    I wish safe travels tor your sister and hope she is back home for some R&R.. Your mom will really feel the time she is gone. Sounds like those two have a great time together. Wonder if there are any cruises lined up upon her return. I’m looking at one to the Orient from Cal. . Will not be making any reservations until I know hubby can enjoy it with me. That’s a huge question because the ships have just a few rooms available for the handicapped.

    II hope someday you change your mind about another pet. Though I miss my cat long with the next door neighbor’s, Ziggy,, I am ready for a 4-legged friend. As soon as I can get this place in order, I will do so. It would be good for hubby also. At the moment I am looking at a service dog. We shall see.

    Enjoy the foliage.. The oak trees here just either turn brown or drop their leaves. There is one maple tree about a mile from our home. So far it is still green. Weather is in the mid to upper 80s with high humidity. Rain was in the forecast everyday this week. But it fizzled. At least, for now, things are quiet on the Gulf coast as well as the Atlantic.

    @sheba2011

    Good evening. I just watered some plants and put a load of laundry into the dryer. Trying to get as much done as I can before Monday’s meeting with the owner from the bathroom remodel. Trying to juggle some more things in the kitchen as well as the horrid looking closet in the master bathroom. I emptied the closet and have not had the time to go through the items and to put them on a shelf to be found when needed. I am sure many have expired dates and I need to trash them before hubby gets home. He has a habit of keeping things from two or more years ago. No wonder we do not have room for things. (LOL),

    Today I am actually feeling better. Did not see hubs but will do so tomorrow. I will need to make a stop at Aldi’s for some pudding for hubs and then also a stop at Costco. The Rehab is about 5 miles west of Costco. But those traffic lights…..every street corner. Oh yes, and you are also on camera.

    Hope to do some work in the kitchen and to start getting ready for the bathroom remodel. Cannot wait for the work to start and then be finished. Sunday, I hope to clean the carport and also move things into the lanai in case of a hurricane This will also give the workers some easy access. Just wish there were more hours in a day.

    By the way, there are some new items in Heidi Daus. I left a review for the “breakfast with Heidi” and purchased the multi colored gourd pin. I could not resist it. I also saw where she will be returning around November 5th or so for two days in November. I will miss seeing Lynn with her.

    I awoke this morning with a sore throat and a voice that sounded like a fog horn. Consequently I didn’t see hubs. Not sure if this is a sinus infection of a virus. I did stop at the Market yesterday and wonder if the air had something to do with this. The Farmers Market had salmon in chili mango sauce which I could not resist. Had it for breakfast and it was delicious. Leftovers tomorrow.

    I will try to see hubs tomorrow even if it means masking up. I have the appointment on Monday to go over everything for the redo. My main concern is not only color but having it handicapped accessible. The owner thinks putting a grab bar attached to the bottom of the toilet would work. I tried that idea out by sitting in hub’s wheelchair from Savannah. It would not work. Facing the commode, he would have a difficult time reaching below to get to a standing position even on one leg. Having something on either side along with his walker may be the better alternative. I will be meeting with the Rehab Social Work team next week to go over the plans. Our Health Insurance people will also visit the rehab to come up with a plan as well. They are well aware that I am not happy with the Social Workers or the Physical Therapy staff. And luckily we are both on the same page with the food and the amount at each meal.

    Now back to KP. Have a great evaning.

    Getting ready to do some necessary food shopping and then will be with hubs. Had a phone call a few minutes ago and the owner of the bathroom remodel will be here Monday am. At that time he will go over everything and then I should be ready for whatever I need to do next. Finally, something at the end of a long long tunnel.

    Our highest of all the holidays begins tonight prior to sundown and will end tomorrow night about 8 pm.. I will not be posting during this time. I do not want you to worry. Due to my health concerns, hubby will not be fasting. In a sense, neither will I. Need to brush my teeth and take meds. Both necessary during the heat and humidity.

    It is cloudy today with temps in the middle 80s. Humidity is up there, almost 80%. Light rain expected early evening. We definitely could use those drops.

