Sheba, All 4 kids that are minimalist; wow, that is rare. I wouldn’t put my son in that category. LOL. He never really clears things out until recently and he had hobbies which is good. My Mother had a lifetime of things she saved. I think it was more popular for that generation. Having too much makes me feel overwhelmed so I have to keep a balance that works for me.
You have a lot more space in Oz which is great.

Hi in Oz. No apologies needed, I was actually having some trouble with the site yesterday. Still getting the access denied messages and tiny print.

Warmer today but the weather has been so unpredictable.😕 One minute it is raining and the next minute it is sunny. I told two couples to stop tomorrow afternoon for burgers, salad, fruit, corn and a drink.🍔🥗🍓🌽🍹 Nothing big in case we have to sit inside. But I do have the awning over the deck as long as there aren’t big winds.

Don’t know anything yet on the couple in the car. We are not close with them since they are above us on a different road and the woods separating the houses. I do have their phone number and they have ours. But hubs said they are probably embarrassed and don’t want to talk about it. I thought maybe one of them would call and thank hubs for calling 911.🙌 Who knows? I’m just glad both are alive.

On May 22, National Craft Distillery Day adds spirits to the small-batch revolution. Recognizing the diversity of distilled spirits, the industry followed in the footsteps of the craft brewers and began creating a market for themselves.

Spirit distillation has a long and influential history going back to the Greeks. Some scholars trace the earliest recorded wine distilling recipes back to Anaxilaus of Thessaly. Each year on the Friday before Memorial Day, National Don’t Fry Day aims to raise awareness of all the risks of overexposure to the sun. Today, we are stressing the importance for everyone to remember to use sun protection and practice sun safety.

Unfortunately, skin cancer is increasing in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that one American dies every hour from skin cancer. It’s important to be proactive about protection. When in the sun, wear sunscreen or other skin protection including hats and long sleeves. Spend time in the shade and take an umbrella with you. Using a good sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat are a few ways to get started with sun safety.

Skin cancer is curable if it is found early. It’s important to be aware of changes on your skin with growths and in moles. See your doctor if you have any concerns.

The Friday before Memorial Day is declared National Road Trip Day and serves as the official kickoff of the summer road trip season. Millions of Americans hit the road each year over the long weekend to visit friends and family, while paying tribute to our American heroes.

Happy Friday to you. Cool and cloudy which it will be for a couple days. My mom’s housing plan opens their pool tomorrow with a cookout. Rain, wind and 59 degrees!😮 I don’t think anyone will be swimming and the cookout will be inside the clubhouse. We may get a few inches of rain when done.

Not real sure what we will be doing on Memorial Day. Have to see what the weather holds. Like you, we normally visit a nearby cemetery for a ceremony they do each year. But it may get cancelled if it’s pouring rain. I also thought of grilling and inviting a few people over but I wanted it to be outdoors. Who knows? I did buy corn on the cob this morning. So if nothing else, we will eat corn!🌽

I am 0-2 with the latest hockey games.👎 No more predictions, I will sit back with my glass of whatever and just watch.😊

NATIONAL STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM DAY

Each year on May 21, we combine two favorites for a celebration on National Strawberries and Cream Day. Fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream is a must when strawberries are in season. They are the perfect, refreshing, light snack on a beautifully warm day!

With these bright red berries in season, it should be no surprise that it’s also National Strawberry Month. Strawberries are a very healthy snack as they are low-fat, low in calories, and an excellent source of vitamin C, fiber, folic acid, and potassium.

Strawberries grow all over the world. Not only are they delicious, but they are also fragrant. With over 600 varieties, we have quite a few to choose from, too.

While strawberries and cream makes a great dessert, it can also be eaten for breakfast or a snack. You can also add a little granola for texture. If you enjoy chocolate, drizzle a little on top. No matter how you enjoy your strawberries, you just cannot go wrong with this treat.

Had a hair appointment and love the new look. Stopped at the Farmer’s Market following. I picked up an Acai berry treat for hubs. Instead of granola they suggested ice cream which was homemade. In honor of Memorial weekend it was done in red, white and blue. The fruit were strawberries, blueberries and bananas. Hubs enjoyed every morsel especially since the fruit was all fresh and sweet.

