove, set in your shoes,
stand up, alright
Gonna tell you what you can do,
with my love, alright
Let you know girl you’re looking good
you’re out of sight and alright
Move yourself and glide like a 747
loose yourself in the sky among the clouds in the heavens
Let this groove, light up your fuse, alright
Let this groove, set in your shoes
stand up, alright
Let me tell you what you can do
with my love, alright
Gotta let you know girl you’re looking good
you’re out of sight, you’re alright
Tell the DJ to play your favorite tune
then you know it’s okay
What you found is happiness, now
Let this groove, get you to move, alright
Let this groove set in your shoes
stand up, alright
You will find peace of mind on the floor
Take a little time, come and see, you and me
make a little sign, I’ll be there after a while
if you want my love
We can boogie on down, down, down, down
Let’s groove tonight
share the spice of life
baby slice it right
we’re gonna groove tonight -

NATIONAL FLIP FLOP DAY
Each year on the Wednesday after Memorial Day, National Flip Flop Day encourages us to wear our favorite flip flops and show them off!
Thong style sandals are by no means new to footwear. They’ve been around for thousands of years. However, the term “flip flop” has applied to flat-soled sandals with straps between the first and second toes and across the top of the foot since the 1960s. The term also describes someone who changes their mind or an electronic component.
This day strictly recognizes the footwear that makes a flip-flopping sound as we walk, slapping the back of our feet as we head to the beach or make way for the pool. They come in all shades and colors, beaded, bejeweled, and bedazzled. Some are made of leather and cork.
The lightweight footwear is designed to protect our tender feet from the hot ground and sand. They’re also easy to remove and put on quickly. Many flip flops go from the beach to semi-formal dining in an instant, too!

NATIONAL PAPERCLIP DAY
National Paperclip Day on May 29th each year celebrates a small but handy invention. Yes, even the paperclip has its own day of honor. The day celebrates the well-known piece of curved wire that keeps our papers together and helps us stay organized.
While many may have claimed earlier invention of the paperclip, according to the Early Office Museum, Samuel B. Fay received the first patent for a “bent wire paper clip” in the United States in 1867. The original intention of Fay’s clip was to attach tickets to fabric. However, U.S. patent 64,088 recognized that paperclips could also hold papers together.
As many as 50 others received patents for similar designs before 1899. One other notable name receiving a patent for his paperclip design in the United States was Erlman J. Wright in 1877. At that time, he advertised his clip for use in fastening newspapers.
The Gem paperclip, which was most likely in production in Britain in the early 1870s by The Gem Manufacturing Company, was never patented. It is the most common type of wire paperclip and is still in use today. It was introduced to the United States around 1892, and in 1904, Cushman & Denison registered a trademark for the “Gem” name in connection with paperclips. Paperclips are still sometimes called Gem clips.
Today, paperclips come in various sizes, shapes, and colors and can make your paperwork look more fun and lively.
Paperclips are not just for holding papers together. There are many other things that you can do with them!

NATIONAL COQ AU VIN DAY
Each year on May 29th, National Coq Au Vin Day celebrates a delicious French dish. Coq au vin is French braise of chicken, cooked with wine, lardons (salt pork), mushrooms, and garlic.
A French staple, Coq au vin translates to “rooster with wine.” It’s a rustic, peasant-style dish that is easy to serve when entertaining because a lot of the work can be done in advance. And since we all celebrated National Wine Day just a few days ago, you might be prepared and have an extra bottle on hand just for this recipe.
Different legends tell of Coq au vin back in the days of Gaul and Julius Caesar. However, the first documented recipe was in the early 20th century. There was a somewhat similar recipe, poulet au vin blanc, that appeared in an 1864 cookbook.

