NATIONAL ONE-HIT WONDER DAY

Let’s turn up the volume and bring back memories on September 25 to celebrate National One-Hit Wonder Day. Today, we honor all the musical artists and chart-topping songs that make them memorable–even if it was just once.

NATIONAL QUESADILLA DAY (Dia de la Quesadilla)

National Quesadilla Day on September 25 encourages us to pull a chair up to the table and eat some authentic Mexican food. While it’s not a sandwich or a taco, the quesadilla satisfies snack cravings while also completing a meal.

Typically made with a corn tortilla and filled with cheese, we heat quesadillas until the cheese melts. Then it hits the grill or frier until just crispy. Some people also include other fillings such as cooked sausage, chicken, pork, or beef. And don’t forget the toppings. Fresh tomatoes, salsa, herbs, sour cream, guacamole, or chilies bring a whole other level of flavor to the quesadilla. Don’t forget to finish it with a squeeze of lime. Serve it with an ice-cold beer or a margarita, and the meal is complete.

Families love quesadillas, too! In households around the country, families include quesadillas as a popular mealtime solution. In fact, V&V Supremo recently found one in three people are making quesadillas at least once a week*. Additionally, quesadillas have crossed over from authentic Mexican restaurant menus to more typical chain restaurants. Even higher-end gourmet eateries include them on their menus. Their simplicity allows for easy customization and people of all ages love to eat to them, too.

NATIONAL DAUGHTER’S DAY

When it comes to offspring, National Daughter’s Day on September 25 reminds us of the young women and girls in our lives. Today, spend time with your daughter or someone you think of as a daughter.

Daughters bring a certain kind of joy into our world. Like all children, they have their own personalities and strengths. As parents, we look forward to discovering the world through their eyes.

Depending on where you live, International Daughter’s Day is observed on the Fourth Sunday in September. Elsewhere the day might be observed on October 1st. No matter when you celebrate, the day provides an opportunity to show your daughter genuine support, encouragement, and love.

NATIONAL WOMEN’S HEALTH & FITNESS DAY

On the last Wednesday in September, National Women’s Health & Fitness Day promotes the largest event for women’s health of all ages.

NATIONAL LOBSTER DAY

National Lobster Day on September 25 honors the taste of a seafood favorite–the lobster. Whether you like it naked, dipped in butter or love it in your soup, lobster is a seafood delicacy to be enjoyed by all.

WORLD DENSE BREAST DAY

We highlight World Dense Breast Day on the last Wednesday in September to raise awareness about the importance of breast screening, breast density, and other screening tests women should consider after their mammogram.

NATIONAL OPEN THE MAGIC DAY

Every year on September 25, teachers and parents worldwide read a picture book (or many!) to celebrate National Open the Magic Day. This National Day celebrates read alouds, picture books, the love of reading, and students who struggle to find their reading voice. Picture books are for everyone so get ready for your confetti moment.

Good afternoon I did read your post and I am back from the Dentist all I had was a check up
and a good cleaning. The Dentist said my mouth was excellent no issues. Oodie I just about
ran out of the place. LOL! I have always been blessed with beautiful and healthy teeth. 🎈😎😘

I hope you will be at a nice getaway. I would still be on the look out for hubs glasses.

Well this is a true test of what the Roofers did this past weekend. Oodie is the main water
break still out? I would take my good books and computer with me along with my Manuka
Honey and Tea. 😎💕

I know you busy but let me know later when things settle down how you and hubby are doing.

I am moving along. Storm will not reach us until the wee hours of tomorrow morning. Tampa and points North will be impacted by the storm surge and higher winds. Right now hubby is in the Rehab and though they abut a river, from what I’ve been told is that the staff will be in lockdown there. The last storm brought a takeout from Burger King for the patients. I will find something for hubby just in case since they have a huge selection for takeout. Best of all, everything is homemade including their pizzas and hot grinders. Me, their salads are enough for me.

I will write again when I can. I do not take the laptop with me since the wifi at the hotels/motels leave a lot to be desired. The earliest for me to reply will be sometime Friday evening when I
return home after visiting hubby.

My family especially our children are in the path in GA as well. My sister is
looking over everything schools have been closed all over GA according to my
sister her kids do not have school.

My nerves are on edge now I worry about trees falling and hurting someone.

I had a Dentist Appointment and all went very well. Just a routine cleaning and check up.

Hi in Oz, another humid, overcast day. My neighbor stopped with some green tomatoes so guess what we are having for dinner? Hubs just finished coating them with flour and the oil is heating. I think I’ll leave them all to him. The only thing I hate is the smell in the house.😝

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 💕😎🎈Oodie I hope that Water Main break
is fixed fast before the storm comes.

So glad the Roofers are finished one less thing to worry about. Oodie my daughter no longer
lives on the Gulf Coast of GA she moved years ago. I thought I mentioned that but it has
been a long time.

I hope they find your husband’s glasses that is so important.

Oodie not sure if you are in the line of the storm I hope not. OZ is 65 degrees as I type this
post to you and we have light rain. 🎈😎💕😘My plants and flowers are growing like it’s
still spring all I can do is love them and take good care of them.

My new outdoor cat is a day cat and I like that. I leave food and water under a tree
and watch him out of the kitchen window how he found me I will never know. I do know
he lives under my next door neighbor’s Deck. This cat is dark gray and is so pretty.

