Conversation 29

  • Sheba2011
  • 02.21.25 2:46 PM

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 29 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 11 years. 😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

      @sheba2011

Have no idea what is happening with the aide. I tried texting to his wife and she never responded. Suffice to say that the receptionist at the rehab said he was very sick. Meanwhile, there was all new help except for one RN. I have no idea what is happening at the rehab. People are still either quitting or fired. Everything is mum.

I didn’t go shopping as planned. There is one thing missing for taxes and that is a 1099 form. I have spent two days going through boxes of papers and then some to no avail. Guess I will send everything off without it. Then again, the taxes may have been taken a few years ago and that paperwork is North.

Hope to get to Costco today. It is actually a beautiful day with temps in the mid 80s already. No rain is expected and we certainly could use a few drops. The plants will need to wait until tomorrow for watering and planting. After tomorrow I will be using the old fashioned way, the watering can.😀😎👓🕶

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Very sorry to hear about the Aide I do hope he
      recovers quickly.

Oz is cloudy and we may have rain we are very dry now. I will not add new plants until
next month we have a cold spell coming at us.

I hope you are able to get out of the house for your shopping. I am multi-tasking today. 😎

I would be very concerned about all the new changes too.

      Philadelphia Freedom
      Song by Elton John

I used to be a rolling stone, you know
      If a cause was right
I’d leave, to find the answer on the road
I used to be a heart beatin’ for someone
      But the times have changed
The less I say, the more my work gets done
‘Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom
From the day that I was born, I’ve waved the flag
Philadelphia freedom took me knee-high to a man, yeah
Gave me peace of mind my daddy never had
      Oh, Philadelphia freedom
Shine on me, I love ya
Shine a light through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine a light, shine the light
Shine the light, won’t you shine the light?
      Philadelphia freedom, I love ya
      Yes, I do
If you choose to you can live your life alone
Some people choose the city (some people choose the city)
Some others choose the good old family home
(Some others choose the good old family home)
I like living easy without family ties (’cause it’s easy)
‘Til the whip or will of freedom zapped me, right between the eyes
‘Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom
From the day that I was born, I’ve waved the flag
Philadelphia freedom took me knee-high to a man, mmh-mmh
Gave me peace of mind my daddy never had
      Oh, Philadelphia freedom
Shine on me, I love ya
Shine a light through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine a light, shine the light
Shine the light, won’t you shine the light?
      Philadelphia freedom, I love ya
      Yes, I do
      Oh, Philadelphia freedom
Shine on me, I love ya
Shine a light through the eyes of the ones left behind, mmh
Shine a light, shine the light
Shine the light, won’t you shine the light?
      Philadelphia freedom, I love ya
You know, I love you, yeah
      You know, I love you
      Yes, I do! (Philadelphia freedom)
I love you, yes I do!
(Philadelphia freedom) you know that I love you
Yes, I do! (Philadelphia) oh (freedom)
Don’t you know that I love you?
      Yes, I do! (Philadelphia freedom)
Don’t you know that I love you?
Yes, I do! (Philadelphia) oh, oh (freedom)
Don’t you know that I love you?

      Elton John Lyrics
“Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”

I can’t light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I’m growing tired, and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don’t let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see
I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I can’t find, oh, the right romantic line
But see me once and see the way I feel
Don’t discard me just because you think I mean you harm
But these cuts I have, oh, they need love to help them heal

Don’t let the sun go down on me
      (Don’t let the sun)
Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see
I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
      (Don’t let the sun)
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

Don’t let the sun go down on me
      (Don’t let the sun)
Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see
I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free, yeah
      (Don’t let the sun)
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

