I really think you and your family would enjoy the Cape. Our home is just off the bike path with conservation land. The Cape is notorious for keeping areas for the many animals that frequent the area. However, I forgot to mention that the bike path leads to some lakes in the area. So if you like to make a stop, definitely bring bathing attire.

What I actually enjoy is taking the car and seeing the various towns. Plenty of free parking, so you can venture on and off the roads. My favorite area is Chatham. Beautiful scenery, friendly people and many stores to browse in and around. Loads of mom and pop stores. Artists abound. Sandwich is another delight. I’m sure you have heard of Sandwich glass. The factory is here and so is the museum. Maybe someday you will add this area to your travels.

Couldn’t get my act together until later in the afternoon. Made a stop at Costco for gas. On route the sky was loaded with cumulus clouds that looked like pile on marshmallows. These clouds were massive. Also there was a shelf in tan color which I surmise was from the sand off the African coast. This is one of the many reasons we have seen no hurricanes. However, things are starting to heat up and as you know I am watching the tropics.

After making my car happy and driving away from Costco, noticed a gorgeous rainbow. Not as vivid as the one from Aldi’s, but pretty just the same. We had no rain, so that beauty must have come from the moisture within the clouds. Hmm…..I wonder if this means no hurricanes in our future. Wishful thinking on my part.

The temp today was in the low 90s. Humid, but not as bas as June through August. Fall is in the air here and I hope the cooler temps will begin to emerge. We have been told that we will have a cold winter. I say bring it on. Wouldn’t it be nice to see snow in Florida….😃😃😃😃

I don’t recall if I told you the story of our blizzard on the Cape. If not, or just in case I didn’t, here goes. We had a huge snowstorm a few years ago. I think they said it was over 20″ of white with drifts. It didn’t look bad from the windows overlooking the front yard. However, in those days we were driving a cargo van, white in color. For some reason we also had my vehicle. Hubby had parked the van across the street and my car was in the driveway. We opened the garage door and it didn’t look bad. My car seemed to be OK. The hood of the car was seen and so I thought I would just brush the snow off the backside. Well, as I approached the driver’s side door I hit an area of over waist deep snow. No way was I able to get the snow off. The van was lost in the sea of snow. Hubby tried to walk out, but the snow was too deep. When the snowplows came we had to go out to explain where the van was. They were extremely careful and were able to remove the snow surrounding it. This storm came just before we left for Florida.

Hope your day goes well. Enjoy the sunshine and your walk with Poppy. Yeh, I fell asleep. Went to take something for leg pain and fell asleep in bed. I am about to return to that comfort.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. The Breakfast with Heidi sold out????? They are showing two of these necklaces. The first one is still active and you can purchase. The other says “sold out.” However, I went to the one above and put it into my basket and then went on to the order area. You can still purchase the necklace. It’s crazy. Whomever is doing tech support needs to make a correction.

Hi. I finally saw hubs today. Dinner was pureed of course, but more food on his plate. I hope I will be able to see him every day. This coughing spell is sinus related. However, the new covid starts with a raspy voice and then leads into coughing. I know the nurses would think I was coming down with something and would ask me to go home. Today, my first normal day in weeks and that is probably due to the fact that I wasn’t outside. Tomorrow, definitely will be going to Costco.
Water is the primary reason. The drinking water in our town is filled with all kinds of chemicals from factories, pesticides, etc.. Besides, I do not care for the taste.

We have not seen our favorite aide in months. Not sure at this point if he is still employed with the rehab. No one seems to have answers. He was the best worker and loved to joke with hubs.

You would really enjoy Cape Cod. Rte. 6A goes through the back roads of the Cape. Much to see and do. The end result would be Provincetown. Our home on Cape is just off the bike path. I sometimes use it to walk to have my hair done, and stop at Marshall’s. I also used it from time to time to go to the Recycle area. No, not garbage or whatever. This was actually a place that in the winter is used by the Highway Department for sanding the streets. From April to the middle of October it was used for donations. Everything was free and consisted of clothing, books, CDs, vinyl records, small furniture and appliances, dishes and glassware, toys, stereos, etc.. Items were donated and the public would arrive to grab anything. Everything was free. Even art work and framed watercolors and oils. Hubby and I volunteered our services and it was one of our many highlights. The sight is no longer being used however, Brewster has one and I think Yarmouth as well. The bike path goes for miles and miles and is one of the free trails that many tourists use. The scenery is magnificent and there are many stops for relaxation and just for browsing.

