I awoke early to get some things done and was about to take a shower only to find we had no water. I couldn’t understand why. So happy for e-mails. Seems the water in our area has been turned off due to a water main break. Being today is hubby’s birthday I wanted to be with him from morning to night. I even asked if he could take a car ride. Though no one has responded to that issue, I will hope for another day. So, here I sit, waiting for my day to get off and running.

Thank you so much for the birthday greetings for hubby. As soon as I can get to rehab I will show him the cakes and sentiments from your thread. And to think last night he wanted me to stay over……”C’est la Vie.”

Sheba, Heidi and all the Heidi Girls: Do not put your swimsuits away just yet. Summer isn’t over and won’t be for quite awhile. Seems the high temps and the humidity will continue beyond the summer days. You can enjoy the beach and those salads for many days. I just wish the days were still a bit longer. Enjoy the extra time in the sun.

I went to the Farmer’s Market and I was there for over two hours. I found dragon fruit for $2.99 ea. and stocked up. Picked up watermelon in a container for hubby and forgot to give it to him. Tomorrow is another day . I even found dinner in a container for myself. The price at the bottom was $12, but it was marked down to $5. It was pulled chicken in some kind of barbecue sauce that was excellent. The container had a whole sweet potato and broccoli. Great if you don’t want a lot of food. Returned home to put the items into the frig and freezer. Had a great time. Only mishap was I could not find my car. I must have gone up and down several aisles before I spotted it. Funny, I had looked in that aisle several times and didn’t see it. I knew where I left it. Must have been hidden by the trucks And all that time looking for the car, we had a torrential downpour. Big drops. All I could think of during the moment was Burt Bachrach and “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head.”

On the way to see hubby I saw a magnificent rainbow. It started on one end and then arched to the other. Beautiful colors of Red, Yelllow Orange and Purple. Hubby smiled when I told him. It followed me to the Rehab. I smiled all the way. What a nice surprise, especially when there was no rain in sight and there were white puffs all around and a blue sky as a back drop. I was definitely enthralled and said a thank you to whomever painted the sky so vividly. .

I love that bathroom and it is the color of ours. The tiles are exactly what I have been looking at.

It was very cloudy last night with a few rain drops. No moon. No stars. Today much of the same with temps in the 90s. Humidity is 100+%, Thunderstorms are expected. Tomorrow is a ditto.

As you know I have been waiting for the Wolfgang pots & pans. Though this is $20 more than last year, I decided to give the stainless ones a try. I did purchase some of his pans through HSN, and I must say, I was impressed. They are heavy, but not so heavy that you cannot lift with one hand. I am hoping to be as impressed with this set.

The aid I enjoy laughing with as does hubby, has been in and out for the past two weeks. He has been working in another area and thus I thought he was OK.. But, heard last night he is on sick leave. This aid is wonderful even though he leaves hubby for the last. He is good with the patients and he is on his toes when answering the buzzer. Many times he has had to change sheets since the workers on the first shift have neglected to do so. I usually help by doing the end he isn’t working on while hubby is in bed. It is not an easy task when the patient refuses to cooperate. I just hope his illness has not been misdiagnosed. He is in constant pain and something he will need to live with until medication solves the problem. He described it as more of an anxiety issue, though there are times when I have my doubts.

Well, I am off to do some errands and then will visit hubby. The refrigerator is bare. Fruit and veggies long gone. So out I go. Hope you three have a great day and then some. Stay safe. Don’t forget to take your sinus meds. I do mine at night and during the day. So far, no migraines. 😀😀

Getting ready for Aldi and visit hubby. Was not a happy camper last night when hubby complained of a headache and the nurse took over a half hour to bring a pill because she had just started her dinner. I just hope it was a sinus condition and not a stroke. When I left, he had just fallen asleep.

Today I will be bringing some clothes for hubby including PJs.. I received the fabric labels after I arrived home. I will also mention the loss PJs again. I knew there wasn’t a label in them, but did mention to the aids and nurse to leave them at the bottom of the closet so I can wash them. Not there or anywhere else in the room. I even tried to reorder them, but they seem to be permanently out of stock. I will look elsewhere.

