Conversation 27
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 27 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.😎🎈
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

Disturbia
Song by RihannaBum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
What’s wrong with me?
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Why do I feel like this?
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
I’m going crazy now
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
No more gas in the rig
(Can’t even get it started)
Nothing heard, nothing said
(Can’t even speak about it)
All my life on my head
(Don’t want to think about it)
Feels like I’m going insane, yeah
It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind, it can control you
It’s too close for comfort
Throw on your pretty lies
We’re in the city of wonder
Ain’t goin’ play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise
Your mind’s in disturbia
It’s like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight
(Your mind’s in) Disturbia
Ain’t used to what you like
Disturbia
Disturbia
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Faded pictures on the wall
(It’s like they talkin’ to me)
Disconnectin’ all your call
(Your phone don’t even ring)
I gotta get out
Or figure this out
It’s too close for comfort, ooh
It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind, it can control you
I feel like a monster
Throw on your pretty lies
We’re in the city of wonder
Ain’t goin’ play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise
Your mind’s in disturbia
It’s like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight
Disturbia
Ain’t used to what you like
Disturbia
Disturbia
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Disturbia
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Release me from this curse I’m in
Trying to maintain but I’m struggling
You can’t go, ho, ho, ho, ho-ho
I think I’m gonna oh, oh, oh
Throw on your pretty lies
We’re in the city of wonder
Ain’t goin’ play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise
Your mind’s in disturbia
It’s like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight
(Your mind’s in) Disturbia

NATIONAL BOSS’S DAY
On October 16, National Boss’s Day, also known as National Boss Day or Bosses Day, recognizes the hardworking boss overseeing the workplace. Employees across the United States show appreciation and thankfulness to their bosses. They remember their boss’s kindness and fairness throughout the year, too. (If the 16th of October falls on a weekend, then this day is celebrated on the closest working day.)
-

-

BRA DAY USA
BRA (Breast Reconstruction Awareness) Day USA is observed on the third Wednesday in October.
Each breast cancer campaign brings a special focus on an area of concern. However, few shine a light on options after mastectomy or lumpectomy like BRA Day USA. While reconstruction may not be for every woman, they should have access to the available options so they can make informed decisions.
Deciding whether to reconstruct breasts after a mastectomy is a personal decision. For some, the decision is a difficult one. It is important that patients are provided with all the information and tools to make the best decision for them. Remember, they’ve lived with their body, their breasts all their life. For many women, they’ve shaped the clothes they’ve worn, fed their children, and been a part of their more intimate life.
Women who chose to not have reconstruction performed also have choices. Prosthetic design and technology continually advance. Each woman should be provided with all their options. Her network should support her in every way through the journey and reassure her that whatever decision she makes is the right one for her.

DEPARTMENT STORE DAY
On October 16 Department Store Day urges us to consider how department store innovations have impacted shopping in our daily lives.
In existence since the early 19th century, department stores provided safe, clean environments for the new middle class to shop. They often offered many firsts, combining services with revolutionary style and convenience. Many department stores had lunch counters where shoppers could take a break for a drink, snack or lunch.
Through an era when merchandising and sales could be described as an art form, the brick and mortar stores were often magnificent pieces of architecture. With large clocks, brass, and statuary, the customer’s satisfaction was key. Some departments fill entire floors, making grand escalators, elevators, and plush seating a must.
While department stores are on the decline, many shoppers still enjoy browsing through the latest styles, testing out the newest electronics, and having someone assist them with the details of a purchase. Many shoppers couple the advantages of comparison shopping online catalogs, then visit their department store for the real-feel decision.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie may this day find you doing well. 😎🎈😘
I know you have a lot going on and I pray things work out for you and hubby.Oz is alright after a night of hard freeze. My plants and flowers had to be covered they
are all doing great and loving the sun. 💕🎈Oodie is your water main back on? Try not to overdo anything one step at a time.
I hope you enjoy a nice visit with your husband. 💕I have some sneezes but other than that
things are alright.Enjoy some warm tea with Manuka Honey this is what I am having today to take the
chill off. Please let me know how you are doing. -
It was cold here also. Temps were in the low 70s and our nighttime high tonight will be the mid 50s. I am enjoying the cooler temps and the low humidity. It will be back next week with temps in the 90s again.
Didn’t do any work today. Instead went to the Farmer’s Market and bought some fruit for hubby and Dragon fruit for me. Since I am now about to thoroughly clean the frig, I picked up some fruit and take home salads. I brought squash soup with roasted apples for myself and hubby. Considering it took over an hour to drive 10 miles to rehab, the soup was still piping hot. I also picked up a Greek salad for tomorrow.
I am hoping to leave here early afternoon tomorrow to meet with the Social Worker and the new Unit Mgr. I do not have an appointment, but if necessary, will make one ASAP.. The Rehab was freezing and as I sit at the keyboard, I still feel the cold. I assume the cold temps is to keep all the viruses at bay. I may have some hot tea before heading to bed.
Many are still without power. Going to the Farmer’s Market, seeing the devastation is unbelievable. School is still out and they are not sure about Monday. Looks like the make up at the end of the school year may go into July. My ears and eyes are watching the tropics. Many models state that the one in the Caribbean will not hit Florida and that it may weaken. Hmm…..If I remember correctly that is what they said about Milton and two days later it was a hurricane. At least the roofs are basically done. The guys will return to replace the screens on the lanai.
Have a great evening. Try to stay warm. I wonder if winter is coming early this year. Brrr……

