Conversation 27

  • Sheba2011
  • 09.19.24 2:30 PM

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 27 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.😎🎈

I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

    @taci,

Good evening when I talk to my friend in Palm Springs he always tell me that the Canadians
have the these large mansions near him and only come in the winter. I think they like
warm weather I love Canada I have been there it was summer but such a beautiful place.

Glad you saw a play in English now that is one heck of a trip to do all that in one trip.
Taci you are very fit and all that hiking certainly paid off while touring. 😎

I can see you and hubby getting ready to take your next trip. I still want to hear about
some of the food and the train rides. Europe has very good trains.

Oz is raining as I type and we need this rain and it will rain all day. I am going back and forth
feeding the cats I’ve never seen them eat so much. I do not give them cheap food either I
don’t know if they would know the difference but one is very particular. LOL!

I bet your son was happy to see you both safely home. 😎💕

      NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY

Whether you stack it high or thin, National Sandwich Day on November 3rd recognizes one of America’s favorite lunch items.

      DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS

Daylight Saving Time ends on the first Sunday in November at 2:00 AM.

The practice of Daylight saving time (DST) (also known as summer time) advances clocks during the summer months. It causes us to lose an hour for one day. However, the practice allows people to get up earlier in the morning and experience more daylight in the evening. Typically, users of DST adjust clocks forward one hour near the start of spring. Then, they change them back again in the autumn.

The system has received both advocacy and criticism. Setting clocks forward benefits retail business, sports, and other activities exploiting sunlight after working hours. However, the practice causes problems for evening entertainment and other activities tied to the sun or darkness. For example, farming and fireworks shows are both affected.

Although some early proponents of DST aimed to reduce evening use of incandescent lighting (formerly a primary use of electricity, modern heating and cooling), usage patterns differ greatly. Additionally, research about how DST currently affects energy use is limited or contradictory.

Problems sometimes caused by DST clock shifts include:

      they complicate timekeeping
can disrupt meetings, travel, billing, record keeping, medical devices, heavy equipment,
      it especially impacts sleep patterns
Software can often adjust computer clocks automatically, but this can be limited and error-prone. Programming is particularly problematic when various jurisdictions change the dates and timings of DST changes.

      NATIONAL HOUSEWIFE’S DAY

National Housewife’s Day sets aside November 3rd to recognize the millions of hardworking housewives. The day honors the stay-at-home moms who take care of the children and the home. It’s a 24/7 job that sometimes does not get the thank you that is much deserved.

      @oodiebom,

Good morning on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈Oodie this change of time is affecting
me already. I do not like it and soon it will be darker in the early evenings. I hope the
      cats will be alright.

Oodie I read your post from late last night seems your hands are full. I bet your husband
was hungry due to his glucose being down. So glad you visit on the regular to make sure
all is well and I did find some Dragon Fruit. 💕

I hope you are covered with your insurance I am hearing nightmares online and media
about what is happening in Florida with Insurance and all the storms.

If you are watching the news and then some this will be an interesting week for sure.

I see you are on KP I hope this is the last storm of the year. Oodie you are a good wife. 💕😎
I just wanted you to know that.

      • TACI
      • 11.04.24 1:50 AM

Oodie, on our trip I bought dragon fruit twice. Now my hubs likes it too!

      • Sheba2011
      • 11.03.24 4:35 PM

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. 😎🎈I am not liking this change this morning I am sure
I will get use to it. I did not sleep well and it is what it is. Sigh…

Oz is raining and that is fine with me. 💕😎 One of the cats came to ear this morning and he
was soaking wet. I felt so bad for him. I made sure to give him extra food.

I am making some Chili today and I have Kosher Hot Dogs in case we want Chili Dogs
      later. 💕

Taci if you see this along the way just smile. LOL!

