I created and started this thread 13 years ago in March. 😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎I have been shopping and posting on HSN since the late
90’s 😎I have wonderful memories from the HSN we all know and love.

Inspired by classic utility silhouettes and reimagined in our softest Lux Touch denim — this jacket was designed to feel polished, powerful, and endlessly wearable.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈Oodie sorry that knee is bothering you.
Sorry I missed your post from last night I am a wee bit under the weather.
Going inside and out feeding animals and I have a slight head cold took meds last
night and I was out of it. LOL!

Oodie do you have a wrap you can put around your knee? I am glad hubby is alright.
You have a lot going on today please be careful. This is when you need a day to yourself.

Take your time and just do what you can. I am sure hubby would love to see you if
      possible. 💕

      • OODIEBOM
      • 02.21.26 11:29 PM

      @sheba2011

I am in the dining room with hubs. The knee is still a problem, but am making the best with the situation. This is all due to the fall last month. The weather is the issue and that will change tomorrow afternoon. Rain chances are minimum. Instead it will be very windy. After this passes I should be OK.

I have the new Alexa and it has been a wonderful experience. She is helping me find new contractors who have experience with handicapped accessibility. She has also led me to Toyota Mobility which could save me $$ in turning the passenger side of our van into an Area for a wheelchair or scooter. This will enable me to use a switch in the van for a ramp. I never knew this existed. So many new areas to check and learn.

So sorry you are under the weather. Could it be a sinus issue. Sap has started running. Even though it has been cold, the days are now a bit longer. I have been taking sinus meds at night. So far this hasn’t been an issue. Oh, forgot to mention. I made a stop at Costco today. They have a new item. Tomato Basil Soup with grilled cheese. I bought it for hubs. He may not be able to eat the sandwiches, but he will enjoy the soup.

Take care of yourself. Hope you feel better soon.

      @oodiebom,

Good Evening I am wearing my Hoodie Robe from HSN and I am snug as bug in a rug. 💕😎
I am feeling much better I just need to cover up more when going out during the night
to feed the animals. 💕In fact all I am eating today is Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese
that is all I have an appetite for. 💕🎈

My mother would make that for me when we were under the weather. 💕

Oz is cold tonight the babies are all fed and I am going to rest and watch what is
left of the Games. I know tomorrow is the last day. What a ride and so many surprises
      this has been. 💕🎈😎

This is what i will end the night with hubby and just rest. 💕

So glad you made it to see your husband will be even happier when he is home with you. 💕

      • OODIEBOM
      • 02.22.26 4:17 AM

      @sheba2011

While at Costco, I had time to go down some of the aisles. What I saw was sticker shock. Canned salmon was on top of my list. I saw plenty of tuna. No salmon. Saw a Costco employee and asked. He said the price was too high to sell in the club. I also asked about the Olive Garden Salad Dressing. Again, the price made them not stock it at this time. I enjoy lentils. The ones I usually purchase were 9.95 just a few months ago. Passover is just about a few weeks from now. This is the time I stock up pm Gefilte fish. Last year I could purchase two jars for 9.95. Today, $16.95. Guess I will try making my own. Hubs could not believe the prices. When I stopped at the bakery, the clerks were remarking that the prices will be going up very soon. Found shopping very interesting.

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. I hope you are enjoying the Games. 💕🎈😎
I love the Olympic Skater Alysa Liu she is from your State and she is a Leo. 💕
I knew it she exudes confidence. 💕😎 Well done.

Well the Games are over tomorrow and I will watch every minute of it. 💕

My cold will not stop me. LOL!

Hey here is to safe trails.

      • TACI
      • 02.22.26 4:39 AM

Sheba, Hello! and Happy Saturday. She is certainly a strong beauty of a Skater and fresh air for the US. She looks happy skating. Her family story is also very interesting.

One of my neighbors is moving about 1 1/2 hours away to a more active community for their age range. It’s good for them but sad since I remember when her parents lived in the house and her parents were wonderful people. The change is good so they can be in a community with fun things to do.

      Have a great evening!