    Have a great day. Enjoy the sun and the moonlight.

    @sheba2011

    You had quite a morning. I had my appointment in July. Normally, the two of us take a bus ride to Boston in the wee hours of the morning so we do not need to rush to the appointment. The eyedrops are many and seeing things following is ridiculous. We are usually finished by 3 pm and then need to venture to the bus terminal. It’s the blind leading the blind. We just take our time.
    Hubby’s eyesight returns in two hours. Mine is an overnight thing. One of the things we enjoy doing is having breakfast at our favorite Dim Sum restaurant on Beach St.. No matter the time of day this place is mobbed. Food delicious and the tea couldn’t be better. The items come around on carts and you get to choose. Hope you have your eyesight back.

    I did not see hubby today Just wasn’t feeling a 100%, And no, no phone call from the Renovators. If they do not call by tomorrow afternoon, I will call them. I also took a measurement from the shower to the toilet area. There is not enough room to do a turn following a shower. Evidently, the owners did not touch basis with the contractors. And to have them here next week or even this week is a huge question. Funny, pictures show smaller showers than ours with plenty of room for the vanity and other things. We will see how this mess turns out.

    Yes, I do miss xango and wonder if her health is OK.. Two years ago she had a huge flop in a supermarket and I just hope and pray that other health issues did not crop up. I think last year about this time she had a procedure. I just wish she would return on line just to say she is OK. Guess that is wishful thinking on my part.

    Hope you three have a great evening. We dodged the two hurricanes. I am hoping that we will stay clear this year. Thanks for the rainbows. Before I forget, I wish we had FBN around. Your gifs are fantastic and he would be so proud.

    @sheba2011

    Finally saw hubby today. Stopped at Culvers for one scoop of vanilla custard and a salad for me. The receptionist asked for a small coke and one scoop of custard on the side. Everything was still cold when I reached the rehab. That’s thanks to our freezer bag with the freezer paks. Hubby did not finish his dinner. He is so sick of puree foods. However, since he was in the dining room, many patients left their meals on the table. Guess the food was bad all around. The patient at hub’s table said it was garbage. It’s a long time between dinner and breakfast. I get the feeling that the Administration doesn’t care, After all they have the payments.

    I am feeling better, though tired from the meds. The only thing that hits this dizziness is Dramamine. The room spins even when the eyes are closed. Terrible feeling. Will try to get the Monday garbage out and to do a load of laundry. By the way I am using Clean Boss on the inside of each drawer of the dresser.

    Hope you three have a great evening. Enjoy the moon.

    Heads up. A new Asian market opened last week in Orlando. Sounds interesting. The market includes items from China, South Korea, Vietnam and Japan. They will have weekly sales along with free items to taste prior to purchase. Fresh fish swimming in tanks, and other goodies. I may try this market after hubby is home. Sounds like the perfect vacation to start the return home. Hope all is well. Miss you.

    @sheba2011

    Thanks for the tea. I added fresh, steamed plums to the mix. Delicious and soothing.

    I did not visit hubby. This was due to being weak and also extremely tired from the Dramamine. I am now getting ready for a stop at Aldi’s and then on to the Rehab.

    My point on the reno is that I have not been contacted on picking out fixtures, the bars that will be surrounding the toilet to help hubby maneuver from chair to seat, vanity, shower implements, flooring for the shower, etc.. The contractor’s name or his/her’s business was never mentioned so I do not know who is coming. All of a sudden this is becoming a rush rush thing. Sorry, Sheba, I need to know so I can plan accordingly. I had to contact the Renovators several times to take the measurements. What they did do was to explain that instead of going vertical they were coming more into the bathroom. I now wonder if there will be enough room between the shower and the toilet for hubby to maneuver. I also think that the contractor has no idea that hubby is wheelchair bound or if he/she is, has no idea what to do. This is extremely concerning at this point. I do not relish the idea that this renovation may be a do over. I assumed after my first meeting with the owners that we were on the same page. As of Friday, I am terrified. Things have been ordered without my knowledge. The contractor has also been informed that the thermostat can be moved. He has also been told that a shower curtain cannot prevail due to husband being in a wheelchair. If a wet shower curtain happened to get involved with one of the wheels, what is to prevent everything from falling on his head?? I will have more info within a day or two. High holidays are Wednesday and Thursday. There are too many “ifs” for this to proceed.

