I am about to leave to do some food shopping. There is a huge problem with the renovation. He will return Monday to address it. The pipes leading to the shower will need to be redone. I knew there was a problem when the plumber was here several months ago to turn the cold water faucet off. From what I was told today, this will not be an added expense, just an added nightmare. He is returning with their plumber for more info and see what other problems may need to be addressed. Looks like I will need to empty the entire closet (six shelves) which he said they will help me with. Thank goodness I have a few empty boxes. These boxes will be labeled. The other closet will be redone. Thankfully, I am happy with that since the shelving is very deep and it is a nightmare for finding linens and blankets when needed. It also houses the filter for the A/C., This will be a fun closet since most will be donated.
I love the new book from your daughters. They gave me an idea for a nice gift for hubby. He enjoys Broadway musicals and does keep up with the shows. It also reminds me of one of your posters whose husband works on Broadway. I think the last time she said Hi was during Covid or shortly thereafter. I haven’t seen her online since and hope she and her family are OK. I think her name online was Posh.
It is very hot and humid here. Temp is over 90 and the humidity is up there as well. I will be with hubby tomorrow. I need to find things for in between meal snacks that he can enjoy. I have not heard from his physician and now wonder if she really cares. I have a feeling that she goes along with whatever the nurses say and does not go further. Our regular physician along with his assistant always ask and sometimes call for an update. I will be contacting them to let them know this latest situation. She is part of their group. Enough said. I am now on my way to shop.

Did not visit hubby today. Decided to move some things around and continue the cleanup so that it doesn’t look too bad.
The ring, I purchased, though bronze, reminds me of my wedding band which was stolen many years ago. The person who burglarized our home was someone looking for work and was in our office quite often. The burglary occurred while we were on vacation. Actually, hubby had returned home early and I surmise he was watching our home. When hubby left is when he broke in. Thankfully, I wasn’t there. I had the wedding band in a safe place. Well, I thought it was safe. The person was found about two weeks later and spent quite a bit of time in prison. The ring was never found though I went searching. The theft happened about 6 wks following the death of my dad. The ring was not as important as the last gift my parents gave us one week prior to his passing. However, on that note, I did find the item at an auction gallery. I was able to prove the item was ours and I still have it.

Just received a phone call from the remodelers. They will be here early Thursday morning for the final measurements. They are definitely looking at enlarging the space which is OK with me. I will also be picking out faucets and maybe a color scheme for the walls. In my dreams we were able to capture the rhytmic flows of the ocean. This is the time I wish I was good with a paint brush.
I made a phone call to the physician who makes the rounds at the rehab. I still wonder why hubby is on pureed foods. I also read the reports on the local hospitals and they were not charming. Sarasota is still tops along with one other that I use. I wonder if this is the reason why the nurses do not like our local hospitals and do not go along with their experts. I am now feeling scared on not using pureed foods when he returns. The other side of this is that I will be with him for all meals and will be able to watch how he eats. I will be asking for a visiting nurse and a speech therapist to be here from time to time.
Finally, I was able to purchase the bronze ring with help from CS.. At least I purchased it at the new sale price. However, when trying to buy using the computer, all sizes were unavailable. I thought it sold out. So many glitches even with images.
Now to shower and dress. I need to return an item to Amazon. I bought a vacuum cleaner for 80% off. At time of purchase it was almost a 5 star review. By the time I received it, it had gone down to 3.6%. I was too afraid to open the box. Most comments were that it never was able to pick anything up, though the suction was there. Other comments related to not keeping the charge for more than a few seconds. Better to return than be disgusted.
Haven’t been to Costco in a while. Today may be the day. LOL