Good day in the ‘burgh. Lady how are you on this crisp fall Wednesday?
My Gardens survived the cold last night I covered them real good. 💕😎Hubby and I turned the heat on just bit and then we turned it off. We will have plenty
of time to use the heat when winter comes and stays. LOL!Very sunny in OZ and I am loving it. Poppy and I had a good walk so refreshing.
I like to keep my legs and body firm so I do move around and workout to maintain
what I have. 😎How is your mother and sister? I hope they are enjoying Fall. 🎈
Wishing you a nice warm fall day sending warm vibes to you and Jake. 💕😘🎈
Lady how are your nieces doing with their Golf Games? -
What a cutie!!! Wish I had him to help with the leaves.🍁🍂 Chilly with a little breeze. I’m like you, furnace on, furnace off. One day it’s 50, the next day it’s 70. I’m just glad it’s working fine since I haven’t had it on since it was installed end of May.🤞
Mom and sis are fine. Sis is driving to Virginia middle of next week for a doll convention. So I’ll be doing double duty for five days.
My niece and her school team were supposed to play sometime this week in the state championship.🏌️♀️ Not sure what dates and haven’t heard from my nephew. Even if they lose, she has been doing really, really well.👍
Sending Fall hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

NATIONAL CHEESE CURD DAY
On October 15, National Cheese Curd Day celebrates the velvety goodness of cheese curds.
-
NATIONAL SHAWARMA DAY
National Shawarma Day on October 15th celebrates the Middle Eastern rotisserie method of cooking meats such as lamb, chicken, and beef and the dishes it makes. Not only does shawarma bring mouth-watering flavour, but it also can be enjoyed in a variety of ways.
Bursting with a marinade of Mediterranean herbs and spices, shawarma chicken slowly cooks on a vertical rotisserie spit. The tender meat is then thinly sliced, grilled and added to a pita wrap with a variety of toppings. Customize this flavourful dish with fresh vegetables, cheese and a variety of herbs. Special sauces enhance the enjoyment of this delectable dish as well, such as the customer favourite Osmow’s™ garlic sauce. No matter how you like your shawarma, the combinations are endless.
Not in the mood for a wrap? Shawarma also tastes great on a salad, rice or fries. Anything exploding with this much flavour deserves a celebration!
-
NATIONAL GROUCH DAY
National Grouch Day on October 15 sends out notices to all the grouches of the world to be their truest grouch. If you are a grouch, today is your special day. According to Sesame Street Magazine, the day celebrates all grouches and their way of life.
Sometimes grumps give backhanded compliments. “Your house looked horrible until you painted it.” Other times they don’t give them at all. Noise, silence, general activity makes a grouch generally unpleasant.
As per the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a grouch is described as:
a person who complains frequently or constantly
a habitually irritable or complaining person
It seems that a grouch may be happy (although they would never admit it) only when others are unhappy and grouchy. It is then that they feel most comfortable with having others share in their grumpy, cantankerous, surly world with them.National Grouch Day would be a good time to send a grouch e-card and then ask a friend, whether they be a grouch or not, to come on over, sit back, share some popcorn, relax and watch the movie Grumpy Old Men!

