Conversation 27
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 27 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.😎🎈
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

Peace Out Peeps enjoy your evening. 😎

Luck Be a Lady
Song by Frank SinatraThey call you Lady Luck
But there is room for doubt
At times, you’ve had a very unlady-like way of running out
You’re on this date with me
The Pickens have been lush
And yet before this evening is over
You might give me the brush
You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck if you’ve ever been a lady to begin with, luck be a lady tonight
Luck let a gentleman see
How nice a dame you can be
I know the way you’ve treated other guys you’ve been with
Luck, be a lady with me
A lady doesn’t leave her escort
It isn’t fair, it isn’t nice
A lady doesn’t wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy’s dice
Let’s keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick me with me baby, I’m the fella you came in with
Luck, be a lady tonight
Luck, let a gentleman see
Just how nice, how nice a dame you can be
I know the way you’ve treated other guys you’ve been with
Luck be a lady with me
A lady doesn’t leave her escort
It isn’t fair, and it’s not nice
A lady doesn’t wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy’s dice
So let’s keep the party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I’m the guy that you came in with
Luck be a lady
Luck be a lady
Luck be a lady, tonight -

NATIONAL CHILD’S DAY
November 20th each year recognizes National Child’s Day and all the potential represented by our children’s ambitions, dreams, and goals. Through educational goals, STEAM projects, and academic missions, educators and families join forces to provide excellence at all levels of education.
Education begins at home, and by providing parents with resources vital to growing minds, we encourage curiosity and brain development. From the day they are born their education begins. Language and social skills are essential building blocks to any child’s early education.
Schools and educators are investing in science, math, and arts programs. As technology becomes a more integral part of our lives, innovation drives education as well as nearly every career in the world. No matter where our children’s interests lie, technology will advance the way we learn, heal, communicate, travel, change, and protect the world. Our children will be the innovators of the future. All we need to do is give them the education and the tools to dream and learn to their fullest potential. National Child’s Day inspires communities, educators, and parents to do just that.