      Respect
      Song by Aretha Franklin

      What you want
      Baby, I got it
      What you need
Do you know I got it?
      All I’m askin’
Is for a little respect when you get home (just a little bit)
Hey baby (just a little bit) when you get home
(Just a little bit) mister (just a little bit)
I ain’t gonna do you wrong while you’re gone
Ain’t gonna do you wrong ’cause I don’t wanna
      All I’m askin’
Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)
Baby (just a little bit) when you get home (just a little bit)
      Yeah (just a little bit)
I’m about to give you all of my money
And all I’m askin’ in return, honey
Is to give me my propers
When you get home (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah, baby (just a, just a, just a, just a)
When you get home (just a little bit)
      Yeah (just a little bit)
      Ooh, your kisses
      Sweeter than honey
      And guess what?
      So is my money
All I want you to do for me
Is give it to me when you get home (re, re, re, re)
Yeah baby (re, re, re, re)
Whip it to me (respect, just a little bit)
When you get home, now (just a little bit)
      R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
      R-E-S-P-E-C-T
      Take care, TCB
Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
Whoa, babe (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)
I get tired (just a little bit)
Keep on tryin’ (just a little bit)
You’re runnin’ out of fools (just a little bit)
And I ain’t lyin’ (just a little bit)
(Re, re, re, re) when you come home
      (Re, re, re, re) ‘spect
Or you might walk in (respect, just a little bit)
And find out I’m gone (just a little bit)

      Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
      Song by Elton John

When are you gonna come down?
When are you going to land?
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old man
You know you can’t hold me forever
I didn’t sign up with you
I’m not a present for your friends to open
This boy’s too young to be singing
      The blues, ah, ah
      So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your penthouse
I’m going back to my plough
Back to the howling old owls
      Hunting the horny back toad
Oh, I’ve finally decided my future lies
      Beyond the yellow brick road
      Ah, ah
What do you think you’ll do then?
I bet they’ll shoot down the plane
It’ll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again
      Maybe you’ll get a replacement
There’s plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain’t got a penny
      Sniffing for tidbits like you
      On the ground, ah, ah
      So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your penthouse
I’m going back to my plough
Back to the howling old owls
      Hunting the horny back toad
Oh, I’ve finally decided my future lies
      Beyond the yellow brick road

(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
      Song by Aretha Franklin

Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you
      Life was so unkind
      You’re the key
      To my piece of mind
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn’t know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
      Now I’m no longer doubtful
      Of what I’m livin’ for
And if I make you happy
I don’t need to do more
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
Oh baby, what ya done to me
      (Whatcha done to me)
Made me feel so good inside
      (Good inside)
And I just wanna be close to you
      (Wanna be)
You make me feel so alive
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      you make me feel
      Like a natural woman

The hardest part for me is using the step ladder to reach the upper shelves. I am so afraid of heights especially when there is nothing to hang on to. At least now I know where everything is going. The only thing I won’t be touching are the ceiling lights and fans. I do have a thing-a-mig-jig for doing the fans. But changing light bulbs???? The
electrician said to make a phone call, it’s part of our contract. I wonder???

Our favorite aide is not well. He may be hospitalized. I will find out more tomorrow since I know how to reach them. I know he had a terrible fall in the rehab several months ago and his back has been giving him problems. He has to lift patients from wheelchair to bed with no help near by. I do know the feeling. Today was the first better day. Only the knees were bothersome.

I ordered AAnthony’s sweater with the pictures on the back. It’s about a size or two too large. However, it is definitely for layering. The rehab gets real cold at night and my sweaters do not compensate. However, this is like a sweatshirt and will go over anything I”m wearing. I actually ordered two. The one that is like a lime green was delivered today. The back has a print of an elephant with handler. It so reminds me of our trip to Pakistan. The other is blue with cloud like artistry. That one will be delivered either tomorrow or the next day.

Today was cloudy. No rain. Temps in the mid 70s with humidity. Tomorrow a trip to Sam’s Club and Costco. Since I was looking for one missing item for the taxes, it was not mailed today. Tomorrow, maybe. Going to get ready for some shut eye. Have a pleasant evening.

Sheba, Hope you had a great walk. Being outside does calm the nerves. The friend I told you about said walking really helped her with anxiety.
Love looking as well just not accumulating as much. That’s why I donated. Someone else can enjoy it. If I had to guess, I’d say you could wear 1 piece a day for at least a year 🙂 I think about stuff like this because when I worked in an office some women I know tried to go as long as they could without repeating an outfit. Usually it wasn’t more than a month but still that’s a lot of office clothes. 🙂
      Take care Sheba.

Happy Tuesday afternoon (Moody Blues) to you. I did not feel well yesterday, something did not agree with my stomach.😣 Maybe something I ate? Feel a little better today so I think I’ll have some eggs and toast for dinner, nothing heavy.🍳🍞

Sunny but cool and windy. In the 50’s and should be in the 70’s over the weekend. Any news on T & T? They have done a good job hiding out lately.

