Conversation 25

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 25 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. โœจ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. ๐ŸŒนโœจ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Canโ€™t Get You Out of My Head
    Song by Kylie Minogue

    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy, your lovin’ is all I think about
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy, its more than I dare to think about
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy, your lovin’ is all I think about
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy, its more than I dare to think about
    Every night
    Every day
Just to be there in your arms
    Won’t you stay
    Won’t you lay
Stay forever and ever, and ever, and ever
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy, your lovin’ is all I think about
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy, its more than I dare to think about
There’s a dark secret in me
Don’t leave me left in your heart
    Set me free
    Feel the need in me
    Set me free
Stay forever and ever, and ever, and ever
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I just can’t get you out of my head
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I just can’t get you out of my head
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I just can’t get you out of my head
    La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

      @xango,

Good day in Florida I am wishing you and hubby a nice Saturday. Oz did get some serious
rain and we really needed it. Everything is growing very well as it should be. ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ’•

I just got back from Colorado last night it was not a pleasure trip but a necessary one.
Anytime I can see my mom I am there. I will talk about that later.

I hope you are feeling well and whatever you are dealing with I hope for the best. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hello Sheba, Glad to hear from you. I wonder what was happening.
I am sorry you are going through so much, no one deserves so much on their shoulders. I hope and pray that the rest of this year and next year things become better, and life sweeter for you.

I feel great, I am definitely better, just have to adjust my diet some. And since I enjoy eating so much. Specially the items I am not suppose to eat like real cheese, heavy Whipping Cream, real butter, sweets, bread and other such foods. I have managed to keep off the weight I lost, haven’t gained it back.

Have a blessed rest of the weekend. Take care Sheba ๐ŸŒน

Read your note and I feel for you. That being said, here’s some ideas. I drink the Almond milk now. With all the hoopla going on with Bird Flu hitting livestock and people, I am trying to be more careful. I definitely would stick with butter instead of some of the alternatives. I am positive you can have the cheese, just in moderation. Make your breads with Almond Flour, Coconut Flour or an alternative. I recommended a book to a few people. It’s called “Wheat Belly,” and it is written by a physician. It is not an easy venture, but, it is helpful in so many ways. I noticed the last time I was in the Farmer’s Market (Tuesday), they now carry many items with Almond Flour. The book I mentioned above will be good for your hubby as well. I do enjoy the Almond milk. It comes in plain, vanilla and chocolate. I still enjoy pizza, spaghetti, noodles, macaroni, etc. but not on a daily or weekly basis. With the hot weather in Florida and daily alerts, I have been eating more salads and fish and chicken. I still love my soups as well no matter hot how the weather is. Because of my sulfite allergies I now have to stay away from corn syrup, cinnamon, corn starch fructose. I no longer purchase orange juice in bottle form or cartons. Gong to see hubby everyday, I need to pass Tropicana. The smells coming from that plant has nauseated me. It is worse than any scent, even body odor. That is because the oranges sit on a shelf for at least 6 months for fermentation. I pass this plant twice per day and there is no way that I can use a different route. I hope this helps you in some way. Oh, forgot to mention that I enjoy a cauliflower crust for pizza now and then. It gives pizza a different flavor. Also use spaghetti squash quite often.

Hi, how are you and your husband doing?
Thanks for all the suggestions. Many of the items you listed hubby uses, he is diabetic, type two.
As for me, I don’t care for almond milk, or baked goods with almond flour. It’s dry and to crumbling. Also almond flour has lots of fat. Hubby makes his cookies with almond flour, chickpea flour etc. Lately he has tried making bagels with cottage cheese. A recipe he saw on YouTube.
I am eating fats in moderation, cutting my fat intake by 15 percent daily. And staying away from things that is packaged and processed. But I still make my bread. I think it’s better than store bread that has a ton of chemicals and preservatives.
I generally eat lots of vegetables and fruits. No juice, no sodas, no alcohol and don’t smoke.
But lately I have the cravings for beef, when I generally eat mostly chicken and some seafood.
      Take care Oodiebom.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ’•I hope this day finds you doing well.
How is your husband so far? I hope he keeps making progress to get out of the Rehab.
The sooner the better as long as he can help himself.

I know you are super busy wishing you a nice Saturday if you are out at the Markets.
Florida has such great Markets. ๐Ÿ’•

I have a lot to get caught up on I have been in Colorado for almost two weeks.
Family issues and matters I just got back last night. I took my laptop and kept it moving. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

My family remains are now in Minnesota in the family plot this is a bit much.
I know in time this too shall pass.

