I created and started this thread 13 years ago in March. 😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎I have been shopping and posting on HSN since the late
90’s 😎I have wonderful memories from the HSN we all know and love.

      NATIONAL CHOCOLATE SOUFFLÉ DAY

National Chocolate Soufflé Day celebrates a delightfully delicious dessert on February 28th each year. This food holiday seems like the perfect marriage–chocolate AND cake. YUM!

      NATIONAL FLORAL DESIGN DAY

National Floral Design Day on February 28th recognizes the art and history of floral design. For thousands of years, floral design has been an important cultural art form. This is the day we celebrate that art form. It may be in a bouquet, painting, in textiles, a garden or a floral arrangement.

      NATIONAL PUBLIC SLEEPING DAY

If you’re tired on February 28th, it might be because National Public Sleeping Day encourages a mid-day nap right where you are. It is a day for anyone and everyone to take a nap on a blanket at the beach, at the park, in the movie theater, on a bus, train, or subway or any other public place that may work for you. However, it may not be a good idea to take that nap at your desk during work!

      Should’ve Never Let You Go
      Song by Neil Sedaka

… When you walk into a room
Your beauty steals my breath away
When you look into my eyes
I find it hard to find the words to say
… Wanna run away and hide
I just got to let you know
      Feel so tangled up inside
I should have never let you go
      … Anyone can make mistakes
And we both have made our share
But a life without your love
Is a life too hard to bear
      … I don’t care who’s right or wrong
Only know I love you so
Why did I have to write this song
I should have never let you go
… Why in all the wide, wide world
Have I run into you here
      Wish I could disappear
      … I’ll never understand i’ll never understand
      Why I even give a
… When you walk into a room
You know I stand on shaky ground
I’ve built so many walls around me
Now the walls are tumbling down
      … You’re the kind I can’t forget
Let the tears begin to flow
      I have only one regret
I should have never let yougo
Should have never let you go
… Should have never let you go
Should have never let you go
Should have never let you go

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I hope you are feeling much better today. 😎

I would stay home and get rested take your time doing anything.

I am sure your husband will understand.

Oodie as I type this post to you our daughter has landed in Boston where she lives.
Daughter had a wonderful 2 weeks trip. This was a retreat and a Yoga Class with several
friends. Last night she was in Qatar last night and UK this morning. Qatar got hit by
some bombs this morning. Daughter said a lot of people are trapped she is a Journalist
and a Professional Photographer we will talk later once she gets settled in. I can breathe
now. So glad she had a wonderful time and left in the nick of time. 😎💕

Oodie OZ is alright today but rain and snow and then some tomorrow. Hey that’s the way it
      goes with the weather. 😎

      Rest well.

      @sheba2011

I am OK today. Need to figure out what actually made me pass out. Have a feeling it could have been a number of things including the Rehab food. I stayed in yesterday and slept most of the day. Ordered a few things from Sam’s Club. Hate standing in line for check out. I have used their self service, but sometimes that is a hold up as well.

I will be making a stop at Culver’s for their homemade iced custard. Hubby does enjoy this and with the temps in the low to mid 70s today it will be a good treat. The Farmer’s Market makes their own as well. However, by the time I reach the rehab it becomes a drink. They also do not have hot fudge for a topping.

I will start on our taxes beginning of next week. I have one loose end to do on line and that should be the end of everything. I hope.

We had some much needed rain and more expected this afternoon. It will not be enough for our drought situation, but every little bit will help. Hope you all have a great day and then some. Rain is expected this evening. Have umbrella, will walk between the droplets, if possible.

      @sheba2011

I didn’t realize your daughter lives in Boston. I kept thinking she was in Georgia. I can visualize that sigh of relief that she is safe at home. Guess she will be returning to work n hext week. Happy she is safe. You must have been on pins and needles yesterday.

I ended up taking your advice and stayed home. I must admit that the “smart water” came in handy. One of the best advice I’ve received. Hope to have some on hand for the high temps and humidity which could begin anytime now. Florida weather predictions are almost as bad as the northeast. (LOL).

