Conversation 27

  • Sheba2011
  • 09.19.24 2:30 PM

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 27 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

      NATIONAL PRINCESS DAY

Celebrate the Princess in every girl by taking part in National Princess Day on November 18th!

Perhaps you know a Princess who shines because of her gift of laughter, making everyone around them smile. Maybe your Princess shows her royal nature by her great acts of kindness and heart of gold. Or your Princess may be bold and confident, ready to take on every new challenge!

Whatever our gifts, there is a Princess in each of us – even if you don’t know it yet!

      NATIONAL VICHYSSOISE DAY

November 18th recognizes a cold soup that is loved by many. It is National Vichyssoise Day.

      MICKEY MOUSE BIRTHDAY

On November 18th, Mickey Mouse Birthday commemorates the debut of a lovable mouse that was once a rabbit called Oswald. His character got his start on film on November 18, 1928, but before that, the story begins in 1927, when Walt Disney first sketched a floppy-eared bunny while under contract to Universal Studios. The events that unraveled brought us Mickey Mouse.

      The Sound of Silence
      Song by Simon & Garfunkel

      Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
      Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
      Still remains
      Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
      Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
      That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
      Ten thousand people, maybe more
      People talking without speaking
      People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
      No one dared
      Disturb the sound of silence
“Fools” said I, “You do not know
      Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
      And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence”

Oz is raining I mean heavy rain we needed it. Hubby and I got up all the leaves yesterday. 😎

      @sheba2011

On Saturday, while visiting hubby had another flat tire. Called triple yesterday and the person who came did not have the right implements so all he did was put air in the tires. Once he left, I went to see hubby. I didn’t have time to shop so ordered out to our favorite Italian restaurant for a small salad, French fries and meatball sub. I went to the reception area to wait for the driver and when I returned found hubby sitting on the edge of the bed. He isn’t supposed to do this unless there is an aide present. No, he didn’t use the buzzer or call button. Thought he could do it himself. What he wanted was to get to the closet for some slacks. His legs were cold. I went to the closet and found a pair and he insisted to dress himself. He did great. Of course I used the buzzer to contact the aide and within seconds he was in the room. Of course this was our favorite aide who admonished him for doing something on his own while laughing at the same time. Hubby did the same thing today. When I arrived he was again sitting at the edge of the bed trying to get to the closet for his PJs. This time I helped him back to bed and got what he wanted.

At 11am this morning I contacted Triple again for the flat tire. This time they said I had used up my time on the flat and then I mentioned what happened the day prior. The Agent had to contact her/his supervisor and they put another order in without a problem. My doctor’s appointment was for this afternoon and I had to cancel because of the flat and triple wasn’t sure when someone could come out. Well, triple arrived around 3 pm and added air and also looked at the tire. There was a nail embedded that was causing the problem. I drove to Firestone rather than Costco due to distance. They were able to repair the tire and now I am a happy person. At least for now. The doctor appointment is now for Wednesday morning. Not sure if I will need to cancel. We are supposed to get some much needed rain. Just uncertain as to whether there will be downpours where you cannot see anything in front of you . I will make that decision tomorrow.

The moon was gorgeous on my way home. I felt protected as it followed me home. Have a nice evening. I don’t think any dog or cat like wearing booties no matter the reason.

Oodie, So happy to hear the Prestige boxes work for you. I was a little worried when I read the one review recently left. I don’t expect the anti tarnish to last forever but I’m glad yours are still working.
Sorry about your flat tire. Will take a look at Wallmart but really don’t need too much.
We finally had our 1st good cup of coffee since our return from Vac.

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. 😎😘🎈Oz is having some good rain.

Mr. Poppy have no problem walking in the rain. 🎈😘Taci cold, snow and heat is what he
do not like. I have to put shoes on his little feet.

If you see these beauties along the way just smile. 😎

      Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶

      • 11.19.24 4:25 AM

Sheba, Poppy’s stand-in for the picture is adorable. Dog and Cat fashion is so fun! I saw a short video where a dog has baby bright green croc’s on his paws. Coincidentally, my son had the same color Crocs in boots as a young kid.
Spent some time yesterday cleaning the coffee maker and diagnosing its issue(s). It had a good run of many years, probably too many. We ran out for a new one and had some good coffee this morning.
I purchased the Colleen’s Prestige™ 3-Layer Jewelry Box in cream. It’s a newer version. all 3 drawers in one piece as opposed to separate boxes. I am waiting for the smaller sized boxes but took the plunge, since they don’t seem to be arriving anytime soon. Hoping to consolidate some items, cleaned a lot of jewelry in advance, and posted some to sell. Honing things.
Btw, the Amber in Poland is lovely! Learned about the Amber trail and saw many pieces in museums.

