Conversation – 17
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Hi xango. Merry Christmas to you and Hubby and your families. We had rain Thursday. Never expected it to be a downpour. Then the sun came out and didn’t realize it would rain again later that day. And then when I awoke this morning could not believe that the temp had dropped to the 30s and remained there all day. I dressed in layers so hubby could venture out. Went to Aldi’s for just a couple of items. I could not believe that hubby wore shorts and a T-shirt. He said he was OK. To think by the time Trivia rolls around again our temps will be back in the 90s.
Our roof is still in limbo.. I think I mentioned that we lost poser to the lanai, our shed and the outdoor outlets. The workers will need them for their power tools. We have a meeting with our Homeowners Insurance on Tuesday and will add the electrical at that time. I also just read on line that FEMA is here for the second storm and as long as they are here, I will either go with them or our Insurance. Co. . Each time we have had some wind (like the past couple of days) we seem to lose more of the roof. Meanwhile, I am hoping hubby will have the surgery, though doing it here looks bleak at this point. Will keep you posted.
Enjoy the season. I just wish it was all year long. Love when people come together.

Forgot to mention that the temps this morning was around 30 degrees. But with the wind chill factor thrown in it was the mid teens to twenty. I dressed in layers going to Aldi’s and I must say the Northeast was still with me. I have to admit that it felt real good. Hubby on the other hand, wore shorts with a T-shirt. He said it was comfortable. However, he forgot his cane so he had to trek from the van to the carriages. For someone with a back and knee problem he did OK. But, here it is December and I am looking for Global Grapes and Chestnuts. Here’s hoping the Farmer’s Market will come to my rescue. It will be cold here through Tuesday. By the end of the week, it will be 80 again. Believe it or not, I can wait. This is my kind of weather.

It is Christmas eve and the fireworks are going off one after another in all directionsl. There will be more of the same next week for bringing in the New Year. I just hope and pray for good health, good friends and one that will bring many smiles on people’s faces. As I said in the last few posts, the one thing I really enjoy is when we all can celebrate the Christmas and Hanukkah spirit together.
This is the time of year that hubby and I always looked forward to, especially when it included a New York City trip. In the beginning it was a bus trip the beginning of the month that started it all. We would leave our Ct. home between 6 am & 7am and arrive in NYC around 10:40 s,m ot so. It gave us ample time to find a rest room and then head for Times SQuare for the subways.
It was always cold, just like your home is today. We dressed in multi layers including two or three pair of socks and our boots. No, we didn’t purchase tickets for a Broadway show, but rather looke for the N or R train that would get us to Chinatown and the Italian area. It was always fun going into Ma and Pa retail stores finding that little something either for a gift or for ourselves. Me, I enjoyed the little antique shop on Mott Street which was off of Canal. Loved going in and looking around and saying I don’t need to purchase anything. “Famous last words.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂 The last stop always was the Asian Restaurant nearby. It was down in the basement. No one at that time spoke English. And of course the menu was in Chinese. But there were some pictures to give you an idea of what to
choose. Invariably, we always looked around and if we saw something we wanted to try,, pointed a finger in a customer’s direction. Why read the menu when you can watch others. The place was a hole in the wall. I do not think there were 20 tables in the place/ Because of this, it was a homey atmosphere. As far as I know, the place is still there. Oh, yes, we did do some food shopping as well. Talk about having a hand full. We always had one of those vinyl carts and also another on wheels that we used for luggage. Never forget your bungee cord. And we seemed to make it back to the bus just in time with no minutes to spare. .Hubby wanted to get out and about this afternoon, so we went to Aldi’s. I was surprises that not many customers were in the store and the parking lot was empty compared to yesterday when I did not see one carriage around on my way to having the hair done and on the return. I was able to find things, that is, except for the scallions. Oh well. I’ll pick that up next week at the Farmer’s Market.
Hope you all are able to get out for midnight mass. It is a beautiful service. Take care. Enjoy this time with your kids. Stay well. Stay safe.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s napWhen out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer. With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!“Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack. His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly! He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!” -

Merry Christmas Sheba 🎅 🎄
Your home must be filled with laughter and joy, having two of your kids home for Christmas. And you must be cooking away.
How was Charlie? Did you get a chance to see him?
I have been communicating with family in Brasil, all day. Family up North was flying out but got canceled.
Tonight down here we will have a hard freeze.🥶🥶🥶 Hubby helped me cover everything in the front. I did bring in my Aruda plant in, it’s the only one I did.
I made shrimp for dinner, lots of veggies and baked sweet potatoes. It was delicious, we couldn’t wait for midnight 😋 Hubby got hungry.
Have a wonderful Christmas Sheba, stay warm. -