It’s 92 degrees and the s un is out. No rain in sight. Tomorrow may be a different story. I need to do some outdoor work and then some. Hope you have a great evening. It will be nice to see t h e moon once again. I think your walks with Poppy help keep him in shape. Stay safe.

If the aid has returned to our unit, will bring the Clean Boss tomorrow to do the bed and mattress and everything else on his side of the room. Think I will include the hangers as well. I hope the itches will subside with me doing the extra work. Not much to clean. It won’t take long.

We are both OK. Hubby’s coughing has subsided. He is still scratching, but not as bad. On Sunday, I asked the RN to try an antihistamine. He had to get permission from the Head of Nursing which turned out to be OK. I just knew that the cream he used wouldn’t help. It actually made the itches worse. Within 15 minutes after downing the pill, he fell asleep. No itches. However, the RN who is now on thinks the salve is the best thing. Hmmm……. I also found a brand new pair of PJs still in plastic. Washed them and decided to try them to see if that helped. It did. The next day I went looking for them because I didn’t have a label. Seems they are lost. I have order others and they should arrive today and next week., Also ordered extra fabric labels and those will be here today as well. I still have some clothing to bring today and the rest of the closet will take home. I now realize that me doing the laundry is very helpful. However, the bedding and pillowcases I cannot bring home. So I surmise the itchiness will continue. I even bought twin sheets & pillowcases to use, but I’m stuck with the rehab ones.

Here’s something for the record books. My vehicle needed a gas fill up. I was almost down to the E and being that Sam’s Club is nearby, went there on fumes. Gas Buddy said that the charge would be $3.09/gal.. When I arrived, the amount shown was $2.89/gal.. I had to look twice to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. The pump even had that price. WOW is all I can say. Of course I did a happy dance.

Well, last night visiting hubby was a real eye opener. There were only two aids on the floor. One did one end and the other ours. That wasn’t the only problem. As I left, the nurse that is with our unit was doing double duty. So today I started looking at other facilities and on Monday I will contact the case managers from the hospitals in and around where we live. There is one facility that actually stands out and that one was recommended by one of the patient’s. This one is always full so will need help to get hubby there. It used to be a 20 minute drive, but with the highway construction, it will most likely take over two hours. If hubby is accepted, I will find the routes less traveled and shorter due to traffic constraints.

On another note, the knee is better. I can now go over 10 hours without meds and maybe longer. I now turn the A/C off entirely when I need to be at the sink in the MB.. It is definitely a cold in that area.

Temperature wise, it’s in the 90s here, but the humidity is low. No rain today as far as the forecast goes. It feels good to breathe. As far as the pollen count goes, I’m Ok thus far. I do take my meds at night and during the day. The medication my physician prescribed did some good. However, what I don’t like about prescription drugs are the side affects. Sometimes I feel that the prescripts are worse than the disease. This was one of those times.

Poppy must look real spiffy with his new hair/fur do. He probably prances around for days to show off his new look. Enjoy your afternoon and evening. You got me looking at the moon and it follows me home. I feel safe knowing that it follows my every move. Have a beautiful walk with Poppy tonight and enjoy the other fur babies when they come knocking for dinner.

I did ask one of the RNs today how the roommate was doing. As far as they can tell he made it to the hospital. Have no idea what is wrong or if he will be returning to the Rehab. I’m glad that he is in better hands and hopefully, he will either return or find another place to put him on the road to recovery. Hubby was OK. He had just received his dinner and was enjoying ever y morsel. He had a “hoodsey cup” that he ate first. This guy really loves his ice cream and I thought it was me who enjoyed it more (LOL). Have a great evening. We are supposed to have lower humidity tomorrow. Hope it’s true…….

I saw your post. I skipped writing for a few days because of a knee problem. For some reason my knee is swollen and the pain is unbearable. Not sure what is causing this, but found staying off the foot entirely was a big help. No, I didn’t trip or fall. That is why this is so confusing. The only thing I can think of is that I have a cold in the knee from the A/C vent which is near the bathroom sink. So now I turn the A/C off when I’m in that location. Thanks for missing my posts.