I see things are moving quickly and that is a good thing.Enjoy some hot tea with your Manuka Honey. 💕😘😎 Oodie when you have the time
and the Wifi let us know how you are doing today. Please take care and be careful. -
It is so easy to face each day when you have the right contractor. This is especially true when you receive an email stating he won’t be there today because he needs additional supplies which is getting more difficult to purchase. That’s Ok with me. I have a roof in our den and one in the lanai. The rest can come anytime. And, his workmanship cannot be beat. I wish I had this contractor two years ago when we had back to back hurricanes. And, it just dawned on me, they were at the same time period. However, hate to mention this, but there is another one in the Atlantic yet to be named, but all points are leading to one in the next few days. We are OK this week. The weekend and beyond may be questionable.
Weather today is sunny and no humidity. Nice cool 70+ degrees and I love it. The hurricane also did havoc to our window screens and in order to replace them, may need new windows.
Before you gasp and say what else, this is a good excuse to replace the ones here. Though they are double paned, I cannot open and close them nor do they tilt to make washing them a breeze. Now all I need do is take a measurement and order. And best news, favorite word: SALE11111 😀😀🧨 -
Good evening I like your attitude you have been knocked down so much it’s insane.
I like how you always bounce back. 💕🎈I just want you to know that. 💕Enjoy tonight with your husband dear friend let me know how you are doing. 😘😎

Good day in the ‘burgh. 😎🎈😘Well it happened very early morning hubby turned on
the heat to take the chill out of the house. I did a count down of how quick I was going
to turn it off. LOL! All good OZ is in the 50’s now and we will reach the 70’s later today.I did wear a Iris Apfel Jacket this morning with my walk with Poppy I was snug as a bug in
a rug. 😎Poppy has a little jacket I put on him. 💕I will be warming up some stew as I have the sniffles from the weather. I still love Fall.
I am wishing you a wonderful day. 😎🎈
Sending warm vibes to you and Jake. 😎💕😘

Hi in Oz. Sounds like we have about the same weather although we won’t hit 70 until the end of the week. T and T looked so cute at the baseball game yesterday.🥰
Having a mix and match dinner today, throw this with that and that with this.😮 It will probably be delicious.
You and Mr. P stay warm and cozy to keep the big sniffles away.🤧 Hugs to you both!🤗💖

Good evening OZ is cold as I type we are in the upper 30’s and will reach the
20’s by tomorrow morning. I did turn on the heat. Hubby got home and removed
the water hose and I covered most of the plants and flowers if they can make it
until tomorrow afternoon I have it made.I made sure to feed three out door cats I gave them extras. Lady they all ate and ran
to their safe place. 💕Here is a little something that will help keep you warm my friend. 😎
Lady we have the fireplaces on in OZ hubby is getting very warm. 💕😘 -

NATIONAL DESSERT DAY
People around the country indulge every October 14 on National Dessert Day! Celebrated by way of the local bakery, grandma’s house or chocolate shop, desserts include candies, pies, ice cream, fruits, cookies, pastries, cobblers, and donuts, too.
The available ingredients affect the range of desserts made in each region. The very first desserts required minimal effort or preparation since ancient cultures were more focused on the nutrition in foods to survive. Over the years, desserts have changed from natural candies and nuts to complex soufflés and multi-layered cakes. In modern culture, there are many more options available in desserts.
Throughout the year, we see seasonal delights. As we near the holiday season, the flavors change. For some, the taste of gingerbread or fruitcake may come to mind. Others will pull out recipes handed down for generations. Pecan, pumpkin, and apple pies come to mind. Other rich desserts round out the dessert table, too. Flan, tarts, and everything with maple glaze.