Hubs went to mom’s today to help her with a few things since I am not 100%. She has really become dependent on sis over the last year. I changed her alarm clock last Friday and she just noticed it yesterday.😄 Have to think of something for her 95th next month.

Enjoy your walk with your boy this evening. Prayers for the family🙏, lot of hugs from me and Jake.🤗💖

Few people know that magnolias, with their majestic beauty and delicate fragrance, are older than bees. These spectacular flowers date back some 95 million years, making them among the oldest flowering plants to survive to this day.

In an era when bees did not even exist, magnolias were already blooming on Earth. Without the help of these modern pollinators, they depended on beetles to ensure their reproduction. That is why their flowers are robust, with thick, waxy petals, able to withstand the “visits” of beetles, which, unlike bees, can be less delicate. Their strong structure is an evolutionary adaptation that has allowed them to thrive in an environment completely different from the one we know today.

Magnolias have gone through tumultuous geological eras, surviving mass extinctions and major climate changes. Over time, these flowers have become symbols of elegance and resistance, managing to preserve their charm and mystery over millions of years.

Today, magnolias delight the eye with their large, white or pink flowers, emanating a subtle fragrance that seems to tell a story as old as the world. Each flower is a living testimony to the past, a symbol of nature’s perseverance and timeless beauty.

When we admire a blooming magnolia, we see not just a decorative plant, but an open window to a prehistoric world, a memory of a time when flowers and insects were beginning their evolutionary dance. Magnolias are living proof that nature knows how to create works of art that withstand the test of time, remaining as impressive today as they were millions of years ago.

My weekend was a tough one with all that is going on in my family.

I am sorry if I was a bit PO in my response to how your husband’s room mate talked
to you. My dad was in Hospice and I know how things are done or suppose to be done.
I miss my father everyday and to see people talk to people like that just gets to me.

I will say this don’t try that with my family we will teach them some manners. 😎

Going forward I hope everything is in place for the new renovations with your home.
I am sorry you were not feeling well the other day. I try not to be wrapped up in my
own family problems I do pay attention to what people write and I try to respond in kind. 💕

I am with hubby. All is quiet. It takes a while before I get rattled. But when I do, watch out. Sometimes it is better to let the person vent. This was the case until last week. There has been no
Peep from the peanut gallery since.

I pureed some food for hubs. I found homemade sausage from the farmer’s market. I cut it into small pieces. Added a tomato, dragon fruit, baked potato and papaya. Blended everything together. Took a smidgen to taste. Absolutely delicious. Next time I will make it into soup. I will be leaving here shortly. I was up until the wee hours this morning working on taxes. I spent most of the time looking for one missing piece. Found it this morning. It was an addendum to something else.

Have a great evening. It’s in the 70s as I type. No rain this week. Everything is bone dry.

Chef Auguste Escoffier of the Savoy created Melba toast. He named it after Dame Nellie Melba, the stage name of the Australian opera singer, Helen Porter Mitchell. The singer was quite popular with the chef. He created not just this diet toast for Ms. Melba, but a famous dessert as well – Peach Melba.

I try not to shop on the weekends. Long lines, no parking, etc. etc.. However, I may visit Sam’s Club tomorrow to look at planters and soil. I will be redoing the front of the house during the week. Most of our plants need watering. However, I am thinking about using container plants and some for the soil. Time to make a few changes.

I am finally able to use the dishwasher. Such a nice feeling. However, I, again, will be redoing all the cabinets since the dishwasher has a sanitize button. Oh, what fun 🙄🙄🙄. Clean Boss will again come to the rescue.

Hubby was asleep when I arrived late yesterday afternoon. However, I did make a little bit of noise and he opened his eyes and was all smiles. I made a baked potato for him and brought a
fish filet along with ice cream. He mentioned that “I was spoiling him.” But the amount of food he receives is not enough to feed my hubby. He ate the ice cream, tried the fish, and forgot I also brought a baked potato. Our favorite aide is working elsewhere in the Rehab. There are very few male aides, LPNs and RNs..I surmise this is one of the reasons why he is being moved to different areas.

Friday night I had some health issues while at the rehab. Hubby’s roommate was giving us a hard time saying for me to go home. I finally had enough and in a nice way , told him off. Hubby was amazed. I left after 11pm. To my amazement I saw a helicopter high in the sky as I walked to my car. It followed me home and didn’t leave until I started walking to my front door. I do not know if one of the nurse’s contacted the sheriff’s office or if my neighbor who works part time with them was concerned when I hadn’t arrived home before 10pm. . Whoever did so, it actually made me feel safer. The rehab is in a bad area and you can hear gun shots on the weekend.