      @taci

Thanks for the update on the Prestige box. I ordered one as well. I have enjoyed these jewelry boxes for years and thus far, “knock on wood,” everything is tarnished free. They look brand new. By the way, if you are still looking for overnight bags, suggest you look at Walmart. Quite a few choices all on sale.

Hi in rainy Oz.🌧 Whatever you have is coming our way. Hubs put the outside Christmas decorations up today🎋 since it’s supposed to maybe rain tomorrow and get cold by Thursday. In the 60s today so that worked for him. Probably won’t light up until Thanksgiving.

Chiefs will bounce back next week, no problem. They always find a way.👍 Kitty and bunny pics are darling.💗

Glad you got the leaves done.🍁🍂 They always seem never-ending since they all don’t fall at the same time. Remember, two bushes at the next house, lol!

Have a nice evening, warm hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

We rained all day you could barely see out of the car.

I was never so glad to get home in one piece. The traffic is insane.

      NATIONAL BAKLAVA DAY

On November 17th, National Baklava Day fills the kitchen with an aroma of a sweet and flaky pastry. Baklava’s sweet layers of texture and flavor are created between sheets of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and drizzled with syrup or honey.

Many believe Baklava to have originated with the Turkic people in Central Asian nations. However, many countries prepare the dessert in a variety of ways. The word “Baklava” first appeared in English in 1650.

If you’ve never tried baklava, try sampling the many varieties. Walnuts, pecans, pistachios, or almonds can be used. The filling can be composed of raisins, dates, prunes, and even figs. Most baklava recipes call for cinnamon, cardamom, or cloves – sometimes all three spices.

Preparing this dessert may be somewhat time-consuming. However, it is a treat worth the work and the wait.

      NATIONAL BUTTER DAY

Few ingredients make a meal richer and more flavorful than butter. On November 17th, National Butter Day gives this creamy ingredient, and those who make it, a pat on the back.

Butter has been used by humans for thousands of years. As recently as the first half of the last century, the butter churn was an essential tool in many kitchens. When butter was rationed during World War II, households struggled to get along without this delicious staple.

Butter can be used in simple and complex ways – spread a pat of butter on warm toast for an instant hit of flavor and texture or use it to create the light, flaky layers in a croissant. It also enhances the mouthfeel of hot drinks, like coffee and cocktails, and it keeps meats tender while roasting. Butter is the crucial ingredient in mouthwatering sauces, rich cookies, creamy mashed potatoes, hearty casseroles, and so much more.

The average American eats 6.3 pounds, or about 25 sticks, of cow’s butter every year. Around the world, butter can be found in cuisines of every culture, and each one uses it to enhance their recipes and enrich their lives.

Around the dinner table, the phrase “Please, pass the butter,” connects us to those we break bread with and to the food we love to eat. National Butter Day invites you to celebrate your favorite dishes and baked goods with butter.

      NATIONAL HOMEMADE BREAD DAY

On November 17th, homes will fill with warm, comforting aromas reminding us to slow down and enjoy National Homemade Bread Day.

Yeast bread calls for us to slow down. We need to spend time with each other as we work the dough and let it rest and rise before baking. Quick breads allow a special treat to share and enjoy with coffee or tea. Other homemade breads, such as donuts, pretzels, muffins, and biscuits, add variety to our everyday meals. And making them with friends and family brings joy and an opportunity to exchange recipes.

Those who make homemade bread commit to using good ingredients and investing in the time. They make it not only because they love the flavor, but because they know the people they love to do also. Homemade bread enriches the flavors of our meals and the flavors of our conversations, too.

Bread is full of symbolism around the world, across cultures and religions. In our lives, bread is valuable. We consider our livelihood to be our daily bread. We are making it, breaking it, consuming it as part of our faith. Bread can be exciting if it’s sliced or boring if it’s white. There’s a bonus bread, too. However, it seems a bit messy if it’s buttered on both sides. Then again, when we roll in the dough, it’s messy, too. Bake it, and it becomes heavy bread, but it means the same thing.

