Sometimes the very thing we want most—love, peace, happiness—can frighten the parts of us that remember being hurt.

Old wounds can make us pull away before someone has the chance to leave. They can make us question kindness, distrust tenderness, or mistake protection for isolation.

Healing asks us to recognize those patterns before they make our decisions for us.

Not everyone who comes close is coming to hurt you. Sometimes love arrives gently, and we have to heal enough to let it stay.

Give yourself grace while you learn the difference between what is happening now and what happened before. 🐦‍⬛❤️