It is a sunny day with temps in the low 70s as I type. Tomorrow we will be in the 80s. Just hope the humidity will remain low. Pollen count is very high.

Prayers for your SIL. May she start feeling a bit better as each day passes.

words. Oodie your husband has been there too long how dare he say go home.

After I put him in his place he may wish to run home. I don’t like this and I don’t like
      rude people.

I will write later this really bugs me. Who do he think he is?

I am glad you stayed never let anyone run you off that is your husband and it’s called

Thanks for trying to stick up for me. But, I told him where to go and what to do. He calls for the aides all day and night. My hubby just let things ride. But, he has been there over a month and has spurts of kindness. Hubby was so surprised when I spoke up. I can tolerate a lot of things, but Friday was different. I was really under the weather and could not get up from the chair. One of the aides offered to drive me home and I said it wouldn’t be necessary. It took a couple of hours for the thing to pass and listening to the roommate’s gibberish and needing sleep set me off. I can stand up for myself, but, I must admit I have patience. However, Friday night just made it happen. He has not spoken to me since and that is refreshing. He has had no visitors. Maybe that explains his outbursts. Oh well.

Good afternoon to you. Glad to hear your headache is gone and you’re feeling better. Your family is so large you could have a long running reality series on TV – Watch What Happens Now – in Every State, LOL!😲

Just finished putting a meatloaf in the oven. Takes care of dinner for a few days. Mom is doing okay. She said it’s too quiet without sis there. She’ll be back the first week in April

Happy for the positive SIL news. Prayers for continued improvement.🙏😇🙏 Lots of hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      Afterglow
      Song by INXS

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divides the thorns from the roses
      It’s you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go, I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I’m living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who owns tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I’m caught in your shadow, I’m losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go, I will find my way
I will sacrifice ’til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I’m living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone, as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go, I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I’m living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divides the thorns from the roses
      It’s you who is closest

      @sheba2011

I see you are keeping busy. Me, I goofed off today. Now getting ready to see hubby. I will be bringing him some fish with mashed potatoes. At this point I’m not sure if I will puree them. Fish is soft and easy to chew without teeth. While at Aldi’s yesterday, I picked up some ice cream treats and other things. I had a freezer bag and freezer paks with me. Everything was still frozen when I arrived at the rehab about a half hour later. Hubby chose the ice cream on a stick and it was so good, he had another. When I returned home, everything was still frozen. That was 7 or 8 hours later. I purchased these bags at Sam’s Club and Costco. Best part is using these bags with the “trolley.” Only heavy lifting is either from a passenger seat or the trunk to the trolley. That trolley sure comes in handy.

Before I forget. Joy will be on with Clean Boss as a TS for Sunday. The price they are showing is $8 more. I have a feeling that the mop will be the special. I still have a few bottles left at the lower price so may skip over them this time around.

Looks like your SIL is starting to turn the corner. However, just like Covid she will have good and bad days. Normal for this type of surgery. As I said previously, there are a couple of new meds out that are promising for pancreatic cancer. I just do not know if they have been approved by the FDA. These meds were tried in England and they seem to be doing the job. That’s all I can say at the moment.

If it’s any consolation, I had a cousin who past in his 40s. It was very unexpected. He was getting out of his car in the parking lot for work and collapsed. He was gone before his body hit the pavement. He passed from an embolism that no one knew he had. No black and blue marks. Nothing. This happened many years ago. Both his parents and our grandparents were alive then. Our entire family was devastated. I hope your mom is OK. That’s my concern now.

      Jeff Buckley Lyrics
      “Hallelujah”
      (originally by Leonard Cohen)

Well, I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
      Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
      The baffled king composing Hallelujah

      Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah…

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

      Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah…

Well, baby, I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor (you know)
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
      It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

      Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah…

Well, there was a time when you let me know
      What’s really going on below
But now you never show that to me, do ya?
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

      Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah…

      Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
      It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

      Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah…
      Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah…
      Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
      Hallelujah, hallelujah

      “Yesterday” The Beatles

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay.
      Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be.
There’s a shadow hanging over me.
      Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

      Why she had to go?
      I don’t know, she wouldn’t say.
      I said something wrong.
      Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
      Oh, I believe in yesterday.