      NATIONAL TAKE A HIKE DAY

National Take a Hike Day on November 17th encourages us to get out there and hit the trails. With over 60,000 miles of trails in the National Trail System across the 50 states, there is no lack of opportunity to take a hike.

Some of those trails are hundreds of years old. For example, the oldest continuously used trail in the United States is Crawford Pathin New Hampshire. The beginnings of the mountain path were cleared to the summit of Mt. Washington in 1819. Other trails allow us to follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark or explore even more ancient history like Effigy Mounds National Monument.

Besides experiencing majestic views and the great outdoors, we also exercise our bodies. Hiking not only gets our hearts pumping and our muscles moving, but being outdoors is good for our minds. Many of us spend too much time indoors behind a desk. Hiking can burn between 400-550 calories per hour. What better way to get a head start on all those ‘other’ holiday temptations and observe Take a Hike Day?

Events around the country celebrate Take a Hike Day. Local, state and National Parks support hiking events encouraging us to enjoy a hike. Be sure to wear good shoes, take a snack and bring a buddy, but get out there and enjoy the fresh air, scenery and get a little exercise to boot!

      • 11.17.24 4:09 AM

      @sheba2011

Our prayers have been answered. We will not see Sara as a hurricane but as a rain event on Wednesday. We definitely could use the showers since we have not seen a drop since Helene visited our area. Milton was a wind event with little or no rain included. I’ve been using the sprinkler on the plants and will be doing same tomorrow.

Did not go shopping and hopefully, will do that Monday or Tuesday. My doctor’s appointment is Monday afternoon and this time I do have a couple of concerns, though nothing alarming. Just the usual sinus migraines and aches and pains. In other words, nothing earth shattering.

Hubby was in a talkative mood yesterday. I could not get a word in the entire time. The aide came in during his on going monologue and gave him an earful. From that moment on all I could do was laugh. The two of them going from one thing to another had me rolling in my seat. Today, totally different. I arrived an hour late and he was sound asleep. Nothing I could do to arouse him, even for a couple of minutes. The RN came in just before I left with some meds and she had some problems as well. I now wonder if the physician put him back on one of the meds that made him sleepy. I will check that out tomorrow. Our aide was MIA today, hopefully he will be back tomorrow.

The weather is finally changing. It is a bit cooler and now I need to think long sleeves. After Wednesday, our temps will be lucky to see 70. Nighttime temps will be in the 50s. Finally getting the temps that I crave. Now I will be able to work outside and do some trim work.

Kind of early for a snow event. Guess you will need to get that shed ready for the kitties and your flowers will have to be inside. Hope you three have a nice evening and a good walk in the moonlight with Poppy.

Sheba, You and Poppy will be styling in your snow shoes! The picture posted is my back yard. The humming birds love the 2 bird-of-paradise plants by my sliding door. We had some neighbors over and were at the table in the back yard and were getting buzzed constantly. I was surprised they weren’t afraid of us. They are beauties.
Sorry about your close family member’s cancer. My Dad had it.

      @taci,

Good Evening I am so glad you like the Hummingbirds. 💕I have them in my backyard.
My neighbor has like 10 bird feeders out so I never have to feed them. They are beauties.

Thank you for thinking of my relative this is hard for the whole family and one we have dealt
with before. I lost my cousin who was barely 50 and she had a young child. This is one
the hardest to fight but fight we will.

Oz is lovely tonight and all that will change in a few days. I am thankful for the beauty we
do have we have lawn and brush pick up next week so hubby has been doing some yard
work and I get a workout too. My nuclear plants are still blooming like it’s springtime that is
due to the fact we have a lot of sun. I am the only one with beautiful flowers. Oops!

I treated myself to some beauty treatments today and I feel great. 💕I had a nice facial
and I had my eye brows threaded. I like a clean smooth arch I look like a different person
and I felt alive. My skin was just glowing. I treated myself to some skin products as well.
I love Dimitri and this will last a while if you take care of your skin your skin will take care of
      you. 💕

Taci enjoy your evening and your birds hey if you can watch them in the Moonlight.

