Good morning Oodie, I just finished reading your post you wrote me.
I hope you and your husband had a good weekend. Did you get to see the Eclipse? It was gorgeous. We had a thunderstorm earlier in the evening and it cleared up. So I was able to see it.
Oodiebom I think you are brave, I believe we all are at certain time in our lives. I get that strength at that right time, when is needed it the most.
Oodiebom this World is getting crazier each day, you be careful and be aware of your surroundings. I wish we lived closer so I could help in someway.

How about that gorgeous Moon. Around 7PM we has a big thunder storm, I was afraid that the skies would be cloudy. It cleared up and I was able to see the Eclipse.
I did trim our front bushes this weekend, just a little by hand not electric. And pulled some Bay leaves from my little tree. The rice water made that little tree give me some large leaves. And the tree is full of leaves the become large.
Dinner for me was pasta, and hubby had Lentils and veggies.

How often does a Super Flower Blood Moon happen?

On Sunday night, star-gazers across the planet will be treated to a lunar spectacle known as a Super Flower Blood Moon, lighting up the night sky with an eclipse.

But what actually is it, and how often does it occur? The slightly convoluted name can be split into constituent parts to give a better idea of exactly what we’re talking about here.

A ‘super’ moon occurs when the moon’s uneven orbit brings it particularly close to the earth, making it appear larger than normal in the sky. In the northern hemisphere a full moon that occurs in the spring is sometimes referred to as a ‘flower’ moon, because the event coincides with the blooming of many types of flowers. Finally, a ‘blood’ moon refers to the unusual red colouring as a lunar eclipse causes the earth to block the sun from the moon, changing the colour as viewed from earth.

How rare is a Super Flower Blood Moon?
Given that a Super Flower Blood Moon is a combination of unusual characteristics, the exact conditions required for such an event do not come around very often. Another flower moon will not occur until next spring, as we head into the summer months.

Lunar eclipses, the phenomenon that causes the red ‘blood moon’ colouring, happen about three times a year on average, but do not always line up with the full moon in spring.

Supermoons are based on the undulating orbit of the moon in relation to the earth, and happen at a rate that appears almost entirely random. On average there are around four supermoons in a year but they often happen in batches. Sunday’s supermoon will be the first of four consecutive months with the lunar spectacle.

All that means that we can’t expect another Super Flower Blood Moon for the remainder of 2022, and possibly a lot longer.

What is a supermoon?
Although this weekend’s event is accepted to be a supermoon, there is some dispute about the exact definition. The earliest definition of a supermoon comes from astrologer Richard Nolle who, in 1979, defined it as a full moon that comes within 90% of its closest point in the orbit to Earth.

Epsenak’s definition of supermoon fits the next four full moons: 16 May, 14 June, 13 July and 12 August. Given the orbital routine of the moon, this type of pattern is not particularly rare. Epsenak’s website says that 2023 will also see four consecutive supermoons, as will 2024.

The Super Flower Blood Moon lunar eclipse of 2022 occurs tonight! Here’s what to expect.

It’s time to watch the moon make a passage through Earth’s shadow.

The event, known as a lunar eclipse, will see the full Flower Moon temporarily turn red overnight on Sunday (May 15) and Monday (May 16), depending on where you are standing. You can watch the Flower Blood Moon eclipse in webcasts, starting at 9:30 p.m. EDT (0130 GMT).

While timing depends on your location, here’s when to look for the total eclipse. TimeandDate.com says the partial eclipse phase of the moon begins May 15 at 10:28 p.m. EDT (0228 GMT on May 16). The Blood Moon peak starts May 16 at 12:11 a.m. EDT (0411 GMT). Then the event ends at 1:55 a.m. EDT (0555 GMT).

Eclipse scientist Fred Espenak has listed May 15th’s full moon as a so-called supermoon, making this event extra special. The full moon is at its perigee (the closest approach to Earth of the month, in its orbit). So we’ll be seeing a slightly larger moon experience the Super Flower Blood Moon eclipse.

The total phase of the eclipse, which will see the moon skirt into the darkest umbral shadow from our planet, will take place from portions of the Americas, Antarctica, Europe, Africa and the east Pacific.

A penumbral eclipse is visible too, in New Zealand, eastern Europe and the Middle East. The moon will turn slightly darker as the penumbra, or the lighter shadow, of our planet is cast upon the surface. The penumbral eclipse, by the way, will begin about an hour earlier and end about an hour after the partial eclipse.

All going well with SIL visit. Day off today, husband golfing and I needed a rest from running.😌 We have not had rain for seven days and that is rare for the ‘burgh. A storm may pass through this evening/night but it will be spotty. It’s like summer in May. Sounds like you’ve been busy also. That pic under kittengirl looks just like my deck and flowers.🌺🌺🌺