Hi Sheba, I hope you had some time to enjoy your holiday with your hubby.
Grill something delicious too. 😋
It’s hot, hot, hot here and not a afternoon shower.
Hubby went back to work, he needed a rest.😆😂Take care Sheba.
-
You have a good sense of humor with hubby I love it. 💕🎈Good to see getting back
to yourself. Take it easy. Oz will have rain on Thursday and Friday and I am sending some
to you😘🎈 -
Love the pink heart. Hubby seems to have more energy. He hasn’t fallen asleep while I am there. It’s amazing that his energy level has climbed in the past week or so. I try to leave between 9:30 and 10pm so I can be home and still have the energy to do whatever.
Today is a day off from KP duties. Maybe tomorrow as well. This will give me an opportunity to make my stops at the Farmer’s Market and Aldi’s. Hubby gave me a list. I will comply. He hasn’t done this in months.
I have one outdoor plant that needs some water and then I will be off and running. Temp. will be in the upper 90s, however, the humidity is 66%. Pollen count is high for grass only. Still no rain in sight. Our lake is now looking like it has started to dry up. Not good for the fish or turtles. Very few birds around as well. Something is going on. Not sure what. Very sad.
-
I wish I could send you some good sweet rain. 🎈😘💕Oz is 70 degrees right now and if
it stayed this way for a couple of months I would not care. My flowers and yards will flourish
with the rain and coolness. 💕😘I am about to feed the cats and take a nice Korres Shower.
I hope you get some rest and so glad hubby is having more energy. YAY! I hope it means
he is trying to get home. 🎈Hey after hubby I would like to be the taste tester for your new cookware. 😎
-
Sheba, hello. Read yesterday’s post about all the storms and Tornado Alley. I ‘m guessing you ‘re used to it and well prepared. Stay Safe.
-
-
Good afternoon, taking a breather right now. You must have ESP. Yesterday you posted a green martini (which I didn’t see until today) and what did I have at our dinner last evening? An apple martini!!🍸 That is my favorite mixed drink and I haven’t had one in sooo long. I enjoyed that more than the food, shame on me.🤭
Mom and sis are fine, we did our thing today.🥰 Gearing up for the installation tomorrow. Hope all goes well and they are done in one day. And not too much dust and dirt.😣
Hope all is well at your house and you have a few days of calm weather. It’s a shame we have too much rain⛈ and the gals in Florida have none. Mother Nature needs to check her balance.
Can’t believe May is almost over. Geez, time is racing by. Hugs to you, Poppy and the kitties.🤗💖
-
I knew your week was a busy one having major work done is no easy feat.
I know in a few days you will enjoy it all.Glad you like the drinks I love the fact you are a good sport about it. 😘😎🎈
Sweet dreams. 😎

NATIONAL BRISKET DAY
Every year on May 28th, National Brisket Day celebrates one of the nine prime cuts of beef. Brisket comes from the breast or lower chest of beef or veal and when prepared correctly, renders both flavor and tenderness.
Brisket is a tough and relatively inexpensive cut of meat. While it requires some patience to cook brisket to tenderness, the reward is well worth the effort. Select a well-marbled cut of meat. The fat will keep the brisket moist and add flavor to the final product. Season it well and give it a dark sear. This will seal in the juices. Cook it slow and cook it long.
It can be cooked in the oven or over indirect heat over charcoal or wood. Many times oak, pecan, hickory, or mesquite is added to the other hardwoods to enhance the flavor. Brisket will be fork tender when it is fully cooked and is then served with or without a sauce.
If you have the grill fired up, go ahead and add some sweet corn and cauliflower, too. Both love the grill and they also complement brisket very well. There are plenty of recipes on the internet that will satisfy all sorts of tastes. Coleslaw and pasta salad also goes well with brisket. Add fresh fruit for this holiday. Depending on where you live, watermelon might be coming into season, but a fresh Waldorf salad would fit the bill, too.
-
NATIONAL HAMBURGER DAY
National Hamburger Day on May 28th wraps up National Burger Month and also ushers in the summer grilling season.
Hamburger. Seasoned ground beef, grilled, and placed between two slices of bread or a bun. We even top them with sauteed onions, peppers, pickles, sliced onions, or cheese. Add condiments such as ketchup, mustard, or mayo. Any of these combinations create a modern American version of a hamburger.
The world’s largest hamburger was 2,566 lb – 9 oz and achieved in Pilsting, Germany, on 9 July 2017.
Much controversy surrounds the origin of the hamburger. However, it most likely first appeared in the 19th or early 20th centuries. Over the years, the hamburger has become a culinary icon in the United States.
-
NATIONAL BEEF BURGER DAY
If you hear a sizzle and your mouth begins to water, it just might be National Beef Burger Day! On May 28th and all summer long, there’s no better time to enjoy a juicy beef burger. The day is all about kicking off the grilling season and honoring America’s favorite grilling protein – beef!
A beef burger starts with real ground beef on a bun or between two slices of bread. And don’t forget the toppings like cheese, onions, pickles, and condiments. Each one allows for the perfect customization – the mouthwatering possibilities are endless. Of course, some of us like ours double stacked, and others prefer them spicy. Add those seasonings, too, if you want. What’s really important is what’s in the middle – that delicious beef burger.