      @shoelady60,

Good day in the ‘burgh. 🎈😎I can breathe a bit easier today our daughter just landed in

She went through the UK and her flight has landed in Boston where she is.

I can’t wait to talk to her once she is settled in. For the record she had a fantastic time.
This was a retreat and Yoga sessions daughter left after two weeks in the nick of time.
Daughter is a Professional Journalist and Photographer so I am sure she has something
to write about. I am just thankful she is back on Boston soil. 💕😎🎈

Enjoy your visit with your mother. 🎈😎💕 I miss your sister already.

Sending warm hugs to you and Jake. 💕😎

OMG! A thank you prayer to the Lord for watching over your daughter.🙏 Maybe next time they can do a retreat near Boston, lol! In her profession, I’m sure she has been in many situations which doesn’t help mama’s nerves.😟 Happy she is home.

Spent the afternoon with mom. Like you, she is missing sis and counting down the days when she’ll be back. She hasn’t even left the port yet!🤣 Sis sent a picture of her first drink onboard.🍹

Lost the hockey game today in overtime but at least we got one point. It will be a tight squeeze to the finish.

Hang in there with the cold weather, it is coming here tomorrow and the beginning of the week. Probably more snow, sigh. Lots of hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

    My Heart Will Go On
    Song by Celine Dion

    Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on
    Far across the distance
    And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
    Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more, you open the door
And you’re here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
    And last for a lifetime
And never let go ’til we’re gone
Love was when I loved you
One true time I’d hold to
In my life, we’ll always go on
    Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on (why does the heart go on?)
Once more, you open the door
And you’re here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
    You’re here, there’s nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on
    We’ll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart and
My heart will go on and on

With the massive explosion of news this week that INXS have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — it feels only right that we begin by honouring the man whose presence lit the fuse and whose spirit still echoes through every note…
✨ Michael Hutchence – The Magnetic Frontman
There are frontmen… and then there was Michael Hutchence.
Born with an intensity you simply can’t manufacture, Michael wasn’t just the lead singer of INXS — he was the conduit. The alchemist. The man who could turn a groove into a global movement.
From the early pub days in Australia to stadiums across the world, Michael possessed that rare, dangerous blend of vulnerability and swagger. He could stalk a stage like a panther one minute… and the next, pull you in with a whisper that felt like it was meant only for you.
      🎤 The Voice
      Sultry. Soulful. Unmistakable.
Listen to the raw ache in “Never Tear Us Apart.”
Feel the playful strut in “New Sensation.”
Witness the primal fire in “Devil Inside.”
Michael didn’t just sing songs — he inhabited them. He bent around the rhythm section like smoke around a flame. His phrasing was elastic, seductive, emotionally intelligent. He understood tension and release not just musically, but physically.
      🔥 The Performer
Long before social media and viral moments, Michael Hutchence was the moment.
Watch footage from Wembley in 1991. Those stripy pants That hair. That smirk. That absolute command of over 70,000 people. He didn’t demand attention — he magnetised it. There was a theatricality there, yes — but it never felt forced. It was instinctual.
      He made danger look elegant.
      🖤 The Poet
Beyond the charisma was a deeply thoughtful lyricist. Alongside Andrew Farriss, Michael co-wrote some of the most enduring songs of the late 20th century. There was sensuality, yes — but also introspection, longing, social commentary and heart.
He was curious about the world. About people. About love and its complexities.
      🌏 The Global Impact
From Sydney pubs to MTV domination, Michael helped take an Australian band and make them international icons. He carried the mystique of old-school rock stars but lived in a modern, media-saturated world. He navigated fame, adoration, criticism and personal battles — all under the spotlight.
And yet, nearly three decades on, his presence hasn’t faded. New generations still discover him. Still ask, “Who is that?” Still fall under the spell.
      That is legacy.