NATIONAL KICK DAY
National Kick Day is observed annually on the second Monday in October. This is a day to give yourself a kick in the seat of the pants.
The day aims to motivate marketers, advertisers and those in the business world to work smarter and harder toward their goals. If not, check your goals. Do you have the right ones in place to kick ?

Call your parents once a month.
Start a savings account.

This Too Shall Pass. -
I had problems logging into HSN and that’s why no post for a couple of days.
The contractor for the roofs are doing a fantastic job. I am happy with this choice. There is no home untouched in our community. Everyone had some kind of damage in this storm and to think there may be another one on it’s way.
Spent a great deal of time with hubby these last few days. Poor guy, just like me, didn’t know how the other faired in this storm. It was more important to be together than to stay home and work. As it happened, yesterday, I met the weekend nurse supervisor and we had a nice chat. I mentioned about last week where I could not reach the rehab or the three sister rehabs in Orlando. All I wanted to do is to tell hubby I was OK and would see him on the return. Unfortunately, that never happened. I also brought up the eye glasses and have no idea what happened to them. I found out that I am well known there. Guess no one bothers to see their other half while they are somewhat incapacitated. Today I left just before 11 pm. Why, because I waited for the workers to leave and then made up for the lost time.
Our lights came on last night. As I returned home last night, I couldn’t help notice a light in our bedroom window. I no longer needed a battery operated lantern. What a good feeling. I guess it gave me a second wind and I was up until the wee hours of the morning. Awoke a couple of hours later to get the garbage out for today and to start cleaning out the refrigerator from almost a week’s worth of no electricity. Thank goodness we have another pickup on Thursday. I will be cleaning the frig and then will have fun shopping.
The Governor has given the green light for $10 worth of gas. You need to go to the various areas for that. I assume it’s not a fill-up station. Besides, for me it would be wasteful since the pickup areas are not near me. Plus I can find gas under $3 near home.
We are gradually picking up the pieces. A cold front is on it’s way. Today’s temp was not bad. We were in the mid 70s and mid 60s at night. The air is quality is good and no humidity, a blessing. Clean, fresh air, never felt so good. Someone took a picture after the storm was over. There were two rainbows in the sky. Life never felt so good.
-
Good morning Oodie this does my heart good to know you are alright. 💕😎
Oodie I will write more upstream. I am so glad things are coming together

sq feet. I don’t need to heat every room many we don’t even use in the morning.Oodie due to extreme weather here in OZ it was in the 90’s Sunday and this morning we

Happy Columbus Day to you. You are right, good aromas from the slow cooker. Hubs walked in the kitchen yesterday and said it smells good. I told him if it doesn’t taste good, just stick your head in the pot.🤣 Plenty of leftovers for today.
Our weather is cool also, I’m not complaining. Not too busy a week but I think next week I have something almost every day. Feast or famine.🙄 Thanks to my bartender for all the beautiful drinks.🍹🍸