I did a bit of this and that today. I finally tackled the front door area. Tons of boxes that were just waiting to be opened and put away. Didn’t do any KP. Did laundry of items needed in case of a hurricane. It felt good to make another small dent. Wednesday I will be tackling the carport. Cannot wait to put the new outdoor carpet down. I will using Dawn on the house and floor. Yes, we do have a power washer and it will certainly help with removing dirt and debris from the front door and steps. It will look like a brand new house and area when completed. Now looking for a three/four seat sofa to make the conversation area complete.
The humidity is back with a vengeance. Leaving to see hubby, the skies were darkening, but the humidity was down. Leaving the rehab around 8 pm you could cut the air quality with a knife. It was bad. Guess we will be back to the mid 90s and high humidity for the rest of the week. Rain is expected.
I was browsing Amazon yesterday and came across an item that I finally purchased 12 hours after hemming and hawing all that time. It’s a 50″ pole that has a hook attachment for enabling a person to go into their closet and take out an item or two by the hanger. Hubby’s closet does have a pole that is easy to get to when standing. I thought this device would come in handy.
The ramp will be aluminum. However, though it is easy to take a part and put elsewhere, it may not be something we would want. I started thinking about it a few days ago when we were having over 90 degree temps. Even though the carport gives us plenty of shade, the humidity may be a factor. I am thinking that hands could get burnt while holding on to the railings. Not sure if this will be feasible. Trex is a good alternative, but extremely costly. I will be checking this out with the decorator.

Our rain event will beginning soon. One inch plus is expected. I drove home yesterday while lightning was in the air. Surprised to see kids on bikes wearing dark clothes with no lights. Thankfully, I was driving very slow. This is why I leave while the sun is still in the sky or there is a sunset lingering in the West. Tomorrow is the first day of school here. Surprised to learn that it will be a full day. Usually it has been a couple of half days. Our 90 degrees + start again tomorrow along with rain. Will be doing some odds and ends today before seeing hubby. I turn our A/C and computer completely off either before I leave or just prior to the storms. Stay safe.

The ankle is better. Not 100%, but getting there. I never received a call from the pharmacy so I surmise our physician worked two days last week and took the rest of the week off. I will make another call tomorrow. Just a bit or maybe a tad angry that nothing was done after my appointment. This is not the way our physician has treated us in the past. He was always there when needed. Today, though, I could walk without limping. Thanks to a couple of aspirin and an antibiotic ointment I was actually able to walk briskly up the long stretch of hallway to hubby’s room. He blinked several times noticing my agility.
Hubby had just finished dinner when I arrived. We had a great time and though I was late in seeing him, he still h ad a huge smile. I left after 8 pm because of a storm that was coming. We had over an inch yesterday. Not sure what today’s event brought. Just thankful it wasn’t a hurricane. Tomorrow, more rain is in the forecast. Just as long as there is no thunder and lightning I will leave earlier than today.
Enjoy the moon. Too much cloud cover to see the moonlight. We need the rain. So will not be complaining. Good night and pleasant dreams.

Usually when the item sells out it is so stated. In this case all sizes were unavailable.
Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

Hi and a good afternoon to you. I know yesterday was a difficult one for you. I have not been able to visit my parents graves in many years. Not because we are in Florida, but mainly the area has changed from being a retail one to one of sheer terror. There are now gangs, guns, knives, etc.. The graveyard is now completely fenced in and I will need to call ahead with a day, time and date so that the gates would be opened and someone nearby to make us feel safe. To think, this area was where my dad’s first pharmacy was (a hole in the wall), not much bigger than an Asian Market would be in NYC.. There was a five and dime and other stores nearby. I have no idea what is there now. Very sad how neighborhoods change over the years.
Yesterday I stopped at an Asian takeout that is near me. The place was jammed pack. I put in an order for spareribs on the bone for me and the receptionist at the Rehab. It was on me. It was exciting watching her face lift up when she opened the package or rather the plastic container. These receptionists work from 9am until 6:30pm. They do not get a regular break or mealtime. The new person works from 7:30 am until either 7:30pm or 8pm.. They are not supposed to eat or nibble while on duty, but they do when they can. If one is not on there are no takers to fill the void. This is one reason why I call in. If no one is on the desk the door remains locked and only opened in emergency situations. Right now there are only two working the desk. I feel one or two more would be sufficient as backups.
Weather wise I do not feel we will be seeing the moon anytime soon. We have a 93% chance for rain within the next half hour and a 90% chance through the weekend. I do not dare complain. We are in a drought situation and I say “bring it on.”
All the plants have now been planted. I will begin the cleanup either tomorrow or Sunday. It depends upon when I get started for the day. I think UPs will be happy to see a clean area after making a mess of potting soil, etc.. I will now be able to unpack one of the new rugs for this area. I just hope there are no hurricanes in the forecast. Removing everything will be a huge task. LOL