      @sheba2011

I ordered a dinner at the rehab yesterday. It was supposed to be a grilled cheese sandwich with soup and dessert. The dessert was canned pears which I left due to the processing. The grilled cheese was just toasted bread with cheese (one slice) put between the bread and it came with tomato soup. and a cucumber salad. I ate the cheese sandwich and gave the soup to hubs. He did not want the pears. The cucumbers were soaked in dressing. I still ended up with a severe case of sulfites. I sort of blacked out, but was able to take one pill prior. I felt it oncoming. I scared hubs who called for help using the buzzer. I need to say that was the first time he ever used it. The nurse came in and I was able to say sulfite. I could hear hubs calling me, but could not open the eyes and if I did so, everything would have been dark. From start to finish, it took me almost two hours to be able to drive home. By the time I left, hubs was sound asleep. The RN let me out and then watched me walk to the car. She did not move away from the window until I left the parking lot.

I forgot that the water was to be turned off today. Remembered when I wanted to use the shower. It is still off as I type. I surmise that the turnoff has something to do with the sewer system since the city has been redoing it since the beginning of February. There are roads that are not passable. Guess this will be on going until sometime in June.

Yes, I am feeling better. Just tired. Will stay home today and as long as we do not have a lightning show tomorrow will see hubs.

Sheba, glad you have a break from some of the winter weather.
It was very warm here today and I sat outside for about 30 minutes.

Thanks for the shoutout. They picked it up in the third period. One down, a bunch yet to go. Glad they won after having two weeks off. The crowd did a great ovation at the beginning of the game for Jack Hughes, nice touch.🏒🥅🏅

Sis on her way to Florida. Did some grocery shopping today.🛒 Have to alter my schedule to fit in visits with mom. Stopping to check in on her tomorrow.

      Mariah Carey Lyrics
      “Butterfly”

When you love someone so deeply
      They become your life
It’s easy to succumb to overwhelming fears inside
Blindly I imagined I could keep you under glass
Now I understand to hold you I must open up my hands
      And watch you rise

Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Oh, fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
      Butterfly

I have learned that beauty has to flourish in the light
Wild horses run unbridled or their spirit dies
You have given me the courage to be all that I can
And I truly feel your heart will lead you back to me
      When you’re ready to land

Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Oh, fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
      Butterfly

I can’t pretend these tears aren’t overflowing steadily
I can’t prevent this hurt from almost overtaking me
But I will stand and say goodbye
      For you’ll never be mine
Until you know the way it feels to fly

Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Oh, fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me (I will know you’re mine)
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly, butterfly (My butterfly)
Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Oh, fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
      Butterfly (Fly)
      So flutter through the sky
      Butterfly… fly
      Spread your wings and fly
      Butterfly

      Always Remember Us This Way
      Song by Lady Gaga

… That Arizona sky burnin’ in your eyes
You look at me and, babe, I wanna catch on fire
It’s buried in my soul like California gold
You found the light in me that I couldn’t find
… So when I’m all choked up
And I can’t find the words
      Every time we say goodbye
      Baby, it hurts
      When the sun goes down
      And the band won’t play
I’ll always remember us this way
      … Lovers in the night
      Poets tryin’ to write
We don’t know how to rhyme
      But, , we try
      But all I really know
      You’re where I wanna go
The part of me that’s you will never die
… So when I’m all choked up
And I can’t find the words
      Every time we say goodbye
      Baby, it hurts
      When the sun goes down
      And the band won’t play
I’ll always remember us this way
      … Oh, yeah
I don’t wanna be just a memory, baby, yeah
      Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo
      Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo
      Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo
… So when I’m all choked up
And I can’t find the words
      Every time we say goodbye
      Baby, it hurts
      When the sun goes down
      And the band won’t play
I’ll always remember us this way, way, yeah
      When you look at me
      And the whole world fades
I’ll always remember us this way

      NATIONAL CLAM CHOWDER DAY

Each year on February 25th people across the nation have a bowl and spoon ready to be filled with clam chowder as they prepare to participate in National Clam Chowder Day.

