On the way home last night it was touch and go. There were tons of puddles on the road and in some cases flooding. The road has very little in lighting and in most cases one is hoping for a passing vehicle. This was not the case last night. I must have gone through some things that could not be seen because when I arrived home every warning light was on in my dashboard. I decided to wait until this afternoon to check it out. When I did there were only two which gave me a notice that two tires were low on air. Since I could not see the road that well, could have gone over some glass or other objects without noticing. The tires are brand new, less than 6 mos. old so will bring the car to the dealer tomorrow. Luckily, the ride is less than 3 miles away. No, I didn’t see hubs today. Did not wish to chance it.
The rain here has been on and off. Early morning the heavens opened up to a huge thunderstorm. Woke me out of a sound sleep. Thought there was a war going on until I saw the lightning. The plants seem to be perking up. Good news thus far is that there are no hurricanes in the picture. Hoping this will be a year without one.
While having the tires checked will also ask to make sure that the brakes are OK. Might as well have that looked at to rest my mind. From there will drive to be with hubby. I am trying to see if there is someway that he can join me in looking at tile for the bathroom. It would be easier to do it that way than to bring many samples to the Rehab. Oh yes, there was a meeting this afternoon. I called in to say I could not be there and asked the social worker to look into getting hubby some decent meals. I also let it be known that he is not getting enough food. When looking at the pureed food on his plate, there is less than a quarter of a cup in totality. He also does not receive snacks though one aide does keep an eye out for something soft and palatable. The others could care less. When he is able to return home I will be looking at other places for physical therapies. The one that is the next town over is a good possibility. The one I really want is 20 miles North which puts it between St.Pete. and Tampa. May be too far to travel on a daily basis, but it is a 5+ star and worth questioning.
Hope you three have a great evening and enjoy the walk under the stars and in the beauty of the moon.

I read your post from last night. Bug spray and disinfectant will probably kill the bugs that are flying. However, they do have nests within walls or should I say wherever there is wood. Check your hone for something that looks like sawdust. This will show you where they are living and breeding. Sometimes the tenting preparation leads to some leaving the area and looking for somewhere to nest. Could be your place or someone else’s nearby. Do thorough searches around baseboards, vents, bathroom, even closets and cabinets. We see this quite often in Florida. Best advice is to contact an exterminator just to check to make sure that none are living anywhere in your home.

It was quite a day. First stop was to pick up meds which took more than a half hour. There were three cars ahead of me. Each taking a long time from start to finish. While waiting, the dark clouds started to roll in. There was lightning in the distance. Today’s forecast called for light rain. I guess mother nature had other ideas. When I finally arrived at the window, the clerk could not understand what I was saying. She sent a piece of paper out and I needed to write what I needed along with the answers to her questions. Then it took her another fifteen minutes to find the prescripts. What ever happened to delivery service???? By the time I was able to drive away the rain came down in torrents. You could not see the cars in front of you. The rain followed me to the rehab. When I arrived hubby was in the TV room. The place was cold. Would have been nice if they had hot tea/coffee for the patients. Wishful thinking on my part.
I showed hubby some of the pictures from Home Depot for flooring. He asked if there was a way for him to join me at the store. The van at the Rehab is mainly used for doctor appointments. I will be checking online to see if there are any services to this. It would certainly make my life a bit easier.
We sort of celebrated his birthday. I purchased a book, “Musicals for Dummies. Author is Seth Rudetsky. There was no fanfare from the Rehab. There are many patients that have been there longer than my hubby and it would have been nice if there was some sort of acknowledgement. It could have been a homemade card, or just something from the kitchen. Today was just like any other. I also started showing hubby your birthday wishes. He was enthralled. He had just started to go through the many wishes when the aide arrived to bring him back to his room. I told him not to worry. We will look at the cards tomorrow. Sheba, I need to say that you are the most thoughtful person. Even when you do not know someone personally, you are there for them. I thank you for everything you have done for hubby and me as well. You have brought the sunshine and the sunflowers along with the kitties and Poppy. The smiles on our darkest days are a delight.
I have a feeling that this rain we are witnessing may lead to something else. Another inch or more expected tomorrow. The plants are happy. Just have a funny feeling. I hope I am wrong. The temps are something else. No 90s. Temps during the day are in the low 80s. Nighttime low to mid 70s. I am loving it. I surmise we will be hitting the 90s by the weekend. At least we had a little bit of a taste for fall.