Please take care of yourself so you don’t end up with the virus hubs and I had. That lasted way too long and put hubs in the hospital. Feel better soon.🤧

Watching the skating exhibition right now. I sure am going to miss these games, especially in the afternoon. I’m not a soap opera fan and can’t handle more news.😖 I will be watching at 8:00 tomorrow morning, hope it’s a good game.🏒🥅

More cold and snow tomorrow into Monday. I know you have it now. Hang in there, sending hugs to you, Poppy, Miss Kitty and her friends.🤗💖

      @shoelady60,

Good Evening i am taking it easy I never left the house and I let hubby fed the cats. 😎
So many good movies on TCM and the Games so I am doing alright. I agree with you
about the news it will send me into a coma.

The Games are a wonderful escape to watch nations do their thing with their very best. 💕

Tomorrow I will watching the big game and the ending ceremony I miss them already.

A toast to a end the night. 💕😎🎈I will have one glass it might make me feel better. 😎

Watching Alysa Liu skate and win gold last night was incredible. 💕😎

Her journey is so inspiring, after retiring at 16, she returned with a true sense of self and a focus on her mental health.

It’s a reminder for all of us, at any age…take care of yourself. Rest, take breaks, and rediscover your passions. She skates now because she truly loves it. Do what you love, and remember—it’s okay to fail.

      What a Wonderful World
      Song by Louis Armstrong

      I see trees of green
      Red roses too
      I see them bloom
      For me and you
      And I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      I see skies of blue
      And clouds of white
      The bright blessed day
      The dark sacred night
      And I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      The colors of the rainbow
      So pretty in the sky
      Are also on the faces
      Of people going by
      I see friends shaking hands
      Saying, “How do you do?”
      They’re really saying
      I love you
      I hear babies cry
      I watch them grow
      They’ll learn much more
      Than I’ll ever know
      And I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      Yes, I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      Ooh, yes

Did not see hubs today. Knee is giving me a problem, but managed to do one huge load of laundry. I will try to go tomorrow since I have some clothing for him due to the weather change during the week. There was a 66% chance for rain on Sunday. Notice I said WAS. We are now at 25% chance. Oh well. Guess we are still in the winter mode.

Tomorrow I will try to stop at Costco. Not sure. Also need the Farmer’s Market for veggies and fruit. If I make it, then will try to find things that do not need refrigeration right away.

Spoke to the receptionist this evening and found out that hubs was trying to go out the front door. He knows I am having some problems but to wheel himself the five miles to the house, not a good idea. The RN and Aides will watch him. Good to know that at the moment he is lucid and that is important. At least he is now getting the protein and veggies he needs and that is making the difference’.

Hope you all have a wonderful evening. I was watching the games at the rehab. Now using my computer to see all the hoopla.

Good Evening hubby brought home a nice Fish Dinner. 😎💕I am going to Mass on
      Sunday.

Oz is frozen we are in the 20’s with light snow heading our way. What a winter.

i am going to shower and let the Games watch me. 😎i have a slight cold running in
and out of the house feeding the cats. Miss Kitty will not leave my door it is all glass
and we can see each other. i have spoiled her so much. Poppy stands guide because
he is the only baby in his mind that matters. Poppy is right by my side as I type this post. LOL!

I love Poppy and as a rescue dog I will never give him up. 😎💕I love all four of my outdoor
cats somehow they picked me and i love them too.

Here is a little something to warm you up during the Games. I knew I had a head cold
coming when the weather changes to extreme so fast that is when I get hit. I took some
meds and hubby and I are going to relax. All of our children have checked in. 💕🎈

Enjoy the Games i am sure we have more surprises in store.

      NATIONAL LASH DAY

Each year National Lash Day on February 19th promotes the love and need for true and false eyelashes. The day offers an opportunity to explore the benefits and fashion of lashes.

Eyelashes are a staple item to every makeup look and beauty enthusiast. Lashes have always been known to make your eyes pop and stand out from the crowd. As important as how they make us look, they also help keep dirt or substances from entering the eye and aid in preventing infections. Another important benefit eyelashes provide is preventing eye moisture from evaporating. Lashes shade our eyes in a variety of lengths and colors, too. Needless to say, eyelashes are a true necessity for every person at any age.

Hi and good evening. I had problems with the left knee. Had trouble putting weight on that foot and was able to go down two steps and then had to call it a day on the third one which is very steep. I took some meds and rested and then tried again. Decided to stay home. Guess we are on the verge of a change in the weather. Later, after resting was able to do a load of laundry. I will definitely see hubs tomorrow to try to make up for the last few days.

