Dolly Parton, born January 19, 1946, died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80. The country music legend, actress, songwriter, and philanthropist was best known for classics including “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “I Will Always Love You,” as well as her decades of charitable work through initiatives such as the Imagination Library. Her music and generosity made her one of the most beloved figures in American entertainment. Rest in peace. 🕊️

I am at the rehab. Made a stop at Sam’s Club and picked up 2 books, fresh fruit, Southwestern chicken and a mousse cake. Hubs went to town on the fruit. Only the blueberries were on the sour side. Glad to see their ribs are back. Still miss the barbecue ones.

It is very hot here as well. The humidity is low so it feels good. Tonight it is back to that awful word, humidity. The “h” word will be 70+ %. It will be close to 90%+ beginning tomorrow.

So sorry to hear about Dolly. I could have sworn that I saw her live yesterday. She is one of my favorites along with country and western music. She will be missed by so many. May she RIP.

Dolly Parton, who rose from a loving if impoverished upbringing in the mountains of East Tennessee to become the “Queen of Country” music, a Hollywood star, and a beloved American icon, has died, her family announced.
Parton was 80.
Her death came after Parton suddenly announced in May 2026 that she was canceling a Las Vegas show and said she’d been undergoing treatment for kidney stones for several years.