      The Moon Today: Waxing Gibbous.

The moon phase is currently waxing gibbous. This means that more of the moon’s dayside is visible, making it appear brighter in the sky. The waxing gibbous phase occurs between a half moon and a full moon.
Here are some other moon phases:
Full moon: The moon is completely illuminated.
Waning gibbous: The moon is between a full moon and a half moon.
New moon: The moon is between the Earth and the sun, making the moon’s surface appear dark.
The moon reflects light from the sun, rather than creating its own light. The moon can appear orange when it’s low on the horizon or when the sunlight appears orange before passing through the Earth’s atmosphere.

NATIONAL CLEAN OUT YOUR REFRIGERATOR DAY

National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day on November 15th encourages us to prepare for the upcoming holidays. Get together a soap and hot water-filled bucket, disinfectant, a sponge, and a garbage bag. Then you will be ready for the day!

With family gathering and a large turkey waiting to be roasted, cleaning out the refrigerator makes sense. Not only will we need room before the meals, but we also need space for all of the upcoming leftovers. Many dread this job. However, it is an important task nonetheless.

Due to our hectic and busy lifestyles, the cleaning of the refrigerator gets neglected. Hence the creation of National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. There may be a surprise or two found at the back of the shelves. Things are often pushed back as new food is put in the front and gets forgotten.

in life I have only been drinking it for 10 years my husband has been drinking it
      since his teens. LOL!

I would spend a morning at Starbucks and taste and test some of their coffee.

      @sheba2011

Good afternoon friend. Cool, dreary day but it will get better.🌧 Trying to figure out what I want to make for dinner. I think tomorrow I will make some potato soup in the crockpot. Easy and there will be enough to freeze.

I have watched Tracker but not every week. Justin Hartley is one of my favorites all the way back to the soaps. I do miss This Is Us.☹ It was the one show I could not miss each week, so well written.

Had to laugh about the high heeled shoes.🤣 When I worked in the city, I wouldn’t be caught dead in flats. And I would run around every day on my lunch shopping. Now I can’t even walk down my hallway in them.😮 Did you ever have a pair labeled “wedding shoes”? Those were the ones that hurt and you would wear them when sitting a lot.

I think I told you awhile back that my best friend’s husband has cancer. I have been trying to lay low to give them ample time with family. And it’s hard to talk about anything else with her. Just want you to know that, in the future, if you don’t hear from me for a few days it will probably be because of him. Praying for a miracle.🙏

Enjoy your full moon walk this evening.🌕 Hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      @shoelady60,

Good Evening Lady I understand all too well about cancer. If you need some time to help
your friend by all means do whatever you can to ease her pain. I will keep her husband in
my prayers I do prey for others. 💕

I felt something was going on I was hoping it was not your sister or mother.

Lady I am dealing with family health matters one close family member has stage 3 pancreatic
cancer and going through all the chemo and the whole nine yards. This family member is
only in her 50’s. I don’t talk much about it because for the last ten years my family have been
getting hit left and right with one thing or another. Hence the reason this thread exists. So I
can just step away if only for a moment.

Take it easy we are all getting ready for year end medical appointments and the holidays.
I am here if you need me rest well sweet friend. 💕😘Be sure to look up at the moon.

      Laura Branigan Lyrics
      “Self Control”

Oh, the night is my world
      City light painted girl
      In the day nothing matters
It’s the night time that flatters
      In the night, no control
      Through the wall something’s breaking
      Wearing white as you’re walkin’
Down the street of my soul

You take my self, you take my self control
You got me livin’ only for the night
Before the morning comes, the story’s told
You take my self, you take my self control

Another night, another day goes by
I never stop myself to wonder why
You help me to forget to play my role
You take my self, you take my self control

I, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven’t got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just believe it
      That tomorrow never comes

A safe night, I’m living in the forest of my dream
I know the night is not as it would seem
I must believe in something, so I’ll make myself believe it
      This night will never go

      Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
      Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

Oh, the night is my world
      City light painted girl
      In the day nothing matters
It’s the night time that flatters

I, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven’t got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just believe it
      That tomorrow never knows

A safe night, I’m living in the forest of a dream
I know the night is not as it would seem
I must believe in something, so I’ll make myself believe it
      This night will never go

      Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
You take my self, you take my self control
You take my self, you take my self control
You take my self, you take my self control

You take my self, you take my self control
You take my self, you take my self control
You take my self, you take my self control

Amy Winehouse – Back to Black (Vinyl) Here on HSN. 😘😎

      Valerie
      Song by Amy Winehouse

Well, sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing
And in my head I paint a picture
‘Cause since I’ve come on home
Well, my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
      Won’t you come on over
Stop makin? a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over Valerie?
Did you have to go to jail
Put your house on up for sale
Did you get a good lawyer?
Hope you didn’t catch a tan
Hope you find the right man
      Who’ll fix it for you
      Are you shopping anywhere
Changed the color of your hair
      Are you busy?
And did you have to pay that fine
You was dodging all the time
      Are you still dizzy?
      Since I’ve come on home
Well, my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
      Won’t you come on over
Stop makin? a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over Valerie?
Well, sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing
And in my head I paint a picture? Cause since I’ve come on home
Well, my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
      Won’t you come on over

Jennifer Hudson – The Gift of Love CD w/HSN Exclusive Bonus Track

      Jennifer Hudson Lyrics
      “Auld Lang Syne”

      Should auld acquaintance be forgot
      And never brought to mind
      Should auld acquaintance be forgot
      And auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dear
      For auld lang syne
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
      For auld lang syne

But surely you’ll buy your pint cup
      And surely I’ll buy mine
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
      For auld lang syne

We two have paddled in the stream
      From morning sun till dine
But seas between us broad have roared
      Since auld lang syne

      Oh
      Auld lang syne

Oh, should auld acquaintance be forgot
      And never brought to mind
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
      For auld lang syne

      Auld lang syne
      Auld lang syne

      The dancing kitties—-AMAZING

At 3 AM, I cleaned the frig from top to bottom. Took only a half hour. Then went to bed. Yep, fell asleep at the computer again.

Didn’t go shopping today. I was on my way to see hubby and picked up some meds on the way. Decided to use Walmart for dinner and bought a salad. However, I noticed when I opened my bag that the credit cards were missing along with my driver’s license. I returned to the car after paying for the salad and went through everything. Decided I needed to return home and see if I left them on the desk. Arrived home OK and went to get the key for the door and lo and behold, there were the credit cards and even my driver’s license. Of course they were in the wrong spot. Talk about what your mind was doing at the time????

I didn’t see hubby tonight. Tomorrow will go to the Farmer’s Market for veggies. Sometimes I crave for a veggie stir fry. Or, to make a soup. I will need to check with the RN to see if this is possible for hubby. I don’t dare try it without asking. He gets into a coughing fit which is difficult to watch. One on duty RN did give him cough medicine which worked. No one else had tried that. I ordered the single serve coffee maker with the carafe from HSN and it arrive yesterday. I am thinking that I may take this machine with me to the Rehab and make hubby some tea with Manuka. I enjoy the loose tea rather than teabags. May give it a try.

The moon is full tonight. We haven’t seen much of the moon because of cloud cover. No rain since the last storm. Tomorrow I will water the plants. Still watching the tropics. Florida may see just a rain event. Not sure since some stations still say a major hurricane. Should know one way or the other by Sunday.

Hope you three have a great evening. Stay safe.

Sheba, My son had fun. Toured and visited historic sites. I think he and his bud will go again to see more of the sites.
I understand rent can be high in all coastal areas there are plenty of places to live outside the high cost locations. It’s a choice in my view. They are always building in the area where I live and all nearby Cities. My 1st year in S CA I lived in a house in a suburb in the Valley and commuted 1 hour each way sometimes more. This wasn’t unusual for people to do.
It’s great you can walk in heels and are in great shape. That takes effort.

Taci I do not do the heels walking anymore where I lived I took public transportation and when
I was in New York City well you always dressed to the nines even in the daytime. I had no
problem ever wearing heels. I am comfortable in my flats when I do garden or walk long
distance with Poppy. 💕😎 I am all about comfort and you need a good pair of shoes

      Autumn Leaves
      Song by Nat King Cole

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling

I am running extremely late. I’ve been on the phone all morning with auto insurance. I just finished and have received the update in e-mail. This helps to give hubby all the info and for us together make the final decision. I have not been to either market. Today is the last day of the sale with the Farmers. Guess I will make a stop for Asian.