      @sheba2011

Home today doing this and that. Took a quick break and found the clock stating it was 5pm. So much for a break. So now will play a bit of catchup to make the dent that I tried to do earlier. As for the donations, I think I may need an U-Haul It or someone’s truck. Have tons to donate and I am a happy person.

I ordered the three Flipo Mini Lights and they are cute. I needed something to put on the Dbest Trolley so I could find the front door after visiting hubs. It will also come in handy in the laundry room. Cannot wait to show hubs the new toys. These are a bit easier to use since it can hang from the trolley. It’s not only to find my way to the front door, but after seeing a huge snake in the middle of our carport, this will definitely make the walkway a bit easier. This huge snake was or is a boa constrictor. It’s gone and that is all that matters.

Today was another beauty. In the low 80s. However, the weather here is due for another change. Not sure if we will have rain and wind, but our temps will be quite low. 55-60 during the day. 35-40 at night. It will last most of next week. My warmer clothing is in the laundry room. Guess I better get a move on….lol. Never a dull moment as far as weather goes. Think I will make some hot chocolate over the weekend. Soup is in the forecast for next week as well.

No way I would be screaming for the cats and my husband. 😎🎈Hey a girl can only do
so much I am good with a pistol and I shoot really good but that is one critter I never want
to cross. Oh hubby found a nest of them in our backyard one year I just ran into the house.

Oodie we have snow coming back and cold weather within days. Waaa…😒

No worries Spring will be here soon. 😎💕

      @sheba2011

The snake story. Approximately two weeks prior to the snake, I happened to make a trip to the trunk of my car to grab a couple of bottles of purified water. The container holds 40 bottles, approximately 16 ounces each. The container is too heavy for me and as I leave the warehouse, I ask for help to get them into my vehicle. On the return with two bottles in hand, I happened to glance to my right and saw something on a chair. Thankfully, the light went on and I could see an owl perched on the back of the metal chair. Actually, it was an owlet that still had a tooth on his beak. He didn’t flinch when I spoke to him. Just cocked his head to look at me and followed where I was. It was cute/ Grey and white. I finally went into the house and said goodnight. It was gone by morning. Two weeks later I had a delivery of water from Sam’s Club which was left to the side of our front steps. However, just beyond the water I spied something on the ground that wasn’t there when I arrived home following seeing hubs. I realized that the opening for the water was near this thing. The light was on and I could make out huge scale markings and a long tail. The body was huge and right away I knew it was a snake. I really needed the water and I prayed that the creature would not come after me. I grabbed the two bottles and made it up the three steps and through the front door. I went straight to the computer and wrote a brief description of what I saw. That’s how I found what it was. Thank goodness I have not seen it since nor do I ever want to see it again. With the lake (I call it a puddle) behind our home we have quite a few species of birds, turtles, fish, mussels, etc.. There are water snakes in it as well and of course every so often an alligator. I rarely go in the back area. Now you know why.

Good afternoon to you. Had an appointment at noon today so missed a few things at the Olympics but I have the hockey game on now.🏒 It’s fun to watch guys on your home team playing against each other. I always thought the Olympics were amateur athletes but not in hockey, basketball or golf. Not sure when that changed. Watched the aerial skiing last night, which I call summersault skiing, and held my breath!⛷️ Plan to stay in tomorrow to catch the ladies skating final in the afternoon.⛸️

Picked up some Chinese for dinner which is good for Ash Wednesday.🥡 Lots of area fish frys starting Friday.

Join me in drink wine day later while we watch the games.🍷 Sending sparkling hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      A Change Is Gonna Come
      Song by Sam Cooke

I was born by the river
      In a little tent
Oh, and just like the river, I’ve been running
      Ever since
      It’s been a long
A long time coming, but I know
      A change gon’ come
      Oh yes, it will
      It’s been too hard living
      But I’m afraid to die
      ‘Cause I don’t know what’s up there
      Beyond the sky
      It’s been a long
A long time coming, but I know
      A change gon’ come
      Oh yes, it will
      I go to the movie
      And I go downtown
      And somebody keep telling me
      “Don’t hang around”
      It’s been a long
A long time coming, but I know
      A change gon’ come
      Oh yes, it will
Then, I go to my brother
And I say, “Brother, help me, please”
But he winds up knockin’ me
Back down on my knees, oh
There been times that I thought
      I couldn’t last for long
But now, I think I’m able
      To carry on
      It’s been a long
A long time coming, but I know
      A change gon’ come
      Oh yes, it will

