Conversation – 17

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve
Song by Ella FitzgeraldWhen the bells all ring and the horns all blow
And the couples we know are fondly kissing
Will I be with you or will I be among the missing?
Maybe it’s much too early in the game
Ah, but I thought I’d ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year’s, New Year’s eve?
Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it’s exactly twelve o’clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year, New Year’s Eve?
Maybe I’m crazy to suppose
I’d ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations you received
Ah, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year’s, New Year’s Eve?
Ah, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year’s, New Year’s Eve?
Oh, what are you doing New Year’s, New Year’s Eve? -

Happy New Year Peeps! ✨💕

I remember the first owners of HSN. At that time it was called Home Shopping and we had the toots from tootie. The first owners actually drove Home Shopping to the ground because they started QVC and wanted it to be like a Lord & Taylor of television. Believe it or not, these same individuals again own HSN. Just before HSN was to claim bankruptcy and close for good, Barry Diller came along and bought it. I think a day or two after closing the purchase he had a circus on the HSN grounds and in their studio. He said that there would be changes. And there were. Under Barry Diller, the station grew and became number one. The jewelry selection were beautiful as well as the named designers in clothing. The prices were good also along with the shipping costs. Those people knew how to deliver. Also in those days, new gems were discovered. HSN became known as the jewelry and gemstone network. Today, that has been turned over to The Liquidation Channel. They have gems that I have never heard of. Yes, their prices reflect this as well. Nice to look at, but too high to buy. Yes, I definitely miss the old regime. They cared and so did their hosts back then. Oh how I hate a hard sell. .

@Sheba
Good Evening Sheba, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I bet your neighbors enjoyed your goodies. I am somewhat tired today and I am taking it easy. Well you certainly deserve a Giant pat in the back. Not only you do a great job on all your threads, it’s a joy reading and looking at the beautiful pictures you place on your thread everyday.I hope 2022 to be a better year for all on this planet. A stronger year, with peace and love for one another.
Take care Sheba. -
I am still very concerned with your sis and mom taking that cruise in February. So many flights were cancelled and this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg. I still remember walking the hallway late at night/early am. All meals were on the Lido deck. Both of us were afraid to see the doctor because we thought he would put us on a flight back to our Florida home. Our car was in Ft. Lauderdale. We never ventured off the ship to visit the Ports of Call. Rather we sat on our lanai watching the comings and goings of other ships and their tourists. We were on Holland America. Our next adventure, whenever that will be, will be on MCA. Right now their ships are having problems with Covid. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the cruise lines cancel up and coming trips.
I am hoping that there will no more surprises with the Mam. The last two times were dreadful. Better to be safe than sorry. What I do not like is being kept in the dark following. Need to wait for the letter. YUK. I am also happy that your hubby decided on the booster. No one knows for sure how long the immunity lasts even if you had Covid. My thought is it is better to be safe than sorry.
I’m sorry that the price of dinner went up. I do not think it is the fault of the restaurant. I am noticing that the price of chicken, lamb, meat and seafood have more than tripled in the past year. Our Farmer’s Market is only able to keep the cost of fruit and vegetables down because it is grown locally. They have lobster tails on sale this week, 2 for $30. These tails are extremely small. They have to weigh less than 3/4 of a lb. I wouldn’t be surprised if the shell weighs more than the meat inside. Costco has shrimp for over $16/lb. The crab clusters that I used to pay $4.00/lb are now $22/lb, Inflation is here. Just hope it doesn’t last too long. And, don’t forget, you ate at that restaurant on the holiday weekend. You are fortunate that you were able to be together while covid wasn’t too far away. Look on the bright side. You were able to be together and hopefully, you will be able to enjoy many more with mom and sis. Yep, even liquor and wine have gone up. Thank goodness for Aldi’s. By the way, our pizza was from there. They had a small deep dish and another small one made with an oat crust. I added orange peppers, onion, turkey balls and extra mozzarella. We are finding that some of their items are really good and better than takeout.
Hope your BIL is enjoying the season and come out of this bug or whatever you call with flying colors. My hubby is doing well. Today he slept until noon and has been up and about since. The pain is there, but at least he has the Excedrin to take the edge off. Take care. Hope your team comes through for you both.