We used to enjoy going to the beaches. However, with parking at a minimum and going from 9am-7pm, it leaves little time for the beach. We are not sticker prone. Both of us think the price of a sticker so you can park near the beach is ridiculous. It is even more discerning if you are vacationing for a few days or more. I surmise that the hotels have a pass or something that one can use.

Microsoft has been showing bits and pieces of Cape Cod in their news area. I enjoy the drive along Rte. 28, especially when we are close to the National Seashore. There you are, high above the sand and the Atlantic looking down. We had friends in Wellfleet and would join them on weekends. There is an outdoor movie theater that is still used today. However, the four of us liked this area for the huge flea market during the day and then picking up our lobster dinner for our evening meal.

Best part of the Cape is not getting lost. Most roads either lead you to Rte. 6A or to Rte. 28, the two main roads on the Cape. Yes, there is bus service and also a ferry from Boston Harbor to Provincetown and a Railroad that used to go just to Bourne, but may go further. The Cape also has an airport in Barnstable. During the summer Jet Blue goes from NY to the Cape. There are others that fly out of Boston. The airport also has car rentals. You can also fly into Rhode Island and rent a vehicle. The Cape is only an hour and a half away, though Rhode Island has some pretty good spots as well.

Here’s one for the record books. I wanted to start cleaning the carport this morning. The hose was connected to the spigot. However, I have a small hose attached to a hose that is in a container. Little did I know that one end is a male and the other end female. It took me hours to figure that one out and went on line to see who had what I needed. Finally found it on Amazon and it will be here tomorrow. What I needed was one end which is a male and is attached to the spigot. However, the other end is female and does not fit the extension. I ordered a male to male and it should suit the purpose. This is one time having hubby home would have saved the wear and tear. Looks like Tuesday will be the beginnings of the carport. Cannot wait to see how the new rug looks.

I had a real bad coughing fit this afternoon and will not be seeing hubby. This is sinus related, but the nurses will probably say it’s the beginning of Covid. Rather than take their rage, I will stay home and get some more things done. I contacted reception and I will try again tomorrow. However, Costco has a great price on gas and will probably make a stop on the way to rehab. I enjoy their shrimp salads. At the moment I have a yen for lobster. On the way to the Cape there is a market that we usually make a stop. It’s called Market Basket and their homemade food items are wonderful. However, their fish area is all freshly caught and the taste is as sweet as honey. They usually have a sale on lobsters and they do steam them at no extra cost. Also fresh cranberries are now in season. There are a couple of cranberry bogs on route that you can see from the Cape Highway. We always purchase these fresh. Only the package ones in Florida. Not the same.

The one thing I dread on Cape is the ride over the bridges. Doesn’t matter which one you take. They both have traffic up to the “yin yang.” This is the main reason why we take our time and never go on a weekend. We do the same when leaving. The Cape Road from the bridges is Rte. 6. It is only two lanes on either side. Thus the traffic jam. It is a scenic road and I venture to guess that they cannot make it wider due to conservation land. After our exit for the Cape House the lanes become single on both sides. If you leave on a Friday, no problem. If you leave between Saturday and Monday, backups for over 30 miles. There is no Aldi’s on Cape. No Costco, though there is a Bjs. Each town is like a small village with souvenir shops and other retail stores. Some are very interesting and they are not tourist traps. Iwill definitely miss the Christmas Tree Shops when we return. This is where they started. First store was in Yarmouth and they gradually grew to Sandwich, Hyannis, Dennis, Orleans (I’m missing a couple). The owners used to frequent the gift shops and would take pictures of items and then make a trip to China to have the same items manufactured at a low cost to their customers. You can just imagine the fights that used to ensue. Great memories.

The new kitty had a great way to say thank you for the meal. She may end up in your house at some point, but, she may have a home and just happened to make a stop.