Good evening Sheba 🍁🍁🍂🍂🍂
It’s still a warm evening here. Today the humidity was 83 percent. Temperatures are supposed to go down in the following days. Like into the mid to low forties. Time to get my winter bed coverings out 😂. It’ only for three nights.
I am still decorating for Christmas. Had hubby take down some huge storage bins in the garage and found a bunch of Thanksgiving decorations. But I am skipping decorading for Thanksgiving this year and going straight to Christmas.
Not sure what I am cooking for Thanksgiving. I don’t like turkey and neither does hubby. We do eat a small piece of the breast, should we go to Thanksgiving dinner at a friend’s house.Take care Sheba 🌹🌹
-
Good Evening and i want to wish you a Merry Christmas. 💕I am not decorating for
Thanksgiving just getting things together because Thanksgiving is next week and I am
good. 😎This weekend will be a busy one for me. Enjoy your evening.
-
Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 🎈😎I hope your Van is good to go.
Oz did not get the snow that was predicted I am happy about that we have the Sun.I am hoping you got all your shopping done that you needed.
Enjoy the visit with your husband. 💕😎
Let me know how you are doing today and I loved reading about your adventures in
Upstate New York one of my favorite places. 💕😎🎈 -
When I was single, I started going to the Catskills for singles weekend. My first stop was Grossingers which was at the beginning of the “Borscht Belt.” There were many not so known entertainers back then that got their start in this area. Many were comedians such as Alan King,
Totie Fields, Danny Kaye, Red Buttons, just to name a few. The weekends were bright and the rooms were huge by our standard of hotel rooms today. The atmosphere was always warm and inviting. OMG the food. There were always seconds and thirds and if another dish appealed to you, a snap of a finger brought it to your side. There were ways to meet other people. Simon Sez comes to mind as well as a meet and greet with appetizers and soft drinks. Dancing was always on the agenda and if you didn’t know the steps, there was always someone to show you how. This was the way it was not only at Grossingers, but the Concord and the Pines as well. All offered different amenities to get the $$ from anyone. The drive. Ever so beautiful through winding uphill roads. The scenery breathtaking at every corner. Hubby and I often took a weekend to the Pines. It was a three hour drive with a stop at our favorite restaurant in NY.. It was a diner but no counter or stools. They had booths and tables and sometimes you had a choice. Just like the Catskills you had mountains of food and a huge takeout to put leftovers into. This restaurant is a stop even today on our way North or South. And still the mountains of food. Last time we were there I ordered a Corned beef. There had to be at least a pound of meat and cheese on that homemade rye bread. I couldn’t finish that sandwich. It lasted three days going South which included the salad and cole slaw and FF. .Luckily we had a refrigerator for the car that was a plug in.
If I remember correctly, Middletown was the beginning of our driver upward and onward. That beginning used to have trees and other things to ooh and ahh over. Today, both sides are shopping areas. The Galleria on the right are mall stores. We did make a stop there once and found it to be OK. The other side is also a line of stores and businesses. We stopped for gas once or twice in that area. Often we had said we will go back to the area. It is not out of the way North either. We bypass the two exits to get you there. We always say maybe. on the way South. But, that diner, it is always waiting and beckoning to us on our long drive.
I made it to the Farmer’s Market following the doctor’s appointment. My labs, like yours, were thru the roof. Even after all I have been through. Amazing. Now to put the groceries away. Yuk!!
-
Oodie, Love your stories. Was the Concord in the Catskills? Was it a Hotel? Sounds like you and your hubs had a lot of fun.
-
I love hearing about those trips. 😎💕🎈Good Times. Oz is chilly tonight and
we will have a hard freeze in the morning. Also trash and recyclables will be at curb early. I have to make sure the cats are feed.
I gave a little extra food tonight to make sure they stay warm. The weather is cray cray
it will be warm for three next week and maybe some snow on Thanksgiving. 💕My daughter’s friend lives on a farm in Vermont. I have pictures and it is a beautiful area.
Oodieom on the road again. 🎶🎶
-
Good day in S. California. 🎈😎I am multi-tasking today. Oz is never boring for long.
Taci have you received your beautiful find yet? I hope it is just right.
I do have the large Curios but I also have the smaller boxes and I have shown them
on the Heidi Daus Thread they are beautiful. 💕I use all of my boxes. LOL!Poppy and I have been enjoying the sunshine and no snow. 💕😎
Wishing you Happy Trails. 🎈😘 Taci I love hearing about the Amber Trail this is so
amazing. -
Sheba, Glad you and Poppy had a good walk without the snow. Sorry I didn’t mention the Basilica picture you posted yesterday. OK, where is it located? I could not place it. Hopefully I am not embarrassing myself.
My cream colored CL Prestige box arrived today. It looks pretty and is light colored so I see everything in it easily. I did Mcgyver it a bit. I added ring rolls under the earring board and put most of my rings in there. I ripped the ring rolls from the old box which was a good thing as a tiny pendant piece was underneath ( it wasn’t a CL box). Maybe that’s where some of my tiny lost earrings went?
Are you cooking for Thanksgiving? I ordered take-out from the same local place as last year. That way it will be easy, convenient and calm.
HD tomorrow! -
Hi and a good evening to you. Yes, the Concord was in the Catskills. A beautiful hotel off the main road for some miles. The Concord was my favorite. I did meet someone from my hometown there and we both had fun with a horseback ride through the mountains. The smell of pine trees still remind me of those days. The Concord had many amenities. A huge pool beckoned you if it was warm enough and they had a lake for rowing or just sitting to take in the views. Before heading home we made several stops for plants and some planters that you never see anywhere else. Prices were high, but the beauty was all around and those planters I still have to this day.
Many years later the Borscht Belt died and people stopped going to the resorts. New businesses opened and there were rumors that the area would house hotels such as seen in Vegas. I’m not sure if that ever materialized. It would be fun someday to take a ride through the Catskills just to see what’s there. It’s funny, hubby and I were discussing that area tonight. But right now a cruise wouldn’t be so bad. I need to wait and see what hubby can do and not do to make a decision.
Hope you are finally settling down after that glorious trip. Not sure if I will bake a turkey this year, though hubby is asking for home cooked things. I always purchase a fresh turkey and it takes about 3 hours to cook all the way through. It is something I have always enjoyed. And this year, for the first time in Florida, I am seeing fresh cranberries that are not packaged. The taste or should I say the flavor is so different when you purchase it that way. Cranberry and Orange relish comes to mind. Takes just minutes to make and so delicious with the turkey. Our Farmer’s Market has chestnuts this year. But at $8.99/lb it becomes sticker shock. The fresh ones in the northeast run about $.50/lb even now. If you find some in your area they are sweet and delicious. Hard part is getting them out of the shell. I usually put an X on both sides using a good sharp knife. You don’t need to go all the way down to the other side. Just do enough to cut through the shell. Then I nuke it for a minute and when you take them out, the shell splits open and you can then enjoy the fruits of your labor. Boiling is another option. I may swallow my pride and buy a few for next week. They tasted even better when walking the streets in NYC during the winter months and you could get a bag full from a vendor on the street. But that’s another story.
-
Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh. I have a busy day in OZ. This is like the ole saying always
something. LOL! 😎I hope you husband had a good time at the Hockey Game last night. No worries I am
sure they will bounce back. Hey my team has to bounce back from last week.I did not know the kind of cancer your friend’s husband had and this is not good.
My SIL is in chemo as I type this post. Lady our entire family is heartbroken. So life moves on and you hope for the best. 💕
I know you would never in a million years eat the goodies above but we can look at it. 😘
Sending sunny hugs to you and Jake my friend. 😎💕🎈
-
Lucky you, no snow!! Tomorrow and Friday are what our weather people call “first alert” days for us. I am right on the edge of the 1-3″ range. Highs only around 40 but at least that’s above freezing. Colder than it’s been but I always say at least I can drive through cold.🥶 We shall see.
In a million years, yes, I would definitely try those drinks, yum!😊 But I know I would never finish them so you can help me, lol!😂
Today was laundry day, doing this and that between loads. Having chicken for dinner and waiting for the severe thunderstorm to hit before the snowstorm, how exciting. I will be watching trees.🌳
Sending rainy, snowy hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
-
Good evening we are chilly in OZ tonight and will have a hard freeze in the morning.
Lady we made the same main dish I made boneless skinless chicken in the oven and it
was so good I had backed potatoes and a salad hubby ate it up when he got home from
work. 💕Poppy wanted a piece so I gave him a small piece.
Well the holidays are about to start and so many of us will be doing this and that. 😎
I will have one of the treats with you who cares I can always walk it off. LOL! 😘
Sweet dreams💕