Had a feeling that you were in Colorado or somewhere other than Kansas. I am praying that your mom is OK and even though there was a lot of sadness, you were able to see your brothers and sisters with your nieces and nephews.

I had my lab work yesterday for an upcoming doctor’s appointment. Like you, I am hoping for great results.

I was feeling awful yesterday afternoon and still went to see hubby. The air quality here is on high alert and the headaches, need I say more??? Hubby wanted to drive me home or better yet walk me to the car. He now has his cell and can contact me anytime, though he doesn’t. I can sympathize with the Biden family because hubby was the same way. Notice I said was. Hubby would start a sentence and forget and would stop talking altogether. He also had memory lapses which I never mentioned. Dementia does run in his family on his mother’s side. I suspected that we would need either an Assisted Living situation or a convalescent home. However, he has now regained almost everything. In hubby’s case I think everything was due to the two bouts of Covid and not sleeping as he should. So nice to walk in and have him tell me things that took place after I left or something he heard or saw on the news from the week prior. It seems like overnight his mind got better. But in reality it was months and months. Now, all that is left is for him to be able to stand on one leg and maybe take a step or two. I’m just hoping he will be able to at least stand and then I can help him from point A to other venues.
His mind is no longer frozen. His eyes moves with you. Hubby is almost totally back to normal, or whatever normal is.

Yesterday afternoon, while I was unloading the car of my freezer bag and Kindle, it started to rain. Huge droplets. I made it up the two narrow steps to rehab when there was a lightning bolt that hit the pavement just behind my vehicle and then a large clap of thunder. I was able to make it inside just as the rains really started. Much needed rain came down and then some. This event lasted a good three hours. Never heard any thunder from inside. But the rain became a shower and it was light. Never saw such happy plants on my arrival home.

Have a great day and evening. Happy walks with Poppy and hope the kitties survived while you were gone. Welcome home.

My family is going through it. Hubby stayed home and took care of Poppy
and the cats. All is well in OZ. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thank you for welcoming me back I just wanted to keep things running smoothly here

I think you know that everyone on this thread feels for you and stands right by your side. We all have issues and your thread has lifted us up when it was needed. The music has helped and in some ways an inspiration. I wish your mom only the best and pray for her good health. It isn’t easy to lose someone at such a young age. I am positive that his mom is saying “if only.” I am happy you were able to be in Colorado. You were needed. And, you are an inspiration to us all. May you continue to be in good health and to enjoy each day more and more.

      INDEPENDENCE DAY

Each year on July 4, the United States celebrates Independence Day. This federal holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

For nearly 250 years, the country has been celebrating a day in history that inspires us still today. On July 4th, communities host speeches and ceremonies across the nation. Across the country, people crowd cities for parades and festivals. Cities deck the streets in red, white, and blue bunting and flags.

Families and friends also gather for some of the most mouthwatering food โ€“ large picnics and barbecues, local fairs provide a taste of culture and momโ€™s home cooking, too. With so many converging on their hometowns, family and school reunions take place.

      Fireworks

Before the day is over, many communities hold spectacular fireworks displays re-enacting moments of victory. Patriotic music accompanies the performance while spectators view the show from blankets strewn along capital lawns or from boats floating in bays. In some parts of the country, people will shoot their own fireworks while children delight in the bright colors and sparklers. They roast marshmallows and make s’mores.

      NATIONAL CHOCOLATE WAFER DAY

If you love chocolate, National Chocolate Wafer Day on July 3 allows you to indulge in a delicately sweet cookie with a history. Have one for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Also called sugar wafers, these delicate snacks melt in your mouth. Made since the mid-1800s in the United States, makers called the cookies many names; wafer cookies, sugar wafers, sugar biscuits, fairy wafers. While many enjoyed them as snacks, they also became favorite after-dinner treats or served during teas. Lightly flavored and layered with a creamy filling, the thin cookies delight folks of all ages.

Today, they remain an American favorite. With a waffle surface pattern and thin layers, these cookies make an excellent addition to ice cream. Use them as an ingredient in cakes and cheesecakes. While you’re baking, use them to decorate, too. If you prefer pie, crushed wafers make a delicious chocolate crust. There are so many ways chocolate wafers can be enjoyed. If you’ve never tried them, this holiday is the time to give them a whirl.

No matter where or how you are eating your wafers, these tasty treats are positively worth celebrating!

Hello Sheba and Happy 4th of July. How are you doing Sheba?
It’s another really hot day here. Everything dry up fast.

