WOW!!!!! What a game. Watched the entire Super Bowl from beginning to end with hubby in his room at the Rehab. Definitely a nail biter. Both teams played a great game. In all the years I have watched the Super Bowls, I have never seen a team so well matched. Exciting.
Yes, I am home. And I am starving. I brought food for hubby and a dessert. T urn around for 2 seconds and the next thing I saw was him diving into my dinner. LOL His appetite has returned.

I am with Shoelady on this one. That’s one piece of cake that speaks, ‘HANDS OFF.”

Yum on the Asian food. If you read this post before venturing out, please ask for the specials commemorating their New Year. Trust me, when I say, it may be on the menu, but it will be made differently. There is an Asian buffet near me that goes all out for the New Year. There will be no parking near or at their restaurant because they put on a show of shows. Everyone in the restaurant has a part. There will be the dragon dance, a ribbon dance and some other things thrown in. Once the show is over, you can move the cars. Inside, the dragon has a special place and will dance up and down the aisles. Hope, the three of you actually have an opportunity to participate. For the first time, I will miss this. I am sure hubby will be feeling the same.
As I said previously, I have my doctor appointment on Monday. Following, I will be seeing hubby, since it is just over a mile from door to door. I will be leaving a message for the Head Nurse/Unit Manager to meet with him and to go over the plan for bringing hubby home. I definitely will have help and hoping it will be until he is able to be more independent. I have to give him credit for trying. He is almost able to get into bed on his own from the wheelchair. Getting out of bed will not be as difficult. For going to the bathroom, that is something that must be worked on. There are bars that can just sit on the floor that will enable him to get to that point and there are others that will need to be assembled to the toilet. I think xango has one. I need to redo the second bathroom unless I find something in another home that is more compatible. What you don’t know is that both of us have been looking for another home in Florida for the past six years or so. The prices are through the roof because of real estate agents who are here from other parts of the States and have risen the prices. That’s not to mention the New Yorkers who feel that 500k++ is a bargain. Just recently I found some in the Sarasota area that meet our price. Of course these homes are near the Interstate and not something I would be interested in. I’m not that desperate. The layout and square footage are excellent with walk-in his and her closets. Tempting, but the air quality will leave a lot to be desired. Also, I’m not overly thrilled with their cable company.
I will now get ready to see hubby and put a load of laundry into the dryer. Because of hubby’s coughing spell ten days ago, he is eating mush. I need to grind everything for the time being. However, I did find some Tiramisu at Costco that will be a nice surprise. Enjoy the rest of your day. I know your temps are up there. It’s almost spring like, but keep your warm clothes where you can reach them. Colder temps are on the horizon, even for us Floridians. (LOL)

I forgot to mention that the An 2024, Chinese New Year begins on February 10th and ends with the Lantern Festival on February 24. “The entire celebration spans up to 16 days, with the official Chinese public holiday lasting from February 10 to February 174. During this time, families come together, feasts are shared, and traditions are observed to welcome the new year. It’s a time of joy, reunion, and cultural significance! ” This year it is the Year of the Dragon.
Some of the Asian restaurants celebrate the New Year with dances, songs and ethnic foods not usually seen. There are parades, fireworks and a dragon dance as well. So much fun to watch and maybe be invited to join the families.
Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine along with springlike temps.