The Promise of a New Day
Song by Paula AbdulEagle’s calling and he’s calling your name
Tides are turning, bringing winds of change
Why do I feel this way?
The promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
As through time the earth moves under my feet
One step closer to make love complete
What has the final say?
The promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise
And so time over time
What will change the world?
No one knows (no one knows)
So the only promise is a day to live, to give
And share with one another
See the wisdom from mistakes in our past
Hear the younger generation ask
“Why do I feel this way?”
The promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day (a new day)
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
We can, we can make it better, baby
So time over time
What will change the world?
No one knows (no one knows)
So the only promise is a day to live, to give
And share with one another
Eagle’s calling and he’s calling your name
Tides are turning, bringing winds of change
Why do I feel this way
The promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
As through time the earth moves under my feet
One step closer to make love complete
What has the final say?
The promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
Oh, promise me (the promise, the promise of a new day)
A new day (the promise, the promise of a new day)
A new day (the promise, the promise of a new day)
See the wisdom from mistakes in our past
Hear the younger generation ask
“What has the final say?”
The promise of a new day
(The promise, the promise of a new day)
Eagle’s calling and he’s calling your name
Tides are turning, bringing winds of change
Why do I feel this way?
The promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
The promise, the promise of a new day
Why do I feel this way? Hey
The promise, the promise of a new day
Eagle’s calling, and he’s calling your name (the promise, the promise of a new day)
Tides are turning, bringing winds of change (the promise, the promise of a new day)
(The promise, the promise of a new day)
As through time the earth moves under my feet (the promise, the promise of a new day)
(The promise, the promise of a new day)
One step closer to love (the promise, the promise of a new day)

NATIONAL CARBONATED BEVERAGE WITH CAFFEINE DAY
Unique food holidays, such as National Carbonated Beverage With Caffeine Day, give us opportunities to break out of our everyday norms. On November 19th, explore the variety of carbonated beverages with caffeine.
Some people cannot have caffeine due to medical reasons, and others choose to avoid caffeine as a personal choice. Then there are the millions of people who reach for the caffeine every morning and sometimes all day long. The same applies to carbonated beverages. Today’s celebration combines the two of them.
-
NATIONAL PLAY MONOPOLY DAY
National Play Monopoly Day on November 19th recognizes the iconic board game that lands us on Park Place, Boardwalk or even in jail.
Known as one of the most popular board games in the world, Monopoly was originally based on a board game designed by Elizabeth Magie in 1902. Since then, the game has been played by an estimated 500 million people since 1935.