      Why she had to go?
      I don’t know, she wouldn’t say.
      I said something wrong.
      Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
      Oh, I believe in yesterday.

      The Beatles Lyrics
      “In My Life”

      There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
      Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

In my life I love you more

      The Beatles Lyrics
      “Eleanor Rigby”

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
      Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
      Who is it for?

      All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
      All the lonely people
      Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
      No one comes near
Look at him working, darning his socks in the night when there’s nobody there
      What does he care?

      All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
      All the lonely people
      Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
      Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
      No one was saved

      All the lonely people
(Ah, look at all the lonely people)
Where do they all come from?
      All the lonely people
(Ah, look at all the lonely people)
      Where do they all belong?

      Nowhere Man
      Song by The Beatles

      He’s a real nowhere man
      Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Doesn’t have a point of view
Knows not where he’s going to
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?
      Nowhere man please listen
You don’t know what you’re missing
Nowhere man, the world is at your command
He’s as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere man, can you see me at all
      Nowhere man don’t worry
      Take your time, don’t hurry
Leave it all ’til somebody else
      Lends you a hand
      Ah, la, la, la, la
Doesn’t have a point of view
Knows not where he’s going to
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?
      Nowhere man please listen
You don’t know what you’re missing
Nowhere man, The world is at your command
      Ah, la, la, la, la
      He’s a real nowhere man
      Sitting in his nowhere land

      The Beatles Lyrics
      “A Hard Day’s Night”

It’s been a hard day’s night, and I’ve been working like a dog
It’s been a hard day’s night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
      Will make me feel alright

You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things
And it’s worth it just to hear you say you’re going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan, cos when I get you alone
      You know I feel OK

When I’m home everything seems to be right
When I’m home feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah

It’s been a hard day’s night, and I’ve been working like a dog
It’s been a hard day’s night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright owww

So why on earth should I moan, cos when I get you alone
      You know I feel OK

When I’m home everything seems to be right
When I’m home feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah

It’s been a hard day’s night, and I’ve been working like a dog

      NATIONAL FRAGRANCE DAY

Spring is now in the air, and so is National Fragrance Day. Each year on March 21st, let your favorite scents lift your mood or carry you to another place.

Have you ever been transported back in time simply by catching the scent of a loved one’s perfume? Or perhaps it was the smell of baby powder on a newborn that sent you reeling back to the days when your child was an infant. Maybe it was a combination of ginger and molasses, and suddenly you were in your grandmother’s kitchen.

Whatever the fragrance, scents, and memory are powerfully linked. We associate summer with the smell of freshly cut grass, thunderstorms with the smell of the damp air, and the acrid scent of sulfur when lightning has struck. We often connect memories of winter holidays with warm spiced pies and cookies.

      NATIONAL FRENCH BREAD DAY

National French Bread Day bakes up a delicious celebration enjoyed by millions across the United States each year on March 21st.

French bread, also known as a baguette, is a long thin loaf made from basic lean dough. Its length and its crisp crust define it. Over time, French law has established what is and what is not a baguette. In 1920, a labor law prevented bakers from starting their day before 4 a.m. Bread makers know that breadmaking is a tactile industry. The kneading and resting of the dough are just as important as the ingredients. When the law limited their day, the bakers knew their product so well they adjusted by re-shaping their loaves of bread. The long, narrow loaves baked more quickly and evenly. As a result, patrons found the new loaves more convenient for slicing and storing.

These sturdy loaves make delicious sandwiches, but they also go well with any soup. Any leftover bread makes delicious French toast, too!

The French are known for their high standards where culinary arts are concerned. To preserve quality in their bread, laws were passed requiring minimum quantities of certain quality ingredients in each loaf of bread.

      @sheba2011 🌹🌹🌹

Hello Sheba 🌹 Congratulations. Eleven years is a long time. Your dedication is definitely appreciated.
I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. Your family certainly has gone through a lot.
I hope and pray for your SIL to get better with each day.
We have been getting some real Spring days and cool nights. Only thing is a Red Flag Alert due to being so dry. The temperature yesterday (3/21) was in the high 60’s and the night is in the low 40’s. After Sunday we will be back into the mid 80’s during the day.
The bunnies have been coming around for their daily meal.