NAVY BIRTHDAY | OCTOBER 13
On October 13th, the United States Navy observes its birthday every year.
-
NATIONAL TRAIN YOUR BRAIN DAY
On October 13, National Train Your Brain Day challenges us to some puzzling games and riddles! Whether you play solo or go up against teams, the day improves our thinking power.
-
METASTATIC BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY
On October 13, National Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day focuses on the estimated 271,270 Americans diagnosed with this destructive cancer.
Each year, treatments for all kinds of breast cancer are improving. Metastatic cancer is a stage IV cancer invading all areas of the body. It affects the liver, lungs, brain, lymph nodes, and more. Both men and women are diagnosed each year. Additionally, there are different types of metastatic breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While the awareness campaign mainly focuses on preventative measures such as mammography, it is important to know research continues for a cure for metastatic breast cancer. Those with metastatic breast cancer require treatment options and an understanding support system.
Treatment options continually advance. Whether a patient chooses a trial or a more standard approach to treatment, a clinical team will provide options. Either way, a support system of family and friends helps to manage the stress and adjustments that come with the diagnosis.
The day also gives a voice to those who live with metastatic breast cancer. It encourages the world to learn more about the disease, how it progresses, affects the person and those around them. It raises awareness of the need for treatment options, research, and more.
-
NATIONAL NO BRA DAY
National No Bra Day on October 13 encourages wearers to leave that bra at home to promote cancer awareness.
No Bra Day promotes breast cancer awareness to help raise money for research. Many women who have survived breast cancer are unable to go without a bra as they need it to hold their prosthesis after surgery. Additionally, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and No Bra Day should serve as a reminder for all women to be screened for breast cancer. Most types of breast cancer can be treated if caught early.
Screenings and breast exams are a part of the early detection process. The first line of defense is a monthly self-breast exam. The best time to do a breast exam is about ten days after the onset of your menstrual cycle. However, fickle as breasts can be, we do become familiar with them even if they are lumpy. We learn what’s healthy or not. For example, they change texture over the month. Sticking to the same time each month will provide a more accurate exam. For those who don’t menstruate, choose a day of the month always to perform the exam.
As you become more familiar with the shape and texture of your breast, take note of any changes. Use the mirror to help you, too. Dimpling, swelling, and redness will be signs to look for.
When you schedule an annual appointment with your physician, make sure a breast exam is completed, too. Tell your doctor about any changes. If you or your doctor notices any signs, the doctor can order tests, including a sonogram or mammogram.
Finally, a preventative mammogram is the last line of defense. Today’s mammograms offer more vivid detail of the breast tissue. Baseline mammograms are provided around the age of 35 unless family history indicates sooner. The baseline mammogram provides a comparison view for your physician should something develop later down the line. Women age 40 and over are recommended to receive yearly preventative mammograms.

NATIONAL YORKSHIRE PUDDING DAY
National Yorkshire Pudding Day is celebrated on October 13 in the United States and honors a traditional English dish brought over by immigrants.
Not to be confused with a dessert, Yorkshire Pudding is a traditional English dish similar to a popover. The dish is made from a batter and usually served with roast meat and gravy. Cooks in the north of England devised a means of using the fat that dropped into the dripping pans. They created a batter pudding while the meat roasted in the oven. In 1737, one such cook published a recipe for “A Dripping Pudding” in The Whole Duty of a Woman.
In 1747, Hannah Glasse published similar instructions in The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy. She named the recipe ‘Yorkshire Pudding.’ Glasse received credit for re-inventing and renaming the original version of ‘A Dripping Pudding.”
These savory popovers open up a world of possibilities when it comes to fillings. While the gravy is traditional, don’t hesitate to add cheese, eggs, your favorite protein, or an herby filling. If you have more of a sweet tooth, straying from the traditional by adding chocolate, caramel, or a cream cheese filling sounds perfect!

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈😘How are you feeling today? I hope your
husband had something good to eat. 💕I know your hands are full with the house and everything in between. I hope you can take
a good long nap and be rested. I would do that right there with hubby. 💕Let me know how things go for you today I know one day at a time. 😘🎈I am just glad
you are safe. -
Hello Oodiebom, I am truly glad to hear from you. And that you are fine and so is your husband. Having the rehab take the patients to Orlando, moving everyone out of Manatee County and into Orange County was good and the right thing to do.
I was worried about you though, having to go to a shelter and not a far away hotel.
Oodie you say this with love and compassion even though not having met you personally.
Oodie, I don’t know your age, if you are in your sixties, seventies, eighties or older or your hubby’s age. However, we don’t get younger, and as we get older things become harder to get done. How long are you going to be able to evacuate every year and your home repaired?
Have you considered selling your houses in the North. Or one of them and having a brand new home build here in Florida. Just the way you will need for your husband to come home. You can have the bathroom, wheel chair access, floors, and outside ramp all done. Since you like Florida, its weather, and not the cold and snow you would need to deal with. Have a home build, in a area not close to a river, water or ocean. Perhaps in the middle of the state away from an evacuation area. So every time a hurricane comes through you don’t have to evacuate and you can stay in your home. Please think about it long and hard. How long into the future will you be able to go through all that again and again. As I have mentioned before, we moved to Florida in the 1980’s. And have purchased five houses all together. Three build from the ground, and two spec houses. After the first house, we always considered where on the map the homes were. No flood zone (which now days don’t mean much) and no evaluation zone. Only our first house was in a zone C. Which is in a evacuation zone, just before the intercostal bridge. We were lucky that no hurricane came through while we lived there. We didn’t know about hurricanes back than, young and unexperienced. -
I was so happy to see you posted yesterday and you and hubs are okay.😊 But not so much with your home.😕 That is just a material thing, you and Mr. Oodie are the utmost of importance. I have to agree with Sheba that I wish you were safe and sound up north. Florida hasn’t been kind these last couple of years. Give it some thought, maybe things would be easier on you and your husband mentally and physically. I can really understand your husband worrying when he hasn’t heard from you for days.
Good luck with the repairs and praying your power is restored sooner than later.🙏 Sending good vibes your way.🌈 Take care.💗🌹

