    @sheba2011

    I stayed in today. Decided to take it easy after feeling miserable for a couple of days. The A/C Tech will be here tomorrow morning for the 6 month checkup. Since I am afraid of heights, he will change the outdoor lightbulbs and ones for the ceiling in the hallway. All others are good. Also will check the fire alarm as well as air. I have a feeling that we may need more up-to-date ones.

    I contacted the social worker at the Rehab yesterday. He said that he cannot request more food for hubby. That is up to the RN. I also inquired about snacks. Again he said that was up to the RN though hubby could request them. Meanwhile I find him with shaky hands. I hope I can get to the rehab tomorrow after the tech leaves. I have not heard from the remodelers. Will make another call in the AM.. Oh hum….so what else is new????

    This is one of the reasons why I miss New England. I love lobster. I do not use the butter or the lemon. I love the taste of fresh seafood that has it’s own sweetness if you eat it while it is still fresh.

    I’m laughing at your last remark. It reminds me of Mark Twain when he said “if you don’t like New England weather, just wait a minute.” It’s raining buckets here. I’m just thankful it is not a hurricane. We need a nice, gentle rain.

    I awoke with chills, headache and a mild sore throat. Not sure if it’s sinus, cold or the beginnings of something else. I will be staying away from the rehab and maybe that’s a good thing. The routes I use do get flooded and when the nights come along, it is hard to see puddles, or a mini flood in the road. There are no street lights. Children are also out riding their bikes in dark clothes with no headlights or pedal lights. I surmise that the parent doesn’t check on their children before venturing out when it is dark. Oops, excuse me. That goes for the grown up as well. Just remembered after visiting hubby on Saturday that a person was wearing a dark shirt with dark shorts. If his legs weren’t showing I could have hit him. He was in the road, walking.

    @ibbaddict. What Ohio stated is not about changing the channel. It’s about being honest in the presentation. That'[s why we now have a heart for favorites. If the price isn’t right, or it’s about to sell out, we can put the item into Favorites and hope either the vendor adds more or the customer returned it. Saying the price will return to the HSN price at midnight is not always true. Most customers do recall the sale price. Most will vent on a sale item that has gone up in price as a clearance. If the host has lied about the price at midnight or it’s about to sell out and you find out the next day that there are still many left and the price is the same I begin to wonder what else she/he has lied about. This is not the way HSN used to be.

    @sheba2011

    Yesterday’s weather left a lot to be desired. It was hot and the UV index was high. I made a dash to Costco. I normally do not make this trip on a weekend, but my Benadryl had an expiration date and I needed that and a few other things. Parking was minimum. I found a spot equivalent to two blocks away. Going from car to the entrance was not an easy task. I think I spent an hour at the warehouse and bought not only the meds, but some other items as well. I picked up their shrimp salad and the Cervice with shrimp. Also their vegetable container that included an Apple Cider Vinegar Vinaigrette (which I will save for hubby).. The warehouse was also on the warm side. I thought of stopping at the food court for a soda, then decided to wait until I got to the Rehab. I had purchased some items for the Nurse’s station as well as for the receptionist. Walking back to the car in the heat and humidity took it’s toll. I thought I had water, and must have left it by the front door. I knew I was in trouble by the time I made it to the parking lot which was 5 miles from Costco. Thankfully, there was water at the nurse’s station. I also had two bottles in hubby’s room. The water at the nurse’s station did not agree with me. It was from the tap with ice. The tap water has tons of chemicals from factories and other things thrown in. This is why I purchase bottled ones. Hubby was really concerned when he saw me. He moved over and wanted me to join him in bed. That is a definite NO NO. His wheelchair served as a seat since the room has no chairs for visitors. I bought a package of Tiramisu from Costco and gave one glass to hubby and I had one for myself. I left after 8:30 pm. I had a sandwich in the frig that I made earlier and had that for dinner. Then I couldn’t keep my eyes opened. I didn’t see hubs today. Spent the day drinking the Smart Water. Feel much better. Energy level is back. This taught me a hard lesson.

    Sunshine, for over 5 days I was not able to sign in. When everything I tried on my own didn’t work, I contacted CS.. I contacted them starting about 3 pm. They were there each of the days I made contacted. All after 3 pm. The last contact was Friday late afternoon.

    I finally made it to Costco. I was surprised at some of the prices going up $1 0r more. Guess it may be do to the tariffs. Forgot to check on the price of gas, but as it turned out, I didn’t fill up. Costco is about 5 miles West of the Rehab, so hurried to see hubby.

    Hubby looked good. I was visiting with the receptionist and missed out on hubby’s dinner. I brought her some shrimp salad from Costco. She puts in a 10 hour day and by the time she leaves, she is too tired to shop for food. This should help through the weekend.

    This will be a short hello. I am so tired and looking forward to putting the feet up and doing some
    jigsaw puzzles on Kindle. I will say goodnight and hope you feel better. It could still be a form of a sinus infection since we are heading into the fall season. Take care and enjoy the moonlight.

    @sheba2011

    I wasn’t able to sign in for three days. Kept hitting the sign in button and followed the advice of CS and nothing happened until now. You three had not only a wonderful Labor Day weekend but a surprise from Colorado as well. Maybe not doing this page for a few days gave you an opportunity to be with family . That may have turned out to be a good thing.

