I created and started this thread 13 years ago in March. 😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎I have been shopping and posting on HSN since the late
90’s 😎I have wonderful memories from the HSN we all know and love.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 🎈😎I am hoping your hip is healing better.
Oz is alright today we have the Sun I like saying that lol! πŸ˜ŽπŸ’•

Busy day here in OZ doing some yard work. We have had strong winds and they do leave
debris. Poppy is running around chasing his girlfriend I love how he wags his tail. πŸ’•

I hope you are able to see your husband today and I pray he is doing well. 🎈

      • OODIEBOM

      @Sjheba2011

I was able, finally, to be with hubby. Arrived just in time when his dinner was being served. The pain in my hip has finally started to subside and I was able to enjoy the visit. He is still on oxygen, but not full time. He is still coughing and I surmise the A/C is the culprit. Luckily, I purchased 2 blankets and one I just recently washed and will put his name in there so it will not be lost. On one hand I think it may help, but on the other, may be too warm. I will ask the RN to check on him from time to time.

Temp today was in the 80s and as I type it is a balmy 70+. Humidity is up as well. Allergy season is upon us as well. Debating about any planting since there is no rain in the forecast over the weekend. Not sure if April will be any different. Time will tell.

      • Sheba2011

      @oodiebom,

Good Evening glad you had a nice visit with your husband. Having an extra blanket should
not hurt if it’s the A/C above him causing some of the issues.

I am not doing any planting until late April because April Showers bring May Flowers. 🎈😎

Oz will be in the 30’s tomorrow the weather forecast said to cover or bring in your plants.
So since our weather is very iffy I will wait just a bit. 😎🎈

Hey get off that hip and put something warm on it if you are still having issues.

Goodnight Oodie here is to sweet dreams. πŸ’•πŸ˜Ž

      @shoelady60,

Good day in the ‘burgh. πŸ’•πŸ˜ŽπŸŽˆI like saying that to you everyday.
Lady how are you? I know how you feel about trees. We had some
debris from strong winds knock off some limbs so I am gathering up a bit
of everything I think all neighbors were affected some more than others.

I know you will have a good time with your mother and sister. πŸŽˆπŸ˜ŽπŸ’•

Hubby and I will not start planting just yet I have a feeling mother nature is full of
      surprises. 😎

Sending Spring Hugs to you and Jake. πŸ’•πŸŽˆ

      TOLKIEN READING DAY

Celebrated around the world on March 25th, Tolkien Reading Day is a favorite among fans of the renowned author.

J.R.R. Tolkien (Jan. 3, 1892 – Sept. 2, 1973) was an English writer, poet, philologist, and university professor. He was best known as the author of the classic works The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarrillion as well as Roverandom and Farmer Giles of Ham. However, he has published more than 30 books, several posthumously. The author has sold more than 150 million copies of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and that number continues to grow.

The day encourages readers of all ages to explore the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien and learn more about the author. With over 30 published works, he had a lot to say and not just about hobbits, though many are on medieval order.

      Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
      Song by Elton John ‧

When are you gonna come down?
When are you going to land?
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old man
You know you can’t hold me forever
I didn’t sign up with you
I’m not a present for your friends to open
This boy’s too young to be singing
      The blues, ah, ah
      So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your penthouse
I’m going back to my plough
Back to the howling old owl in the woods
      Hunting the horny back toad
Oh, I’ve finally decided my future lies
      Beyond the yellow brick road
      Ah, ah
What do you think you’ll do then?
I bet they’ll shoot down the plane
It’ll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again
      Maybe you’ll get a replacement
There’s plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain’t got a penny
      Sniffing for tidbits like you
      On the ground, ah, ah
      So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your penthouse
I’m going back to my plough
Back to the howling old owl in the woods
      Hunting the horny back toad
Oh, I’ve finally decided my future lies
      Beyond the yellow brick road
      Ah, ah

You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
      Song by Aretha Franklin ‧

Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you
      Life was so unkind
      You’re the key
      To my piece of mind
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn’t know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
      Now I’m no longer doubtful
      Of what I’m livin’ for
And if I make you happy
I don’t need to do more
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
Oh baby, what ya done to me
      (Whatcha done to me)
Made me feel so good inside
      (Good inside)
And I just wanna be close to you
      (Wanna be)
You make me feel so alive
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)

I hope you are feeling better today. How is your husband doing?

      @sheba2011

Feeling a tad better. Did not see hubs. I just need to make sure that this is not a cold, rather a sinus infection. I was able to do the laundry this afternoon. Other than that, nothing else done. Will do the taxes tomorrow and hopefully, mail to our accountant Friday.

Hip is still giving me some aches and pains, but overall it is better. I stopped the meds which was aspirin. But ,it did get me over the worse part with a heating pad. I think I will take the blanket robe with me. Hubs fell in love with it, and thank goodness I purchased two. I have a feeling that this can help his hands and back. Hope you are having a great Wednesday. Cannot believe how fast this week is flying by.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈Oodie I hope you and your husband are
      doing better today.