Good morning in Ohio wishing you and all a nice Tuesday. 🎈😎
-
Good day in Florida and may this be a good Tuesday for you. 😎🎈OZ is perfect today
we are in the 50’s. 💕This will not last long as we are predicted to have snow tomorrow.I hope your home looks and feel really nice getting ready for the holidays. 💕😎🎈
-
Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 🎈I hope you get your much needed rain.
Oz is predicted to have snow. So let it blow. LOL!So sorry about the tire problems glad it is resolved that is what I like one and done.
I am not too happy about your husband sitting on the side of the bed. My dad did that
and he had a couple of bad falls. I am glad you caught him in time. I know what you are
dealing with we kept all eyes on dad we he was in the hospital.Speaking of rain I had to go out yesterday and I could barely see I mean it was massive
rain. I have to say my plants look as if I did them in May. 💕😎Your meal sounds good I hope you and hubby enjoyed it. 💕
I found your cat and dog comment funny because if it is extreme cold and ice their little
feet need to be protected. Ah no Poppy do not like it but at least he tiny feet will not freeze.
At least when Poppy goes to backyard I just let him run free he knows his little spot. LOL!
I do have a treadmill in the family room so if the snow is real bad I will get on my treadmill. One of our daughters at an interesting weekend she was in Vermont visiting a friend.
This friend lost her dear mother in May she was only in her 60’s past suddenly. My daughter
and her friend drove to upstate New York. They had her mother’s ashes and part of it
was left in Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskills of Greene County. The pictures were just beautiful.
The friend is from that area. I have a lot going on but I take it one day at a time.Oodie be safe out there and thank goodness you have a new tire.
-
Getting ready for a shower, however, I had two flats within a week. The first one was beyond
repair and the second one was taken care of.When I was single we had a few poodles. Not all at once. The first one was Petey and he was so cute. Almond colored. My mom took him to a person for his first haircut. He was killed while in the groomers hands. The second was Dory. Named after the novel and picture, “Dorian Gray.”. He was on the timid side. Gray in color. We had him for 15 years. The last one was Corky. A black poodle. He received his name because he always jumped like a cork in a bottle. He was the most fun. Loved playing hide and seek with him. Didn’t take him long to find my hiding places. All poodles were toys and it was one species that I was not allergic to.
I love Vermont and the Catskills. Most beautiful country. I remember driving with hubby to a family function in Vermont. It was just after a snowfall. We thought we were in the clouds because the electrical wires were sitting atop of the snow as we headed to our destination. I also enjoyed stopping at various out of the way places to pick up odds and ends. However, one place always stood out and that was the Vermont Country Store. They are still in business and not a tourist trap. They have quite a few things that were sold in the 1800s that I still get a kick out of. One was their nightshirts. Of course they are also known for their maple syrup. They are online and some of their products are still the same price as years ago.
Maine is another area we both love. We enjoyed taking Route 1 through the ocean area. I remember on our last visit I had a yen for lobster. Each restaurant we past had a sign with a price. In those days Lobster was from Maine. Today I am not that sure since the Atlantic has warmed up quite a bit. My understanding is that many migrated to Canada. We did an overnight in Maine the week of September 11th. We were on our way to Nova Scotia and a Catamaran ride to Yarmouth. We were with another couple, in separate vehicles, though we stayed at the same hotel. The Catamaran people parked our cars below deck while we enjoyed the ride above. Our friends followed the scenic route while we did the other way which was faster. Wow, what I can say about Canada. Nova Scotia is gorgeous and though it was the middle of September, it was cold and clammy. The people were friendly and welcomed us with open arms. It was only five days following the horrific unthinkable day of September 11th. Our favorite places to eat was on the Wharf. The smell of the sea and the fresh fish reminded both of us of our first home on a tiny island in NY.. I love Canada and wouldn’t mind returning one day in the not so distant future. It was great walking up and down their streets. Many hills, but people reached out to us and made our sightseeing by foot something to remember many years later.
It is so beautiful and so scenic no matter where in Canada you go. -
Good evening I love upstate New York. 💕🎈😎I have been to Canada and it was an adventure
nothing dull about that country. 💕😎Oodie did you ever eat at the Restaurant that revolves
so you can see the Falls? Seafood was their best meal. I love that place. The flowers and gardens
were so beautiful. 💕This was an awesome sight to behold. 😎💕I was underneath the falls you have to put on
black raincoats to stand on the ledge to watch the falls come over. I saw some people in
boats and I was not ready for that but I am now. LOL!I hope you see the moon tonight drive safe. 😘
-
Good morning in S. California and I hope you are enjoying your coffee. 💕🎈😎
Here is to a nice Tuesday. I did read your post from last night and the Amber
Trail sounds amazing. I am a museum girl I would love to visit and see all the sights. What stories you have to tell around the dinner table. 💕🎈
Daughter was in upstate New York helping a friend out it’s a long story.
I am so glad she was there for her. The girls drove from Vermont to the Catskills
and spread her mother’s ashes t Kaaterskill Falls. The pictures she sent me were so
beautiful and peaceful. 💕Glad you order the Colleen Jewelry Box I hope you really like it. 💕
Well snow tomorrow at least that is what they are saying we shall see.
Does this look familiar? Taci you had the trip of a lifetime. 😎😘
Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶
-
Sheba, you would love all the museums. Some were really historically dark and horrid but reflected the history in an educational manner. Well worth the visit. You would love the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, especially the jewelry by Renee Lalique.
Your daughter sounds like a good friend. It’s nice she was able to go with her friend and distribute the ashes. Your Kids are comfortable traveling. Wonder did Vermont have snow yet?
Isn’t Vermont a State that needs young people to move there to work? I think I read a while back they offer a payment to move there.
The box arrives tomorrow. Oodie and I will have to compare notes. I know you have large armoires for your treasures. -
Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh. 😘😘🎈Oz is beautiful today after the hard rains we had
yesterday. Well they say we will have snow tomorrow. We shall see how much.I am rooting for your Hockey Team tonight and may it be a good game. 🎈😘😎
How is your friend’s husband doing? My family is taking it one day at a time.
Hey enjoy this day before the weather really changes.
Sending warm vibes to you and Jake. 😘🎈😎
-
Hi to you this afternoon. Dreary with a light rain but still warm. Cold coming tomorrow night with snow showers Thursday and Friday.❄
My friend’s husband has good and bad days, same cancer as your family member. It’s been a year now and not much left they can do. Saying prayers every day and I will include your family.🙏🙏
Hubs will be at the game tonight with his buddy. I’ve pretty much given up on going because they haven’t looked good for a few years. Plus there is a lot of walking up and down steps since the seats are 12 rows off the ice so not good on the knees.🦵 But he still likes watching a live game. I will enjoy my relaxing time on the couch with a beverage.
Stay warm, hope you don’t get a lot of snow. Hugs to you and beautiful Poppy.🤗💖

MICKEY MOUSE BIRTHDAY
On November 18th, Mickey Mouse Birthday commemorates the debut of a lovable mouse that was once a rabbit called Oswald. His character got his start on film on November 18, 1928, but before that, the story begins in 1927, when Walt Disney first sketched a floppy-eared bunny while under contract to Universal Studios. The events that unraveled brought us Mickey Mouse.