A clam chowder in its simplest form is a soup or stew containing clams or fish. The most common type of chowder includes milk or cream as well as potatoes, though the Manhattan clam chowder has tomatoes.

The origin of the word “chowder” is up for a little bit of debate. The French word for cauldron is “chaudiere.” The English word “jowter” means fish peddler. Both are on the hook for possible origins.

In chowder, along with the clams, it is common to find diced potatoes, onions (often sautéed with pork or bacon drippings) and celery.

A mom will text her twenty-year-old child,
letting him know it’s going to rain and not to forget an umbrella.⁣
      ⁣
She calls to see how the first day of school separation went for her grandkids and if her daughter made it to the car before tears streamed down her face.⁣
      ⁣
      She watches her daughter’s baby,
so she can shower and take care of her postpartum body.⁣
      ⁣
      She texts her forty-year-old son,
making sure he’s home safe from a wedding because knowing that is still the only way she can sleep well.⁣
      ⁣
She buys her thirty-four-year-old daughter Wetzel’s Pretzels when she goes to the mall,
because she knows how much her daughter loves them.⁣
      ⁣
      And no,
she no longer needs to do these things,⁣ but she does them anyway.⁣
      ⁣
Because a mother always wants to make life easier for her kids when she can⁣,
      even when they’re capable,
responsible humans and can do all the things for themselves.⁣
      ⁣
And she always wants to know they’re safe.⁣
      ⁣
Because mothering doesn’t stop when her kids turn eighteen,
      move far away,
      or have their own kids.⁣
      ⁣
      It just changes.⁣

Hi. I loved going to the Boardwalk in New London, Ct.. Also liked the area for changing from street clothes to a bathing suit. The Boardwalk had many delights. Ice cream (some soft served), a take out food area and on the other side the famous Merry-Go Round and the Dodgem Cars. Both places I thoroughly enjoyed. While dating hubby we used to walk to the other side to play mini golf and in the winter played the Arcade games. Some were free due to the offseason. For some reason he always let me win. LOL.. The parking lot was always full and there was never a charge to spend the day at the beach. Of course, today, it will cost you to park there. The beach was always full. The sand always hot to the bottom of your feet. The ocean always cold until you got used to it. As you meandered to the right you had huge rocks with mussels attached. The other side was for the people who lived in Waterford, Ct.. Many years later this spot became the venue for “Summer Music” on Thursdays. It was always something to look forward to. Bring a blanket or quilt and lay it on the ground and begin your own picnic. Sometimes we would bring a bottle of wine ,other times a soft drink. We met Yoyo Ma during intermission. Harry Belafonte (my favorite and still is), Canadian Brass. Empire Brass (another favorite). Rolf Smedvig started this group and today he is still my favorite horn player. His feeling for the composers really shines through. He doesn’t just play the notes, he feels them. These just to name a few. It was loads of fun and you had a choice. You could remain on the grounds or go into the tent for the show. We did both.

      @shoelady60

Great minds think alike. The cruise your sister is going on sounds delightful. February is a great month to put your feet up and to enjoy the ocean breezes. Our weather in Florida will be changing beginning tomorrow with temps approaching 70 degrees and by next week the 80s. Believe it or not, it is still not too late for you mom to change her mind. It will do her good to find a spot to sit and maybe read a book or two. Or she can completely relax by the pool. Your sister’s cabin may have an extra bed and packing can be done in an hour or two. Bet there is still room on the plane. You never know. Anyway, hubs and I always enjoyed a cruise in February. It was always a last minute thing to do after a harsh winter and before driving the 1350 miles North. I wish safe travels for your sister. Do not get off the ship if one of the stops is in Mexico. At least, not this time.

Woke up to a little more snow.❄️ Each day most of it melts and every morning it is white outside this week. The groundhog nailed his prediction.

Hockey game is tomorrow night and we lost our star player for the next month. Crosby got injured during the Olympics and found out today he will be out at least four weeks.😫 The season is over in April and might not make the playoffs without him.

