NATIONAL LIBRARY WORKERS DAY

Each year in April, National Library Workers Day recognizes the valuable contributions library staff make every day to their communities through their hard work and dedication. The observance takes place annually on the Tuesday of National Library Week.

NATIONAL ALL IS OURS DAY

NATIONAL ZOO LOVERS DAY

Each year on April 8th, National Zoo Lovers Day encourages us to explore our local zoos. Each year millions of people visit zoos and learn about the many animals that live there. Also known as zoological parks, many of them serve as breeding centers. These facilities are relied upon when species are endangered or at risk of becoming endangered. Each year on April 8th, National Empanada Day recognizes a delicious pastry that comes in several different forms. The name empanada comes from the Galician, Portuguese and Spanish verb em pandar, meaning to wrap or coat in bread.

My SIL is healing nicely and I check on all the family daily. I am so proud of how our kids
helped out with a lot during this ordeal. Time will tell how this works out.

I didn’t see hubby for two days. I had a swollen jaw, tongue and gums. The tongue part gave me quite a scare. Not only was it swollen but I had blisters. It all turned out to be a sulfite attack and this one was very similar to the one that started it all when we were in South Korea. The meds that I end up taking does dissolve the entire mess within three days. Today I was able to go out and about.

I did see hubby today. He was waiting in the lounge area and looked good. He must have had a hair cut. It looked great. A new style that looked fantastic and made him look years younger. He actually was in the mood for a pizza and I ended up ordering one. He actually should have eaten his on dinner which was pureed. However I did give him several pieces and cut it up into small squares and he ate it without a problem. .

I had to cancel the decorator for today. Will make a call to reschedule either tomorrow or Thursday. I actually looked like “Little Lulu.” All I needed was an apple for the top of my head (LOL),

For now, the computer is working OK. I will not hold my breath on this one. Have a great evening. Hope your cold is better. Wishing your SIL a speedy recovery.

My computer is also wonky today, slow as a snail.🐌 Probably time for a new one.

Hubs walked in with some potato salad from the deli so I made hamburgers and sauteed mushrooms – it was like a holiday picnic dinner.🥔🍔🍄 Guess I’m wishing for spring weather.

Niece won a tournament in Ohio last weekend.⛳ She is starting to scout some schools and getting a resume ready for applications. Hopefully she can get a full scholarship.

Sheba, Hello! Happy New Thread and 11 Years!
Today I decided to get a pedicure at a new location. It’s rare for me to get pedicures as I worry too much about cleanliness. This place is known as clean so I tried it out. It was good but she grabbed the wrong nail color. I didn’t say anything. My toes are neon pink. Not quite the muted lavender color I picked but it’s all good.
How is life in Shebaland? SIL hanging on there? I hope she is doing as well as possible.

Shoelady, I am getting used to the neon pink. It ‘s an eye opener for sure.
The Coral colors sound nice and what I would generally gravitate to as well.
Husbands are funny. Once I complimented someone’s toenail polish color and she told me her hubs hated it. I thought it was so cool.
I love the color Lavender and one of the bathrooms is painted in it. Maybe next time.

Taci, hope you are getting used to the neon pink – I love it!!! Just had mine done two days ago and I got a coral shade. I always like bright colors for spring and summer and it looks great if you have a tan. I got the light lavender shade one time. My husband told me it looked like I had a disease on my toenails, lol!

Sheba, Yes the picture you posted was so funny.
I drove off to my gyms 2nd location in another City to try it out. The Sales guy said I should check it out and that it was awesome. I must have been at the wrong one because it was the smallest location and missing many of the amenities but it had a great parking lot. I left and went back to my original location.
It’s great how you feed the critters. We can’t do that here because of the large amount of Coyotes with a Bob Cat or Mtn Lion thrown in from time to time. Once a beautiful white cat was in my backyard and it was very vocal. The cat had a gps collar but I called the owner because I was worried about the Coyotes. They are often on my Street and sadly pets have been lost. I let the cat in my house and it was just like a kid. When I called the cat from upstairs she came right down to the owner. Turns out it was a Thai cat and they are known to be vocal.

