Saying Goodbye to Crafts on HSN?
We will never see $5 shipping again or any kind of one-price shipping and it’s highly possible that there will no longer be 24hr Craft Days. QVC, which owns HSN, got rid of crafts from QVC and will likely get rid of them from HSN. They are deliberately pushing us away with high shipping and fewer hours. They will probably finish out their contractual obligations and then it’s adios. QVC sucks.

QVC doesn’t own HSN. They are both owned by the same ‘parent’ company. It is only your opinion that they won’t bring back $5 shipping and so are all of your other predictions. Whether they do or not is immaterial to me because they have already killed off whatever interest I used to have in their craft days and have permanently lost me as a customer. Their prices are already higher than elsewhere, and there is nothing special about buying from them and no reason to do so when the shippng cost of most craft items is $5.50 and $3.50 is the minimum. Their words of how much they care and appreciate their customers are worthless in view of their opposite actions. I’m done with them.

@cynthialbbw, don’t even respond. There is a segment of people in this community that puts out incorrect information and when you correct them or provide real information, they act wounded. I thought the truth made you free? And who gives false information as a short cut? Well based on the shabby statistics quote, your comment made them use Google therfore making them a bit wiser. So I call that a win.

Okay. So where has reduced shipping on crafts day gone? I don’t care who owns what. I don’t want to debate. Just like some answers.
-
I agree they took away craft time on the show and prices went up I don’t know exactly but we know that they did that

My goodness, so angry🙂 Of course those are just my opinions, I dont think anyone would think otherwise. As to the other thing, QVC’s parent company owned about 40% of HSN and then decided to purchase 100% of HSN, so while QVC itself did not buy HSN, saying it the way I did is just shorthand for what happened. Now, I suggest you get out some of your crafting materials and make something. In my opinion, you will feel better when you are done.

Well, the companies union has made them stronger and these changes aren’t going away. We all just have to accept it unfortunately. Instead of complaining about it, we can move our business elsewhere. I made a huge purchase thru the CC website yesterday and and got much more in product and free shipping with spending less than what I did on HSN today! I bought 6 items today and paid $35 in shipping….I will NOT make that mistake again. There are to many great deals we can find online Ebay, Amazon, CC ….ect.

I’m not so sure about crafts going away as one vendors I shop with regularly (TSOL) has shared that they will be on the May 5 craft day. And that HSN has placed another order for another month in the summere. No word about the shipping cost issues.
Now…here is my opinion on that issue…due to the situation this country is currently struggling with…there are severe economical struggles for a large portion of this country ahead of us. We have people worried about obtaining food to feed their families….who have never had to do so before. We have a record number of unemployment and are worrying how to pay their rent or mortgage even if they receive $1200 stimulus check…..along with a whole lot of other struggles sickness, deaths, burial costs, ….just surviving. Crafting can be a great distraction for some problems, but spending unnecessarily on shipping charges or more craft supplies that we really can live without is about to stop for a whole lot of people. And I am one of those individuals.
I’m lucky enough to be retired and have a steady income. But I am having to spend more for basic life supplies, including food. I have also redirected my crafting to making masks as I think we will all be needing them to get our company reopened. These supplies are not only in short supply, but some of those supplies have escalated in price if we can get them. And if there is a blessing in all this, people are resetting their lives….And prioritizing the differences between wants and needs….And putting people first over things. I still love to do papercrafting, but I have started to make a concentrated effort on starting to use many of the tons of product I have purchased over the years. My new purchases are for basic supplies I need….such as adhesives, solid cardstock, etc. Items I seldom purchase through HSN.
I realize there are others who won’t be financially affected surely from all this. But HSN needs to understand that their craft supplies purchasing customer base. I would be willing to bet that the majority of those individuals are NOT in the 1% income bracket. Just the opposite. So they might want to reconsider not offering the $5 shipping on craft days.

Jaditelady173 You make several good points🙂 I am very happy to see that I was wrong and that there will be a 24 Craft Day in May and glad that a favorite vendor is still selling to them. I still worry about it being phased out, but maybe my pessimism is unwarranted.

I agree that the craft shows have changed. I knew when I heard QVC was taking over it wouldn’t be good. I used to be a QVC customer, but was always having problems. Now they rerun the shows through the night and have done away with our shipping deals. Not only that, the shipping charges also went up. I usually order tons of stuff on craft days, but this last time I only bought 2 items, and my shipping was $9.50!! It’s outrageous. I probably will spend time in Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. I’ll be more careful to use coupons, etc.

Even if the $5 shipping has gone away, I don’t understand why they cannot offer an alternative. Spend $75 and get a flat rate of $5? Spend $100 and get a flat rate of $5? Free shipping at $200?
Obviously shipping costs HSN money, but even small businesses understand that some sort of shipping compromise incentivizes people to spend more. Not that I am enabling people to spend more right now. But for those who can and want to support their favorite companies/people, it would benefit everyone. And don’t tell me HSN’s prices don’t make up the difference. They do.
Also, if HSN would ship my order of small flat dies in a reasonably sized box once in awhile instead of one that you could fit a house in, that would save on their bottom line also. Just my 2 cents. -
I am totally sick of all they push on hsn is Anna Griffin and the cricut. Hate the cricut . Would have liked to see other venders that sell crafts.
-
I agree. I’ve got loads of Anna Griffin stuff that I’ve collected over many years, and I’d rather have something new and different now.
-
I totally agree. I’m sick of seeing Anna Griffin during almost every segment offered today. I love Diamond Press and Beth Kingston, and was looking forward to the products they were supposed to feature. Unfortunately she was cut several times today, according to the Diamond Press FB page. Every time Anna is on she’s showing a lot of the same things over, and over, and over. If you are like me, and don’t care for her style AT ALL, then Craft Day has little to offer. May not watch at all next time if it’s going to be the all-day Anna Griffin Show.
-
I totally agree. I am sick of Anna Griffin products being pushed. I’m sure Anna is a very nice person, but not all of us are interested in making cards! Whatever happen to those sewing shows and specials, or knitting and other unusual crafts? Seems like a craft day at HSN anymore means you’ll be making cards (Anna Griffen) or using a cricket machine to make some paper cut out to glue on your Anna Griffen home made card.

As of March 1- Hobby Lobby will not have 40% off coupons. I agree with a flat rate for shipping, because most crafts are shipped together anyway.