I didn’t visit hubs today, but will go early tomorrow. I actually needed this time to put things together in case we have a hurricane in a week to ten days from now. The Gulf Coast looks to be the spot the weather people are watching. Hubby will probably end up in Orlando at one of the sister rehabs. The back part of their building faces the Manatee River which has a tendency to overflow it’s banks. However, the area that hubby is in does not get flooded, but they evacuate the entire building anyway. What I do not like is that the families are not notified of the move nor can they contact the rehab. Everything is turned off. There are three sister rehabs in Orlando. You can contact them, however, getting info is something else.

The picture of the ocean yesterday was beautiful. However, at low tide you have more sand area with people bringing their chairs down to the water’s edge. Parking is at a premium and you do need a car sticker to use them. Parking is from 9am to 7pm.. The season runs from April 1st to the end of November. Three years ago the stickers were priced at $160 per car and that was for one town on the Cape. However, with the seal population expanding in Chatham (about 8-10 miles from our home) and more sharks showing up, makes our bay area more dangerous. Still I miss the smell of the ocean and the sea breezes.

We are feeling the start of autumn. Temps are below 85 and the humidity is low also. Looks like the rest of the week will be low to mid 80s. Very little chance for rain.

I did purchase a necklace from Heidi. Could not resist “Breakfast with Heidi.”

You were right. I was asleep when you typed, and I was in bed, not at the computer. 😀😀😀

That new kitty either belongs to someone or could be a stray. However, he must have had a home at one point and enjoys the stomach rub. He/she should be there when the other cats are around. The petting will show the other cats how nice it is and may even ask for the same. This could be the beginning of new friendships.

I didn’t see hubby. Instead I needed to put a dent into the house. I have now really begun to watch the tropics. Looks like there may be something brewing mid week and I need to start putting things together. This is the reason why I was working in the carport. I need to move things into the lanai. Light weight items could blow away and ruin someone’s window, dent a vehicle, or hit a person. I also question the new plants and may bring them closer to the house., though the planters are a good size. Still, I rather be safe than sorry later.

A jigsaw on Kindle beckons me. I need some more of that beauty sleep. I did check outside. Too cloudy to see anything. No moon or a starlit sky. Rain is expected in about two hours. The rest of the day will be dry. Tomorrow is another story. Oh well. We are still in a drought situation.

I ventured out yesterday and made it to the Rehab. Hubby asked why I didn’t call him. I had to remind him that there is no phone in his room. I would bring his cell, but I’m so scared that it could be stolen. He isn’t careful with his things and that could be because he cannot get out of bed to check the nightstand.

I have the second load in the wash. The other is in the dryer. I made some progress today. I also started putting things away in the carport which is opened on one side. Thankfully, all the new plants are in that area and are giving me some privacy. They are thriving from all the rain. The flowers have a nice aroma.

I was concerned yesterday driving to the rehab. Fortunately there were no puddles or flooding on route. Returning was a blessing with no rain, though we did have some in the wee hours. Not sure about seeing the moon tonight, but will check when I return home.

This scene reminds me of the Bay side of the Atlantic on the Cape. It is one of our beautiful beaches and for some reason it is names “Cold Storage.” At low tide, you can walk at least a half mile out without a problem. The ocean is below the waist and the sand is silky with no stones or rocks. There are plenty of sandbars where you can sit and ponder or just daydream. Yes, we both miss it. Maybe some day, soon.

The A/C tech was here today and stayed over an hour to make sure that the heat for winter was maintained. He installed the new bulbs for the motion detector. The light near the front door will need new wiring, so I let that pass for now. Last night, while rummaging for light bulbs, found a box of bulbs that you walk with. I think that will serve the purpose. And last, yes the thermostat can be relocated.

Did not see hubby today, but notified the receptionist and she will pass the news on to the RN and aides. I will try to be there tomorrow. I had very little sleep last night and thus the reason. I didn’t want to fall asleep on the return trip since I am the driver.

Tomorrow is recycle and garbage. I will wait another week on the recycle. Garbage is ready. I do not dare leave it out overnight. Will do it at morning light.

Have a great night. Enjoy the moonlight. We have too much cloud cover at the moment. May need to wait until the weekend to see the starlit sky.