Hey how were the people on your trip? Taci you seem to have had the time of your
      life. 🎈😎

      Happy Trails To You. 😎🎶

      • TACI
      • 11.04.24 2:13 AM

Sheba, it seems most people do not want the time to change, and for some it’s pretty rough.
I heard we (CA) voted on this in the past and it was approved but never put into action.
Hope you and Poppy enjoyed your walks and that Poppy can keep up with you. 🙂
Hiked yesterday and today at my local favorite spot and I was worried about critters. Luckily, I didn’t see any and tried to go at a time when others would be out.
Would love to hear more about all your interesting neighbors.
We found the people all along the trip wonderful. We met Canadians who had moved to Portugal and some who were vacationing there. We also spoke to some N CA’s who were headed to Morocco next. The phone translator helped with locals who didn’t speak English, and we of course didn’t speak their languages. Mostly it helped in the grocery stores. It seemed that the younger people spoke more English in most places. We saw two Plays on the trip. One is a tradition for us now and the other was towards the end of our trip.. Phantom is in Lisbon, and sold out. We managed to find 2 tickets and it was in English.

      @shoelady60,

Good morning in the ‘burgh. 💕🎈😎 Lady congrats on your Hockey Team winning. 💕
Looks like they are on a good winning streak. 🎈😎💕

I feel a little off today due to the time change I don’t know why this is affecting me.
My husband is feeling it too. We have steady rain everything is wet so no leaves today.

I am going to do as little as possible. 😎

Hey take it easy on that knee. I would enjoy the day.

Sending dry hugs to you and Jake. 💕😘Congrats again on the Win.

Awww, the critters and cats you posted are so cute!🤗 I feel just like you do today and had a terrible night’s sleep. You are not alone.

Thanks for the shoutout, it never seems easy. You know I will be watching tomorrow night.🏈 Kind of miss when they don’t play on Sunday.🙄 Making baked pork chops for dinner, one of my husband’s favorites. There will be leftovers for tomorrow, yay!

Hope your rain stops and the cats dry out. BTW, how is your cousin (I think) doing from the horrible accident last year? Wishing her the best.💗 Sunday hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      HSN Vanessa Williams.

      Colors Of The Wind
      Song by Vanessa Williams

You think you own whatever land you land on
The earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name
You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You’ll learn things you never knew, you never knew
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun-sweet berries of the earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they’re worth
The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or let the eagle tell you where he’s been
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
How high does the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you’ll never know
And you’ll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper-skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain
Need to paint with all the colors of the wind
You can own the earth and still
All you’ll own is earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind

Our homes up North all have an Oriental theme. My mom started me on that hunt. Doing KP here, I came across a few items that I didn’t know I had. However, the theme in Florida is beachy. Things are starting to really come together Still have boxes to unpack with kitchen items. Still going through things and finding that donating means more to me than keeping. In a sense I am having fun going through things and decluttering as I go. It’s a slow process since I am doing everything by hand. Yes, hand washing everything. Though it’s slow, it gives me the opportunity to really look at things. I have one pan that I haven’t made a decision on. It’s one that grills and not used that often. I probably will end up donating.

The Claims Adjuster came an hour early. I quickly contacted the roofer and he was here a few minutes later. The two men seemed to know one another. I just hope that our insurance will cover some of the cost. He was here over an hours. The house is a total disaster. I feel like I am keeping things with all the boxes around, papers that need to be sorted and shredded, etc.. If I didn’t know this person i would probably say the house looks like one that you see on TV.. Thank goodness, this last episode didn’t bring any you know what.

Hubby was in good spirits tonight. I made a baked potato with dragon fruit and papaya. He devoured it. He was still hungry, so I gave him some of my dinner which included another potato. He wanted more, but I felt he had enough to eat. Hubby is on a low calorie diet in part because he isn’t exercising. I have a feeling he is in bed all day. I need to get there earlier to check it out. I may go before noon just to see and then head to Costco for gas.

The nightowl is telling me that it is time to say goodnight. Hope you had a nice day. Raking leaves is not my forte because of allergies. Pleasant dreams to you three. Goodnight.

