I created and started this thread nearly 14 years ago. 😎🎈
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish a safe Summer to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎I have been shopping and posting on HSN since the late
90’s 😎I have wonderful memories from the HSN we all know and love.

NATIONAL AUNT AND UNCLE’S DAY
National Aunt and Uncle’s Day on July 26 honors a special set of relatives we look up to throughout our lives. During holidays, family events, and sometimes sleepovers, aunts and uncles often hold an extraordinary place in our hearts. They fill our lives with fun, laughter, love, and incredible memories.
-

NATIONAL PARENTS’ DAY
National Parents’ Day honors all parents on the fourth Sunday in July. No matter where our parents may be, this day serves to celebrate their important role in our lives.
In May we celebrated mothers, and in June we celebrated fathers. It follows that in July we can bring all our parents together and show them some appreciation all at once.
-

NATIONAL ALL OR NOTHING DAY
Celebrated each year on July 26, National All or Nothing Day allows people to throw caution to the wind and go for broke. We all have dreams we hold back, decisions left to make, or plans uncompleted. On this day, people break free of everything holding them back.
-

NATIONAL BAGELFEST DAY
National Bagelfest Day on July 26 recognizes the kosher carbohydrate that is crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Join us as we explore the delicious facts behind the bagel and add our own schmeer to the topic.
Polish-Jewish immigrants introduced the bagel to the United States some time during the 19th century. Throughout New York City and the surrounding boroughs, they grew thriving bagel businesses. Of course, it didn’t take long for the bagel bakers to form an organization for bagel bakers in the city. The International Beigel Bakers’ Union was created in 1907. For decades, Bagel Bakers Local 338 held contracts with nearly all bagel bakeries in and around the city for its workers.
-

NATIONAL COFFEE MILKSHAKE DAY
Add National Coffee Milkshake Day on July 26 and coffee lovers to those who participate in National Ice Cream Month. Today, we are whipping up a caffeinated way to cooly celebrate one of the hottest times of the year.
While a milkshake sounds refreshing at the end of July, a coffee milkshake sounds even better. The combination of creamy ice cream blended with coffee perks up even the most extended workday. Add chocolate, and this treat becomes a mocha, too!
-

NATIONAL DISABILITY INDEPENDENCE DAY
National Disability Independence Day on July 26 commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26th, 1990. The day not only celebrates the anniversary of the ADA but it also serves as a way to bring awareness and brake down barriers individuals with disabilities faced every day.
The ADA provides protection from employment discrimination as well as better access to goods, services, and communications for people with disabilities. Today’s National Day marks a timeline of change that has developed overtime. In fact, each change improves mobility and safety for people with disabilities.