Tuesday Afternoon
Song by The Moody BluesTuesday afternoon
I’m just beginning to see
Now I’m on my way
It doesn’t matter to me
Chasing the clouds away
Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I’ve got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh
I’m looking at myself reflections of my mind
It’s just the kind of day to leave myself behind
So gently swaying through the fairyland of love
If you’ll just come with me you’ll see the beauty of
Tuesday afternoon
Tuesday afternoon
Tuesday afternoon
I’m just beginning to see
Now I’m on my way
It doesn’t matter to me
Chasing the clouds away
Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I’ve got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh -

Good morning in S. California. Taci I read and heard on major news outlet that an actor
from GH was killed in S. California someone shot him trying to steal a part off of his car.
OMG! What is the world coming too. Taci you were right about a lot of things.I hope you are feeling better just take your time and do what you need to do. 😎🎈
Soon you will be back on the Trails. 🎈💕
I hope you and the family had a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend.
-
Sheba, hope all is well in Oz. I hope they find those murderers and that they go to jail and that they stay in jail. Catalytic Converter theft is high here. Many people with security cameras show videos from the late night hours of vehicles driving around to steal them also people walking checking cars for unlocked doors, breaking car door windows. It’s bad, If you don’t already know, do not leave your garage opener in your car.
Went for a hike yesterday although I wasn’t sure how it would go. It ended up being great and i am feeling much better so far this week.
Are your rain storms over for now? I checked out the weather and read that Kansas gets a lot of Thunderstorms. -
We are part of Tornado Alley which covers several other States. I call it OZ for a reason
we do have a lot of bad storms. We are putting things back together. Taci on the news
media many lost their lives and property in other States. So sad. This is Mother Nature and you cannot
control her.The actor who was killed was a pretty good actor. I was watching GH when I had Covid
and this show was taking the stress and concern of having it off a bit in my mind.
Sadly he was killed on the show as well I often wonder why they had to get rid of him.May his memory be a blessing to his friends and family. I saw his girlfriend and she was
really upset I would be to. Why kill over a auto part? This actor was so young.Taci it happens here to and that is why we have a good security camera. All around the
property. Hey if they want it take it just don’t shoot innocent people over a few bucks. When I am out at night I make sure everything is locked up. I get so tired of seeing
senseless things happening to people. SMH!Glad you are on the move again. YAY! Hey one day at a time. Kick that cold virus to the
curb. 😎Enjoy your evening no more thunderstorms until Thursday Night. I still know people who
do not have power. -
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. 🎈😎😘Lady I read your post from last night.
I was too tired to post when we got home late last night I took a shower and went
to bed.I see you have a busy schedule all week. Lady my schedule is full also. LOL! It is what it is.
We are women and we do what we have to do.Say hello to your mom and sister for me.
Good luck with all your projects especially the HVAC.
This is a little something to take the chill off of you. 😎🎈
Sending relaxing hugs to you and Jake. 🎈😎😘💕

