Conversation 27

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 27 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.😎🎈
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.by John McCrae

NATIONAL VANILLA CUPCAKE DAY
Cupcake lovers celebrate each year on National Vanilla Cupcake Day. These small cakes get their day on November 10th. Indulge in one or several.
Cupcakes have also been known as:
Fairy Cakes
Patty Cakes
Cup Cakes (different from Cupcakes (one-word)
Cupcakes can be traced back to 1796 when a recipe notation for a cake to be baked in small cups was written in American Cookery (by Amelia Simmons). The earliest known documentation of the term cupcake was in 1828 in Seventy-five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats in Eliza Leslie’s Receipts cookbook.Cupcakes were originally baked in heavy pottery cups. Today, some bakers still use individual ramekins, small coffee mugs, larger teacups, or other small ovenproof pottery-type dishes for baking their cupcakes.
Today, cupcakes are an art form. Bakers create elaborate decorations and displays utilizing a variety of ingredients. Whether they’re the centerpiece of a wedding, birthday, or anniversary cupcakes satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. Colorful and fun, these single-serving delights offer a pleasing option when planning any celebration.

UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY
On November 10th, The United States Marine Corps Birthday commemorates the establishment of the Continental Marines.
The United States Marine Corps, a branch of the United States Armed Forces, is responsible for providing power protection from the sea. They use the mobility of the United States Navy to deliver combined-arms task forces rapidly. The Continental Congress first established the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775, leading up to the American Revolution. Two battalions of Marines fought for independence both on land and at sea.
The Corps was abolished at the end of the Revolutionary War. However, on July 11, 1798, Congress ordered the creation of the Corps. Congress named it the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and directed that it be available for service under the Secretary of the Navy.

NATIONAL FORGET-ME-NOT DAY
National Forget-Me-Not Day on November 10th reminds Americans of the sacrifices returning soldiers have made of body, blood, and limb. Created in 1921, the day reminds Americans that National Forget-Me-Not Day originally raised funds for services for returning injured soldiers. At the time, the existing hospitals were insufficient to support the numbers of returning disabled veterans.

@Oodieom,
I was in a deep sleep when you posted this I had the best sleep ever. 😎😘💕
I have been working on small projects around the house and helping hubby with
the leaves I like moving every part of my body. I like to stay fit. Hubby has a beautiful
body think Paul Newman hubby is tall and slim. Thing is he is a workaholic he cannot
sit still he has to be doing something. I always keep a Honey Do List handy. 💕😎
Enjoy your day Oodie I am so glad you posted. 🎈The food sounds fantastic and Oodie
you are very good with food. 💕-
Don’t laugh. I fell sound asleep at the computer while typing the above. Went to bed after posting.
I did see hubby last night. He loved the potato soup while I devoured the clam chowder. I really miss the Rhode Island chowder. My favorite, all time, is the clear soup which no other State makes. Well, at least to my knowledge. There is also the Rhode Island red which is just as good. But, I wish more chefs would follow up on making the three alternatives. Our home in Ct. borders Rhode Island and also Massachusetts. We have the best of all worlds when shopping for food. Our favorite market in those areas are Market Basket. While I’ve been in Florida, they opened two markets in Rhode Island. One took over the Sam’s Club which is close to my shopping area. The other is in Ma., about 50 miles North of our home in Ct.. Like the Farmer’s Market here, Market Basket makes their own takeout of hot and cold things. There is an area in the store that I gravitate to where all the hot food is kept. If you are there in the wee hours of the morning they serve breakfast with hot coffee or tea. The hot beverages you can get all day long, and yes, even sodas, milk shakes, ice cream sodas, etc.. Just like the market here, their customer service is impeccable. However, I may get sticker shock when we return.
This last storm did havoc to many residents here. My neighbor on the other side of me lost an entire room. The roofer I used is not a contractor for doing structural work. Our HOA President has been working diligently in securing contractors with licenses so hopefully she will have someone to do the work at a reasonable price. Though I did lose the complete lanai, our roofer was able to put it together, though he mentioned through email that he would like to take the whole thing apart and make it stronger. I like the idea, but waiting on price.
Right now I am looking at auto insurance. The one I have now ends this month. I was actually surprised while looking six months ago that the insurance lasts only six months. Maybe flabbergasted is the word I should be using. Up until last year our auto insurance lasted a full year. I surmise times have changed or maybe it’s where we are today, Florida. Anyway, I found another company giving us the same as the one I have now at a great savings. Hubby is absolutely thrilled.
Have a great walk with Poppy in the moonlight. Enjoy the Perlier. I bet your bath area smells delicious. I used to love going into my grandma’s bathroom after her shower. The smells were like fresh cut flowers. I could stand there for hours on end just to take in the indulgence. Someday, hopefully, you will have grandkids that will enjoy your room and stand in one place for hours on end.

Under Pressure
Song by David Bowie and QueenMm-noom-ba-deh
Doom-boom-ba-beh
Doo-boo-boom-ba-beh-beh
Pressure pushin’ down on me
Pressin’ down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that brings a building down
Splits a family in two, puts people on streets
Mm-ba-ba-beh, mm-ba-ba-beh
Dee-day-da, ee-day-da
That’s okay
That’s the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watchin’ some good friends screamin’, “Let me out”
Pray tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people, people on streets
Da-da-da, mm-mm
Da-da-da-ba-bum
Okay
Chippin’ around, kick my brains ’round the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
Ee-doh-ba-buh, ee-da-ba-ba-bop
Mm-bo-bop, beh-lup
People on streets, ee-da-dee-da-day
People on streets, ee-da-dee-da-dee-da-dee-da
It’s the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming, “Let me out”
Pray tomorrow gets me higher, higher, high
Pressure on people, people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on the fence but it don’t work
Keep comin’ up with love but it’s so slashed and torn
Why, why, why?
Love
Insanity laughs under pressure we’re breaking
Can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can’t we give love that one more chance?
Why can’t we give love, give love, give love, give love
Give love, give love, give love, give love?
‘Cause love’s such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