      Eternal Flame
      Song by The Bangles

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
      Am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?
I believe it’s meant to be, darling
I watch you when you are sleeping
      You belong with me
Do you feel the same? Am I only dreaming?
Or is this burning (burning) an eternal flame?
      Say my name
      Sun shines through the rain
      A whole life so lonely
And then come and ease the pain
I don’t want to lose this feeling, oh
      Say my name
      Sun shines through the rain
      A whole life so lonely
And then come and ease the pain
I don’t want to lose this feeling, oh
Close your eyes, give me your hand
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
      Am I only dreaming?
Or is this burning an eternal flame?
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
      Am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
      Am I only dreaming?
      Oh (an eternal flame)
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
      Am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling

      FAT TUESDAY

The last day of Carnival and the day before Ash Wednesday, Fat Tuesday is the intertwining of a period of festivals and feasts that lead to a time of fasting and reflection. Also known as Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras, this enduring celebration has many traditions and deep roots around the world.

Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) dates back to an ancient Roman festival honoring the deities Lupercalia and Saturnalia which took place in mid-February. When Christians arrived in Rome, they incorporated the festival into Lenten preparations.

For centuries, this solemn feast prepared Christians for the season of Lent and used up valuable meat and supplies they would be abstaining from in the days to come. Traditions surrounding the day have changed through the ages. Through time and culture, the practices of Lent and Carnival, Mardi Gras, and Shrove Tuesday have varied and become incorporated into regional customs.

In the United Kingdom, Shrove Tuesday is also known as Pancake Day. Pancakes are the perfect menu item when the future includes abstaining from fats, eggs, and sweets! In Russia, they celebrate the entire week during Shrovetide as Pancake Week.

      FASTNACHT DAY

With deep roots in Germany, Fastnacht Day is a pre-Lenten celebration that takes place the day before Ash Wednesday.

Fastnacht means “fast” and “night” in German. In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Fastnacht represents an entire season of festivities leading up to Shrove Tuesday. The traditions are rooted in the same pre-Lenten celebrations that have taken place for centuries. Those fasting for Lent used up the rich foods they would be giving up in a feast.

One of the traditional items to come out of the celebration was a pastry made from potatoes and yeast. This delicious doughnut known as fastnacht came the U.S. by way of the Pennsylvania Dutch. In their settlements, the pastry is one of the principal food traditions. The sweet treat is often cut into a triangle or square. Along with fastnacht, the celebration in Pennsylvania Dutch country includes a sumptuous feast before the long 40 days fast.

The sweet holiday of Paczki Day takes place the day before Ash Wednesday. The Polish tradition of indulging in fried dough filled with jams, custards or other sweet surprises dates back to the Middle Ages.