Good evening. The planters arrived yesterday and today. Guess the weekend I will be busy weeding the front and planting some new things. The HOA does not like flowers or plants hanging over the wall in front. Yet, I think it is really pretty. The pop of color gives an all new look. We have had absolutely no rain and we can water only on Fridays. However, I do sneak in a shower or two during the week and also use a watering can as well. The temps have been low, like mid 70s, but the humidity remains high. Evenings are in the 60s which I enjoy for the ride home after visiting hubby.

I had to cancel the decorator for Tuesday due to a swollen face. I left a voice message this morning that all was well.

Still having problems with the lower back and finally realized the cause. This time it was not heavy lifting. It is a cold in the lower back caused by the A/C in hubby’s room. Unfortunately, it is an old system and as far as I can tell, no way to adjust it. Both men are complaining that their arms and legs hurt. I thought it was from exercise, but neither had physical therapy this week. This afternoon is when things started to come together. I am now headed for a second shower which helps better than the meds. I will remain home this evening and will see hubby tomorrow around lunch time. I am looking at lifts to help hubby in and out of bed and also to use for the car. This will save my back and legs. I do feel getting him home will help improve his outlook, pain and whatever else ails him. Only time will tell.

Good news on your SIL. Hope things continue to improve and the days ahead brings her back to normalcy. I know she will be watched continuously and I hope and pray that we hear the word “Remission.” Thank goodness for your close knit family.

a racoon come to eat. The other critters pretend they are cats. LOL! 😎💕

I will turn off the lights on the porch and bring the feeding bowls wash them and have
them ready for morning feedings. I would not do this if they were not so hungry.

I know you want hubby home and it’s concerning that neither he or his room mate had

Observed annually on April 11th, National Cheese Fondue Day recognizes a food holiday many enjoy. National Day of Silence in April each year is a student-led movement to protest bullying and harassment of , , bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students and those who support them. The Day of Silence brings awareness and illustrates to the schools and the colleges how intimidation, name-calling, and general bullying have a silencing effect. Participating students take a day-long vow of silence.

NATIONAL DONATE LIFE BLUE & GREEN DAY

National Donate Life Blue & Green Day, observed annually in April, encourages us to wear blue and green to raise awareness about organ donation.

According to Donate Life America, nearly 124,000 people in the United States are awaiting some type of organ transplant. Organ donor registration is critical. There are many types of organ donation.

I watched Matlock late very last night and again today. It was a great episode. Can’t wait until next week’s finally.
Son saw 2snakes today on his ride. I’m avoiding snake season and Coyote pup season. Tried a Zumba class but it was very fast and I was too new to do it. Maybe I’ll try again if the mood strikes.

Step outside on Saturday, April 12, and you’ll catch the fourth full moon of 2025 rising above the horizon. Known as the Pink Moon, it’s the first full moon of spring — and this year, it’s showing up with a few surprises.

Despite the name, the moon won’t actually glow pink (like you see in this image). That title comes from Phlox subulata, or moss pink — one of the first wildflowers to bloom in early spring. But don’t be disappointed: when the moon rises just after sunset, it can take on a soft golden or rose-colored hue, thanks to the way Earth’s atmosphere bends and scatters the light. It’s fleeting, but beautiful.

This Pink Moon reaches peak illumination at 8:22 p.m. EDT on April 12 (that’s 00:22 GMT on April 13). For the best view, find a wide-open area and look east just after sunset — when the moon is low, it appears larger than usual due to the Moon illusion.

Look closely, and you’ll spot a brilliant companion nearby: Spica, the brightest star in the Virgo constellation. The two will rise together, side by side — the moon glowing steadily, Spica flickering like a cosmic jewel.

This is also a micromoon, meaning the moon is at its farthest point from Earth. It will look a little smaller and dimmer than usual — the quiet opposite of a supermoon. And as the Paschal Moon, it holds another role: it’s the moon that sets the date of Easter.
So if the skies are clear, don’t miss it.

I love yellow but don’t really wear it. My bedroom as a kid was yellow. Yellow carpet and Yellow and cream colored furniture.