It is hot hot hot. Adding temp and humidity it is about 105 out there. I am getting ready to visit the Farmer’s Market to pick up something for dinner. Hubby does not like eating when I’m not. That was last night. I thought my dinner would be too tempting when all he is given is puree food. I have to admit that he is coughing less and less. I have a feeling that hubby’s roommate may have passed before being escorted to the hospital. What he described to me was the beginning of a bad heart attack. All the RN did was check the oxygen he was using, vitals, and then left the room. I did see her on a phone call that may have gone to the physician. Anyway, he kept calling for the RN because he could not breathe and I left to go and find her. Hubby wanted me to leave well enough alone, but it takes forever for anyone to answer a buzz. His roommate has a number of things wrong. I have no idea what the cause is. The nursing and aid staff are very closed lip. They took him and the entire bedding on the stretcher. That’s why I think he may have past. His spouse uses a walker and does not drive. Someone has to take her to and from the rehab. I am happy that they were together over the weekend to celebrate their 67th Anniversary. I will know more when I am at Rehab.

I will be bringing bottled water to hubby today. Just read where testing was done on the drinking water and it showed there is Covid. I think I mentioned that because of the rain we had last week that the sewage area opened up and went into our water supply. Nothing indicated to boil water or refrain using. It’s another reason to head North when possible. Not sure if we will return to Florida or look for another area. Right now I am glad we have a place we can drive to. Albeit 1350 miles one way.

Hubby is doing better. It was a few days of not eating or drinking liquids. My fault. I took two days in a row off and I surmise he was concerned. I did let the receptionist know that I was meeting with a couple of roofers and that I would be outside with the heat and humidity. Anyway, the heat got the best of me. I promised hubby that I would not be missing any more days. Yes, he still has a cough, but it has become almost non existent. Thank goodness that is getting better. I am not eating in front of him nor am I bringing any food.

Hubby has a roommate. Nice man. Met his wife the other day. They were celebrating their 67th anniversary. WOW !!!! Nice guy. We have had some nice conversations. I do not know what health issues he has. Only that he cannot walk and does have a feeding tube. He is trying to leave the Rehab for the Veteran home. However, tonight, when I arrived to see Hubby, he was so thankful. He was on oxygen and asked me to get the nurse. He could not breathe or catch his breath. I think he may have been having a heart attack. The nurse came in and took vitals and left. He asked me again to get her, which I did. He kept yelling for her and my husband told me to stay out of it,. I didn’t listen and fetched an aid who found the nurse. He was sent, finally, to the hospital. I hope he is OK, but have my doubts. The EMT’s took the bedding. His wife is a nice person and I feel for her. I have no idea if they had children. I didn’t pry. I have a feeling he didn’t make it. I hope I am wrong.

Our favorite aid has not been seen since Friday. The nurse on duty said he took a few days off. I’m not sure if that’s the case. He was due to work the weekend, Monday.and today. So many have left, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he is doing the same.

By the way, I also use an air purifier for the sinuses. Seems to help quite a bit. The one I purchased has a filter that you wash and when dried, return it to it’s rightful place. I’ve had it about a year and love it. However, nothing worked on those awful headaches until I mentioned it to t he physician. His prescript worked, Well, at least for now.

Here’s something for the record books. I went to use the desktop this morning and tried to turn it on. Nothing worked. I then shut everything down and unplugged. Nothing. Did it again and waited ten minutes or so. Nothing. The landline was working. The lamp was on. But the computer, dead. I tried everything I could think of. Nothing. Decided it was time to see hubby and off I went. Hubby was awake and his voice was almost normal, though a whisper came out once in a while. He went through some motions asking what I did and the last question was did I shut everything down before leaving. I did. Thought I would need to open the box with the new computer. Returned home, made a snack and went to the computer. It is now working as if nothing happened. Go figure.

Hubby was in good spirits. The RN thinks he has a kidney infection and tests were taken. We should have the results either tomorrow or Tuesday. I did bring Clean Boss with me along with the microfiber cloths. I didn’t use them. Hubby was in bed and the aid we love took the day off. I will try again tomorrow. If he is in we will move hubby from bed to wheelchair and send him to the TV room for about a half hour or so. The mattress will be removed and I will thoroughly scrub everything down and then do both sides of the mattress. Hopefully, his roommate will be in Physical Therapy while I do what should have been done weeks or months ago. Another aid explained that if hubby has an infection I should bring it up to the Administrator which I will gladly do. She mentioned that some of the aids do not cleanse the patients in between the showers, nor leave the tray near the person’s bedside with water and juice nearby. This is exactly what I felt happened. Consequently, I wasn’t there last week for two days while meeting with potential roofers. Needless to say, I will not take any more days off.

