Conversation – 17

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Hi. It’s late afternoon and I am again going through the kitchen cabinets. I am missing some salad plates and have a feeling hubby may have packed them when he unloaded the dishwasher. Not to worry. I do go through the boxes for donations before loading into the van. These are the only things that are not found or put away.
The first Trivia question was a doosie. I am hoping someone will have the answer.
Hubby is scheduled for surgery next week. We have an afternoon appointment at the hospital on Monday. Tomorrow he goes off quite a few meds that will be restarted day of surgery. As far as I know at the moment, he will spend at least one night as a patient. One question I forgot to ask was about the physical therapy following surgery. We do have three steps to climb up and down that I question. However the other dates have been given to me and they are near Costco. I am all set otherwise. We have a walker which will be used for approximately two weeks. Also have a wheelchair if necessary. It will be at least 13 weeks before we will be able to drive North. That puts us into November, so not sure what we will end up doing. Suffice to say, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
Guess I will get back to the kitchen cabinets. Tomorrow, hopefully, the Master Bedroom. Hoping to see the light at the end of a long, long tunnel.
I think Shoelady has or had an appointment today. This morning I saw a huge V in the clouds. I am hoping that is my sign that is all is well for all of us (I’m including xango in this as well). No rain in sight until Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile mid 90s with humidity. Thank goodness for air conditioning in our vehicles. (LOL)
Stay well, be safe and enjoy your walk with Poppy. Hope it is a clear evening for you so you can enjoy a starlit sky with the moon beaming down to you.

Daughter & son-in-law were able to return to work last Monday. The real problem this week is their cat needing a 2nd emergency surgery this week. It’s been costing a small fortune.😭😢 & draining our bank accounts. She’s still in the hospital today. (Over $15K already!😢) -

HISTORY OF NATIONAL CHEESECAKE DAY
Weirdly enough, the origins of the Cheesecakes are not known to us but it can be traced as early as back to ancient Greece. The recipe used back then only consisted of the most basic ingredients such as cheese, flour, and honey. Interestingly, cheesecake was fed to the greek athletes during the Olympics held back in 776 B.C. It was not until when the Romans conquered ancient Greece that eggs and proper baking methods were introduced. As time went by, the recipe was modified several times to get that perfect ratio of smooth to creamy consistency, and this led us to the American cheesecake that we all know and love! In 1872, New York dairyman William Lawrence unintentionally came up with cream cheese while he was trying to replicate a French cheese called the Neufchatel. Talk about luck, right! Cream cheese became so popular and the demand for it became so high that it was packaged and distributed to all the local stores in the area.
Time went by, and an immigrant named Arnold Reuben from Germany, who lived in New York, was once served cheese pie at an event he attended. He was so fascinated and intrigued by the dessert, that he decided to experiment with the recipe until he came up with what we know today as the New York Cheesecake.
The popularity of the New York Cheesecake increased so much that different cities came up with their own versions, for example, the Chicago cheesecake, the Pennsylvanian cheesecake, etc. It became such an important part of American culture, that in 1985, it was decided that on July 30 every year National Cheesecake Day would be celebrated.