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈Looks like you had a busy day yesterday.
Oz is triple digits and I need to do this and that real quick. 😎
Oodie take it easy if you don’t feel well keep meds on stand by.
I need to run real quick for wet cat food. 💕😎It’s so hot in Oz I am putting Ice in
the water bowl for the animals.I will check back in later. 🎈
-
It is 85 degrees, but with the humidity and dewpoint, it is over 100. I was up early this morning and thought I would be able to do a wash. No such luck. The sky darkened and we had a thunder storm that lasted over an hour. We had rain up until noon or so. More expected. July brought us some much needed droplets. I think I read somewhere that we have had over 7 1/2 inches. We still have a long way to go to end the drought situation. At least we are heading in the right direction.
I wish your niece well. She must be very nervous and the family is also. I hope this cancer was caught in time and the road to recovery will be an easy one to follow. I will be sending prayers her way. May she have a good outcome.
The animals don’t like this heat either. Good idea with ice cubes in the water, though you should check that the water is cool every so often. I would keep a fan going on your porch even when they are not around. The cool breeze will make them happy. I assume Poppy has found the coolest place in his home. Take care. Stay safe. Don’t stay outside for any lenght of time.
-
Good Evening thank you for your thoughts on my niece. My niece is not nervous like all
women about to have the unkindest cut she is concerned as she should be. This is a long
lonely journey and she will get through it just like her mother my sister. 😎💕My sister had a double Mastectomy and all the complications that goes with it.
This is not a family gene this is coming from somewhere. My surgery was a walk in
the park compared to my niece and her mother. 😎They did catch it early it’s the location
of the cancer. Niece has a Master’s in Ed. and have traveled the world and is still young she
still have a lot of living to do maybe even more so.All four of our children her cousins will be at her bedside and waiting room she will spend
the night just to be sure and then the real work begins. Niece is having a implant she is not
vain it’s just so something is there. My procedure turned out great i still wear my same bras.
I can still do a push up. This is all about getting your mammogram on time every year and she
did that is how it was discovered.I had something funny happen tonight one of the cats I feed and play with owner came
very desperate looking for Charlie her cat and she pulled out her Iphone and showed me
a picture of her missing cat I said that is Charlie he comes here everyday and I feed him.
Charlie likes to stay under my huge Flower Planter. 😎💕Suddenly Charlie appeared from
my back Patio and she was so happy. The lady told me someone told her about me. I said
well you came to the right place. I take care of four cats and I keep good food and fresh
water out for them and I look out for them. The lady was in tears as she take her cat and come
to find out we have been neighbors for a very long time I can see her house from my indoor
Patio that is why her cat comes over everyday just like the other Charlie. I mentioned our
neighbors by name and we know them all. I could see the relief wash over her. 💕
Oz is triple digits as I type this post. I am going to take a nice Korres Shower and tomorrow
is another day. 💕Sleep well tonight my family said Colorado is in a deep drought so they are praying
for rain. 💕😎🎈 -
-
Good day in the ‘burgh. 😎🎈Hot in OZ we are in the triple digits right now as I type
this post we are not even past Noon yet. Sigh!
I worry about the animals and I keep a close eye on them during this heat wave.
Hey keep it cool there you are very lucky if you are not in the triple digits.
Sending cool waves to you and Jake. 😎🎈💕
-
Oh Sheba, not again. The “C” seems to zero in on your family.☹️ Let’s just stamp this out forever. I hope I didn’t offend you by asking. She has been added to my prayer list.🙏
Waiting for the storms to pass through. I hope your temps came down a little. Ours will be up and down all week. Is it Fall yet?🍂
Ton of hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
-
Good Evening I have a lot going on in my life I just make it look easy. That’s what I do.
I did the Vibes of Summer out of my mind within 15 minutes. I am making those images
by my mood. 😎🎈No you did not bother me with the C word i just wanted you to know why i asked the prayers.
My niece is only in her early 30’s and they found the beast last month tomorrow she will lose
a part of her my sister lost and is still battling the aftermath. No worries she will have an
implant I am still in shock it came to this that is why I am on the low side. My faith will get
me through. See why I do this thread the way I do it? No one knows what is really going
on in people’s lives. i don’t live in a bubble i am alive and I have a good life. 😎🎈
All our children will be at her bedside and waiting room tomorrow when she has the surgery.
The kids will never return to OZ when the time is right some day I will be around our children.😎Enjoy something cool we have been in triple digits all day and I am going to jump in the
shower and just let the water pour and have a good cry. 😎Sweet Dreams my friend.

Peace Out Peeps have a cool and safe evening. 😎🎈

Happy weekend! Sis, relax. It’s your time to slow down and focus on yourself. The laundry will still be there. The emails aren’t going to file a missing person report. The world will somehow survive if you spend a little time taking care of the woman who has been holding everything together. YOU!
You don’t have to earn a quiet moment by running yourself into the ground first. Rest isn’t a reward for being exhausted. It’s part of staying strong enough to keep building the life you actually want. Give yourself permission to disappear for a little while this weekend. Your peace has been waiting patiently.😎🎈💕

Dancing Amidst the Petal Storm Life is a dance amidst the storm,…. It is not about waiting for the calm, but about how you transform the vortex of sorrow into the most beautiful symphony of petals.
-

Symphony of the Red and White Dance All the world's a stage, and life a rhythmic dance within this swirl of pomegranate and ivory, where every stride is but a pulse-beat in the vast breath of time.