Sheba, hope you had fun picking up leaves. I recall they have a nice aroma.
Your neighbors all sound so interesting and adventurous.
You never know where you will visit. I never expected to go to some of the places I went to visit.
Time to decide to hike or go to the gym, still on the fence but will go to one or the other.

      @taci,

Good evening with Fall here and ole man winter around the corner I am stepping up my
game I will be walking every single day. 😎 I love seeing the moon go through all the
cycles. 💕 Taci the raking of the leaves is a good way to move the body and all parts going
up and down. I had a good workout and fresh air and then it rained. 😎

I do have a lot interesting neighbors this not a boring neighborhood. 💕

I check on the cats my next door neighbors gave to a little girl down the street.
This little mother is from China they went to Korean this summer. I can’t wait to talk
to her and it will be interesting. We are friends and she said I could visit the cats anytime
      I wanted to. 😎

My house is more Asian then theirs this is just a culture I love. My father gave me a lot
of Asian pictures and furniture etc. 💕

I have a piece like this and I have maybe six large screens like this.

Oz is about to rain and we sure do need it. 💕😎

Good day in the ‘burgh. 🎈😎How is your Saturday going?
Poppy was up to his ears in leaves it was so funny.

Hey just enjoy this Saturday I have errands to run when we are finished.

Sending Fall Crispness to you and Jake. 😎🎈💕

Sunny, crisp Saturday. Since my knee has been bothering me I stayed home today and did small pesky jobs. I would love to see Poppy in all those leaves.🍁🐶🍁 He probably had a ball just like kids. Heard my husband telling a neighbor how sick and tired he is doing leaves all these years.😝

Watching hockey now. I think I will make some hot chocolate to warm up.☕ I say this every year – not looking forward to the time change. Feels like bedtime at 5:00.😴

Sending lots of hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      @shoelady60,

Good evening rain is about to start hey remember fall back on the time. 😎
I have been out in the night feeding three cats who are ready to eat. Cats do
not like being out in the rain I want to make sure they eat and are safe.

I let the possums eat the leftovers. No problem. I bring all of their bowls inside
      once they eat.

Poppy has been running the yard in the leaves and he is knocked out. 💕

Enjoy your evening and the Hockey Game. 🎈😎💕

NATIONAL COOK FOR YOUR PETS DAY

November 1st celebrates National Cook For Your Pets Day. This national holiday encourages cooking something for the pet companion in your life.

You love your pet. And you want to provide what is best for them. So why not try to make them healthy, home-cooked food? No matter what kind of pet you have – dog, cat, lizard, mouse, get cooking!

A lot of people these days are concerned about the food they eat and where that food, or the ingredients, come from. Most of our food supply today is processed and loaded with fillers. The same applies to our pet food. Animals need to eat a natural diet to be at optimal health, and most of the pet food you buy has a lot of unnatural things in it. If you cook or make your own pet food at home, you are in control.

It’s best to start by consulting with your vet. Veterinarians will know just what your pet’s nutrition needs are. Additionally, they will have ample advice that can be tailored for you and your furry loved one. Next, do some research. Some foods should be avoided since they could be detrimental to your pet’s health. A couple of things to avoid are chocolate, onions, avocados, garlic, salt, yeast dough, tomato leaves and stems, and milk-based foods.

Your next step in this adventure would be to decide what will be on your pet’s menu. The internet can be your friend with this, by helping you to find recipes and different ideas.

And last, but not least, enjoy yourself in this culinary adventure. Our pets do a lot for us. They give us unconditional love, so celebrate National Cook For Your Pets Day by giving them that kind of love back in a delicious, nutritious home-cooked meal!

      NATIONAL DEEP FRIED CLAMS DAY

National Deep Fried Clams Day on November 1st recognizes a popular seafood item enjoyed since the 1840s.

Fried claims have been on menus in restaurants since the 1840s. They were served alongside mutton, liver and veal cutlets up and down the Eastern Seaboard. And they have quite a history, too.