Congrats to Heidi. Could not happen to a nicer person who not only has great artistry, but is always with a smile. She is definitely one in a million. By the way I was thinking of you as I looked at a few of the brooches. Wonder if she did it with you in mind.😀😀😎🤗

Today the temp was over 90 with 100% humidity. No rain today. Tomorrow we will have the noisy version. And this will happen all weekend thru Memorial Day. It will not be enough for the drought situation, but it will help.

Sheba, these fires are rough and the damage is awful. Well, I’m access denied but here I am.
Hope things are going well. When it rains it pours. When I pulled into the driveway my phone sent a notification of a tracker device. Yikes. I spent an hour or so looking the vehicle over and tried to look at any bag or clothing I was wearing from today. I think all is good. But I appreciate the technology. It might have been one of the luggage trackers here at home.

NATIONAL PICK STRAWBERRIES DAY

May 20 is National Pick Strawberries Day on the National Day Calendar to encourage us to pick some strawberries. Right about this time of year, they start coming into season.

There is something special about the taste of a sun-warmed strawberry picked straight off of the vine. Strawberries are best fresh, but they also make delicious desserts. Strawberry shortcakes or adding them to homemade yogurt and fresh jams come to mind. However, strawberries also have other good qualities.

Strawberry picking time is usually between late April and throughout the summer, depending on what part of the United States you live. When harvesting strawberries, you want to look for the bright red, firm, and plump ones.

NATIONAL QUICHE LORRAINE DAY

We celebrate May 20 as National Quiche Lorraine Day. This versatile French delight makes it an excellent dish for any time of the day.

Quiche Lorraine has origins beginning in the rural Lorraine region of France. While it’s considered a French dish, it developed during a time when the Lorraine Region was under German rule. Even the word Quiche comes from the German word kuchen, meaning cake. The Lorraine region of France is also known for many other delicious dishes such as madeleines, Jordon almonds, macarons, and Lorraine hotpot. Of course, the area is also known for its viticulture.

The original Quiche Lorraine was made with an open pie using a bottom crust with a filling of custard and smoked bacon. A cast-iron skillet was used to cook the original Quiche. Cheese was added to the recipe at a much later time.

What a day. I awoke the first time around 4:30am. It was after 10:30pm when I decided to relax after three hours plus with a headache to beat the band. Monday was the same thing. All due to a falling barometer and a rain event that I wished for. I returned to bed around 5am and set an alarm for 10am. The sun was hitting me in the face and I decided to get up and at em. I went to brush my teeth and there was no water coming from the faucet. Checked e-mail, nothing from the office to give me a head’s up. So sent an e-mail and no reply. Very unusual. After two hours I decided to check online and found that the water was going to be shut off from 9am to 5pm. However, the streets included were no where near me. The info was incorrect. However, I started checking hourly and by 3:30 pm we finally had water. My day went up in smoke. No shopping and of course I was late in seeing hubs.

Tomorrow hair cut appointment. I am tempted to go extremely short as for some reason I am losing my hair. It is not the usual shedding. I changed shampoos to no avail. Ordered a new one that said sulfate free. It wasn’t. Second ingredient Sulfate. It will be returned tomorrow. Ordered another shampoo with an exceptional rating and will bring it to the salon tomorrow.

It has rained here three days in a row and more is expected tonight and through the weekend. Our raining weather has finally materialized. Well, through the weekend. Next week does not look promising for those much needed drops. Time will tell.

Wondering if Heidi will be returning to HSN. So far no new products. Hope she will return in June. Her Roma Moda on her website has me mesmerized. Hope there is a sale soon. A couple of things have caught my eye.

Well, back to doing this and that. Have a great evening.

Glad your fence and tree in your yard stopped the car. My nerves would be shaken to

Oz was hit hard last night but we made it through the weather was on from afternoon until

Hoping everything is calm at your house today. I have done a lot of nothing except make some tuna salad for dinner.🐟

Don’t know how the couple is doing yet. He was able to walk, with help, to the ambulance but was shaken up. Hubs thought he heard one of the rescuers say she had a broken leg but so much was going on that he could have heard wrong. I don’t want them to think I’m nebby so I’m going to wait a couple days and see if they call. They both could still be in the hospital.🤕

The only time I see these people is maybe during Fall and Winter when the leaves fall. I can’t even see their house right now because of all the trees in the woods.

