Conversation – 17

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Enjoy this wonderful September Thursday Peeps! ✨😎🌹

Yes, I am glad the doctor’s office called and explained things. Yes, I am concerned, but not sure of the rehab since they are thinking of the same place that hubby was in a year ago. I left that part of the note with xango. Suffice to say that it is the same ownership, though the staff is different. However, the physical therapy is the same and that doesn’t sit well. At least, maybe I can do some research prior to surgery to see if there are others that have close if not a 5-star rating.
Today, instead of the kitchen I worked on the driveway and walk area to the front of the house. I also worked on the red vines trying to strangle our hibiscus at the foot of our driveway. Our new landscaper will be starting either Friday or Saturday on the side of the house to get rid of the stone and to install grass. This will certainly keep the weeds from growing . Today (since it’s now after midnight), I will put a bench together for the front of the house. Actually, our entrance is on the side. Hopefully, it will be an area where we can also relax and be an area for hubby when he finds that he needs to rest before climbing the steps for entry to the house. I just have a few things left to tweak. No heavy lifting involved. Just sweeping, hosing and putting things where they belong.
So sorry to hear about the kitty. I know exactly what you are going through. I had a male cat that I befriended one wintry night when we had a blizzard. I was already in bed when I heard a cat crying outside our bathroom window. This was our home in Ct., which is a raised ranch. This cat had made his way up to our walkway that led to a deck over the garage. So, I opened the window and with one swoop he was in the house and shivering. His paws were iced cold so I ran lukewarm water into the sink bowl. Took a washcloth and wiped his paws. Then dried them and wrapped him in a towel which he loved. I had an extra quilt and decided to make a room for him in our bathroom downstairs. Those days I had my own stray cat and wasn’t sure how he would react with this one. I made a nice bed with the quilt and covered him. Brought some cat food to the area as well as a litter box (my cat never liked one, all 4 paws would go every which way to avoid it). The next day I brought him back to his home and he growled. So, I brought him back to our house until later when the homeowner was around. Found out his name was Ziggy (I called him Zigzag). Long story short this cat visited us everyday. Climbed to our roof. Kept me laughing. The last time I saw him was just before we left for Florida. He was very skinny. My cat was long gone. He fell asleep on our couch. I guess we both knew when I let him out, it would be the last time we would be together. It was sooo sad. To this day I still miss him. His adoptive parents never took good care of him. I am glad he came to us. And, yes, my cat became his best friend.
Take care of this kitty. Give him lots of pets. He has to be in some pain and the heat and humidity are not his friend. I wish there was some kind of medication that could help. Sometimes a second opinion may have different answers. Who knows.
Enjoy the moonlight. Stay safe.

Again, thank you for your note. Rehab is OK by me. It’s where they are sending him that is not sitting well with either of us. Please read my note to xango which explains everything. One thing I will mention is that if we didn’t have steps leading to the front door and landing, there would probably be no real concern. I am positive that the first 24-30 hours there will be little or no pain. But after that who knows. It’s different with everyone.
I understand the plight with your BIL. For now, he is feeling OK. That’s the main thing.

Thanks so much for your note. I know the surgeon and his assistants have my back. My only problem is that I remember the rehab that we went through last year about this time. If I had not been there every day there would have been days that he would not have been fed. I remember one weekend where he did not get a full dinner. Just two slices of white bread, not toasted, and two slices of cheese. Lunch that day was similar. Thank goodness I had the e-mail for the administrator and I let her know the circumstances. Of course this occurred the following weekend as well. This time my Lyft driver and myself used our cells to locate restaurants in the area with take-out. We found one right around the corner and I was able to order a meal for hubby and bring it to him even though visiting hours were over. He was never so happy to see me with a huge bag. I told him “bon appetit” and left. The day of discharge he wasn’t dressed. I was told not to help, it was their responsibility. Just before we went out the door I asked where his medications were. The answer we received was that the doctor had to give them, they could not. I knew better, being a pharmacist’s daughter. I mentioned we would not be home until sometime the next day. They gave me pills for the night. That was one pill out of 4. When we made it to Florida I just prayed that our pharmacy was still opened. They were and had everything ready. They even marked the bottles for evening and night. They were surprised that the rehab didn’t give me enough meds for two or three days. This rehab is also in Sarasota. It’s the only one in the area. Sorry, that is why I am in a dither and extremely concerned.
Today I worked on our entry outside and weeded one bush that was left behind. I still need to hose down the driveway and put some other items that are outside to where they belong. I will be putting a bench together to put against the house in case hubby needs a place to sit before going up the three steps to the house. This is what concerned me the most. The three steps are steep, well, two of them are and the last one is easy. However, there is another entrance through the lanai. Those stairs are easier to go up and down. No where as steep. And yes, we have chairs on the lanai that will give him time to relax. I will be getting that ready over the weekend.
Guess, like you, I have aches and pains and the jobs that took a half day now take longer. But, I need to keep moving. Yes, when the pain is unbearable I do take it easy. The one thing I want to avoid is becoming a couch potato. I had a friend who was. Guess that is why I am adamant not becoming one.
Yes, I agree on a Home Health Aide, if one is needed. Basically, I am all set except for cleaning.
Love your meal choices. I see you are watching your hubby’s diet very closely. However, the exercise will help keep those arteries from getting clogged ever again. Good luck with those doctor appointments. I expect nothing better than A+++++.No rain yesterday or today, though today the skies became real dark. Saw one streak of lightning followed by a clap of thunder. Looked up saw a magnificent rainbow (my good luck charm) and no rain. And, yes, I will be purchasing a bed rail. Following surgery I cannot take the chance of him falling and doing damage to the surgical area. The one I’m currently looking at will also help in getting in and out of bed.
Again, thank for the note and being there. Take care of yourself. Stay safe. That goes for both of you. And thank your family for the prayers. They do help.

Oodie, I agree with xango. A couple weeks in rehab is nothing when it comes to the rest of your lives. My husband was very active and fit when he had his replacement. The other leg was strong enough to help him navigate. If your husband falls or you fall trying to help him, those are steps backwards. You will be no help to him if you are hurt. Try to look ahead at the bigger picture. A friend of mine had both knees replaced at the same time because the doctor didn’t think either knee was strong enough to support the other. She was in rehab for two weeks and recovered quite nicely over two months. It will go quickly and no stress for you.