MEMORIAL DAY
Each year in the United States, Americans observe the Federal holiday, Memorial Day, the last Monday in May. It honors and remembers all men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day is also a day to remember all loved ones who have passed away.
Traditionally on Memorial Day, the flag of the United States of America is raised briskly to the top of the staff then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position where it remains until noon. At noon, it is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.
When the flag is at half-staff, the position is in remembrance of the more than one million men and women who gave their lives for their country. Raising the flag at noon signifies the nation lives, that the country is resolved not to let their sacrifice be in vain but to rise up in their honor and continue to fight for liberty and justice for all.
In the United States, Memorial Day also traditionally marks the beginning of summer.
HOW TO OBSERVE Memorial Day
Attend Memorial Day services in your community. In your own way, pay tribute in remembrance of service members who have died while serving. Visit a veterans’ cemetery to honor those who’ve impacted your life. Use #MemorialDay to post on social media.MEMORIAL DAY HISTORY
Honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the military, communities, individuals, and organizations have kept Memorial Day in various forms in the United States since the end of the Civil War. General John Logan first called for a nationwide day of remembrance on May 5, 1868. The observance was called Decoration Day, and it was observed on May 30th, 1868.Decoration Day
General James Garfield spoke at Arlington National Cemetery with Generals Grant, Howard, Logan, Pane, Wool, and Hancock in attendance. Volunteers also decorated the graves of 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers.Across the country, humble tributes occurred on that first Decoration Day. Just outside Fort Stevens near Washington, D.C., there was a small cemetery where 40 soldiers were buried, one of whom belonged to a widow from Northern Vermont. He was one of three sons she lost to the war. On Decoration Day, she went to the cemetery carrying 40 wreaths for 40 graves.
Someone placed a laurel wreath upon the head of a Lincoln statue at City Hall, Washington, D.C.
In Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton Railroads transported passengers to the Spring Grove Cemetery. As a tribute, communities displayed flags at half-mast along the routes. More volunteers placed floral wreaths on the soldiers’ graves, and speeches were made. Many of the first Decoration Days recognized only the Union soldiers. However, other events included the Confederate soldiers as well. Over time, the day grew to include all those soldiers lost during the conflict.
Decoration Day gradually became known as Memorial Day and now honors all U.S. service members who have died during a military conflict. Memorial Day continued to be observed on May 30th for many years. Then, in 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act of 1968. Since 1971, Memorial Day has been observed the last Monday of May.

NATIONAL GRAPE DAY
Today is May 27 and we are celebrating the sweetness of National Grape Day by encouraging everyone enjoy one of natures most delicious foods.
Grapes are one of the most popular fruits from around the world. National Grape Day on May 27 celebrates the juicy and flavorful varieties available for snacking, sharing, and even drinking.
Archeologists say grapes have been around for 130 million years. In fact, they are one of the oldest plants on earth. Early records indicate grapes were originally cultivated 6,000 to 7,000 years ago for trading in western Asia, including Egypt, Iran, Israel and Cyprus. Interestingly, grapes were also found in tombs during the pre-Christ era. Today, there are nearly 10,000 known varieties of grapes from around the world, with about 1,300 specific varieties found in vineyards for making wine.
5 Common Table Grapes
Concord grapes are a purple grape with a sugary taste. They have large seeds and are best when used in candy, pies, jellies, and juice.
Crimson Seedless is a reddish-green grape most commonly found in grocery stores. This grape is firm and has a subtle sweetness with a hint of tartness.
Sultana grapes, or Thompson Seedless grapes, are possibly the oldest grape available today. This greenish/white grape is a smaller table grape with a sweet, juicy flavor.
Niagara grapes, or white Concord grapes, are a light green grape that has a sweet, lemony flavor. Niagara grapes are great for making white grape juice.
Flame Seedless grapes is a popular table grape and purchased often because of availability. The grape is a purple-reddish color and is a hybrid of a Thompson Seedless and the Cardinal grape.
Vino
According to archeological finds, the art of winemaking goes back about 6,000 to 7,000 BCE after discovering wine production in the Georgia region. However, many archeologists believe wine was made long before this time. Interestingly, the winemaking discovery has allowed scientists to analyze the grapes discovered by archeologists to determine the evolution and histories of grapes. What grapes make good wine? It is important to understand wine grapes are smaller and sweeter than grapes we buy in the grocery store. Though table grapes and wine grapes are very similar, wine grapes require specialized care when growing because of their use.
Wine grapes grow all over the world. In fact, specific regions produce the best grapes for wine. However, some people are unaware the name of wine actually reflects the name of the grape.
6 Common Wine Grapes
Merlot
Pinot Noir
Cabernet Sauvignon
Chardonnay
Riesling
Pinot Gris
The flavor of wine is depends on the region the grapes grow. Vine management during the growing season requires skill and dedication to ensure the harvest season is a successful one. Picking grapes at the exact ripeness is important to deliver a delicious wine product. -
NATIONAL GRAPE POPSICLE DAY
Since summer is just around the corner, May 27th calls for warm weather, sunshine, and National Grape Popsicle Day.
In San Francisco, California, in 1905, 11-yr-old Frank Epperson was outside on his porch, mixing water with a white powdered flavoring to make soda. Upon going inside, he left it there on the porch with the stirring stick still in it. That night the temperature reached a record low and the following morning, Frank discovered the drink had frozen to the stick.
Years later, in 1922, Epperson introduced his treat at a fireman’s ball where it was a huge success. Then in 1923, he made and sold his frozen treat-on-a-stick at an amusement park in Alameda, California. Epperson applied for a patent in 1924 for his frozen confectionery, which he called “Epsicle” ice pop. He then renamed it “Popsicle“.
Popsicles are one of summertime’s favorite treats for kids of all ages. National Grape Popsicle Day honors one of the most popular flavors!