Open Your Heart
Song by Madonna… I see you on the street and you walk on by
You make me wanna hang my head down and cry
If you gave me half a chance you’d see
My desire burning inside of me
But you choose to look the other way
… I’ve had to work much harder than this
For something I want, don’t try to resist me
… Open your heart to me, baby
I hold the lock and you hold the key
Open your heart to me, darlin’
I’ll give you love if you, you turn the key
… I think that you’re afraid to look in my eyes (oh baby)
You look a little sad boy, I wonder why (um)
I follow you around, but you can’t see
You’re too wrapped up in yourself to notice
So you choose to look the other way
Well, I’ve got something to say
… Don’t try to run, I can keep up with you
Nothing can stop me from trying, you’ve got to
… Open your heart to me, baby
I hold the lock and you hold the key
Open your heart to me, darlin’
I’ll give you love if you, you turn the key
… Open your heart with the key
One is such a lonely number
… Ah, ah, ah, ah
Open your heart, I’ll make you love me
It’s not that hard, if you just turn the key
… Don’t try to run, I can keep up with you
Nothing can stop me from trying, you’ve got to
… Open your heart to me, baby
I hold the lock and you hold the key
Open your heart to me, darlin’
I’ll give you love if you, you turn the key
… Open your heart with the key
… Open your heart, I’ll make you love me (I’m gonna get to you)
It’s not that hard, if you just turn the key (mm, come on, baby) -

Cruel Summer
Song by BananaramaHot summer streets and the pavements are burning
I sit around
Trying to smile but the air is so heavy and dry
Strange voices are sayin’ (what did they say?)
Things I can’t understand
It’s too close for comfort, this heat has got right out of hand
It’s a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
Leavin’ me here on my own
It’s a cruel, (it’s a cruel) cruel summer
Now you’re gone
The city is crowded, my friends are away
And I’m on my own
It’s too hot to handle, so I got to get up and go
It’s a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
Leavin’ me here on my own
It’s a cruel, (it’s a cruel) cruel summer
Now you’re gone
Gonna feel only it was
It’s a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
(Leavin’ me) leavin’ me here on my own
It’s a cruel, (it’s a cruel) cruel summer
Now you’re gone
It’s a cruel, cruel summer
Leaving me here on my own
It’s a cruel, cruel summer
Now you’re gone
You’re not the only one
It’s a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
(Leavin’ me) leavin’ me here on my own
It’s a cruel, (it’s a cruel) cruel summer
Now you’re gone
You’re not the only one
It’s a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
(Leavin’ me) leavin’ me here on my own
It’s a cruel, (it’s a cruel) cruel summer
Now you’re gone
You’re not the only one -

NATIONAL HOT FUDGE SUNDAE DAY
On July 25, National Hot Fudge Sundae Day takes a turn representing National Ice Cream Month in delicious style. Feast on this tasty ice cream dessert that combines hot and cold with a cherry on top. Even more important to note, this dessert has been served since 1906.
While the oldest known record of an ice cream sundae is an Ithaca, NY advertisement, the originator of the dessert is debated. An October 5, 1892 advertisement in the Ithaca Daily Journal spelled the ice cream treat with the conventional day of the week spelling – Sunday. However, Two Rivers, Wisconsin, claims Druggist Edward Berners served the first ice cream sundae in 1881.
-

