Conversation – 17
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

The Girl From Ipanema
Stan GetzTall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, each one she passes goes, ah
When she walks she’s like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gently
That when she passes, each one she passes goes, ah
Oh, but he watches so sadly
How can he tell her he loves her
Yes he would give his heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead, not at he
Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes he smiles, but she doesn’t see
Oh, but he sees her so sadly
How can he tell her he loves her
Yes, he would give his heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead, not at he
Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes he smiles, but she doesn’t see
She just doesn’t see
No she doesn’t see
But she doesn’t see -

I think our low temperatures will be in the 40s. Looks like another cold front for the weekend. I have everything we need in the second bedroom and a couple of jackets are in the van which I will bring in tonight or first thing in the morning. I had the heat on yesterday, but today everything is off. House is in the 70s. Back in the North we usually keep the temp between 60 and 65.
During these cold spells I do dress in layers. Sometimes I just start off with the spring/summer clothes and add as the weather changes. Other times it’s the other way around. In someways it is just like being up North. Only thing missing are the sleigh rides, snow of course and the sub freezing temps. I do not miss the temps, but used to love sitting in my den watching the snow gently float to the ground below. Today, I would call someone to shovel the walk and driveway.
I cannot believe that tomorrow is garbage and recycles. Since hubby is in dreamland I will put everything out either tonight or in the am. They come late morning so I have time. Friday is Trivia. I do hope we will some of the questions on line like we used to. I surmise HSN wants people to watch the tube rather than their computer. Too bad they cannot do it both ways like it used to be.
Have a great time the rest of the week. Stay warm. Be safe.
See you are up and about in the wee hours of the morning. Guess, i am the same way. However it was 6 am this morning when I finally went to bed all because of a book. Started it two days ago and finished it this am. It was a freebie from Amazon and I just could not drop it. Very easy read. I usually play the games in the Arcade until 1 or 2 am. So, I smiled when I read the time you actually saw my note.

Thanks so much for the update on your BIL. I know what it is like to be overweight. No fun. While hubby was hospitalized, it was a good time to start. The weight is coming off and I am happy. Doing the housework and cleaning inside and outside of cabinets and closets has kept me from being a couch potato. Besides, now, I am finding the energy returning. Doing exercises in a gym or a class is not my “cup of tea.” Putting a CD on and bouncing up and down keeps me limber. Well, at my age, what is limber????
I hope all goes well for your mom and sis. I am not concerned so much with the cruise as there are places to go and things to do. Main concern is the flight. Hope they have a great time and enjoy the beaches, the sightseeing, meeting the locals, etc. etc.. Wish I wasn’t a scaredy .cat.

@Sheba
Good Evening Sheba, are you keeping warm? I am sure you have a fire in your fireplace.
We were in the 60’s today and sunshine. But the 10 day look ahead puts us in the twenties at night this coming week.
My mom and I went back to Brazil for another visit in 1982. We stopped in Bahia first, its in the Northeast. We stayed just a little over a week and celebrated the new year there. A hotel just a few feet from the ocean. On December 30th at 4AM a huge truck opened in the back similar to a flatbed filled with people playing musicals instruments. Announcing a celebration of the new year on the beach that morning came down the street waking everyone up from their sleep. The streets was filled with excitement and people making noise that morning I was already awake, looking out the patio door. They had several booths on the beach that same morning with free food and drinks to the public. And a band with music, people eating, drinking and dancing the Samba. I found it so amazing, beautiful, entertaining and generous.
We met a family that invited us to their home for the 31st and celebrated with them.
That week the lady and her daughter took us around showing us the sites. We left Bahia and continued our trip onto to Porto Alegre. To be continued.
Stay warm and safe Sheba. Take care. -
@oodiebom
Hello Oodiebom, this morning around 3AM I read your post to me about two days ago.
You mentioned how you layer your clothing here in Florida to keep warm when it gets cold. Reminded me of when I lived in Virginia, I used to layer my my clothes too. I was looking at the ten day weather look ahead. Next Thursday night time temperature suppose to be 33 and Friday night, 28 😱😱😱 I sure hope they got that one wrong.
Stay safe and stay warm in these cold days we are about to have Oodie. -
My BIL lives here in the ‘burgh, SIL is in Atlanta. BIL’s problems all stem from a mine accident he was in many years ago. He has COPD, a pacemaker, now an ulcer. He is very overweight and does no exercises, although with this kidney problem he is on a special diet and has lost 25 pounds. So it’s one thing on top of another. He has had many cultures and blood samples sent out that I can’t even keep track anymore. So we just learned to take it one day at a time. My SIL (his wife) has earned her doctorate in medicine over the years. She can recite numbers/ranges on blood tests with the snap of the fingers. And my reply is “and that is for what?”🤣

Husband is going to a nearby restaurant for a birthday sandwich🍔 for one of the guys from his gym so I am having my leftover chili for dinner. Did some odds and ends around the house today. I am also missing my boy, I don’t think that will ever stop.😪🐕 I see so many commercials with dogs that make me think of him.
That drink looks delish!! Although just looking at it makes me cold. But, I want it so I’ll just turn up the heat.🔥 I have the BEST bartender!!🥰🤗

Learning to Slow Down
When we rush through our days and lives, we fail to notice the simple beauty of living.
Throughout our lives, we are taught to value speed and getting things done quickly. We learn that doing is more valuable than merely being, and that making the most of life is a matter of forging ahead at a hurried pace. Yet as we lurch forward in search of some elusive sense of fulfillment, we find ourselves feeling increasingly harried and disconnected. More importantly, we fail to notice the simple beauty of living. When we learn to slow down, we rediscover the significance of seemingly inconsequential aspects of life. Mealtimes become meditative celebrations of nourishment. A job well-done becomes a source of profound pleasure, no matter what the nature of our labors. In essence, we give ourselves the gift of time — time to indulge our curiosity, to enjoy the moment, to appreciate worldly wonders, to sit and think, to connect with others, and to explore our inner landscapes more fully.
A life savored slowly need not be passive, inefficient, or slothful. Conducting ourselves at a slower pace enables us to be selective in how we spend our time and to fully appreciate each passing moment. Slowness can even be a boon in situations that seem to demand haste. When we pace ourselves for even a few moments as we address urgent matters, we can center ourselves before moving ahead with our plans. Embracing simplicity allows us to gradually purge from our lives those commitments and activities that do not benefit us in some way. The extra time we consequently gain can seem like vast, empty stretches of wasted potential. But as we learn to slow down, we soon realize that eliminating unnecessary rapidity from our experiences allows us to fill that time in a constructive, fulfilling, and agreeable way. We can relish our morning rituals, linger over quality time with loved ones, immerse ourselves wholeheartedly in our work, and take advantage of opportunities to nurture ourselves every single day.
You may find it challenging to avoid giving in to the temptation to rush, particularly if you have acclimated to a world of split-second communication, cell phones, email and overflowing agendas. Yet the sense of continuous accomplishment you lose when you slow down will quickly be replaced by feelings of magnificent contentment. Your relaxed tempo will open your mind and heart to deeper levels of awareness that help you discover the true gloriousness of being alive. AMEN! ✨✨