I didn’t see hubby yesterday nor did I work on the house. I needed a cool down period so I would not fly off the handle in front of hubby or elsewhere. Instead I worked a jigsaw on Kindle, played a few games in the Arcade and did some reading. All this just to have a few moments of peace.
The food that hubby enjoyed came from the kitchen. I have no idea if the slip with the food had his name. I assumed that all my calling and talking came to fruition. It was a memorable time and I stayed longer than I should have to make sure there were no coughing spells or trips to the hospital. I am now getting ready to jump into a shower, dress and drive to see hubby. Not sure what the outcome will be when I get there. If I am not permitted to visit, then there will be repercussions that the rehab facility will need to face. The new head to the Unit who is also an RN thinks I am trying to kill my husband. What they do not understand is that I watch what hubby eats and know farewell that he can tolerate foods that are soft. I also note that the food on his plate is not enough to sustain him from one meal to another. The RN on duty says that all cookies should be pureed. Did you ever try eating sandpaper????LOL

All the prayers for your SIL have certainly helped her progress. Ringing the bell is so good to hear after all the hard work by her, the surgeons, hospital staff and family. I hope and pray she stays cancer free to enjoy the good life and to watch her children grow into adulthood and to eventually marry and have children of their own. What a blessing. L’Chaim. To Life.

I am doing a happy dance. It is raining. Not a sprinkle this time. Real rain is coming down without lightning and thunder. First time in months to see heavy rain. The plants are loving it.
Last night’s dinner may have been a fluke. But it was worth watching hubby having a decent meal in months. The smiles, the glittering eyes said it all. However, after last night I may not be able to set my foot in the door I have already been told no frozen custard from culver’s. Glad my hearing is not what it used to be. LOL.

I left hubby about 8:30 pm and drove during a light show with loud bangs and rain. Streaks of lightning went diagonal and a few vertical. I arrived home in one piece. A/C and computer were off.
Hubby had an exceptional dinner tonight. Yes he had pureed food and an orange ice cream or could have been sherbert. He had the dessert first. He had finished the pureed food when the aide arrived with a second helping. This food was not pureed. It had chunks of meat in a barbecue sauce, sweet potato, one slice of white bread and cole slaw. He was like a young kid in a candy store. I told him not to eat the cole slaw. I did sliced the meat into bite size pieces. He put the sliced sweet potato onto a fork and took small bites. I actually stayed long enough to make sure that he did not have a coughing fit. The aide brought him a soft cookie for a treat. The RN on duty was mad and furious with me. Said I cannot bring any food even ice cream or frozen custard. And here we go again. Today was a good treat and it wasn’t from me. Someone made a mistake and the one to blame is the person or persons in the kitchen. The second helping from what I understand had is name on top of the meal. I hope this proves a point. On the other hand I will probably be blamed and the puree will go on. It was so nice to see his smile. That meant everything to me. On Monday I intend to be with him before lunch and the entire day.
)After reading what your children did for your birthday. I decided on doing something similar. Hubby and I enjoyed going into NYC for a day or to spend a few days shopping and doing whatever. We sometimes would make a beeline to Times Square to purchase Broadway tickets either for a matinee or an evening performance. So the book you mentioned made perfect sense. I hope you don’t mind. For his birthday on the 25th, I will be bringing our CD/DVD player with some CDs along with his favorite musical and DVD, “West Side Story.”
The ankle isn’t 100%, but is doable. The pain is a dull roar. I can now walk without a limp. I also contacted our electrician. We have an appointment next month for the A/C maintenance. At the same time they will change the lightbulbs in the ceiling and the ones outside. So afraid of heights. However, if there is something I can reach in case of slipping, will use the step ladder thing. Ceiling things, nothing to grab.