Today I started to take his clothes home to wash and dry. The itchiness could be from the soap and hot temps in both the washer and dryer. However, he may still get the itches from the linens. But, not keeping hubby clean is inexcusable. His showers will now be in the afternoon or sometime after dinner. There is no mattress cover. Not sure what the fabric is on the mattress. Looks like vinyl, but could be a form of vinyl and polyester which might be the reason hubby has the itches. This is the one time where the head nurse/unit mgr would get a phone call. Too bad they let him quit. Oh well. He is working again. For the first time in years, he and his family were able to enjoy a real vacation. Kids go back to school tomorrow. Because of hurricane season, it may be earlier next year.

Was hot leaving the Rehab. However, the humidity was not as heavy. Guess you have to be thankful for some things. Have a doctor appointment either tomorrow or Tuesday. I will contact them in the AM. I wrote it down since it was over the phone. Cannot find the paper with the note. It’s been one of those weeks.

I arrived home a few minutes ago. It was a long day since I left early afternoon. No shopping. When I arrived hubby had his eyes closed and I thought he was sleeping. But then he heard my voice and he smiled. I think this is what happened. I didn’t go to the Rehab for a few days and it must have really made him concerned. He never thought of asking the nurses to contact me to see why and what for. If he had he would have known that being outside those two days drove me to bed and then a shower. The heat and the humidity really got to me even though I was highly hydrated. The sweat was coming from my eyes and the entire body. I had made lemonade and it was in the frig and I poured a full glass and went to the bedroom. When I started to feel better, it was too late to drive to Rehab. Anyway, on the days I didn’t show, I don’t think hubby ate anything. The only liquid he drank was to take meds. So, the episode I saw yesterday was the result of not only being dehydrated, but low in sugar. Today he ate a little bit. The Rehab purees everything because he starts coughing. They say it is due to a narrow esophagus and the muscles are not working as they should. I order Asian takeout, and I was told that I could ‘not and should not give him any food. I did give him a little of the house lo mein. What I ordered was soft. However, I will admit that the food was not that good and I doubt I will be ordering from this restaurant anytime soon. Then when the Aids were changing the linens and he was naked as well, they noticed a reddish purple thing on his back. It finally dawned on me that the itches were really bothering him and he was using the back scratcher. Guess he was scratching too hard and thus the outcome. I took the back scratcher home, but will leave it in the bag I use so if he needs it I have it. He really could have used a nice lukewarm shower this evening and a good leg and back scrub. I think he is allergic to t he soap that the Rehab uses. I also need to use Clean Boss on the bed and mattress. However, his roommate is on oxygen and I feel that the Clean Boss may hinder his breathing especially if there is a slight order. OMG I just heard thunder. Will write tomorrow..

I decided not to shop today and may not tomorrow. Hubby was sound asleep when I arrived which is not like him. I became very concerned around dinner time when he refused to eat or look at the food. I waited a few minutes and tried to feed him. He took a few morsels and fell asleep. I was gone two days and now wonder if he ate during the time I wasn’t there. From what I heard from the NA, he found his tray against the wall. Hubby had no way to get water or any type of drink. I was concerned that maybe he had a stroke. There was no mention of this in any of the notes from the nurses station. So, the nurse who was on duty took vitals and everything was normal including the sugar. Later he tried for an urine sample with no luck. Even with the catheter, nothing came out. I gave them the name of the urologist and said to make a phone call. I believe he will need something for dehydration. I will not miss one day from t his time on. The roof can wait. Though I have shopping to do, I hope to get up early AM and head to the rehab. The Head Nurse from another area happened to come in to check on hubby and she started to feed him. She actually spoon fed him and he ate. Did not take too much liquid, but did have the soup and strawberry ice cream. He eventually came around and then went back to sleep. I just pray he will be OK.