Worked on taxes today since I won’t have a lot of time with sis gone. Still missing the Olympics. Have a cozy evening, sending big hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

We’re not just talking about sports, we’re also talking about the thrill of the rip (if you know, you know), the art of the trade, and that specific smell of a fresh pack of cards. Our question is: When was the last time you held a piece of cardboard that made you feel like a kid?

I am taking your advice and staying in to play a bit of catchup. Both homes in the North were deluged with more than 20″ of the white stuff. I know the entire Cape has no electricity, This also means that the gas is off in our home at the Cape so there will be no heat even after the electrical is turned on. Someone will need to reignite the pilot. Right now I am just hoping that the roofs on both homes do not cave in with the heavy snow. More snow expected tomorrow. All roads and highways leading to the Cape are closed. Yes, I do remember the blizzard of 76. I was working in New London Ct. which was approximately 14 miles door to door. When we awoke that morning hubs and I expected to see tons of snow. Instead there was beautiful sunshine and no cloud in the sky. We thought the weather people got it all wrong. Working in an office where the only windows were from the back and front doors, we had no idea what was going on. About 1pm that day the office was told to close. There was many inches of white already on the ground and on vehicles in the parking lot. I made a stop at McDonalds for Big Mac dinners and milkshakes for everyone at my mother-in-laws home. Hubby, at that time was on crutches for a knee injury and ended up staying at the house. We had help for him mom and the four of us welcomed the meal. I left while I could to make it to our apartment which was up a very steep hill. Thankfully, my car made it. At that time I had a tuxedo cat who was perched on my kitchen’s window sill trying to stay warm. And there I was for the next three or four days. Delivery of food, water and milk was by helicopter. Bread also and some other goodies. There was no way in or out, though hubs did make it to his office on the second day. I was told to go to the Norwich office, but there was no way in or out at the time. Hubs let it be known where I was and why I could not get out. Walking would not be OK. It was one snowdrift after another and besides it was very cold. Definitely not a good idea.

      @oodiebom,

Good Evening I hope you are able to have someone check out your property when
the snow melts a bit and can take an assessment with pictures. Oodie that is a lot
      to handle.

I am glad you had a me day that just means doing whatever needs to be done.

Some days you just need time to breathe. 😎

All that snow is a bit much for anyone to handle. Glad you are safe and in Florida. 😎
kick back and have a nice cup of tea and enjoy whatever you like. 💕

Oodie, You mentioned New London Ct. Oh my, memories. We used to go to the Boardwalk and beaches there when very young. I even remember an awesome Pool and Polka pavilion.
Hope you got to enjoy it as well! That storm sounds scary.

You must have had ESP yesterday. Sis is leaving on Friday for back to back cruises out of Florida. The first one is seven days and the second is ten days. Mom is not going. She feels that is a little too long at her age. I think she is a little scared after breaking her arm (she is doing well) and I think she feels sis won’t have a nice time if she has to babysit her.

Sheba, that movie sounds really good!
Not much snow boarding for my son this year so far. He hoped to go while in Spain but it was just too treacherous.
Been thinking about your relative and her friends South of the Border and not my business, but I sure hope they cross back for good.
      Have a good evening!

      @taci,

Good Evening my niece friends are all college educated and straight out of California.
Niece told me they had to move there due to rent and housing being too high.

I face-timed her last night she is safe in California and she is a professor at University
and so are some of her friends. These kids are paying off student loans and then some.
There are 100’s of them living there due to necessity. All the kids are 100% American
from all over the country. I hope they all stay safe. 💕

Here is to a relaxing evening I have loved Bob Mackie since he started dressing Cher who
can wear is couture fashions like no one. 😎💕

All is okay in the ‘burgh. We only got about two inches of snow in the last two days. No problems with roads or power.

Spent the day with mom and sis. Got our nails done and had lunch.💅 Sis is leaving Friday for back to back cruises out of Florida.🛳️ First one is seven days and the second is ten days. She’ll be back the third week of March so I will be very busy for a few weeks.

Hope you’re getting a touch of Spring and your cold is gone. Sending warm hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