NATIONAL THREAD THE NEEDLE DAY

It is with profound sorrow that we remember Eva Schloss, Auschwitz camp survivor, educator, author, and one of the world’s most steadfast guardians of memory, who has passed away at the age of 96. Her passing marks the loss of one of the last voices able to bear personal witness to the horrors of Auschwitz, a woman who chose, despite unimaginable suffering, to spend the rest of her life teaching compassion instead of hatred, remembrance instead of silence, and hope instead of despair.🕊️
The Anne Frank Trust UK, the organization she helped establish and later served as Honorary President, announced her passing. Her family described her as “a remarkable woman: an Auschwitz survivor, a devoted Holocaust educator, tireless in her work for remembrance, understanding and peace.”Those who had the privilege of hearing Eva speak know those words were not simply a tribute, they were the story of her life.
Born Eva Geiringer in Vienna in 1929, she was only a child when Nazi persecution forced her Jewish family to flee Austria for the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, they became neighbors of Otto Frank and his family. Eva and Anne Frank, born just weeks apart, shared the ordinary moments of childhood before war robbed them of innocence and forever altered their lives.
As the Nazi occupation tightened its grip, Eva’s family went into hiding. Their hope of survival ended in May 1944 when they were betrayed and arrested, on Eva’s fifteenth birthday. She and her family were deported to Auschwitz, where she endured starvation, brutality, disease, and the daily uncertainty of whether she would live to see another sunrise.
When Auschwitz was liberated in January 1945, Eva and her mother were among the thousands of prisoners left behind by the retreating SS. Her father, Erich, and her beloved brother, Heinz, had been forced onto the infamous Death Marches. Though both survived the march itself, they died at Mauthausen only days before liberation, a heartbreaking loss that remained with Eva for the rest of her life.
Many people would have been consumed by bitterness after such unimaginable tragedy. Eva chose another path.
After settling in England in 1951, she built a family, raised three daughters, and gradually found the strength to speak publicly about what she had endured. Following her mother Fritzi’s marriage to Otto Frank, Eva became Anne Frank’s stepsister by marriage and worked closely to preserve Anne’s legacy while sharing her own story with equal honesty and courage.
For decades, Eva traveled tirelessly to schools, universities, museums, and commemorative events, speaking directly to young people. She believed remembrance was not only about honoring those who were murdered, but about recognizing where hatred begins, and having the courage to confront it before it grows. Her testimony reached countless lives, reminding each new generation that prejudice, discrimination, and indifference can have devastating consequences when left unchallenged.
Through her books, including Eva’s Story, The Promise, and After Auschwitz, and through her work with the Anne Frank Trust UK, Eva transformed personal grief into a lifelong mission of education. She ensured that the millions who never returned from the Holocaust would not be reduced to statistics, but remembered as human beings whose lives mattered.
Eva Schloss did not ask to become a symbol of history. History chose her. What she chose, however, was to dedicate the rest of her life to telling the truth with remarkable dignity, unwavering honesty, and extraordinary courage.
Today, the world mourns not only the passing of a Holocaust survivor, but the loss of a woman who carried the memories of those who could no longer speak for themselves. Her voice has fallen silent, but the lessons she entrusted to humanity must never fade.
May Eva Schloss rest in eternal peace.
May we honor her not only by remembering her name, but by defending the values she spent a lifetime protecting: truth, justice, compassion, and the belief that every human life has equal worth.
Rest in Peace, Eva Schloss (1929–2026). Your story will continue to educate, your courage will continue to inspire, and your legacy will never be forgotten. -

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎💕I hope your weather is better than OZ.
We are blazing hot again so back to the dog days of summer.
I have a bit of this and a bit of that to do today. 😎
Please take it easy if your weather is super hot.
I know hubby will like a cool treat. 💕🎈
-
Our weather seems similar to yours. No rain until this evening. Lightning and thunder started just after 9pm and stopped an hour later. Yes, I felt the barometer heading downward, but the head ahe was not severe. No meds needed. First time in months that I felt good prior to the storm.
Tomorrow may be a different story. I’m all set just in case. Reloaded my medical kit when I am with hubs. If I have problems, hubs know where the pills are and can direct the RN if need be.I forgot to mention that hubs roommate was reassigned to another plave. No sure if he is still in the rehab in a different section. All I know is he is no longer in the same room with hubs. He caused a lot of headaches not only to me and hubs but to the RNs and the aides as well. He, for some reason, always used the call button. It got to the point where no one wanted to come into the room. The RN, though, would check to see if hubs was OK.. Hubs has been doing a “happy dance” in his wheelchair. If this roommate returns I will be making a huge you know what.
Tomorrow I will be getting ready for the usual garbage, recycle and yardwork pickup on Monday. We have one day pickup for everything. No more Mondays and Thursdays. I must admit that I miss the two days. At the moment there is nothing in any of the barrels. May wait to the following week.
Try to find ways to stay cool. I have never seen or felt weather like this. It includes Florida as well. Who ever heard of New Jersey having tornados. Hope and pray that the animals are OK.
-
Good day in S. California I hope all is well with your family. 🎈😎

Enjoy the trails when you can.

Good day in the ‘burgh. 😎🎈💕Hot as Hades in OZ.