Received some real bad news from Brazil a few days back. My grand niece suffered a cerebral venous thrombosis. She is going through some rough time. Was in the hospital for a week, had several tests. And will need to see some specialists.

The bunnies were back this afternoon, both mama and baby. Give them some lettuce and strawberries. Later I looked out and the mama bunny and her hubby were making out in my backyard ๐Ÿ˜† I guess more baby bunnies will be coming around.

Take care of yourself Sheba โค๏ธ

Quick note. On my way to USPS and then to the Farmer’s Market to pick up something for dinner. They now have a complete Thai dinner and it’s awesome. I wanted you to know that hubby is going to have chest x-rays and I also requested an MRI on the esophagus and chest just to be sure nothing else is going on. Best of all, for the first time in over a year he was able to sit at the edge of the bed and dangle both feet without pain. He was also able to get up on his own from a prone position. So exciting to watch his facial expression as he did so. Will write more when I can.

Happy 4th to you I have two cousins born on the same day and same year to different aunts. So cool. Stay safe on this holiday.

      NATIONAL HOT DOG MONTH

Hot Diggity Dog! July is National Hot Dog Month. So, grab your dog and toppings and add your own flair on this American classic!

Now that the weather has warmed up and gotten nice outside, grilling season is upon us. It’s time to fire up those grills and buy some juicy hamburgers, sausages, and of course, hot dogs!

The exact origins of hot dogs are unknown, but likely their predecessor was brought over by immigrants. What we do know, however, is how they are made, and what goes into them. Hot dogs are usually pork or beef, but they can be made from poultry as well. The meat is put into a machine to be finely ground until it resembles a paste or batter (donโ€™t look it up, trust us). Spices added to enhance the flavor of a hot dog. Some brands add sugar or corn syrup for sweetness. Preservatives are also added to extend the shelf life of the product.

      NATIONAL WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER DAY

July 2 honors the dedicated personnel who coordinate their efforts to protect the nation’s wildlands. It’s also a day to remember the sacrifice made each time a firefighter steps into a wildland fire.

Every year, wildfires burn millions of acres across the United States. Federal, state, local, military, contract, international firefighters and support staff respond to many different emergency events. These amazing individuals are the backbone of the wildland fire community. The men and women who work to save lives, property, infrastructure and precious natural and cultural resources every year, deserve incredible gratitude for their professional skills and efforts.

Wildland firefighters are highly trained emergency responders. They are an essential part of a coordinated effort across agencies to respond to wildland fires and other natural emergencies. They comprise crews on the ground, air support, smokejumpers, and incident management teams.

Thanks for helping. However, I was referring to Joy’s Clean Boss Cleaner for fruits and vegetables. The ingredients that it does not have includes soy, nuts, etc. However, I do need to know what natural products they did use. I have a sulfite allergy which means that I need to read labels on everything. This includes bedding, soap, shampoo, conditioner, fabric softeners, clothing, food, etc.. I thought it was just an allergy to certain foods. As time went on the list has become pages of don’ts rather than go ahead and enjoy. The allergy is not a killer, but makes y our life miserable for up to 75 hours. Even visiting a dentist can pose a problem. Therefore, prior to the appointment I take the sinus meds to counter any problems.

I am sorry for your loss, Sheba. It’s sad to have a young person lose their life.

Sending prayers to you and your family. I am praying for better days ahead.

Hubby seemed to be better yesterday. Today he was coughing up a storm. I have no idea why. The A/C was off when I arrived and was still off when I left. A call will be made tomorrow morning for the physician. The nurse on duty did try to reach him, but there was no answer. I have a feeling that he took this week off because of the 4th of July. You would think there would be a backup. Well, the head nurse has been notified. I will keep you posted.

Here’s to a great evening. Stay safe. Not as humid tonight, however it is cloudy so the moon and stars are well hidden.

I cannot believe that HSN omitted the ingredients for Joy’s new cleaning for fruits and veggies. It’s all natural ingredients, but for people who have allergy issues, not a good thing. I even checked Amazon. Either Joy bought out the father and daughter team that started this product, or she is helping them along the way. Ingredients are not listed on Amazon either. I will wait for the price to go down on this item along with the shipping costs and the reviews prior to purchasing. Over 34,000 were sold.