The Sound of Silence
Song by Simon & GarfunkelHello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
“Fools” said I, “You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence” -

On Saturday, while visiting hubby had another flat tire. Called triple yesterday and the person who came did not have the right implements so all he did was put air in the tires. Once he left, I went to see hubby. I didn’t have time to shop so ordered out to our favorite Italian restaurant for a small salad, French fries and meatball sub. I went to the reception area to wait for the driver and when I returned found hubby sitting on the edge of the bed. He isn’t supposed to do this unless there is an aide present. No, he didn’t use the buzzer or call button. Thought he could do it himself. What he wanted was to get to the closet for some slacks. His legs were cold. I went to the closet and found a pair and he insisted to dress himself. He did great. Of course I used the buzzer to contact the aide and within seconds he was in the room. Of course this was our favorite aide who admonished him for doing something on his own while laughing at the same time. Hubby did the same thing today. When I arrived he was again sitting at the edge of the bed trying to get to the closet for his PJs. This time I helped him back to bed and got what he wanted.
At 11am this morning I contacted Triple again for the flat tire. This time they said I had used up my time on the flat and then I mentioned what happened the day prior. The Agent had to contact her/his supervisor and they put another order in without a problem. My doctor’s appointment was for this afternoon and I had to cancel because of the flat and triple wasn’t sure when someone could come out. Well, triple arrived around 3 pm and added air and also looked at the tire. There was a nail embedded that was causing the problem. I drove to Firestone rather than Costco due to distance. They were able to repair the tire and now I am a happy person. At least for now. The doctor appointment is now for Wednesday morning. Not sure if I will need to cancel. We are supposed to get some much needed rain. Just uncertain as to whether there will be downpours where you cannot see anything in front of you . I will make that decision tomorrow.
The moon was gorgeous on my way home. I felt protected as it followed me home. Have a nice evening. I don’t think any dog or cat like wearing booties no matter the reason.
-
Oodie, So happy to hear the Prestige boxes work for you. I was a little worried when I read the one review recently left. I don’t expect the anti tarnish to last forever but I’m glad yours are still working.
Sorry about your flat tire. Will take a look at Wallmart but really don’t need too much.
We finally had our 1st good cup of coffee since our return from Vac. -
Good morning in S. California. 😎😘🎈Oz is having some good rain.
Mr. Poppy have no problem walking in the rain. 🎈😘Taci cold, snow and heat is what he
do not like. I have to put shoes on his little feet.If you see these beauties along the way just smile. 😎
Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶

Sheba, Poppy’s stand-in for the picture is adorable. Dog and Cat fashion is so fun! I saw a short video where a dog has baby bright green croc’s on his paws. Coincidentally, my son had the same color Crocs in boots as a young kid.
Spent some time yesterday cleaning the coffee maker and diagnosing its issue(s). It had a good run of many years, probably too many. We ran out for a new one and had some good coffee this morning.
I purchased the Colleen’s Prestige™ 3-Layer Jewelry Box in cream. It’s a newer version. all 3 drawers in one piece as opposed to separate boxes. I am waiting for the smaller sized boxes but took the plunge, since they don’t seem to be arriving anytime soon. Hoping to consolidate some items, cleaned a lot of jewelry in advance, and posted some to sell. Honing things.
Btw, the Amber in Poland is lovely! Learned about the Amber trail and saw many pieces in museums. -
Thanks for the update on the Prestige box. I ordered one as well. I have enjoyed these jewelry boxes for years and thus far, “knock on wood,” everything is tarnished free. They look brand new. By the way, if you are still looking for overnight bags, suggest you look at Walmart. Quite a few choices all on sale.

Hi in rainy Oz.🌧 Whatever you have is coming our way. Hubs put the outside Christmas decorations up today🎋 since it’s supposed to maybe rain tomorrow and get cold by Thursday. In the 60s today so that worked for him. Probably won’t light up until Thanksgiving.
Chiefs will bounce back next week, no problem. They always find a way.👍 Kitty and bunny pics are darling.💗
Glad you got the leaves done.🍁🍂 They always seem never-ending since they all don’t fall at the same time. Remember, two bushes at the next house, lol!
Have a nice evening, warm hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