All cable stations are saying this could be a category 3 storm. We are expected to get a cold front the end of the week and through the weekend. Don’t know if this will be enough to downgrade the storm which is expected to be here a week from today. Fingers and toes are crossed as well as sending prayers. I am getting the den ready with huge bins, just in case. Doctor appointment is next week. Hope I won’t need to cancel.

      @oodiebom,

Good Evening I hope you can slow down a bit now that you have some info to go on
      with the insurance.

I would get the Market down another day. Enjoy this evening with your husband.
I am praying no more storms in your area.

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. 🎈😘😎Taci very happy your son is home safe.
Taci my niece friends all moved to Mexico because of the housing being expensive
in SD. The kids walk across the boarder everyday and they are picked up by friends.
This has been going on for years. I know a lot of people go to the Resorts down there
and have a great time. I always have my niece text me when she is back home.

Taci are these the steps? I can handle that I see why you love it. This is a great workout
for the legs and the gluteus maximus. 💕😎 I have long legs and a nice tush.
I use to be a workout addict because I like how I felt after a good workout. My endorphins
      were off the charts. 💕😎🎈

I am sure your son has stories to tell about his visit and I am sure he will be going back.

Hey Happy Trails. 🎶🎶 Very rainy and chilly in OZ today. 💕😎

      • TACI
      • 11.14.24 1:32 AM

Sheba, Hello. Rent is expensive all over SD. Do these friends work on the US side? When I was just out of College and new to living in LA , with the high rents, I got a 2nd job and babysat. Then I managed to get into a rent controlled studio. Still expensive to me but that’s how I managed it. I have heard stories of 8 students in a one or 2 bedroom apt.
For me, it’s a no. No living there and no vacationing there. Like you, I know many people do and seem to enjoy it. Back in the day when we lived in the very cold mid west, my parents had friends who went to Acapulco for the warm weather.
Yes, those are the steps. See all those steps? It’s much easier to get exercise where for me it takes effort. I think Co and AZ have an incline (step hikes). I’m not surprised you can do these steps. You seem to be in great shape!

      @taci,

Good Evening those young college educated kids all work in the USA. 😎 The only reason
they live in Mexico is that it is cheaper. I think it’s a regional things because I know of no
other place that you can work, go to school and cross everyday into the USA. I know
a bit about this because my niece does on the regular to visit friends but it’s not just
any place where the kids are going is a safe and secure place. I would not try it I would
work three jobs if necessary and no I will not have room mates!

The world is changing and not in a good way our kids should not have to leave the
US to leave in that part of the country. Great for a vacation and having fun but I cannot
live there.Taci every one of her friends are from the LA and SD area.

Yeah I am in good shape always have been. Just that sneaky BC that they caught in time
but I still went through all the emotion and stress I still had weeks of treatments during
Covid-19 shutdown. I also had surgery but I still have them. 💕I come to the end of the
road on this next month so I am walking tender.

I love those steps I have done some almost like that when I wore high heel shoes I would
get stopped on the streets and women would ask how did I do it. I was a model and we
learned how to walk in them. 😎🎈

I will give the game a chance; after the last disaster, I may be done watching in ten minutes.😣 Like you, have to run around tomorrow morning.

      Kissing a Fool
      Song by George Michael

      You are far
When I could have been your star
      You listened to people
Who scared you to death and from my heart
Strange that you were strong enough
      To even make a start
But you’ll never find peace of mind
‘Til you listen to your heart
      People
You can never change the way they feel
Better let them do just what they will
      For they will
If you let them steal your heart from you
      People
Will always make a lover feel a fool
But you knew I loved you
We could have shown them all
We should have seen love through
Fooled me with the tears in your eyes
Covered me with kisses and lies
      So goodbye
But please don’t take my heart
      You are far
I’m never gonna be your star
      I’ll pick up the pieces
      And mend my heart
      Maybe I’ll be strong enough
I don’t know where to start
But I’ll never find peace of mind
While I listen to my heart
      People
You can never change the way they feel
Better let them do just what they will
      For they will
If you let them steal your heart
      And people
Will always make a lover feel a fool
But you knew I loved you
We could have shown them all
But remember this, every other kiss
That you ever give long as we both live
When you need the hand of another man
One you really can surrender with
I will wait for you like I always do
      There’s something there
That can’t compare with any other
      You are far
When I could have been your star
      You listened to people
Who scared you to death and from my heart
Strange that I was wrong enough
To think you’d love me too
I guess you were kissing a fool