Didn’t see hubby today. Instead tried to make a small dent in what needs to be done prior to the renovation. The company I’m using does a total renovation if needed. They will be redoing our subfloors throughout the house and will lay the new vinyl flooring (when I find the one we both like). The one stipulation is that it must be completely waterproofed. What I found thus far is that not all materials in vinyl meet those recommendations.
Last night I did look at tile online and found several at Home Depot. I will make a trip after hubby’s birthday. I did see other ideas for the shower and I chose another look. Now, I need a picture so the room doesn’t look too busy. Thank goodness I have a color scheme in mind.
The ankle feels better and the swelling has gone down. Three weeks. I remember our friend, (may she rip), mentioning getting bitten by a spider and the pain lasted weeks and weeks. I went out and bought a spray and used it in every room. I will do it again next month.
I am returning to do this and that. Have a great evening and enjoy the walk in the moonlight. It is cloudy here. Rain is expected in a few hours and it will be off and on through the weekend. Temps have been in the 90s and the humidity 90% as well. It was very humid here all day. As I mentioned yesterday, A/C never felt so good.

I am relaxing at the moment. Did not see hubby today. Instead went to the Farmer’s Market for the last day of their weekly sale. I was shocked to see they still had cherries and of course I took a package along with stone plums. They had a sale on stew beef and, well, I didn’t purchase any. They must have been trying to clean their case out. All I noticed were heaps of stew beef packed in huge containers. I just didn’t want to bother putting them into freezer packs for several meals. Besides, I do not eat that much beef. I also went late thinking that the humidity would be down as well as the temps. No such thing. By the time I returned home I was completely wiped out. Brought the groceries in and then rested. A.C never felt so good.
Tomorrow is garbage and recycle. The recycle bin is filled but may find some room for one or two more boxes. I now need to go out and pick out the flooring. Did some window shopping using the computer and it looks like Home Depot has several things. I will take a ride and see if they look as good as the pictures. If so, will bring some samples to hubby. I am trying to find a service that would bring him to some of the shopping areas and then pick him up when we are done. If there is such a service, it will certainly help when he is home.
I am bushed. So goodnight to you three. Have a wonderful evening.

I thought Sam’s Club was no longer North. They closed the warehouses in Ct., R.I. and Ma.. I never tried their hotdog, but placed an order for their Meat pizza which I had delivered. It’s good, not great. Better when reheated the next day for breakfast. LOL Also try their ribs that are made on the premises. It’s next to their take out chicken. It’s really good.

I finally went to bed around 3 am and awoke at 7am. Started some cleanup around the front door and started the recycleing for Thursday. The humidity started to climb and the sun became stronger and I went inside. At least the outside is beginning to show some promise. I then cleaned the bathroom and the decorator came to do the measurements. The closets will not be touched. The room will be completely demolished and will be enlarged by width, though that can change. If so, unpacking the two closets will not be a problem. There will be enough people on hand to help me with that project. The decorator was working with the supervisors and other people in charge and during this time we changed the tile. A picture was sent and I must admit I liked it. It actually looks like marble and will go with any color. Flooring is next and not sure at this point what I will pick. They are suggesting tile, but I may go with something else. I want something that will not be slippery. Guess I will venture to Lowes to get an idea or two. What I assumed would be about 15 minutes actually took two hours.
Saw hubby and his face was thinner. Not happy. I will try to meet with their so called social workers tomorrow to see about ordering additional food. I know they want him at a certain weight to help him stand on that one good leg. Hubby also feels that the leg brace on the other leg is helpful. At least his hands weren’t shaky which means he didn’t skip a meal.
The back is a problem and t hat is due to the humidity and the storms in the afternoon and early evening. I am doing my best under the circumstances. Definitely, no heavy lifting. Hope you three are having a great evening. Enjoy the moonlight.