Oz was in the high 80’s on Saturday and I mean we were very warm hubby turned the
A/C for a bit. Come Sunday and Monday we were freezing back to turning on the heat.
I mean really??? I will take one or the other but not like this. I have no choice in the matter.
I had bad headache last night and I just went to bed and slept like a baby. 🎈😎

      Let the Spring begin. πŸ˜ŽπŸŽˆπŸ’•

Oodie if you are still under the weather I would stay put but will check on hubby.

The singer was quite popular with the chef. He created not just this diet toast for Ms. Melba, but a famous dessert as well – Peach Melba.

Awoke with a sore throat, but the hip is better. I decided to stay home another day just in case. The sore throat could be a sinus infection and therefore started on the meds for that. However, I learned something new today on Manuka honey. Never put it in anything that is hot, such as tea. It likes a cold environment and that is when it does it’s best work. All these years I have been doing it incorrectly. For Shame!!!!

I have been home all day with real bad pain from the A/C at the Rehab. I can honestly say it is from them this time as my A/C was off all day and night. Matter of fact, I just turned it on since the temp in the house was over 80. It will be in the low 60s tonight. A/C will be off. No one has called to give me an update on hubs. I hope he is doing OK. He has a great roommate. That I am thankful for. I will write more later. Cannot sit or stand for long periods.

Sheba, Hello! Doing well here and hope you are as also.
Holding off on outdoors activities as its mating and pup season for coyotes. They are out all hours. I sat outside for about 30 minutes just getting sun and reading. It was hot but not too bad. I donate to a local place and a volunteer picks up the items. She really loves my stuff as she comes about 15 minutes after I text her. Once she was cooking and left her pot in the stove. I told her no hurry but she is very engaged and active. Lovely woman.
      Have a great week everyone!

5 Greatest Songs ever to win the OSCAR for Best Original Song.

The Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards has produced some remarkable winnersβ€”songs that didn’t just work inside a film but became part of popular culture. The best of them transcend the movie itself and become enduring classics played on radio, covered by artists, and remembered decades later.

Here are five of the greatest songs ever to win the Oscar for Best Original Song.
β€œOver the Rainbow” β€” The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Songwriters: Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg
      Performed by: Judy Garland
      Film: The Wizard of Oz
Few songs in cinema history carry the emotional weight of β€œOver the Rainbow.” Introduced early in the film by Garland’s Dorothy Gale, the song became a symbol of hope and longing.
Ironically, studio executives nearly cut the song from the film because they thought it slowed the pacing. Instead, it became one of the most beloved songs ever written and is frequently ranked among the greatest songs of the 20th century.

      β€œMoon River” β€” Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Songwriters: Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer
      Performed by: Audrey Hepburn
      Film: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
This gentle ballad, sung by Hepburn while sitting on a fire escape with a guitar, became the emotional centerpiece of the film.
β€œMoon River” went on to become one of the most recorded songs in pop history, covered by artists from Frank Sinatra to Andy Williams, whose version turned it into a major hit.
β€œMy Heart Will Go On” β€” Titanic (1997)

Songwriters: James Horner and Will Jennings
      Performed by: Celine Dion
      Film: Titanic
Perhaps the most commercially successful Oscar-winning song ever, β€œMy Heart Will Go On” became inseparable from James Cameron’s epic film.
The sweeping ballad dominated radio worldwide and helped push the Titanic soundtrack into the tens of millions of sales. Dion’s performance and the song’s unforgettable flute melody made it one of the defining pop songs of the 1990s.
β€œRaindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” β€” Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
Songwriters: Burt Bacharach and Hal David
      Performed by: B. J. Thomas
Film: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The playful bicycle scene featuring Paul Newman and Katharine Ross helped cement this Bacharach-David tune as a pop standard.
The song became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard charts and remains one of the most recognizable melodies of the late 1960s.
      β€œLose Yourself” β€” 8 Mile (2002)

Songwriters: Eminem, Jeff Bass, and Luis Resto
      Film: 8 Mile
β€œLose Yourself” made history as the first hip-hop song to win the Oscar for Best Original Song.
Its urgent lyrics about seizing opportunity perfectly mirrored the narrative of 8 Mile. The song became a massive cultural phenomenon, winning multiple Grammys and topping charts worldwide. Eminem famously skipped the ceremony when it won, later performing it live at the Oscars nearly two decades later.

      @sheba2011

I just arrived home after spending most of the day with hubs. He was asleep when I arrived and thankfully I had a book to read, a puzzle book and Amazon Fire for my jigsaw puzzles. Huge smile when he awoke and saw me by his bedside. He is on oxygen, but the lowest number, so hopefully, his lungs will be strong enough by tomorrow to be on his own. He is still coughing, but not as much as yesterday. He was able to joke and talk somewhat. His voice is now coming back. However, I am not at this point saying he is out of the huge part. I do recall how pneumonia runs, so I am hoping he will snap out of this. Thankfully, today, I remembered my sweatshirt. By 6pm I was freezing. Hubs blankets were every which way and not on him. So, I became the aide and took the covers off and started from scratch. He was nice and comfy and soon fell asleep. I even brought the blanket that Sheba and I purchased . The only thing is, I forgot to bring the labels with his name on it. I will bring it with me tomorrow.