Good evening to you. Funny, I guess I took your advice and made today a ME day. For some reason I was tired and slept most of the day. I feel better and the energy is back. No, I didn’t see hubby today. I’m taking advantage of going through boxes by the front door that keep getting moved around as I leave and return. This is in preparation of a wheelchair coming through the front door.
There is no timeline for hubby returning home. However, I feel the sooner the better. I do have a few hurdles to take care of though. I need to redo the guest bathroom and ours as well. I need to be able to get a wheelchair through the bathroom doors and into a shower. Not sure if I can make the shower into a walk-in in our bathroom. Hubby will need to be able to get into the shower with a wheelchair unless he is able to move himself from the wheelchair to the chair that is waterproof along with the remote. I will be checking with our health insurance to see if someone can help me with this when he returns home. At the same time I am also looking into some of the newer homes that are not only on one floor, but have no steps anywhere and that includes the entry. I have seen a few villas and single homes, but closet space is also an issue. After losing a roof and an entire lanai, I’m looking for a home that is newer. Having Insurance questions because of this. The newer homes are being built so that they can withstand a hurricane with winds over 200mph. Sounds good on paper until you see price. Just say it’s way above my budget.
The other concern I have is hubby being able to sit up in bed on his own. He is in a hospital bed and relies on someone putting him into a sitting position. He also must be able to go from the bed to a wheelchair on his own. I no longer can lift him and at the moment he is dead weight. In some instances, I do see why the first orthopedist recommended a nursing/convalescent home. However, that is something I do not want to do. At least not now. I am also trying to get an idea of what the cost would be to make our van handicapped accessible with hubby using both a wheelchair and a scooter. If hubby is able to transfer himself from bed to wheelchair then maybe all I would need is a ramp which can be purchased, believe it or not, through Amazon. Amazon even has ramps for stairways. It’s amazing what you can find when you need it. But, again,l I will need help on this in choosing what is best for both of us. The night nurse works with hubby to get him to be more independent. He will be at the Rehab tonight through Monday. Hoping at some point, hubby will be able to do some of these things without help. It’s hard when you are all thumbs. At the same time I will need a service dog to let me know if there is a problem. I will be talking to our physician on Monday when I have an appointment.
The house is starting to take shape. Tomorrow is laundry and Sunday I hope to put the oven on for self clean. I have the new toaster oven up and working. I lost our original air fryers due to the mice infestation. Actually, I lost most of the appliances on the counter because they went after the wiring. Thank goodness I saw what was happening and was able to save most by putting them into the trunk and back seat of my car. As I clean the counters, one by one, they will be returned. I cannot be without an air fryer and the replacement is still in it’s box waiting for me to put it to good use.

Enjoying your gifs of the dancer’s and the piano dress really stands out. I gave hubby the first of Valentine’s gifts. A backscratcher. Before you laugh or yell at this , hubby has been dealing with the itches, especially during the evening hours. He doesn’t complain, but goes scratch scratch everywhere. And, best of all, he had three choices.
He is doing good. Still having problems getting into and out of bed. He hasn’t tried to use the bathroom again and right now that may be a good thing.
Had a hair cut today and felt good. Had a few minutes to start a good read. Then finished a small section of the kitchen and finally was able to take the new toaster oven out of the box and give it a try. Not bad. Felt good to have the bread toasted. So happy, the kitchen is coming together. FINALLY…..
Have a great day tomorrow. I will be doing garbage and recyclables. Our temps today were in the high 60s. It’s about 57 or 58 degrees right now. Tomorrow the temps will be in the 70s and nightime in the mid 50s. Great sleeping weather.

Such a kind heart and spirit to leave us all to soon.

Hi and a good afternoon. Getting ready to get out of work clothes and into something for shopping. Will be visiting the dollar and a quarter store and Costco. Car needs gas. Funny, I just checked gas prices between Costco and Sam’s Club. Sam’s is two cents cheaper and though closer, need to shop at Costco. No hotdogs today. I have been told emphatically that I cannot feed hubby anything not even when sitting in his wheelchair. This is all because he choked on the apple that I had cut into bite size pieces and also skinned. No soft foods. Even pureed. No ice cream either. Go figure. All food and fruit will come from the rehab’s kitchen. Hmm…..hubby wanted my salmon salad and I did give him a teaspoon full. He loved it. SSSh……don’t tell anyone. Initially, I will wait another week or so before asking.
Hubby has been asking for a radio. What I have here are a boombox and one that plays not only cds and but also has FM and AM stations. These are too large and too difficult to transport. I searched and found a Panasonic that can be easily transported and plays both stations. The ratings were through the roof. So for Valentine’s Day I will wrap this and bring it in my two handled nylon carrier which I use for groceries. For some additional info, these come in all colors which include animal prints, other prints and solids. They come 10 or 12 in a package. These can be washed and dried in your washers and dryers and they come out like brand new. It can carry up to 50lbs. On second thought. May bring it with me over the weekend. He enjoys the classics and talk stations. Just hope the sound is good where he is.
Well’ I am now going to leave you. Hope your day is full with sunshine and the temps are bearable. I can just picture Poppy running in the backyard and having a great time. I think your furry friends may be afraid of Poppy and that’s why you haven’t been able to bring them inside. Poppy’s bark may be enough to scare them, but if the tail is wagging, he is looking for a good time.