    Mad World
    Song by Adam Lambert

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out spaces, worn out places
Bright and early for the daily races
    Goin’ nowhere, goin’ nowhere
And their tears are fillin’ up their glasses
    No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
    No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dyin’ are the best I ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very, very
    Mad world, mad world
Children waitin’ for the day they feel good
    Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher, tell me what’s my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dyin’ are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very, very
    Mad world, mad world
    Mad world, mad world

      SOCIAL MEDIA DAY

Social Media Day is observed annually on June 30. In its short life, social media has redefined how people interact, communicate, and share with family, friends, and the world.

With the launch of Friendster in 2002 and MySpace in 2003, social media became mainstream. Then 2004 brought the founding of the king of social media, Facebook. Twitter encouraged us to be succinct by posting our thoughts with fewer than 140 characters. When we express ourselves better through imagery, Instagram, and Flickr offer all the sharing we can handle. And speaking of video, YouTube is the social place for everything from how-to to pop culture to what not to do with your fireworks on the 4th of July.

โ€œWhen you have a great outfit on, your day is that much better, and in my opinion, you should honor that feeling with an OOTD! So, if youโ€™re feeling your look, post that OOTD and celebrate what makes you feel good about yourself.โ€ ~Stassi Schroeder

Choosing the right outfit can be a tough task for anyone. We all want to look our best for every occasion. National OOTD Day gives us the opportunity to strut our stuff a little extra. Our style is our own. Take today to do a little extra for yourself by picking your favorite style. We all know looking good makes us feel good.

So sorry for you and your family’s loss. To lose someone who is really just starting out in life makes things hard to bear. I wish only the best for you and your family. I’m hoping that the following is a way for a good hug: ( )..

Before I forget, HD is on this week. I think it’s Tuesday.

Yesterday, I actually wanted to purchase the TS and did so. After visiting hubby I cancelled the order because there were no ingredients listed. I notified CS even though someone else had asked the question. Not having it listed could cause problems not only for myself, but others as well. Allergies, as you know, is nothing to smear.

Hubby is coughing up a storm. I actually think it is an allergic reaction to the A?C.. He is also having problems with hives and itches. The cream helps somewhat. The Benedryl, not so much. I will start bringing the clothes home to wash and see if that helps. Meanwhile I have a few new items to bring with me today. I will also take Clean Boss with me and the handheld vacuum. I am hoping he will be in the wheelchair so I can remove everything with the help from the aid.

Headache is now gone. We received some much needed rain and more is expected as the day goes on. I think most of us are really watching the tropics. It’s just the beginning, but it looks like it will be a bad summer.

      Oodiebom,
Good evening. I wanted to thank you for the nice post a few days ago. Iโ€™m really bad about writing as I guess Iโ€™m more old school and like talking but thatโ€™s not an option here.
Iโ€™ve been staying in touch with my Ruidoso community friends. Some say they will rebuild but some not. Itโ€™s so sad to think our little community will forever be changed.
I love the wild horses and elk and pray they were able to find a safe place. You made me think of a good memory of one evening we were sitting on the deck and all of a sudden there was this horse parade coming down the street from the forest!!! They were walking single file and not stopping to nibble any grass. It was such an incredible sight. Lots of great wildlife memories.
I hope your allergies get better soon. We are staying inside as much as possible due to the Sahara dust which really makes us miserable.
Take care and I pray you will be able to bring your Hubby home soon.

I hope the animals survived the fire and flooding. Hopefully, you will see the wild horses running through the woods again. I hear from my neighbors on the deer that are looking everywhere for me. Our laundry room is downstairs and I would have a basket of fruit with me and would open the window. One was curious and came to the window to see what was going on. At the time I had a slice of bread and without thinking I put the screen up and he took or she took it without hesitation. From that day on I either had fruit or other food for them. From one deer there are now six or eight prancing around the front and back of our home. Enough said. Great to hear from you. Really missed you. Glad you are back. Take care. Stay safe.

      NATIONAL CAMERA DAY

Everything comes into focus on June 29 when we recognize National Camera Day. The day commemorates photographs, the camera, and their invention. Follow along as we take a snapshot of some interesting camera facts and learn a few things, too.

A camera is an irreplaceable tool used to record and replicate memories, events, and people/places. Before the invention of the camera, the only resource to document a vision was a painting. Capturing an image of a person or place in a drawing took time and skill. Very few people can perfectly draw the likeness of someone, let alone capture the essence of an event.

The power of a camera provided many with a simple, inexpensive, and fast solution. George Eastman, also known as “The Father of Photography,” brought the camera to the masses. While he did not invent the camera, he did develop many additions improving the use, ease, and production of the camera. His developments made the camera widely available to homes around the world.