NATIONAL PIZZA WITH THE WORKS EXCEPT ANCHOVIES DAY

National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day says to hold the fishes! Anchovy lovers move over on November 12th. All the other pizza lovers get their due and pile on their toppings. This annual pizza holiday gets the spotlight with olives, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, and onions. How about mushrooms, bacon, or pineapple? Approved! Just no fishy business on this national day, or no pizza for you!

      NATIONAL FRENCH DIP DAY

On November 12th, warm up some au jus and celebrate National French Dip Day!

Served up hot, tender slices of beef or pork on a French roll make up a delicious sandwich. Sometimes cheese is added. However, the key ingredients are the au jus and spicy mustard. The combination of tender beef swimming in a flavor bath of pan drippings absorbed into the crusty roll makes the French dip a decadent, multi-napkin experience everyone needs to have.

NATIONAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY

National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day celebrates who you are and how you get there. Take time to nurture your soul on November 12th.

A little chicken soup does a lot of good. It’s warm and hearty. As we cup our hands around the bowl, the heat radiates into our bodies. The steam hits our face with a comforting aroma. Similar to what chicken soup does for our bodies, the regular nurturing of our souls benefits our health. Whether you pick up a book, meditate or go for a long walk, reflect on who you are and your achievements.

      Tuesday Afternoon
      Song by The Moody Blues

      Tuesday afternoon
      I’m just beginning to see
      Now I’m on my way
      It doesn’t matter to me
      Chasing the clouds away
      Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I’ve got to find out why
      Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh
I’m looking at myself reflections of my mind
It’s just the kind of day to leave myself behind
So gently swaying through the fairyland of love
If you’ll just come with me you’ll see the beauty of
      Tuesday afternoon
      Tuesday afternoon
      Tuesday afternoon
      I’m just beginning to see
      Now I’m on my way
      It doesn’t matter to me
      Chasing the clouds away
      Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I’ve got to find out why

Good Evening. I just finished with a CS chat. I don’t recall if I mentioned that I left my Amazon
tablet in hubby’s room Saturday night. When I returned yesterday it still wasn’t around. Not to worry. All private info was taken care of immediately. I stopped at the reception desk and mentioned it and within a half hour it was found. There was no way anyone could use it. Also found was my paperwhite tablet. Both are my favorite devices and I must admit, I have many.

Hubby is awesome. I met with the head nurse today and he will be working with me to get hubby into the car. However, I also mentioned that he might like to visit Costco and the Farmer’s Market. Both he and Physical Therapy will work with me in getting him in and out of our vehicle and into a cart for riding around either place. He will be like a kid in a candy store. So exciting…..😀🧨🎹🎵🌈 It was this nurse that found my devices.

Tomorrow the Farmer’s Market and Aldi. I love the Dragon Fruit and Blueberries together. However, there are times when I do both in a dish or two. Love the dragon fruit with eggs and also with chicken, pork and beef. Each brings on a different flavor/taste. Tomorrow is veggie day. I want to do a stir fry. By the way, I love the hex clad and also the new stainless steel pots and pans that keep the food from sticking. Clean up has never been so easy.

I’m cleaning the frig tonight. Decided the freezer really needed a cleaning even though I did it just a few weeks ago. This will keep me from falling asleep at the computer. I’m also watching the tropics again. This one looks serious even though there is a slight chance it won’t materialize. Fingers are crossed, toes also….

Sheba, Yes, my son made it here safely. They had a good time and said there was a lot to see. My son had to go right back to work.
Your kids are busy with travel and work. It’s good to be busy.
It was interesting to read about your niece going to Mexico so often. Here’s a tid bit that I didn’t know, but you might. Mexico City is sinking. It was built on a Lake. I learn the craziest stuff from kids.
I miss all the steps and walking from Vacation. Look up Coimbra Univ. (Portugal) Steps. We toured the area and visited some of the museums there. Some students wear long dark robes. When we arrived it was evening and it was an interesting site, especially since we didn’t know about the tradition.
Funny about the cats having expensive tastes.