    • 09.27.25 5:01 PM

    @sheba2011

    Just when things start to look up, you are hit with the room going in circles as you try to focus. As I said many times, it comes without notice and hits like a ton of bricks. You ask if one should dial the EMTs or hang on to see if the meds hit. I decided to let it roll and could not get out of bed. Somehow I managed to order a small pizza and when able I proceeded to the front door. Thankfully, it was left on top of our new garbage can which has it’s own cover that is similar to our recycle bin. Just a change in color. I found the Dramamine really helps. Just makes you sleepy. So far so good today, though I missed Lynn’s last show. She and Colleen have always been my favorites. I will certainly miss Lynn. Especially when Heidi Daus returns. I am hoping that Lynn will somehow become a spokesperson for Heidi. What I do know is that Lynn lost her dad not too long ago and she remains in Florida due to family issues. It is difficult to uproot and make decisions like this. Maybe in the near future we will see Lynn again.

    I also received a phone call yesterday from the Bathroom remodelers. They will be here in a week or two. However, there is a huge catch 22. I have not picked out the fixtures or the flooring. These will be installed when the men are here. I spoke to the owner two weeks ago and nothing of this sort was mentioned. I also informed him that the thermostat could be moved to another location, thus making the room a bit longer. I also contacted the person who took the measurements and he mentioned that he would be returning with the contractor to see if that would be more advantageous. So do get this call yesterday knocked me for another you know what. It’s mind boggling to say the least. Thankfully, the phone was by my bedside and I was able to voice my concern. Hubby will be excited when I give him the news.

    Yes, I am feeling better. Will take it easy for the most part and then shower and dress to see hubby later if I feel OK.l Meanwhile, I hope you have a lovely afternoon and evening. Prayers are continuing for both family members. No more portal after Monday. The best news ever. Safe journey to them when the time comes.

    @Sheba 2911

    I started a post while visiting hubby and then it vanished into thin air. Oh well, so what else is new??😀😀😀

    Hubby was in better spirits yesterday. He was very talkative and asked for a nibble of something. He was still hungry. Luckily I brought some pudding from Costco and he was a happy camper. Later, just before I left, a new aide came in and hubby asked for a snack to tie him over to breakfast. The aide came in with a handful of things. I left him smiling.

    During the time I was with hubs, I tried to answer you. However, the room was icy cold and for some reason my fingers froze on one hand making typing impossible. To answer your question. I am fine except for some ankle pain from the fall last week. Nothing broken. Thankfully no black and blues, no scratches. I count myself lucky because it was stone steps and a concrete floor at the bottom. Thankfully, no snakes. I did check.

    I stayed away from the computer because of our high holidays this week. The holiest one, is next week, Yom Kippur. which begins at Sundown on October 1st and will go until 8 or 8:30 pm on the 2nd. There is a one or two hour break depending on the synagogue. It is a beautiful service and quite a bit of original songs with the old ones. Hubby and I will be enjoying the service via the computer in the TV room.

    Weather has been in the 90s with high humidity. We are again watch the tropics and hoping it will follow the path of the other storms. Time will tell.

    I didn’t realize that Shoelady’s sister is back in CA.. I surmise she will be returning in time for our feast in November and for Christmas. Hope she has safe travels.

    I hope xango is reading our posts. Just found out that a new Asian market opened today in Orlando.. That is closer for her. Orlando is over90 miles from my door. It will be a jaunt for hubby and myself in the future. He enjoys these markets and this one offers free samples. It would be similar to our travels.

    Have a great evening. Take care and stay safe.