NATIONAL BAKLAVA DAY
On November 17th, National Baklava Day fills the kitchen with an aroma of a sweet and flaky pastry. Baklava’s sweet layers of texture and flavor are created between sheets of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and drizzled with syrup or honey.
Many believe Baklava to have originated with the Turkic people in Central Asian nations. However, many countries prepare the dessert in a variety of ways. The word “Baklava” first appeared in English in 1650.
If you’ve never tried baklava, try sampling the many varieties. Walnuts, pecans, pistachios, or almonds can be used. The filling can be composed of raisins, dates, prunes, and even figs. Most baklava recipes call for cinnamon, cardamom, or cloves – sometimes all three spices.
Preparing this dessert may be somewhat time-consuming. However, it is a treat worth the work and the wait.
-
NATIONAL BUTTER DAY
Few ingredients make a meal richer and more flavorful than butter. On November 17th, National Butter Day gives this creamy ingredient, and those who make it, a pat on the back.
Butter has been used by humans for thousands of years. As recently as the first half of the last century, the butter churn was an essential tool in many kitchens. When butter was rationed during World War II, households struggled to get along without this delicious staple.
Butter can be used in simple and complex ways – spread a pat of butter on warm toast for an instant hit of flavor and texture or use it to create the light, flaky layers in a croissant. It also enhances the mouthfeel of hot drinks, like coffee and cocktails, and it keeps meats tender while roasting. Butter is the crucial ingredient in mouthwatering sauces, rich cookies, creamy mashed potatoes, hearty casseroles, and so much more.
The average American eats 6.3 pounds, or about 25 sticks, of cow’s butter every year. Around the world, butter can be found in cuisines of every culture, and each one uses it to enhance their recipes and enrich their lives.
Around the dinner table, the phrase “Please, pass the butter,” connects us to those we break bread with and to the food we love to eat. National Butter Day invites you to celebrate your favorite dishes and baked goods with butter.
-
NATIONAL HOMEMADE BREAD DAY
On November 17th, homes will fill with warm, comforting aromas reminding us to slow down and enjoy National Homemade Bread Day.
Yeast bread calls for us to slow down. We need to spend time with each other as we work the dough and let it rest and rise before baking. Quick breads allow a special treat to share and enjoy with coffee or tea. Other homemade breads, such as donuts, pretzels, muffins, and biscuits, add variety to our everyday meals. And making them with friends and family brings joy and an opportunity to exchange recipes.
Those who make homemade bread commit to using good ingredients and investing in the time. They make it not only because they love the flavor, but because they know the people they love to do also. Homemade bread enriches the flavors of our meals and the flavors of our conversations, too.
Bread is full of symbolism around the world, across cultures and religions. In our lives, bread is valuable. We consider our livelihood to be our daily bread. We are making it, breaking it, consuming it as part of our faith. Bread can be exciting if it’s sliced or boring if it’s white. There’s a bonus bread, too. However, it seems a bit messy if it’s buttered on both sides. Then again, when we roll in the dough, it’s messy, too. Bake it, and it becomes heavy bread, but it means the same thing.
-
NATIONAL TAKE A HIKE DAY
National Take a Hike Day on November 17th encourages us to get out there and hit the trails. With over 60,000 miles of trails in the National Trail System across the 50 states, there is no lack of opportunity to take a hike.
Some of those trails are hundreds of years old. For example, the oldest continuously used trail in the United States is Crawford Pathin New Hampshire. The beginnings of the mountain path were cleared to the summit of Mt. Washington in 1819. Other trails allow us to follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark or explore even more ancient history like Effigy Mounds National Monument.
Besides experiencing majestic views and the great outdoors, we also exercise our bodies. Hiking not only gets our hearts pumping and our muscles moving, but being outdoors is good for our minds. Many of us spend too much time indoors behind a desk. Hiking can burn between 400-550 calories per hour. What better way to get a head start on all those ‘other’ holiday temptations and observe Take a Hike Day?
Events around the country celebrate Take a Hike Day. Local, state and National Parks support hiking events encouraging us to enjoy a hike. Be sure to wear good shoes, take a snack and bring a buddy, but get out there and enjoy the fresh air, scenery and get a little exercise to boot!

Good day in Ohio wishing you a wonderful Fall Saturday. 🎈😎😘

Good afternoon in Sunny Florida and I do hope you have some wonderful rain. 😎
Oz is very nice today with lots of Sun. Soon we will have snow later in the week.
-
Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida and may this Fall Saturday find you doing well. 😎😘🎈
Oodie OZ will have snow next week at some point and time. Well so much for Fall. LOL!
Today is beautiful and the moon was amazing last night and I hope to catch again today. 😎
I sleep like a baby when the moon is full and bright.Enjoy your visit with your husband. 💕
-
Our prayers have been answered. We will not see Sara as a hurricane but as a rain event on Wednesday. We definitely could use the showers since we have not seen a drop since Helene visited our area. Milton was a wind event with little or no rain included. I’ve been using the sprinkler on the plants and will be doing same tomorrow.
Did not go shopping and hopefully, will do that Monday or Tuesday. My doctor’s appointment is Monday afternoon and this time I do have a couple of concerns, though nothing alarming. Just the usual sinus migraines and aches and pains. In other words, nothing earth shattering.
Hubby was in a talkative mood yesterday. I could not get a word in the entire time. The aide came in during his on going monologue and gave him an earful. From that moment on all I could do was laugh. The two of them going from one thing to another had me rolling in my seat. Today, totally different. I arrived an hour late and he was sound asleep. Nothing I could do to arouse him, even for a couple of minutes. The RN came in just before I left with some meds and she had some problems as well. I now wonder if the physician put him back on one of the meds that made him sleepy. I will check that out tomorrow. Our aide was MIA today, hopefully he will be back tomorrow.
The weather is finally changing. It is a bit cooler and now I need to think long sleeves. After Wednesday, our temps will be lucky to see 70. Nighttime temps will be in the 50s. Finally getting the temps that I crave. Now I will be able to work outside and do some trim work.
Kind of early for a snow event. Guess you will need to get that shed ready for the kitties and your flowers will have to be inside. Hope you three have a nice evening and a good walk in the moonlight with Poppy.
-
Good evening and I am glad you had a great afternoon visit. 😎😘🎈
I love my dog so much. 💕😎😘
I am sure the Aide just took a day off. I hope you see him soon.
Oodiebom enjoy your evening and relax with some tea along with Manuka Honey. 😘💕😎
Going on for now we will have rain at some point and time tonight. I am jumping into
the shower and just realx hubby is already in bed sound asleep. LOL!Sweet Dreams. 💕