    Not sure if the renovation is happening. I think the last thing I mentioned was that the measurer was here and with the help of whomever was on the other end of his cell, the work was accomplished. This person also showed me a picture of a tile that was beautiful. However, it is a marbleized picture with gray going through it. Not exactly my beach theme, but on the right track. Then I received a call from a contractor stating he would be here in two weeks and that he cannot do a glass partition. Going into a closet area is not feasible because of the thermostat. When I mentioned to get in touch with the company I am doing business with, he had no idea who they were. I cancelled his coming immediately. Thus phone calls started last week which also included emails calls. No answer. Finally, I got a bit nasty and received a phone call yesterday. I explained the situation with a shower curtain and they agreed. He also mentioned coming to our home with other samples. Meanwhile, next week the people who service our air conditioner are also licensed electricians. I contacted the office on another matter, like installing lightbulbs outside and in our hallway ceiling fixture. I am deathly afraid of heights where there is nothing to hold on to. Consequently, I am looking at ladders with railings that may help in this situation. I also did some homework on getting hubby from home to a retail store. Very interesting. Seems that food delivery people may also be equipped with handicapped vans. This is something I will be looking into. They also will take me as a passenger. That will help. T will be able to take my freezer totes into the Farmer’s Market. What fun for hubby…..😂😂😂. At this point, I’m not sure if this is done in every State.

    Yes, I am concerned with the Governor of Florida doing away with necessary vaccines for children. When I was about two years old I contacted measles. Only problem, it took many days before the physician knew I had them. From what my mom told me is that he stayed in the apartment with me for days on end until the rash appeared. I was near death several times. Temp was up there. Then many years later there was the polio crisis. Many of my friends had it, some past away as well. Then came a vaccine and everything subsided. You hear the same with Smallpox. What about Covid?? If vaccines become a thing of the past, then I may be looking at a different State. I wonder what other people might think about coming here for a week or two or longer during the winter. Enough said. Scary what the world is coming to.

    @sheba2011

    I am staying in again today. I need to get some things done since I was out for quite a while yesterday. The car is doing good. However, tomorrow, water will be shut off most of the day starting between 8 and 9 am. I have a hair thing scheduled for tomorrow as well, so will get things done now and then will not mind leaving hubby at sunset.

    Had a call a few minutes ago from the contractor for the bathroom. Seems they will be here in a couple of weeks. I need to put the carport together so they can do the ramp. I will try to accomplish that feat over the weekend. Hope the humidity will be low, though rain is expected starting tomorrow through Tuesday. Guess I should contact triple next week to get the van in order so it can be moved during the construction process. It has a dead battery and also low on gas.

    Hubby definitely will understand about the car. He would probably want to be with me. I need to find a way to get him in and out of a vehicle and the same for a bed. I know we will have help in the beginning. I am hoping that whomever we choose to continue physical therapy will get him to stand on one leg or even better, use both. I also will need to look at a twin bed for fme and a new mattress and box spring. Debating on a new dresser and night stands. Night stands are too large and will be too close to the bed if hubby should tumble. Guss I better get moving. LOL

    @shoelady60

    Thank you for the advice. I do bring my Kindle Fire on a daily basis and have used it to look at some tile from both Home Depot and Lowes. The pictures look good. Only problem hubby likes to feel the tile and to check the texture. Same goes for furniture. Me, I can tell from a picture. However when it comes tp a sofa I do need to visit the store to make sure that it is not too cooshie (sp) and that people can sit and stand without a problem. I hate when you sit in a chair or a sofa that you feel like you are close to the floor.

    @taci

    Glad you were able to see the dentist today and have something ready and waiting. Hubby had all his upper teeth removed over 10 years ago. The uppers are all implants and have to say you would never guess. He was fortunate that the bone structure was intact. My only disappointment is that he did not make it permanent. At the time it was an additional $6,000. Overall look is great. Looks like his regular teeth.

    The swarm you saw a few days ago were the termites looking for a nesting place. This is something I dread in Florida along with the Palmetto bugs. I did have an exterminator that came every three to four months to spray inside and outside. However, I had to stop it when we had the mice problem and everything was boxed. There was no way he could spray with the boxes lined up. The kitchen is still boxed, but at least there is some semblance of order. The cabinets look good, at least the ones I have cleaned thoroughly. I can finally see some counter space. I purchased an Origami 5 shelf cart from HSN .with wheels. The top for small appliances. The pull out bins for dry goods that I use often. Right now, with all the rain we have had, I just pray we won’t have problems with termites. Our tenting in Florida means we stay away for three or four days. When we return, everything will need to be rewashed and that includes everything (clothing, linens, kitchen cabinets, etc.etc..)

    @sheba2011

    I spent the afternoon with people servicing my auto. Driving home in the rain with no street lights was difficult. Could not see the water in the road until I was in it. Consequently, when I arrived home there were many red lights on the dashboard including two warnings. I surmised one of the warnings was for the brakes. Another was for the tires on the passenger’s side. I decided to wait unit the next day to check the manual. One was definitely for the brakes and that one was no longer registering. contacted the service people on line and chatted. My appointment was for this afternoon. They did a complete check using computers and everything turned out to be OK.. It actually took a few hours. I ran home and decided to make something for dinner and also decided to take it easy. I will see hubby tomorrow. I did phone the receptionist and told her I would probably not make it today and explained the situation. From where she was sitting she was able to spot the nurse and will give her the info. I also mentioned to explain everything to hubby. He knows where we go for servicing. This entire situation was caused by the rain and of course the street flooding. I try leaving while it is still light out. This time I wasn’t so lucky. I am also looking at a different route. It may be longer, but it will be safer and I will have street lights. Light rain is now in the forecast for the next couple of days. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be torrential rain. I have not seen Florida this wet since I’ve been here through the summers. Though the temps are in the low to mid 80s, the humidity makes it feel like 98+. I need a Costco fix. Guess I will make a stop tomorrow and pick up something for the nurse’s station at the same time. Finally, I can now breathe a sigh of relief.