    @sheba2011

    Did not see hubby yesterday. I had contacted the receptionist to see if there was anything I needed to bring. This particular person works a 12 hour shift. When I asked she said a million dollars and I burst out laughing. We both might have been on the floor with that one. She is the new person and works a 40 hour work week. The other person works from 9am to 6:30 pm, requiring less time. Anyway, as I proceeded out the front door, I tripped on something and found myself sitting on concrete in the carport. I wasn’t injured, but had problems getting up because the first step is a doozy. Very steep and the second one worse. The last step easy as pie. After about a lifetime which took only 10 minutes I was able to stand. Decided I needed a shower and contacted the rehab to say what happened. I will now be leaving within a hour to visit hubs. No cuts. No bruises. No black and blue marks.

    When I was visiting Costco a few days ago, I decided to try their heirloom tomatoes. It turned out to be a real good decision. Not only are they juicy but sweet. Hubby is on puree foods, however, if one of the other nurse’s are on I will try to sneak a couple into his room. Hubs has been asking for chewable food. I may end up cutting it into half slices just to be on the safe side. Looks like I will be making a trip to the Farmer’s Market very soon. Monday or Tuesday is looking good, weather permitting. Think I will make a winter soup with an autumn twist. This will be a real adventure going on hunches instead of a recipe. By the way, I never add salt or pepper to the soup. I find that the veggies add the seasonings I need. Especially, if they are fresh.

    Weather is low 90s. Humidity is 75%. No rain expected today or tomorrow. I will be cleaning the carport tomorrow if I can get up with the sun. The UV index is very high.

    I stayed home today to relax and pay bills. I was able to do the recycle. I tried the new attachment for the hose. Unfortunately, I was sent two female end caps, however, I did order the 3/4 ones as well. I will keep the other one for the Northeast. Well, I managed to put the hose together and when I turned the spigot on, I found a leak. To change the hose I will need to find the pliers. The person who does our power washing must have used something to tighten one end. I just hope the pliers work. Yes, I have a new attachment that will do the job (I hope)>

    I had a phone call from our Health Insurance needing to speak with hubby. Seems like they phoned last month and I mentioned he was in rehab. Looks like I need to repeat myself and maybe that is a good thing. This way I can give them an ear full. It really concerns me that he is on puree foods. Maybe they can help.

    I will be doing this and that around the house. Looks like Heidi is off for more inspiration. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s best friend. That surgery could be very painful and blood thinners not so good. She will need to be extremely careful the rest of her life. I hope she has a good physician. And your nephew will be OK. Young kids are so resilient. He will be hopping around and running again in no time. Sorry about your headache. Guess we both know what that is like. I found that taking my sinus pills help and when needed an aspirin. When this occurs, I just wish hubby was home.

    Hope you had a great day. I am finally going to call it a night. Pleasant dreams to you three. I would love to be a fly on the wall when you try the new restaurant.

    @sheba2011

    The leg pain was arthritis and the telltale sign that we would have rain. The pill worked and I fell asleep. That had to be around 9.pm I actually had a good night’s sleep. I did not see hubs today.
    I was all set to go and darkness came at the same time that I wanted to leave. We had a huge downpour and then the lightning and thunder hit. It lasted over an hour and by that time it was too late. More expected tomorrow through the weekend. However our temps will hit the 90s and then the downward slide to the mid 80s. I am hoping for the cooler temps and low humidity.

    I contacted the remodelers last week following the appointment with the electrician. I am hoping they may be able to extend the shower into the hallway closet. The contractor stated that the limited space would require a shower curtain. I questioned this because I have seen showrooms where space is limited, but still has a glass door. or just a glass window. They will contact me when they can return to redo the measurements. No contact, I have someone else
    in mind.

    By the way, the “Breakfast With Heidi” did not sell out. After seeing both images I tried to purchase a second necklace and it seemed there were a few left. I immediately sent an inquiry to CS and explained the situation. If you still love that necklace, purchase before it really sells out. There are still quite a bit of wonky on their website. Images are still missing and one needs to have patience until the item is presented.

    Have a great evening. No moon or stars tonight in our parts. Very cloudy.