Sending prayers to your entire family along with a huge hug for you ❤️.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 💕😎🎈Oodie I did read your post from yesterday.
I had a lot going on but first thank you for your support and kind words. 😘

I know your plate is full too but yesterday my SIL had a very high temp and they were
trying to control it with meds she is stable now. I don’t know how to say this but I lost
my first cousin yesterday he passed in his sleep from a brief illness. My entire family
is devastated. I did not post last night I was overwhelmed. I know everyone is fighting some
kind of battle. I think 2025 is off to a tough start for my family. We are praying and standing
together. I think losing my cousin just came out of no where he had no health issues.
Just a brief illness and was gone. My he RIP we loved him so. 💕

I am doing alright just keeping busy and trying to eat something.

Oodie how are you and hubby doing? OZ is alright just a bit cloudy and windy.

Again thank you for all your support over all these years. 🎈😘

      @sheba2011

I did read that many who have this type of surgery do go through a process with high temps. The main concern is sepsis which can be controlled with meds. Most of this also is the immune system trying to do it’s job.. This is a difficult process, and she will remain in ICU until she is strong enough to go to a regular room. The normal stay is 8-12 days from the day of surgery.

So sorry to hear about your cousin. Never easy to lose someone so young and so close,
especially when it’s not expected. It is extremely hard to take and often we ask WHY?? I wish I could get to your home in person to be at your side. Suffice to say that this thread, in some ways, can answer that call.

I did see hubby yesterday. He was all smiles. He is having problems with short term memory. The aides along with occupational therapy are helping him. Will see how the next few weeks go.

I sincerely hope that by your SIL comes through this difficult period with flying colors. I am sure they are using antibiotics to combat the infection. I will continue with the prayers. Take care of yourself. Congratulations on so many years doing this thread.. A job well done.

      @oodiebom,

Good evening and thank you for such a thoughtful and beautiful post to me.
Oodie you right about everything concerning the surgery. Today SIL had a blood
transfusion and is doing well tonight. ❤️❤️ I know she will be in the Hospital
for at least two weeks. No rush I just want her well and I want them to cover every
      bone in her body.

The kids are worried my brother is worried and I am out of it. I don’t like to dwell on
things like this I try to forge on.

I just want to thank you for your kind words especially when you are dealing with a lot
yourself. I would so love to have a cup of tea with you. 😘💕

Oodie enjoy your evening I am going to lay down a bit.

      • OODIEBOM
      • 03.22.25 3:03 AM

      @sheba2011

Blood transfusions are a normal process in most cases. You have to remember that the surgeons removed part of the pancreas, lower intestine and a few other things. This means that the body needs to make some necessary changes. It’s also a period when the patient looses a lot of weight. However, the best part is as they heal and learn what foods they can tolerate, the energy level does come back. The immune system will actually start healing the wounds and will help with the adjustment period. The first one to five days are the hardest. After that the family will notice some changes. More smiles, less frowns. I feel she is in good hands. It just takes time for everything to come together. Her body has been through a lot. Chemo, tests, more tests, etc. etc.. The body has been pushed and shoved and then some all prior to the surgery. Take care of yourself and best to your brother and the kids.

My SIL had a high temp and is still in ICU she is stable. I lost my close cousin yesterday
he passed in his sleep from a brief illness. I am speechless. We had to tell our mother

Sheba, you do have a lot to handle.
Sincerely sorry for the loss of your cousin. I know what you mean about telling your Mother.

Hope your SIL is feeling better with each day.

We had a little scare today as Hubs thought he lost his cell phone Mtn Biking and he had done a long ride. We all went back to look for the cell phone. Hubs and son took off on their bikes to look , so I decided to walk the parking lot and search the car. I found it in the trunk of the car which was unusual but luckily it worked out. It was a big relief for him. We couldn’t track the phone because it shut down and turned off due to the heat. Imagine that? It was really hot there even for me.

a short illness. I still did the thread through the shock and tears. This is why I do what I do
what I do. This takes my mind to another place until I can gasp what is happening.

My Lord, how much can one family take? I am very sorry about the sudden death of your cousin. No words can help, just time.😥 Glad your SIL is stable. She had a lot done during surgery so stable is a good thing.

Congrats on 11 years and being so dedicated.👍 I understand this is like therapy for you but it also takes time and work. I admire you immensely.✨😊✨

I am zapped from mom Friday. All I did today was get in and out of my car – four different times at her house, twice down the street for mail, twice at the hair salon, and twice at two grocery stores. I hope I can get out of bed tomorrow.😮

Still in stable condition the kids are doing alright. I check in with them every night.