According to legend, Lawrence Henry “Chubby” Woodman from Essex, Massachusetts deep fried the first breaded versions of clams over 100 years ago. On July 3, 1916, in his small roadside restaurant, now Woodman’s of Essex, it is believed Chubby served his customers the first modern-day deep-fried clams.

It was later on that Thomas Soffron of Soffron Brothers Clam Co., based in Ipswich, Massachusetts, created clam strips, which are made from the foot of hard-shelled sea clams. Soffron sold these to Howard Johnson’s in an exclusive deal, and as the chain expanded, they became popular throughout the country.

Clams are low in cholesterol and fat without breading and oil. However, when fried, they absorb cooking fat and calories.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie the traffic sounds pretty bad.
I notice Colorado and Atlanta have very heavy traffic. Please be careful and just
      take your time.

We may do Culver’s tonight that is our weekend treat. 🎈😎 Leaves are calling our name.

Oz is on the chilly side and we will have rain for three days starting tomorrow. We need
      the rain.

Oodie sometimes depends on where I buy my fresh turkey you can reserve a fresh one.
I wish your husband could come home for Thanksgiving with proper help when needed.

I know you want to cook your Thanksgiving Dinner that would be so nice. 💕

I survived Halloween I was keeping an eye on the cats especially my black cat. 💕😎

Here is to a great Friday and a nice visit with your husband glad your favorite aid will be
there to help out. 😎💕 Oodie I ordered JM Clean Boss and I will get it tomorrow.

Hey right on spot the season are in high gear already. My goodness!

I did have fun last night it was a lot of going back and forth. I managed not to eat
a lot candy. LOL! I had one I am being careful. I want to stay in shape and fitness.

Hey catch your breath and relax. My neighbor will be home Monday. I am sure he will
      have a interesting visit. 😎

Sheba, glad you enjoyed the trick-or-treaters. We got a lot of kids, and they were in groups but not as much as before covid. I have leftover candy to donate somewhere. I managed to eat only 2 -3 pieces in all and that is way better than in previous years 🙂 when we snacked all month long,
As usual, my 1st stop in the US was to order my AL Choco. I saw the picture you posted 🙂
The order was delayed due to heat in LV. Should arrive any day now.
Your Aunt and sister’s trip to Russia must have been amazing. I would love to hear all about it. I hope you got to see all their pictures.
I have been mentioning the Amtrack to some people who didn’t want to fly.

Your neighbor must be famous then. I don’t follow sports too much but I remember the helicopter accident. What a tragic loss.

      @taci,

Good evening I did have some fun last night with the kiddies and they came and went.
I was prepared and everything went well I closed up around 8:00 p.m.

I needed to feed the cats and make sure all the little ones were gone.

Taci my neighbor brought his house from my friend who moved to Palm Springs.
We still talk on the phone and he has a nice huge house there. I know a lot of secrets
that go on up there. 😎I think my neighbor said he coach Kobe in College it was a sad
day when he passed. This neighbor is from Europe and has a thick accent. I want to ask
him again why he spent time in a Russian Prison that is the reason he leaves his shades
open in his house he hates the dark. I think he is from Eastern Europe by way of California.
All his family live up in Northern California so I know he is visiting his family as well.

This is Catherine’s The Great Blue Room. Taci do you remember years ago I read
Russian Novels and dream about it. I will never visit Russia in this present day.
I am so glad my family did have a chance to enjoy that Empire while it was in
peace. I am going to ask my sister to show those photos again.

Oz will rain for the next three days. 😎🎈 We need it. Kudos on get your AL Goodies. 💕

Good afternoon in Oz. Did some errands this morning and hubs worked on leaves for about the fifth time.🍁🍂 Maybe one more time before all are down. Too many trees…..

Thanks for the hockey shoutout, we really needed a win and it wasn’t easy.🏒 It will be a long season if they don’t get better.

Glad you enjoyed your Halloween evening.🎃 Have one more little piece of candy, I won’t tell, lol!