Good morning in S. California. OZ is going to get hit with some snow next week.
I may put Poppy snow shoes on so he does not get his feet cold. 💕😎Oz is beautiful today and hubby and I are looking forward to the full moon tonight.
Hey Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶😘I love singing that to you.
-
Sheba, You and Poppy will be styling in your snow shoes! The picture posted is my back yard. The humming birds love the 2 bird-of-paradise plants by my sliding door. We had some neighbors over and were at the table in the back yard and were getting buzzed constantly. I was surprised they weren’t afraid of us. They are beauties.
Sorry about your close family member’s cancer. My Dad had it. -
Good Evening I am so glad you like the Hummingbirds. 💕I have them in my backyard.
My neighbor has like 10 bird feeders out so I never have to feed them. They are beauties.Thank you for thinking of my relative this is hard for the whole family and one we have dealt
with before. I lost my cousin who was barely 50 and she had a young child. This is one
the hardest to fight but fight we will.Oz is lovely tonight and all that will change in a few days. I am thankful for the beauty we
do have we have lawn and brush pick up next week so hubby has been doing some yard
work and I get a workout too. My nuclear plants are still blooming like it’s springtime that is
due to the fact we have a lot of sun. I am the only one with beautiful flowers. Oops!I treated myself to some beauty treatments today and I feel great. 💕I had a nice facial
and I had my eye brows threaded. I like a clean smooth arch I look like a different person
and I felt alive. My skin was just glowing. I treated myself to some skin products as well.
I love Dimitri and this will last a while if you take care of your skin your skin will take care of
you. 💕Taci enjoy your evening and your birds hey if you can watch them in the Moonlight.
-
Dear Ladies. 💕💕This is how Poppy look sans his snow shoes. 😎💕
I love him so much.
When it is super cold and Poppy gets lost in snow. I carry him.
Best gift I ever received. 😘💕😎
-
Taci, thanks for your kind thoughts. I see you’ve been there, done that. Love those hummingbirds. They are so fascinating to watch. One of these years I will buy a feeder.

Good afternoon in Oz. Have my soup cooking for dinner and the Italian bread sliced.🥣🍞
Happy the game is later since I will be able to see it this week. When we are at home they do not televise another game at the same time. This one could be a little tough but I have confidence.🤞 Have a drink and try not to stress, lol!
That snow you’re getting may be here by Thursday/Friday.❄ Not ready for it. Sending warm hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
-
Good Evening and I hope you are loving your soup and bread sounds so good. 💕
Lady I love soup I grew up on it and it helps keep those calories in check. I may make
a nice batch of Beef Stew with lean cuts of beef. I put it in my slow cooker and let it
simmer and cook for over eight hours on low. The house smells good all day. 😎💕Lady I am not stress just excited as you know we are getting close and the closer we
get the more excited this area becomes and it’s not just me. I will be relax because I can
always find something to keep me busy. LOL! Hubby and a buddy sometimes will watch
it for a while I stay out of the way because I can get loud! Poppy and I have a good time
watching in the family room. LOL!Let’s get this party started. Sweet Dream dear friend. 💕😘😎

The Moon Today: Waxing Gibbous.
The moon phase is currently waxing gibbous. This means that more of the moon’s dayside is visible, making it appear brighter in the sky. The waxing gibbous phase occurs between a half moon and a full moon.
Here are some other moon phases:
Full moon: The moon is completely illuminated.
Waning gibbous: The moon is between a full moon and a half moon.
New moon: The moon is between the Earth and the sun, making the moon’s surface appear dark.
The moon reflects light from the sun, rather than creating its own light. The moon can appear orange when it’s low on the horizon or when the sunlight appears orange before passing through the Earth’s atmosphere. -

NATIONAL CLEAN OUT YOUR REFRIGERATOR DAY
National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day on November 15th encourages us to prepare for the upcoming holidays. Get together a soap and hot water-filled bucket, disinfectant, a sponge, and a garbage bag. Then you will be ready for the day!
With family gathering and a large turkey waiting to be roasted, cleaning out the refrigerator makes sense. Not only will we need room before the meals, but we also need space for all of the upcoming leftovers. Many dread this job. However, it is an important task nonetheless.
Due to our hectic and busy lifestyles, the cleaning of the refrigerator gets neglected. Hence the creation of National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. There may be a surprise or two found at the back of the shelves. Things are often pushed back as new food is put in the front and gets forgotten.

NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY
On November 15th, National Philanthropy Day honors those who give back to their communities.
The word philanthropy comes from Latin and Greek philanthropia which gives us kindliness, humanity, and love for mankind. From this, we take the philo (tending to, fond of) and join antropos meaning mankind or human beings.