This is a road I have to managed to go down. A bit much but that’s life.

      NATIONAL RAVIOLI DAY

March 20th celebrates a fun-filled and versatile pasta. National Ravioli Day is a food holiday for pasta lovers! So pick your favorite filling and sauce and cook up a meal everyone will love!

Ravioli are a traditional Italian-filled pasta. Pasta makers fill two layers of thin egg pasta dough with various ingredients. Imagine a small meatball tucked, snug inside two cozy layers of delicious dough. That’s what ravioli is. Some of the fillings include, cheese, meat, vegetables and seasonings. They also usually serve the ravioli in either a broth or with a pasta sauce.

While ravioli often serves as the main course, it can also be a side dish or appetizer. Many popular recipes bake or deep fry the ravioli. The dish also quickly becomes a dessert with chocolate added to the pasta or cream cheese stuffing and a caramel sauce!

Ravioli can be homemade or purchased fresh or frozen in grocery stores. In the United States, Chef Boyardee popularized canned ravioli. This ravioli is filled with beef or processed cheese and served in a tomato, tomato-meat, or tomato-cheese sauce.

Spring begins on the March or vernal equinox, which is when the amount of sunshine is approximately 12 hours long. The amount of sunlight will incrementally increase until the first day of Summer.

The vernal equinox marks the moment the sun crosses the celestial equator. This is the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator, from south to north. The vernal equinox happens on March 19, 20, or 21 every year in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, this same event marks the beginning of fall. Meteorologists mark the spring from March 1 through May 31st.

In 2020, spring arrived a little earlier due to it being a leap year. On Leap Day, there’s a short math lesson regarding the Gregorian calendar. To keep our calendar following the seasons so that spring happens when flowers grow and winter arrives when snow falls, an additional day was figured into years divisible by the number four. This caused the 2020 spring to occur earlier than any living human being alive had ever seen. Before 2020, the earliest spring on record took place in 1896.

Today was garbage and recycle. This kept me busy most of the am.. The temp. right now is 73 degrees and it will probably just go up a notch or two. Tonight will be in the low 6 0s, Tomorrow a different story. Temps will have a hard time getting out of the 60s. That’s OK with me being a New England person. By the way, I think I told you of a blizzard many years ago on Mother’s Day. I called mom to say we wouldn’t be able to see her and why. She didn’t believe me until she saw the news on TV.. And, as you know, one never knows what is in store for us in the spring months.

Your SIL will probably remain in ICU for the next few days. She will be monitored very closely. However, visitors, including immediate, family will be limited.. I usually bring a book or something to do in the waiting room until permitted to visit once again. I know you are concerned and worried. Try to get some rest and enjoy the sunshine. This, too, shall pass.

It’s been a hard day’s night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
      Will make me feel alright
      You know I feel alright

Kick the day off with eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast. Around lunchtime, serve an open-faced turkey avocado sandwich. Then perhaps, finish off the day with a good, ol’ fashioned fried chicken dinner.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie as you know this is a very stressful day
for me. This is how I handle certain kinds of stress I just keep busy. 😎

I found out through my brother not only are they removing part of her pancreas but
also her gallbladder and the stent. SIL has been in surgery since 6:00 a.m. I just got a text
from family member at the hospital that she is now in recovery. We are all saying prayers.

Oodie thank you and all the girls for your support I will not know much until they go over
all the medical and labs reports. I have been on the phone with family members and I am
just out of it. I know This Too Shall Pass. 💕

Oodie how are you doing? I don’t see why your husband can’t have a Yukon Gold Potato.
Strange how they can see that but not his missing personal things. I wish I could fly up
there and punch some lights out. 😎 I know you don’t like to do that you get more bees with
honey. Oodie this is just plain messed up. I wish they see all the things they go on with your
husband. I think you know what is best for him and you will not do any harm.

Let me know how things go for you today. I am in a peaceful mood now that she is in Recovery.
Oz is raining right now and then we will have some snow. 😎

      @sheba2011

The long surgery may be a good thing. At least you know what the surgeons did. It will probably take a few days before you and the family know the results of the surgery. Those days will be just as difficult as waiting for the surgery. My prayers for a good outcome are being sent as I type. I surmise that the other organs were also checked as they went along. I surmise your daughters are with your brother. Your SIL is in good hands and will probably be in ICU for a few days.