Hi. The temp outside is really very hot with high humidity. I was outside to do a few things and those few things will have to wait until tomorrow. Summer came all of a sudden. It’s been like this for at least a couple of weeks if not longer.
I know you miss your outdoor seasonings and spices. If you have a sunny window, why not plant a couple of the ones you use most often in a planter If you have a floor area that also gets the sun, you can start there with a dish underneath to catch the overflow of soil and water. Put a basket on your walker and you can carry them anywhere. Just be sure the planter is light weight. You can spritz them at the kitchen sink or use a light weight watering can. By the time they start sprouting, you will be feeling better.
Hubby has trouble swallowing. If I bring him food, it has to be soft. Ice cream has come in handy. So has spaghetti and meatballs with sauce. He loves macaroni and cheese. He keeps asking for apples, but those for now are a no no. However, I will try one as an experiment in a stir fry. The other thing he keeps asking for is my stuffing with chicken. That I will try to do today. I have a small chopper and a blender, but will see how the chopping goes. I do have chicken in the freezer. Will add some surprises to the mix. I love experimenting.
Did you ever think of getting a twin hospital bed for downstairs. Health insurance should be able to cover the cost or part of it. When you are able to climb those stairs, you can have it picked up or you can donate it. I need to get one for hubby and thus I will be donating our queen metal bed and purchasing a twin for myself. Luckily our Master can accommodate both.
I am also brining yogurt mixed with blueberries and dragon fruit. I nuked the fruit together and it’s like having ice cream with fruit. I no longer can eat the Yogurt because it’s fermented, but maybe it’s something you can enjoy. Also puddings. Oh, in case you don’t know, please stick with your pasteurized milk. They have found that bird flu can be carried in fresh milk. I’m also not sure if our Farmer’s Market are still selling it. I will be there either today or tomorrow and will let you know. Seems some farmers have contacted bird flu from their cattle. So far there have only been a couple of cases. Yikes!!!!
The new farmer’s market is now near me. They have all kinds of take out food as well as homemade pizza and donuts. I sometimes grab a sandwich and a salad to eat with hubby. There is talk that they may be going to St. Pete. It is Amish owned so there are no preservatives added. I love their fruit and veggies, especially when there is a sale.
Have a great day. Stay inside.

Quick note. I’m running very late. Made a stuffing concoction using the new pan. I am totally impressed. Nothing sticking and the food came out amazing. I just loaded it into a thermos type container to bring with me. Hubby has been wanting a stuffing with chicken and all the fixings. The only missing items are cranberries and chestnuts. Though I have both, left them out due to others being allergic to nuts and me not having fresh cranberries. That will have to wait until I am back on Cape. Right now, they are swimming in water and will not ripen before either September or October.
Hope everyone is safe. That includes the outdoor kitties.

Hi. I used the new pan today and I am loving it. Hubby has been asking for stuffing with chicken and so today I decided to make it. The new pan really came in handy and nothing stuck to the bottom. It will be an easy clean up. I am impressed. Hubby loved the stuffing mixture. Hardest part was putting the veggies and chicken through the new electric chopper. I also forgot to add pineapples. If I bring another batch tomorrow, will add it .
I see you aren’t feeling that well. There is a possibility that you may have Covid again. Definitely check it out because some of the meds that are used need a prescription. They do work. Hope you feel better in no time.

This is late for me. Ran around doing a bunch of small errands, stopped at the cemetery, cooked dinner, did some bills then sat down to watch the hockey game.🏒
Thanks for the early cocktail, I’ll take one each day. Tomorrow I need to clean out the laundry room, do some yard work, clean up and meet our financial advisor for dinner. Wednesday is nails and lunch with mom and sis, Thursday the furnace and A/C installation (I hope they will finish in one day) and Friday is haircut and grocery shopping, whew!🤪
I hope your day was smooth, hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