Hockey semi-finals start tomorrow.🏒 I’ve said it 500 times already, these playoffs are too long. Thanks for my blue beverages, cool hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Lady I hope the couple are doing alright it just sounds so scary what they went through.

Oz is cold tonight can you believe that? We are around 50 degrees and will be in the
low 40’s come tomorrow morning. I am putting extra covers on the bed. 💕

I made sure all the animals are fed. Hey I had chicken salad today and it was yummy.

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 🎈😎💕Oodie OZ had a huge thunder storm
over night. I slept right through it. Hubby had to go to work and saw many huge trees
in our area down. The City is a mess all over.

I went in the back yard to be sure all was well and everything is intact.
The animals still came to eat I was happy about that. 💕😎

I was able to visit hubs and he looked great. I purchased fried chicken from the Farmer’s Market. Hubs ate it slowly and was able to swallow without difficulty. He was surprised how tasteful it was and asked me to purchase more. There was no skimpy on the pieces. The chicken has to be over 4lbs and it was one of the best I have ever had and that includes Southern cooking. Once the kitchen is finished I will try to do this on my own.

We finally had rain yesterday afternoon and again on the ride home. Thankfully, there was no lightning show nor any thunder to make you jump. There was one cloud burst on route home that lasted seconds.

Today I was about to get ready to see hubs and to hop into the shower. The sun was out and the UV rating was off the charts. But,l as I walked into the bathroom, my head started feeling awful. I made it to the bed just in time to take some pills for relief. I had to resort to Alexa, the new AI, to get the full details on the weather. Seems the barometer was going downhill fast. Rain started about an hour later. By the time the meds finally worked it was too late to make a trip and too late to contact the Rehab. The recepptionist was already gone. Tomorrow I intend to get ready early and to head to the Farmer’s Market for some fruit and veggies. I will definitely pick up Dragon fruit so I can mix it with blueberries for myself and hubs. I picked up some Florida blueberries last week and they are very sweet and delicious. I will nuke the blueberries and pour it over the Dragon Fruit. I would add strawberries if I wasn’t highly allergic to them. Bananas are now .60/lb, so may get just a couple. Gas is now over $2/gal from it’s lowest price two months ago.

I read where the storms in Kansas, Iowa and I think Ohio were under the gun. Sorry about the loss of trees. Thankfully, noone was hurt. Hope you have a great evening. Thank you for the rain. More expected tomorrow through Friday. Maybe we are finally seeing some spring though the temps are in the 90s.

Glad to hear all is well at your house. I guess wishing you a light rain yesterday didn’t work.

I think I have you beat with neighborhood happenings. My backyard layout is my yard, above that is a wooded area and above that is another road and house. This afternoon the couple who live in that house rolled their car over the hill. A few trees and my fence stopped it. He got out, she was trapped in the car. I think every fire truck, ambulance and police car in my township was either in front of my house or on the road above. I didn’t see it happen but hubs was out in the yard. He came rushing in to call 911. I watched them cutting off parts of the car from my kitchen window. She was alive and they took both to the hospital. Then a massive tow truck came and pulled the car up the hill which I couldn’t see because of the trees. I was worried it would catch on fire and there would be a blaze in the woods.

The guy used to park his car in the driveway and I said more than once if it’s icy or he backs up too far he will be in our yard. Hubs said if the car didn’t flip and stayed on its wheels it most likely would have plowed through the fence and into our house. Thank you God, that’s enough for today.

Good Evening and whoa what a day. I am sorry that happened to your neighbor.
That is scary well OZ will get hit again it’s on the way. There are no TV Shows
all the local stations are focus on the storm.

I just hope we keep power temps are around 70 so if anything happen I think we will
be alright. We have check the yards and the animals already are taking cover. I just hope
no trees fall. Hubby had to go many different ways as so many trees were down.