I did not visit hubby yesterday. I breathed a sigh of relief when I made it home. The night prior I had just a few hours of sleep. I thought I would take a short nap. Well, that short nap went until 9pm last night.

I have the name of the new administrator and in a nice way I will inform her of hubby’s lost of glassses and other things as well. I do not like the idea that he cannot have solid foods or almost solid foods. He has lost some bottom teeth due to not brushing. I wish the aides< LPNa and RNs would notice these things. I will be contacting the dentist here for an appointment. I do not trust the doctors at the Rehab.

I am going to Costco. Need quite a few things and then some. Picking up something for hubby and the staff as well. I have a salad in the frig all set to go. Get some rest, if you can. I hope and pray that everything will be OK.. Remember that there is new medication for pancreatic cancer.. Fingers crossed and prayers still being sent.

      @oodiebom,

Good evening it’s been a long hard day. I am taking some peace time tonight. 💕😘
I hope you got to see your husband. I do like your way of thinking the more bees with
honey. I am the type of person I will knock some lights out. I can’t help it I loathe rude
people and sneaky too. Oodie they are watching you instead of watching the person
with the hands taking things that don’t belong to them. I don’t like people who steal.

I think I will jump in the shower and I will feel better.

      Enjoy your evening.

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. 😎💕🎈Thank you for thinking of my family.
My SIL is out of a six hour surgery and is in the Recovery Room now.

All the family is there and just waiting for some results so far so good. Taci they also
took her Gallbladder and the Stent out. This is major surgery and she is going to
hurt like nothing on earth. I had a Gallbladder Surgery and it was not good. I was in
the hospital for 8 days and I had a lot of support in the HSN Community. I was seeing
purple and the pain was insane. I pray they give her something that will take away that
kind of pain. I will know more later on.

Hey wishing you happy trails. 😎🎈

      • TACI
      • 03.20.25 2:17 AM

Sheba, Glad your SIL made it through her major surgery. Sucks. I know. If this helps, my hubs gall bladder surgery wasn’t nearly as painful as yours. He was in and out in 1 day and the pain was referral pain later in the night. Your surgery sounds major as well and 8 days is a long time in the hospital in CA. Sorry you were in so much pain. Couldn’t they give you meds for it?
Here’s hoping the best for your SIL.

      • TACI
      • 03.20.25 2:31 AM

      Sheba, fyi only
I continue to have some issue with the HSN web site, in addition to the header issue and logging in and out issues. Beware. It just defaulted the “notify me of email replies” button below and sent me 2 emails from your thread but not my posts…..

      Have a good evening.

      • Sheba2011
      • 03.20.25 2:29 AM

      @taci,

Good evening you don’t remember that surgery? I was in the hospital for eight days and I
was on morphine. Oh they gave me something for sure I was in a purple haze.

Some of the girls on the jewel thread made a thread to welcome me back into the
community. I survived and I have not had any issues I never gain weight. 😎

My SIL surgery is no joke either and this will be long road to recovery. I am thankful
she is sleeping my family’s faith is keeping us grounded. 💕

I am having a little fun with the Beatles one of my brothers said he had a long day’s night.
I thought of that song LOL!

We are snowing and hopefully this is the last of this weather. Wishful thinking.

      • TACI
      • 03.20.25 2:33 AM

Sheba, Yes, I do remember for sure. Just your surgery sounds like it was extensive in addition to your SIL’s. Sorry if I confused you.

      • 03.20.25 2:48 AM

      @taci,

No problem it was Cindy819 who started the thread. She said on the day I was released
that I was busting out and she was right.

I would not wish that episode on anyone. My SIL is ten times what I went through.

I hope nothing is going on with the HSN Site. I am going to shut down.

      Goodnight. 😎

I know this is a Mom Day. 💕😘

I am a bit overwhelmed throughout the day. SIL Surgery lasted six hours and she is now
in Recovery. All the family is waiting and praying. 💕

I did not find out until last night they took her Gallbladder and the Stent out. I am sure
they are waiting on medical and lab reports.

Will fill you in more as I know more. I am going to just breathe for now.

Lady today is the last day of this brutal winter and OZ is snowing. I have never seen a