I am fine. Trying to get some semblance of order since the men will be here for the final measurements in the AM. Part of the problem has been my back working against me. Seems when the humidity is low there is no problem. The last couple of days have been difficult. Today I finally was able to do some work. At least they can walk through the front door without hitting a myriad of boxes. Tomorrow is garbage pickup. I have one bag full and another on it’s way. I also need to move a couple of new outdoor rugs away from the front steps. I am still questioning the heat on the aluminum railings. I am also looking at carts for mobility. Hubby still thinks he will be able to stand on the good leg and to use the other as well with the aid of a leg brace. It’s a possibility, though there are some doubts. He has been referring to “Guys and Dolls” The horse right here is Paul Revere, CAN DO. CAN DO. ” He is yet to be wrong. So, maybe, maybe.
I will be looking at a new bed for me since the Queen will be too big for one person. I am looking at Twin XL and a full size. The hospital bed looks like a full size. The sheets barely fit We are only talking about 4 or 5 inch difference in width. I will take a measurement just to be sure. The nightstands are too big and besides if hubby falls out of bed, a smaller one would save his forehead and head. I will be child proofing the corners just to be on the safe side. The chest of drawers we both share. There are three drawers on each side. I did my side and during the week I will do hubs. I am also contemplating a low boy in lieu of a nightstand. It would fit nicely in the corner and would be away from the bed.
Still need to go to Costco. Hopping to do that either tomorrow or Tuesday. The ad ends on hubby’s birthday. The new ad comes out the next day.
I already took a longer break than I intended. I just wanted to let you know that I am OK. Did not visit hubby yesterday or today. Wish he was here.

Exactly what I saw. It is etched in my memory forever. It was so mesmerizing that I actually stood dumfounded and could not wait to tell hubby. Your picture depicted the essence of what I saw.

Like you, today was recycle and garbage. Still have items that will go for recycle next week. I held off since there is still loads of room in that bin. W
We need rain, and though the forecast is for some, none have arrived. I did purchase a sprinkler that is tiny and will do a plant separately. During a drought, this comes in handy so that the neighbors won’t complain. We usually can only water on Fridays. Not good.
Yesterday I purchased strawberry ice cream for hubby. Yes, fresh strawberries in ice cream that were pureed. To think I cannot touch it or taste a sample without a reaction. Also found strawberry applesauce. Up until this week he was able to eat some cookies that the aide had on hand. Now it is a no no and needs to be pureed. Still have not heard from the physician and will be making another phone call.
I received the monkey pendant with necklace. It is so cute. I wore it when I saw hubby a few days ago. He loved it and this brings another cute story. In one of the towns about eleven miles South of us on the Atlantic, had a small zoo. In one of the cages were three orangutans. All three were leaning against the bars. We were separated by some bushes and a walkway. Hubby decided to put on his act imitating Nixon. He started it by saying “My Fellow Americans.” Then he went into his act. He cas still do a great imitation of Nixon. When he finished, those three orangutans applauded. Hubby bowed and so did they. It made our day and hopefully there’s as well. That zoo is no longer around. The animals were sent to other areas where they can roam free after tons of remarks made by the public about housing conditions.

I just returned and letting the feet rest for a few minutes. I went to Aldi’s and found some items for snacks that hubby will enjoy. The ad from the Farmer’s Market beckoned me, but they have very little in items that hubby can have unless I puree them. I found everything I needed at Aldi’s and then some. My freezer is now full. On my way out I glanced at the sky which was remarkable. The clouds were in oranges, yellows and white and shaped like a fish. I just stopped and paused at the sight. If that was enough, when I glanced towards my left there was a rainbow in all it’s glorious colors. So bright. Though it was only half, it was soooo gorgeous and I just stood and thanked the one above for this magnificent painting. I was absolutely mesmerized by the sight. And, by the time I reached the house, the rainbow, though dimmer, was still there. What a sight.
Have a wonderful evening.