Yes, that is the ring. Since the day it was reduced in price it has stated unavailable in size…It did not matter which size you moused over. It all stated the same thing. Since making the announcement of the move to PA, there have been images missing along with descriptions. In other cases incorrect item numbers or info or both. Very disheartening to say the least. I have kept quiet for the most part since most of the people may be new and thus have never been employed in TV or other forms of communication on the web.

Have not received the new prescription so I phoned the doctor’s office this morning and left a message with his assistant. Seems some of the meds will conflict with what he wants me to take. Rather than have me go off he wants me to stay on. This has to do with the ones I take for Thyroid and a tiny one for BP. Today was the first day that I noticed the swelling has gone down somewhat. The pain is still there and the aspirin seems to be doing the trick. Tomorrow I will attempt to finish the planting and to do one load of laundry.
Yesterday was a real long day. Hubby enjoyed it. I arrived around 12:30 pm and found a parking spot under the tree. Normally I complain about the A/C being too cold. This has not been the case for the last couple of weeks. The A/C has not been working and of course you cannot open a window. Yesterday was no exception. We met with the decorator and went over some of the colors for the new walk-in shower. Hubby hates beige which is the color of the tub and shower in this house. This bathroom has never been updated. It took us just a few seconds to pick out the tile. We decided that the new shower will be white and thus will open us to a myriad of other possibilities. Since the entire bathroom will be demolished to the bear whatever (this includes the window) we can now choose the palate. I am thinking of a light teal for the floor which will make the white look like the whitecaps at the shore. The previous owners put up pictures of seashells (my favorite hobby) and painted the frame in teal. I have used these pictures for the room. We will not purchase another medicine cabinet. Hubby would not be able to reach it while in a wheelchair. So the vanity will have drawers as well as an area underneath the sink for other possibilities. A few months back Marla Wynne had a couple of mirrors. I chose one and put it into favorites. When it went on sale I purchased it and I will use it in lieu of the cabinet. That room is now coming together in my mind and I cannot wait for everything to start.
Yesterday afternoon the rehab had a fire drill. I was ushered into an office. Hubs was outside at the time. This was around 4 pm. We sat in the lobby until dinnertime and then went to the dining room. I had ordered a small meal when I arrived. Dinner is usually served around 5:15pm. This did not happen. Dinner was not served until after 7pm.. I have no idea what the holdup was. No one complained. Hubs did have a pureed dinner. The aides said that he will be on some solids soon. I hope so. Last night I arrived home after 8:30pm.. Completely exhausted.
I did not see hubby today. I did some work and decided to put my feet up. It was after 5 pm when I awoke. Decided to pay bills instead. Contacted the receptionist. I will bring her a dinner tomorrow.

I received the cat and fish pin and it is absolutely adorable. I have a hat that I wear outside and this will be part of it. I also received the dolphin necklace and wore it to show hubby. Only, I fell asleep and awoke around 8pm. Too late to visit. Tomorrow we will meet with the decorator and I mentioned this to hubby over lunch. He was ecstatic. This is the beginning of him returning home. His words resonated with me when he actually stated “I am actually going home.” He cannot wait to help with the cleaning process. I think he will enjoy holding a sponge and a mop.
I went on line yesterday to various furniture stores. I found a dinette table with four chairs that were cute. The chairs came in three colors: white, dark blue and lime green. I gravitated to the dark blue thinking of the Atlantic Ocean during the winter months. I was tempted to go to the store to actually check it out and wanted our friend with me to get her opinion. That is how I found out. She had one daughter who is a real estate agent. Her daughter married late in life and has stepchildren and a pooch. Our friend used to say she was babysitting her granddog. We will truly miss her and her humor. I will be contacting her husband when hubby returns home.
No phone call from the pharmacy. Hopefully they will call tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