The last time I saw hubby was Monday evening. I tried contacting the Rehab from late morning to early afternoon. No answer. Finally resorted to their website they were evacuated to their sister rehab (there are 3) in Orlando. Before leaving tried to contact each rehab. No answer. I left with cell and Kindle to a shelter. All hotels were completely booked Friday early afternoon. I stayed in a school about 4 miles from home. TheA/C was icy cold. Walked back to car to retrieve quilt and winter jacket. Kept trying rehabs no answer. We were fed 4 meals/day. In a classroom with others. Mask was not needed because each room held 10 and it was large enough to spread out. We had guests of wind from Tuesday afternoon with light rain on and off. Wedorning and afternoon the same. After dinner ok until about 8;30/8:45 pm. At that time my cell received a warning that the eye of the storm was approaching. It was two hrs early. We had to move aeay from windows and to find a place in the hallway. We just relocated to the other side. We lost electricity soon thereafter. Power will not be restored before Thursday. I am without A/C, hot water, frjg, etc.. Lost entire roof in den and roof and screens in lanai. Contacted our new roofer Thursday afternoon and he was at our home Friday by 9am. Work started today and he will finish Mon.. I am with hubby and he is fine, though loss weight from not eating and worrying about me. I will be leaving shortly and return early
Sun.. Almost all the homes in my area received damaged. My roofer will be extremely busy. I gave our HOA President my recommendation. He is looking for people we can rely on to aid us when beckoned. There is a good probability that we were hit with a tornado. Two new builds lost their entire front. Those homes are inhabitable until repairs are made. I am fortunate that I have a home and hubby is with me. Our favorite side is here also on his day off. He also has no electricity and his wife is home because her business won’t reopen before Thursday.I am so thankful to have all in this community as friends. Just always remember to hug everyone close to you and let them know how much they are loved every single minute of everyday. You do not know what tomorrow will bring. Stay safe. Enjoy the sunrise and the sunsets.

Good afternoon in Florida. Xango I hope you and your husband are doing alright
after that terrible storm Milton. I hope you do not have a lot of damages. Just be
safe and post if and when you can. Praying for you. 💕 -
Hello Sheba 🌻🌻🌻, we made it through the storm. I hope you are well, and your hubby and Poppy are too.
I am concerned with Oodiebom, she is in Manatee County, and had to evacuate. There are many in that country without power. We are not in a evacuation zone, or a flood zone. But in Florida or just about anywhere else now days . One doesn’t have to be in a flood zone to have a flood. We were lucky that no major damage to our home was done. Just some water spots on the ceiling and water under the front door. The wind and rain so vicious and pounding extremely hard.
We were prepared in advance by having plenty of water and food. Hubby had purchased 3 huge batteries before hurricane season came upon us. To power the refrigerator, the freezer and TV. We also have other batteries to connect the coffee maker, air fryer and hot plate. I had baked lots of bread in advance and placed it in freezer. Cooked lots of food in advance too, for the freezer. It’s easy just to heat food in the air fryer and hot plate after the power goes out using the battery.
I wasn’t prepared for the noise the wind made, it was a different kind of noise this time. The huge rain bands and the wind sounded like a distant thunder and sirens all at the same time, that is, to my ears. To hubby’s ears, it was different.
I haven’t experienced such a large hurricane right over us before. In 2004, I went through Charley, Ivan, Frances, and Jeanne. Charley was fast, it came and went with 40 minutes, but did lots of damage. Here in Polk County we started getting rain and winds on Wednesday afternoon and all night until Thursday morning. Right after midnight we lost power, I was surprised until then, that we still had power. Again, we were lucky, power came back in one day.
Sheba, I have been volunteering for a political party. Working with them every day. And I thought it best not to post because I might post something I would regret for being political. So that’s the reason I have stayed away. For now, I will continue to do the same.
I hope you are enjoying your favorite season of the year 🍁🍂🍂🍁🍁.
May you have lots of bike rides in your cool weather, with your hubby and Poppy.
Take care Sheba 🌹🌹🌹 -
Good evening it is so nice to hear from you at last. All we wanted was for you to be
safe. 😎🎈💕I am glad you weathered the storm I think you had a taste of what OZ