Don’t worry, Oodie, we will be sending rainbows, spoonbills and prayers from all areas the beginning of January.🌈🦩🙏 Just like we did for Ms. Sheba. You got this!✨💗

Sure hope you had a wonderful Christmas.✨ It was a busy two days here and now it is over, so quick. The restaurant we went to on Christmas eve was always an upscale dining place but, wow, did the prices go up. I enjoy a great dinner out now and then but this was highway robbery,😲 especially the wine,🍷 lol! Will look into another place for next year.
SIL in Atlanta does not have covid but a bad virus. She is home but was at the hospital on Christmas eve because she couldn’t find a home covid test. Will have to wait this out. BIL is as good as can be expected, will be going for dialysis three times a week for a few months. My neighbor has a cold, he lives alone, so I checked on him and he’s better but his brother and sister’s family have covid so he went nowhere for the holiday. It was exactly one year ago that my husband was lucky to get covid. Enough with the health statistics!😕
I’m sure you are getting ready for the game.🏈 I will be cheering for the Chiefs. Having leftovers for dinner, feel like a piece of Oodie’s pizza right now after two days of big meals.🤪

Hi and a Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope the day went well and everyone loved the gifts that “Santa” brought.
I remember that one of the last times you posted you were having a computer glitch. I hope that situation is now remedied and if not, if there is a way for you to post one of us may be able to help.
Really miss you.

I am a real old timer with HSN. I started watching them soon after they were on the air. At that time I had a small, 12″ colored tv in the living/great room with rabbit ears on top. We also had an outdoor antenna. I remember one day trying to see what I could get on this TV with the rabbit ears and kept clicking one station after another. One day, I was able to get a Massachusetts channel and lo and behold there was a shopping network. And it wasn’t QVC. It was very interesting. Bobbi Rae was on and so was Bob Circosta (sp). Then came Mel who at one time was a pharmacist and the M&M guy as well as Tom Wise. This station did not come in everyday, but when it did, it was loud and clear and I enjoyed watching for the few hours I could get it. At the time, mom was able to get Cable and loved QVC which is now embedded in her TV set which is at the Cape. Long story short, they finally had an auction site on the internet and what fun that was since gong with cable i was unable to get the channel. They had QVC. When we were finally able to get the channel the first thing I watched was Colleen Lopez with the premiere of Jay King. Jay at that time, believe it or not, did not say much. He was absolutely nervous. Anyway, yearly there were changes made to eventually the Community started. I do remember the smiles and I believe it was an automatic thing when you completed your entry. In those days there was even a way to talk to people individually with an e-mail within that area. Of course quite a number of changes occurred when the new regime took over. I just wish we had a way to communicate like we used to. It really enabled us to reach out and that e-mail never went out to the community.
Hope you are having a great day. By the way, my mam is the first week in January. I will be making the appointment for the booster in a day or two. I will be scared to death the day of the Mam as usual. Hope to see a rainbow or something to say all is well.
I cannot remember playing Trivia on Christmas eve. It seems I used to send a post to the Mods on a yearly basis asking if we would have a game that night and if not, how about doubling the points when we are up and running again. And, we did get those doubles. Sometimes it was for all 6 answers others it was either added to the first or last question. For the most part we did have a game on New Years Eve. However, remember that the Tech unit only works until 5 pm and do not work weekends. Also, under the old regime, the games were up and running and shopping was at a minimal. The 24 hours were used to update the web site and to add /repair games in the Arcade, though you could still play. Quite a number of changes were made in those few hours. I assume that those changes were already in the computer so all they had to do was to download and make sure they ran correctly. Also, the Arcade team answered you directly when you e-mailed them. It was nice back then to obtain an answer and not be left in the dark. I could go on and on. But I really need to do the laundry. So time out for now.

Hi and a Merry Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thank you for the recipe. You mentioned walnuts, but chestnuts actually seem to taste better in a stuffing. Some are actually sweet to t he taste. The consistency is softer than a walnut. Only the difficulty in shelling are similar. I may be close, but it is still no cigar if you get my drift.
We rested all day yesterday and had pizza for dinner with the leftovers for breakfast. For some reason our health insurance does not cover the pain killer for hubby’s knee and he refuses to pay out of pocket. So tomorrow I will contact the doctor’s office in hopes that there is something else he can try. I also did some research yesterday and found that the same group by name only is in the Northeast. I am now wondering if we would be better off leaving here when we said and continue up there. They also have a 5 star rating and all medical information can be sent to them via computer. Of course parking can be the big issue especially in Boston.
Parking not an issue here. There is a free shuttle that takes you to either the medical building or to the hospital. Boston has very limited parking and most hotels to not have a shuttle service. But, I will still look nevertheless and then put it on the back burner.Today I ordered the origami smart deal from HSN in white. I have been looking for a bookcase for years and hopefully, this will help to get a few books off the shelf. At least on this one I will not need a screwdriver or a hammer to put it together. And, best part, forget the directions that are sometimes useless and in a different language. I will probably kick myself later for not ordering two. This one is for the bedroom. The other could easily fit in our living room. I see there is also one for dvds and cds.
Hope you are having a relaxing day. Nice outside. Too bad that laundry beckons.