At the moment I am in tons of pain with the hip. Not sure about doing recycle and garbage tomorrow morning. I was hoping to do it tonight. But no way. I was OK until the rehab put the A/C on low. I am beginning to feel that that is the culprit, though I must admit the one near the throne is also my nemesis.

Hope you have a pleasant evening. Temp is in the mid 60s as I type. House is very warm. All systems were off when I left. They are now running.

Thank you for the shout out. Having everyone around certainly helps me get through the day and night. I posted an update. I think at the moment my hip hurts more than his pneumonia (LOL). I am about ready to call it a night.

By the way, I am hoping that someday you will renege on a pooch. Some of my fun times on line is watching the antics of the pooches, especially the labs. I know it is hard when they get sick and a difficult decision must be made. However, sometimes the fun times makes everything so worthwhile. When I lost my cat and my neighbor’s cat came to our home to say goodbye, I was really distraught. But the memories of both and their funny sides still makes me laugh. I am ready for another adventure, only the house isn’t ready. Definitely will be going to the shelter to pick out my new friend when the time is right. Stay well. Again, I will say, you are very fortunate that you have a sister that cares.

On National Countdown Day, 03/21, we can start a countdown to just about anything. Around the office, we countdown to the next celebration every day! It is also a day to consider past and present countdowns of significance.

Recently, parts of the United States counted down to August 21, 2017, to a total solar eclipse. The event created road trip opportunities for those within driving distance. It also created science party lessons on rooftops in the path of the eclipse. And it was a memorable countdown, indeed. Did you miss it? Start your countdown for April 8, 2024. This solar eclipse will cover parts of Mexico, Central and Northeastern United States, and just a bit of Canada.

National Memory Day on March 21 is a day celebrating the brain as a function of the human body that helps us to recall events and retrieve experiences from the past.

Most people think of memory as something that is used to remember past events. However, there are actually three functions of memory. The first function of memory is to acquire information. The second and third functions of memory involve the ability to retain and retrieve information.

Update: I was able to finally see hubs yesterday and today. Both of us took sick the same day, which was last Sunday. I with a pain in the hip and hubs with pneumonia. I just arrived home. He looked better yesterday. Today he liked the dessert which was ice cream. However, the RN informed me that it was a NO NO and causes more problems. The ice cream did not come from me, but from the kitchen. He had a few bites of the main meal and said he was too tired to eat. I am now scared and concerned. He was on oxygen when I left. One of the aides showed me how to adjust it around the ears. I am scared and hope he will be all right. I was not informed of this illness. Then again, if someone tried to reach me the phone said SPAM on all calls until Thursday. It is now working OK. Garbage and Recycle is Monday. I am going to try to get everything out before I head to the Rehab.

      @oodiebom,

Good Evening I am not liking this news. My husband had pneumonia last year.
Hubby went to the ER and they gave him a shot and some meds he went back to
work in three days and was fine afterwards. Perhaps the shaft over his bed with the
A/C may be the cause of some of the coldness.

Oodie I pray for a quick recovery for both of you. Also try having the nurse or whoever
calls patients spouses call your phone and see what number comes up if the number rings
with you holding the phone mark that a safe call and put it in your contacts. You should
never miss an important phone call like that. I wish there was a easier way to contact you.

I hope the weather is a bit warmer so less pain and a nice temp in your husband room.

Have some tea and just don’t do anything for the rest of night. Read or listen to music
anything to make you comfortable. I would certainly keep up with the Rehab in case they call.

I think I would be a bit overwhelmed for hubby he can beat this with the right care and meds.

Saying prayers that this too shall pass. πŸ’•

We have a beautiful day also, sun is shining for a change.🌞 More strong storms again tomorrow evening into Monday.β›ˆοΈ Getting sick of these, why can’t it just rain?

It’s been a quiet Saturday, doing the same this and that as you, lol! Just finished watching the hockey game and we finally won in a shootout.πŸ‘ Our record is so bad in shootouts. If we would have won half of them, we’d be in first place.

Going to put my feet up later. Spring hugs back to you and Poppy.πŸ€—πŸ’–

      Pieces of Me
      Song by Ashlee Simpson

On a Monday, I am waiting
      Tuesday, I am fading
And by Wednesday, I can’t sleep
Then the phone rings, I hear you
And the darkness is a clear view
Since you’ve come to rescue me
Fall… With you, I fall so fast
I can hardly catch my breath
      I hope it lasts
Oh, it seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
Oh, it’s as if you know me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
      I am moody, messy
I get restless, and it’s senseless
How you never seem to care
      When I’m angry, you listen
Make me happy, it’s your mission
And you won’t stop ’til I’m there
Fall… Sometimes I fall so fast
      When I hit that bottom
      Crash, you’re all I have
Oh, it seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
Oh, it’s as if you known me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
How do you know everything I’m about to say?
      Am I that obvious?
And if it’s written on my face
I hope it never goes away
      Yeah
On a Monday, I am waiting
And by Tuesday, I am fading
      Into your arms
      So I can breathe
Oh, it seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
Oh, it’s as if you’ve know me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell
Oh, I love how you can tell
Oh, I love how you can tell
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