The doctor’s visit was through the roof. He was impressed with the lab results. Unfortunately, he was not impressed with the ankle. I am waiting for a call from the pharmacy to pick up some meds which should help with the swelling. He also checked my shoulder and felt I had pulled some muscles and the meds he ordered should help with that a well. He mentioned that it looked luike a spider bite/ Right now I am reeling from the death of a real close friend. This person was also our neighbor on Cape. They had purchased a condo in Port Charlotte and were so looking forward to spending more and more quality time there. They eventually moved full time to the condo. She had designed it perfectly. She had a decorators touch. About 3 or 4 years ago they sold the condo and bought a home in Sarasota with a pool. During this period we tried to reach out to them to no avail. She was diagnosed with lung cancer and they thought they got it in time. All lobes in and around the lungs were negative. She never smoked. I could not understand why I couldn’t get a hold of them. I now know why. I have not told hubby yet. I need time to process.

Happy Sunday. I can relate to how you are feeling. Most you can attribute to the weather and sinuses. Other is just before visiting your dad at his gravesite. There are times when I seem to forget, but my heart and brain remember. There are times when I will feel OK. And others when the pain sets in. My mood changes. One minute you feel like dancing and the next the tears are shedding. You never really get over it. It just becomes more bearable as the years pass.
I didn’t see hubby today. I can not get the foot into a regular shoe and I do not dare drive with thongs. I do have a doctor appointment in the morning and will bring a change in shoes for later. Hubby’s rehab is exactly one mile from the doctor’s office. I may make a detour to Culver’s for a salad. Temp will be in the 90s with high humidity. There used to be a valet service from the parking lot to the entrance for the physicians. This was part of the hospital as well. The doctors thought it was too costly so it was dropped. I wonder how many people are affected by this. When hubby was hospitalized I wondered why there was no pickup area for those in wheelchairs or using walkers. Depending where you were situated depended upon how far you had to walk from car to the front door of the hospital. It was so sad to see someone alone using what they could to go from B to A. There were quite a few times where I would wheel someone from their car to the reception area. I mentioned this to our physician many times. In one ear and out the other. I surmise it will be worse now with the cuts to the medical insurance.
The ankle still is swollen but the pain is bearable. I surmise that I am on the right course. Putting on a regular shoe is still a problem. Glad my appointment is in the morning before the heat and humidity sets in. I am looking forward to Tuesday when we both meet with the decorator. I basically have an idea of color, but it is hubby’s room. I will let him make the decision. The theme here has been beach scenes. The previous owners enjoyed finding seashells which they had framed. I kept those since it’s one of my favorite hobbies. The frames looked like they were homemade and painted in a light teal. The walls were painted white. These renovators will be going down to the bear studs and then some. This is all precautionary and to be sure there are no termites or other things behind the walls. The bathroom will be enlarged at the same time. I will be losing space in two hallway closets, but that is OK. One closet will be torn apart and rebuilt. This one houses the extra blankets and linens and right now it is difficult to use because of the depth of the shelving. The filter for the A/C is housed here and it will be the first area to be completely demolished and rebuilt.
Have a great evening. Enjoy the moon and your walk with Poppy and hubby.

The ankle on one side is still swollen but not as painful. I decided to stay home and to rest the area. The sinus meds and the aspirin are helping. I will be seeing our physician on Monday and see what he recommends. The weather has changed a bit in that the humidity is lower and I can now breathe without a problem. The temp is still in the low to mid 90s but feels OK. I will be looking forward to seeing the samples for the bathroom. That’s on Tuesday. This business does a complete renovation. Not only bathrooms, but the entire house. This is why I went with them. I won’t need to do things piecemeal. They will also help me remove boxes and other furniture to areas that will not be worked on. The other businesses only do bathrooms. This would mean I would need to find others to remove flooring and to make sure that the subfloors are in pristine condition. I also will have the house checked for mold and to make sure that the air quality is good or better. The initial inspection which was a freebie already made me feel better knowing that everything is good shape. Clean Boss may smell bad at times, but knowing that everything is better than OK means a lot to me.
Hubby’s birthday is the 25th. I am hoping he will be home to celebrate. Good memory.