that info so I will just leave you a shout out until you are able or feel like posting. Best of
luck in your new venture.Yeah hubby and I will do some bike riding this weekend as it will be warm. 😎
I think I will feel better once we hear from Oodiebom. I hope she does not have a lot
of damage. Oodie will be very happy to see you post as am I. 🎈😎 -

Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. 🎈😎💕OZ is a wee bit warm today. The flowers are
still in bloom. So I am enjoying them for now.I hope you are having a relaxing day. I am visiting my Step-Mom this weekend.
The house is strange without my father.I am very concerned about Oodie and Xango. I think their areas were hit hard by
Milton. I am waiting on Oodie to post when it is safe and she has Wifi. 💕Lady I am going to turn the Telly off too much devastation and my heart goes out
to all that are affected.Hey this is something to make you smile. 😘🎈Sending cool vibes to you and Jake. 😎
-
You are right, all we can do is pray.🙏 I remember a couple years ago Oodie didn’t have power for a few days and we were worried. But she did check in once the power was back. I think her husband was still at home then so now she has the extra job of going to see him. Right now it’s still one day at a time – I wish we could help.😕
Nice day here, we had a frost warning last night.🥶 It will be in the 70s over the weekend then 50s for the first half of the week. Having spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli for dinner, yum!
Hope you have a nice evening, warm hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
-
Good evening oh my your dinner sounds so good. 💕😎Let me get on my broom and fly
there. LOL!Hey enjoy your evening guess what? Xango posted read her post it is very interesting. 💕

NATIONAL HANDBAG DAY
National Handbag Day on October 10 recognizes the versatile and utilitarian bag that goes by many names.
Not only do handbags come in many shapes and sizes. They can be the size of an envelope or almost as large as an overnight bag. They are available in every imaginable color and designs from leopard and zebra prints to calf skin and rhinestones. There truly is something for every taste and style.
Call it what you will – pocketbook, clutch, reticule, purse, evening bag, case, or pouch – they’ve been coming in handy for thousands of years. The earliest designs were a means of survival, but that didn’t stop the user from being creative. Whether they carried tools, ceremonial accessories or gear, the user often decorated them with beads or died the material. Complex pockets organized even the most elaborate sets of accessories.
Today, the availability of synthetic and natural fibers allows for even more variety in design. Bags offer a range of sizes and styles, too. Whether packing light, casual or sophisticated, these purses offer so much to the modern user.

Life rarely follows the straight path we imagine. It’s filled with unexpected turns, highs and lows, moments of doubt, and moments of clarity. But it’s in these twists and turns that we find growth. Each detour teaches us something we might never have learned on a straight line. The ups fill us with joy and remind us of our strength, while the downs, though challenging, shape our resilience and deepen our wisdom. The path may not always make sense as you walk it, but trust that every step, every curve, is leading you to where you’re meant to be.

No backache…..yet.😣 Most of the furniture we can put on a dolly. The hardest is rolling up the rug and taping it. But it’s done until next spring. Plan to take it slow tomorrow.
Hockey season starts tonight for us.🏒 We already have some injuries from training camp and pre-season games, go figure. I’ll see how long my patience lasts.🙄 I did see TS at the game on Monday, she looked stunning. Not your normal football outfit. With the bye week, I guess she’ll hang for a bit before her concerts start back up.
Going to put my feet up and relax. Lots of hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