I am drinking plenty of water so I am going to have a slow day. Feed the animals
and have ice cold water for them. 💕Wishing you a nice calm smooth Saturday. 💕😎
Sending cool rays to you and Jake. 💕🎈
-
Hi in Hades!🔥 Warmer here but not quite that hot. Windows are now closed and a/c back on. Doing a lot of nothing today because I feel sluggish. Had a hard time sleeping last night.
Making easy sandwiches for dinner.🥪 Definitely have a glass of something cold later.
Huge cool hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Good Evening from Hades. 😎 Yeah still blazing hot still making sure the animals are
well fed and have plenty of water. 💕Your post had me cracking up it really is that hot here in OZ. 😎
No worries cooler days are coming next week. I talked to family in Colorado and they
are on fire too add drought and you have to use very little water and there you have it.
Some States have it worse I feel for those who don’t A/C. Prayers that all make it through
brutal heat wave.
Enjoy something nice and cool. 💕😎I am going to jump in the shower for a nice
Perlier cold shower. 💕Lady I want to thank you for keeping your prayers for my family. 💕I meant to tell you that
a couple days ago. My SIL is doing very well and the family are having a great time this
summer. 😎I have my young niece who is due to serious surgery on Monday. I will explain all when things
are calmer in the family. This is cancer and it can be cruel. Here we go again.Keeping my faith I hope you can sleep tonight rest well and sweet dreams. 💕😎

NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY
On July 24th, commemorate National Tequila Day with a little lime and salt. Mix up a Margarita, Paloma, or a Mamasita to celebrate the day! People have been making Tequila for centuries, and it was once known as pulque (fermented agave juice).
In fact, Tequila is mezcal, but mezcal isn’t Tequila. That’s because Tequila is distilled from a specific type of agave plant. Also, the law protects its production. Take a sip, and we’ll travel into Tequila’s history.
-

NATIONAL AMELIA EARHART DAY
Each year on July 24, National Amelia Earhart Day honors the achievements of the aviation pioneer on the date of her birth.
Author and American aviation pioneer, Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24, 1897. One of Earhart’s most impressive achievements took place on May 20th, 1932. Earhart took off from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and flew solo across the Atlantic ocean.
Throughout the flight, she faced many technical difficulties. Her goal was to land in Paris, France. Due to Earhart’s challenges in flight, she landed the red Lockheed Vega 14 hours and 56 minutes later in Northern Ireland. All in all, the flight was a success. She became the first woman pilot to complete the journey. Following Earhart’s record-setting accomplishment, she earned the United States Distinguished Flying Cross.
In 1937, Earhart attempted to circumnavigate the globe. Unfortunately, her Purdue-funded Lockheed Model 10 Electra disappeared over the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island in July.
Today, her successes continue to draw women around the globe to the world of aviation. Fascination with her life, career, and disappearance continues to this day. Whether or not the mystery will ever be solved remains to be seen.
-

NATIONAL COUSINS DAY
National Cousins Day on July 24 recognizes the unique, lifelong relationships that grow among cousins. Our very first friendships often form with cousins as young as infants and can endure a lifetime. The day celebrates cousins of every age—from brand-new baby cousins to cousins whose own babies are all grown up!
Whether cousins grow up together in close-knit families or only see each other occasionally, they share special memories rooted in common grandparents, aunts, and uncles. At family gatherings, cousins keep each other entertained—and occasionally get into mischief together, too! They celebrate birthdays, share inside jokes, and might even blow out each other’s candles (much to the birthday kid’s annoyance).
When siblings irritate us, cousins instantly become allies. For only children, cousins often feel like the brothers and sisters they never had. As cousins grow up, watching their own children play together brings back fond childhood memories, starting the beautiful cycle all over again.
-

NATIONAL THERMAL ENGINEER DAY
National Thermal Engineer Day on July 24th recognizes the crucial contributions of thermal engineers—the minds behind keeping our modern tech cool, safe, and efficient. Chosen because July 24th is typically one of the hottest days of the year, it’s the perfect time to tip our hats to the professionals who manage heat so our tech doesn’t break a sweat.
-

NATIONAL DRIVE-THRU DAY
National Drive-Thru Day on July 24 recognizes an innovation conveniently going strong today. The drive-thru reached its iconic zenith in the 1950s but stayed strong through the ’60s, ’70s and beyond. People have enjoyed this service since the 1930s.