In August 1979, Nora Ephron was seven months pregnant when she found the love letter.
      It wasn’t hidden very well.
It was inside a children’s book in her Georgetown home — a gift meant for her husband. From another woman.
      Inside, a tender inscription.
      The kind you don’t misread.
The kind that splits your life into before and after.
Her husband was Carl Bernstein — the journalist who helped expose Watergate. Their marriage was high-profile, glamorous, politically connected.
The other woman was Margaret Jay — daughter of a former British Prime Minister and wife of the British Ambassador to the United States.
      Not a stranger.
      A guest at their table.
Rumors had circulated for months. Washington always whispers before it speaks. But Nora, pregnant and raising their young son, had chosen not to believe them.
Now the proof was in her hands.
She flew to New York and sat in her therapist’s office.
“My heart is broken,” she said. “I will never be the same.”
The therapist replied calmly: “You were going to leave him eventually.”
Days later, she went into early labor. On August 15, 1979, she gave birth to their second son.
That December, gossip columns made the affair public.
Nora packed up her children and left Washington for New York — the city she had never wanted to abandon in the first place.
She moved in temporarily with her friend and editor Robert Gottlieb. Two babies. A broken marriage. A public scandal.
      Most people would have hidden.
      Nora did something else.
      She wrote.
In 1983, she published *Heartburn* — a novel so lightly fictionalized it barely bothered with disguise.
Rachel Samstat, a cookbook author, discovers her political journalist husband is having an affair while she’s seven months pregnant.
      The names changed.
      The betrayal didn’t.
Nora layered the story with recipes she had once cooked for Carl. She infused it with wit sharp enough to sting.
“If I tell the story, I control it,” her narrator says. “If I tell it, I can make you laugh.”
      The book was funny.
      Painfully funny.
      It was also unmistakable.
Carl Bernstein was furious. He publicly said he wished she hadn’t written it. Friends whispered to reporters. Legal threats followed when Hollywood announced a film adaptation.
      It didn’t matter.
In 1986, *Heartburn* became a film starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.
      Carl could not stop it.
Nora had taken something that humiliated her and turned it into authorship.
      And she didn’t stop there.
She went on to write *When Harry Met Sally…*
      Then *Sleepless in Seattle.*
      Then *You’ve Got Mail.*
She became one of the defining voices of romantic comedy — not because she believed love was simple, but because she understood how complicated it was.
She knew what it meant to be disappointed.
      To start over.
      To laugh instead of collapse.
In 1987, she married screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi. They remained together for the rest of her life.
She never publicly re-litigated the divorce. She didn’t need to.
      She had already written it.
When Nora Ephron died in 2012, her memorial drew filmmakers, actors, writers — and Carl Bernstein himself.
Her son later titled a documentary about her *Everything Is Copy.*
      It was her philosophy.
      The affair.
      The heartbreak.
      The humiliation.
      All of it became material.
Carl Bernstein helped bring down a president.
Nora Ephron did something quieter and, in its own way, just as enduring.
She proved that when you tell your own story, no one can take it from you.
      She couldn’t stop the betrayal.
But she could turn it into art.
      And art, unlike scandal, lasts.
The pen doesn’t just record what happens.
      Sometimes it redeems it.
And in the end, Nora had what she wanted most:
      The narrative.
      And the final word.

🔥 The Fire Horse cycle begins
      February 17, 2026 — February 5, 2027
      Stillness closes, movement answers.
This is not a quiet energy. It pushes decisions forward, breaks hesitation, and asks you to act instead of waiting.
Expect courage where you used to doubt. Clarity where you used to overthink. Momentum where you felt paused.
This is a season for bold direction, independence, and trusting your inner spark.
      Not comfort , evolution.
Move intentionally. Choose with confidence. Let your fire lead.🔥

I am with hubs as I type. A beautiful and warm Tuesday. I think the temp hit 76 degrees. The evening low will be in the mid 50s. Still have not used the A/C since Nov. something. Humidity is doable.

Made a stop at Sams Club. Had a yen for ribs. None. Maybe next week. Did pick up the shrimp and Cobb salad. Also a Baldacci book. Line for gas so decided to wait a day or two. May get the gas at Costco.

I started going through the never ending task of donations. So far I have marked quite a few boxes with a “D.” Makes me feel good to donate where someone could use them. It also means more room in cabinets and closets. Of course that means more stuff. Who can resist.😇😇

🌑 A rare eclipse era is beginning!
From 2026 to 2028, the world will witness an incredible sequence of six solar eclipses a mix of dramatic “Ring of Fire” events and breathtaking total solar eclipses. This powerful alignment is happening because multiple Saros cycles are overlapping, creating a back-to-back run of major eclipses across different continents.
🔥 Annular Eclipses (Ring of Fire)
      • Feb 2026 — sweeping across Antarctica
      • Feb 2027 — visible in parts of Chile, Argentina & West Africa
      • Jan 2028 — crossing the Galápagos and Spain
      🌒 Total Solar Eclipses
      • Aug 2026 — touching Iceland, Greenland & northern Spain
      • Aug 2027 — stretching across Spain, North Africa & Egypt, with exceptionally long totality
      • Jul 2028 — crossing Australia & New Zealand, including Sydney
Unlike the 2008–2010 cycle, when many eclipses occurred over oceans, this time the paths travel across populated and iconic locations. For skywatchers and eclipse chasers, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity three total eclipses on three continents in less than two years.
And it all begins with a blazing ring of fire over Antarctica. 🌞🔥
