Sheba, It’s been a busy weekend. I know for you as well.
You asked about the music on our travels. Other than the 2 plays we saw, we were pretty busy running around site-seeing. We went to fabulous Museums, Palaces, Churches, Synagogues, and historical places. How was your visit with your Professor friend? Is she planning another trip to Greece and has she recovered from her accident? I sure hope so.
Tonight I cooked a pumpkin left over from Halloween. Never tried it before and it was pretty easy. Tomorrow, if I have time, I might try to make soup from it. Maybe not? We will see as I am already tired of it 🙂
Yes, sadly I am aware of the fires.
Have a good evening! -
Sheba, Your laundry room looks fabulous!

Sheba, Glad your Perlier order arrived. Snow in CO already; time is flying by. My lunch was interesting and lasted about 3 hours plus 45 minutes in transit time total. We discussed the election results. I was tired when I got home and went to bed early. I’m an introvert so all this chatting gets overwhelming. I love it but i get tired. Today I took a down day to organize a bit.
How did your bathroom turnout? I know your house is beautiful.
We really miss the quality coffee from our travels. We decided to get a new coffee maker this year.Have a good evening!

Oodie, thinking of you and hope you can get some rest soon. Good to hear your hubs is going to be home soon.

Sheba, Oz sounds like it’s having a beautiful fall day today.
How are your kids doing in GA?Happy 10 years! Wow, that is incredible. Congratulations on the great job you do here everyday!
Went for a Covid and Flu shot today, left with a dtap and flu shot. Since I had Covid in early September, the nurse told me to wait. I still have some immunity, well hope so.
I feel settled back in but a bit bored after all that running around. Went to the gym and tried a yoga class. Yoga just isn’t my thing. It’s too hard on my wrists and knees. The floor is hard and some people double mats but I dont want to deal with all that as I bring my own mat. You know the gym mats probably aren’t cleaned. The stretch class a few days ago was really good.
The music from the Play was wonderful. The entire cast and crew were so great.

Sheba, glad you are doing better with the time change. It’s that feeling like something is off.
Your Professor friend and neighbor gets around. She sounds interesting. I really enjoyed all the uphills and steps in Europe. It was easy to get exercise. Here it really takes effort. I did notice some of the tourists used walking or hiking sticks, and some people did look in pain on some hills. I could see the knees locking up. Ouch.
We tried some Mexican food at a Mexican Restaurant in Lisbon because hubs was having withdrawals but it wasn’t very good at all. Oh, I wanted to also tell you about my McDonalds trip. The portions there are much smaller which I enjoyed. I ordered a drink which was coffee with ice cream in it. I got a tiny cup with about 2 Tablespoons of coffee topped with maybe 1 Tablespoon of ice cream. It was pretty hilarious to us.
Enjoy the evening. -
Sheba, You had a good healthy breakfast. The Tree pictures are beautiful, and the little critters too. It seems many Canadians travel to warm spots (along with UK’er’s). We met someone who said on her first trip to Portugal, she knew immediately. She went back, got her kids and left for good. AZ also gets a lot of Canadian visitors. They are friendly people.
We mailed in ballots, which were tracked and counted within 2 days. I have a luncheon with 3 other women on Thursday to discuss the election. I asked my hubs to fill in for me but he declined. Deep Breaths….
You are right about hiking and walking keeping me ready to walk all over when we travel. We log a lot of steps on hills of cobblestones, tiled stones, some with mud and dirt, steps, more steps and oh my so many steps. By the way, I love steps. My view is walk 20-30 minutes up hill to get to a Castle to walk an hour or two with more steps, then walk down hill to a town square, then uphill to the room, then up a few flights of steps to get to the room. Just when you hit the wall – more steps. Loved it 🙂 -
Sheba, it seems most people do not want the time to change, and for some it’s pretty rough.
I heard we (CA) voted on this in the past and it was approved but never put into action.
Hope you and Poppy enjoyed your walks and that Poppy can keep up with you. 🙂
Hiked yesterday and today at my local favorite spot and I was worried about critters. Luckily, I didn’t see any and tried to go at a time when others would be out.
Would love to hear more about all your interesting neighbors.
We found the people all along the trip wonderful. We met Canadians who had moved to Portugal and some who were vacationing there. We also spoke to some N CA’s who were headed to Morocco next. The phone translator helped with locals who didn’t speak English, and we of course didn’t speak their languages. Mostly it helped in the grocery stores. It seemed that the younger people spoke more English in most places. We saw two Plays on the trip. One is a tradition for us now and the other was towards the end of our trip.. Phantom is in Lisbon, and sold out. We managed to find 2 tickets and it was in English. -
Oodie, on our trip I bought dragon fruit twice. Now my hubs likes it too!

Sheba, hope you had fun picking up leaves. I recall they have a nice aroma.
Your neighbors all sound so interesting and adventurous.
You never know where you will visit. I never expected to go to some of the places I went to visit.
Time to decide to hike or go to the gym, still on the fence but will go to one or the other. -
Sheba, glad you enjoyed the trick-or-treaters. We got a lot of kids, and they were in groups but not as much as before covid. I have leftover candy to donate somewhere. I managed to eat only 2 -3 pieces in all and that is way better than in previous years 🙂 when we snacked all month long,
As usual, my 1st stop in the US was to order my AL Choco. I saw the picture you posted 🙂
The order was delayed due to heat in LV. Should arrive any day now.
Your Aunt and sister’s trip to Russia must have been amazing. I would love to hear all about it. I hope you got to see all their pictures.
I have been mentioning the Amtrack to some people who didn’t want to fly.Your neighbor must be famous then. I don’t follow sports too much but I remember the helicopter accident. What a tragic loss.

Oodie, Sorry you had all that traffic. Your train travels sound amazing.

Sheba, Nice your neighbor is in SD. Hope he can go to the SD Zoo or/and Safari Park, plus there is a Sea World. It’s so nice of you to watch over his place. So far Halloween is slow and I have a lot of candy.
In the picture you posted of Portugal is a Pastel de nata. My hubs enjoyed this custard treat a lot and often. They are sold in the markets and cafe’s. It was created by Portuguese Monks in the early 1800’s. In a city in Portugal I ordered an Ice Coffee. Yup it was on the menu. I literally got a glass, some ice cubes in it, and a tiny cup of hot coffee. I skipped the ice and glass. It was pretty funny. Portugal’s famous dish is Cod or Bacalhau. It is a salted sort of dried cod. The funny thing here is that some Tourists complain about it being salty. It is literally salted cod and a national dish.
Hope you have lots of trick-or-treaters and a nice cool evening. -
Sheba, Thank you for your sweet note. It’s so nice of you to thank me but the pleasure is all mine.
I appreciate you and all you do here. You are a very kind person!
Amtrack sounds like a great way to travel. If you can be comfortable, and walk around, plus get great meals – awesome. I will let my friend know (the one I have mentioned before) as she had to go to Colorado last month for a family visit and said the air travel was exhausting.
We did have an issue with a train ride, or lack thereof, the train was a no show, with no cancellations or warning. We had to Uber to a bus stop and ended up going by bus. The bus was full, very comfortable, and efficient. The swollen river in Prague, and canceled trains, were due to a storm (flooded the tracks). It only rained for about 2 days of our trip.
A funny food thing was in Portugal, I ordered water to drink and the waiter just automatically brought me white wine. This made me very happy and tasted great.
I’m prepped for the Trick-or-Treaters, but with minimal decorations. I’m sure your place looks great!