Sheba, Nice you and Poppy got to walk today! Hope Poppy can keep up with you 🙂
Love the coffee pictures. Haven’t had a decent cup since we got back. Hubs doesn’t want to do the cups because of the waste. I know there are reusables but he seems against it.
Ugh, will be coffee maker shopping soon.
Have a great weekend! -
Good Evening you can start looking at coffee makers right here on HSN.
This depends what both of you are looking for. I started drinking coffee later
in life I have only been drinking it for 10 years my husband has been drinking it
since his teens. LOL!I would spend a morning at Starbucks and taste and test some of their coffee.
Soon you will have develop a taste of coffee for me it’s all in the creamer. 💕
I got use to drinking it after going out in the cold and rain the coffee warmed me
up and it’s great to give a little boost of energy. 😎😘Hey remember to look up tonight it is beautiful. 💕
-
Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh. 💕😎I hope this Fall Friday is going well for you.
I have lots of iron in the fire. LOL!If you go to see your mom and sister enjoy the day. 🎈
This week flew by where did it go?
Sending sweet vibes to you and Jake. 😎🎈😘
-
Good afternoon friend. Cool, dreary day but it will get better.🌧 Trying to figure out what I want to make for dinner. I think tomorrow I will make some potato soup in the crockpot. Easy and there will be enough to freeze.
I have watched Tracker but not every week. Justin Hartley is one of my favorites all the way back to the soaps. I do miss This Is Us.☹ It was the one show I could not miss each week, so well written.
Had to laugh about the high heeled shoes.🤣 When I worked in the city, I wouldn’t be caught dead in flats. And I would run around every day on my lunch shopping. Now I can’t even walk down my hallway in them.😮 Did you ever have a pair labeled “wedding shoes”? Those were the ones that hurt and you would wear them when sitting a lot.
I think I told you awhile back that my best friend’s husband has cancer. I have been trying to lay low to give them ample time with family. And it’s hard to talk about anything else with her. Just want you to know that, in the future, if you don’t hear from me for a few days it will probably be because of him. Praying for a miracle.🙏
Enjoy your full moon walk this evening.🌕 Hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖
-
Good Evening Lady I understand all too well about cancer. If you need some time to help
your friend by all means do whatever you can to ease her pain. I will keep her husband in
my prayers I do prey for others. 💕I felt something was going on I was hoping it was not your sister or mother.
Lady I am dealing with family health matters one close family member has stage 3 pancreatic
cancer and going through all the chemo and the whole nine yards. This family member is
only in her 50’s. I don’t talk much about it because for the last ten years my family have been
getting hit left and right with one thing or another. Hence the reason this thread exists. So I
can just step away if only for a moment.Take it easy we are all getting ready for year end medical appointments and the holidays.
I am here if you need me rest well sweet friend. 💕😘Be sure to look up at the moon. -
Shoelady, Love hearing about the days you wore heels. Sounds fun you and also Sheba wearing them in the City.
Sorry to hear about your best friend’s husband. Wishing him the best. Cancer sucks.

Laura Branigan Lyrics
“Self Control”Oh, the night is my world
City light painted girl
In the day nothing matters
It’s the night time that flatters
In the night, no control
Through the wall something’s breaking
Wearing white as you’re walkin’
Down the street of my soulYou take my self, you take my self control
You got me livin’ only for the night
Before the morning comes, the story’s told
You take my self, you take my self controlAnother night, another day goes by
I never stop myself to wonder why
You help me to forget to play my role
You take my self, you take my self controlI, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven’t got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just believe it
That tomorrow never comesA safe night, I’m living in the forest of my dream
I know the night is not as it would seem
I must believe in something, so I’ll make myself believe it
This night will never goOh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-ohOh, the night is my world
City light painted girl
In the day nothing matters
It’s the night time that flattersI, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven’t got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just believe it
That tomorrow never knowsA safe night, I’m living in the forest of a dream
I know the night is not as it would seem
I must believe in something, so I’ll make myself believe it

Amy Winehouse – Back to Black (Vinyl) Here on HSN. 😘😎Valerie
Song by Amy WinehouseWell, sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing
And in my head I paint a picture
‘Cause since I’ve come on home
Well, my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won’t you come on over
Stop makin? a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over Valerie?
Did you have to go to jail
Put your house on up for sale
Did you get a good lawyer?
Hope you didn’t catch a tan
Hope you find the right man
Who’ll fix it for you
Are you shopping anywhere
Changed the color of your hair
Are you busy?
And did you have to pay that fine
You was dodging all the time
Are you still dizzy?
Since I’ve come on home
Well, my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won’t you come on over
Stop makin? a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over Valerie?
Well, sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you’re doing
And in my head I paint a picture? Cause since I’ve come on home
Well, my body’s been a mess
And I’ve missed your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won’t you come on over
Stop makin? a fool out of me
Why don’t you come on over Valerie?
Why don’t you come on over Valerie? -

Jennifer Hudson – The Gift of Love CD w/HSN Exclusive Bonus TrackJennifer Hudson Lyrics
“Auld Lang Syne”Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syneBut surely you’ll buy your pint cup
And surely I’ll buy mine
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syneWe two have paddled in the stream
From morning sun till dine
But seas between us broad have roared
Since auld lang syneOh
Auld lang syneOh, should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syneAuld lang syne
Auld lang syne -