Hope you three are OK, and the roof holds. I just wanted to check on you three.

All I can say is, “Welcome Back.” I was worried and concerned. Not like you to skip posting, even when you’ve been under the weather. Don’t rush to do things. All cleaning can wait for better days.

Just like old times, I wrote a note and it went into thin air never to be seen or read.
I am glad that your son decided to stay through February. With the weather forever changing, I am glad he decided to stay. But you three will again be facing an empty nest. Don’t know who will feel it more. At the same time, thankful that the kitties are OK. I wonder where they go to keep warm.
Hubby is doing good. I left early yesterday because I needed to repair a shelf in the linen closet where I keep the towels. Seems I was too heavy in the cleaning process with Clean Boss and knocked the holders on one side out. I worked for over two hours to no avail and consequently left later than I wanted to. I told hubby about the incident and he wanted me to wait for his return and he would fix it. I left a little early and when I arrived home took a measurement of both areas. Found the holders on the left were good to go. The ones on the right, the holes were not aligned properly. Looked for a hammer and couldn’t locate where it was, so took a long nail and used the side of a showerhead and was able to make a new hole. Never dented the showerhead. Guess the Moen’s are made well. (LOL). The towels are now where they belong and I hit the sack at 3 am.
Weather has been on the cool side. Temps are between 55 and 60 degrees during the day. Nighttime lows have been in the low to mid 40s. It was raining tonight when I left hubby. Not complaining. We definitely need this rain event. Speaking of the weather, I am concerned with Taci. I hope they are OK and safe. Many are without power. Many were evacuated. And of course, I also remember pitman. I am also concerned with Shoelady. I wonder if she has Covid or just a virus. Hope we will hear from her soon.
Stay warm. Stay safe.

Like you, I was also concerned with xango. She claimed that she is not computer savvy, so I was ready to give her some directions. Instead she found pookie and that was all she needed to do. I, for one do not care for the double sign in. It takes too long for one, and to remember the code, number 2. I detest writing down a keyword to keep it handy if needed. This means anyone can access your area. Thankfully, my virus software are up to date and I do check multiple things before leaving.
Hubby wants home in the worse way. He is reluctant to have a hospital bed so I am looking at some alternatives that we both can use. Unfortunately, this new mattress may not be conducive to that type of bed, but in that case will put it in the spare bedroom. At this point, I am not sure if we will continue to live in Florida and that is due to the Home Owners Insurance Policy which is now through the roof. Though we have some beautiful days, summer brings many problems to the Gulf Coast. For now, we have a year to decide on that score. One thing I do know is that the new homes being built will be able to take winds up to 100+ mph. But on the other hand, there is nowhere to hide from a tornado since there are no basements due to the high water table. Again, we shall watch and make a decision when the time comes. Meanwhile my first priority is to get hubby home.
Be thankful that all of you are well and enjoy the things you can do. However, my only recommendation is if you decide to move or to find another home where you are, please make the next one a ranch house where there are no steps to ponder. Or, if you do have a second floor, put the master on the first one. This is just in case one or both of you become incapacitated later in life. So sorry I didn’t listen to my parents when the time was right . The Cape house is the only one that can be accessible with a wheelchair and a stair elevator. Probably can use one or two for the raised ranch.