n Good Evening. Our storm last Sunday was a tropical depression without a name. The torrential rain was ominous. it was tropical. Something I had never seen and that includes the hurricanes we have had in the past.
I did see hubs today. As I walked into the rehab I was greeted with and I quote: He’s in the dining room.” I burst out laughing and so did everyone else. I arrived just shortly before 5 pm. Dinner was served around 6:15 pm. Hubs was seated by himself at a table for 4. The others may have left to wait for dinner in their rooms. I had brought dinner with me, but was given a meal with hubs/ Actually, we both had the same thing. Salad with spaghetti and cheese. I actually brought a cooked breast of chicken with tomatores. Guess I will have that for breakfast tomorrow. As hubs waited for dinner, the sky began to darken. It didn’t take long for the sky to let loose with another torrential, tropical rain storm that lasted at least 45 minutes. The wind was fierce. The storm was heading from East to West. Another storm hit on my way home, but nothing like the one we had earlier. There was lightning and thunder with the first storm. Lights did flicker,l but the only thing that went out was the WiFi. It was up and running within seconds.
Tomorrow, the Farmr’s Market has free ice cream. Since they are celebrating Christmas in July, it’s one huge scoop of peppermint ice cream. The Rehab is at least a half hour from the market. Have no idea how I can get it to hubs before it melts even with a freezer bag and ice paks.

Yes, I am enjoying this last nice day. I’m starting to really dislike summer with all these weather changes over the last couple of years.😖 Your rain may be here by Sunday.
Haven’t mentioned in a while but I hope all is going well for your sister and SIL. I still remember them in prayers.🙏
Sending summertime hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Amy Winehouse Lyrics
“Valerie”Well sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing
And in my head I paint a picture‘Cause since I’ve come on home
Well my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won’t you come on over
Stop making a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over, Valerie?Valerie
Valerie
ValerieDid you have to go to jail
Put your house on up for sale, did you get a good lawyer?
I hope you didn’t catch a tan
I hope you’ll find the right man who’ll fix it for ya
Are you shopping anywhere
Changed the color of your hair, are you busy?
And did you have to pay that fine
That you were dodging all the time, are you still dizzy?Since I’ve come on home
Well my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won’t you come on over?
Stop making a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over, Valerie?Valerie
Valerie
ValerieWell sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing
And in my head I paint a pictureSince I’ve come on home
Well my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won’t you come on over?
Stop making a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over, Valerie?Valerie

GORGEOUS GRANDMA DAY
July 23rd is Gorgeous Grandma Day and we are recognizing all the women who embrace the age of a grandma, whether they are grandmothers or not! Gorgeous Grandma Day embraces and encourages all women to flaunt their granny attitudes with purpose and style.
Not all women become grandmothers. Those who do, don’t necessarily fit the traditional mold any longer. Others still reach a point where many assume grandmother status, even though no grandchildren are around. While some grandmas fit the traditional mold with gray hair and cookie-baking, home-making, hug-giving, child-spoiling energy to spare, many grannies sport a whole new role. Many take on the part of grandma to the children in their lives.
No matter the type of grandmother they are, they’re all different. Some play the hippest games, wear the latest styles, and know how to find the best deals on technology. Even the grandkids can’t keep up! Funny, sassy, and energetic grandmas, rebel grannies and smart grannies make the grade, too.

NATIONAL VANILLA ICE CREAM DAY
Vanilla Ice Cream Day on July 23 tips its hat to America’s overall favorite flavor. Take a bow, vanilla! I scream, you scream, we all scream for vanilla ice cream! Celebrated during National Ice Cream Month, this special day comes right on the heels of National Ice Cream Day.

NATIONAL REFRESHMENT DAY
When the summer sun hits its peak and the dog days of July roll in, nothing hits the spot quite like a tall, ice-cold drink. National Refreshment Day on the fourth Thursday in July toasts those pure moments of relief–whether it’s an icy craft brew after a long work week, a chilled mocktail on the porch, or a crisp glass of lemonade at the beach.
Whether you’re at the beach or wrapping up a long day of work, it’s nice to know there’s a glass waiting for you somewhere. The dog days of summer call for coolers full of ice. Long weekends and vacation days beckon, too. Take a day and celebrate.

NATIONAL LEMON DAY
On July 23, National Lemon Day squeezes its way into our day just in time to celebrate our summertime festivities. This tart fruit brings vibrant, citrus notes to salads, drinks, and even savory dishes. Join us as we learn why so many people love the taste of lemon during the summertime and learn some lemony history, too.
Lemons are believed to be native to South Asia, although some say they may have originated in Northeast India. Citron, which is similar to a lemon, was the first of the citrus family. In fact, Citron is found in a Persian garden near Jerusalem said to be at least 2,500 years old. Some time between the late 1st century BC and early 1st century AD, Citron made its way to Rome. Interestingly, lemons were never used in food or drink by the Romans during this early time period. It seems Romans instead used this citrus tree for decoration and the pleasant odor.