Looks like most of the Gulf coast will get something out of this storm. Our area is being evacuated due to flood concerns. While visiting hubby, I made a reservation at a local motel just a few miles from the Rehab. Actually, it will be easier for me to drive just the three miles without worrying about flooding.

The weather people kept changing their predictions. On the map it looked like the Panhandle would get the brunt of the storm. However, the models do show that this storm has not only intensified in wind, but also in size making this one of the largest hurricanes on record. The reservation for the hotel starts tomorrow. I will return home Friday. I will probably stop at the Rehab on route and that will give me some time to check the road conditions. Not sure at this time if hubby will need to vacate since the Rehab abuts the river and could potentially see some flooding that could pose some problems. It now looks like the entire Gulf Coast will have some impact from this storm. I will keep you and everyone else updated as long as we have electricity. I do have a battery operated lantern just in case.

I am still home. Check in is after 3 pm. I have some things that need to be done prior to leaving. This rain storm will give me some idea on how the roof fairs after the repairs were made last Saturday. I have been in touch with the roofer and I’m happy with the back and forth phone calls. The customer service has been phenomenal.

Will be checking into the motel prior to being with hubby. It is also only a stone’s throw to Costco. The County issued a statement last night to evacuate for possible flooding. The coastline will probably have storm surge and the inland area a tropical storm with rain. Wind will be between 50 & 70 mph. If I had this info yesterday, I would not have made reservations. These reservations cannot be cancelled, so will use the time as a mini awaycation. Currently reading a novel on Kindle and have a jigsaw in the works. Not sure about TV or power, but have
a battery operated lantern that will be packed. Hubby will be hunkered down at the Rehab.

Hope your dental appointment was a good one. Take care and stay safe. I assume one of your kitties is friends with the grey one and mentioned how good the food was at their restaurant. (LOL).

Join a group of coworkers for lunch. Men are welcome, also. They have mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters at risk for ovarian cancer. They should have the Teal Talk, too! Since no standard screening exists for ovarian cancer, awareness gives us our best defense. The talk takes very little time. Have a Teal Talk over lunch. In that time, approximately 28 women will receive an ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Invite your closest friends, neighbors, and sisters for drinks in the back yard. Wear your favorite teal and give the Teal Talk. Let them know early detection improves survival rates by 90%. Make sure they know the symptoms.

Go for a walk with your mom and her friends. Even a short walk will be long enough for a Teal Talk. break happening again. Good grief that is a lot of work to deal with. Be sure to take a nice
long luxury shower before they shut off everything.

I wish I could send you some nice rain and cooler temps. OZ is 59 degrees as I type
this post to you. We are raining it is light but still any rain will do. 💕😎 Poppy and I
walked in the rain this morning. 💕

I hope someone at the rehab finds your husband’s much needed glasses. If someone took
them that is not cool. I would be livid! People are so selfish these days they don’t care about
anyone it’s all about me and my selfish reason. Holy smoke!

I am getting chill bumps and I have no A/C or fan on. No problem I just put on a DG Hoodie.

I am watching the tropics again. At the moment, the water has been shut off. I was able to get one load of wash in and then looked at the clock. It was after 1pm and I thought I might as well do a second load. The second load was in a spin cycle and I had to shut everything down. Oh well. I wonder if we will need to wait another five days.

It looks like our area will not get a direct hit, but will see rain and some wind gusts to 60 mph. The storm will probably hit Tampa and then go North. Tallahassee may get the brunt and then go up the SE Coast. Looks like Savannah so I assume your children are safe. However, I think you said one daughter is on the coast of Ga.. I would assume they will see some storm surge.

The roofers were here on Saturday. They had a good crew and were done by 2 pm.. They noticed an area where a downspout was needed. They will be returning to redo that area. This rain storm or whatever we are getting will be a good test on their workmanship. I left the bins in the den area just in case. The men were good to work with. All questions were answered. What a difference from the roofers we had two years ago. No wonder they are 5 starred. And to think they came from Ft. Myers which is an hour and a half away.

Gloomy day, a couple raindrops, upper 70’s and humid. We should get much more rain tomorrow.⛈ Need to drop my car off for inspection in the morning so I should be around the house all day. Felt tired and lazy today.

The cats have all been fed seems they sense a change in time and are coming early
to eat. I burn more calories running up and down the stairs feeding them as I do my
mile walk. 😎💕 My legs are nice and firm.

enough to come home. I am missing Xango I think she is taking some me time nothing
wrong with that. 😎

I am about to jump in the shower and perhaps read a good book. Hubby is already in

AUTUMNAL EQUINOX

September 22 focuses on raising awareness and sharing education about all 50 states and their capitals on National States and Capitals Day.

September 22 is National Brown Butter Day! This saucy food holiday celebrates the delicious results of transforming simple butter into a culinary delight.

NATIONAL WHITE CHOCOLATE DAY

Satisfy your sweet tooth on National White Chocolate Day on September 22. Enjoy it with pretzels or drizzled on pastries. It’s a versatile confection with many ways to celebrate!

Since white chocolate does not contain cocoa solids, it is not chocolate in the strictest sense. We had another main water line break. This one is at the end of our road. Tomorrow we expect the water to shut down. How long is anybody’s guess. I have plenty of bottled water and will add if need be. Hubby is still itching. He had one day without scratching. I will be bringing Clean Boss, but not the spray. I also purchased the Wipes. I happened to use them on the guest bathroom and they worked just as good. Actually, I was impressed. I will let everything air dry. No streaks. No mess.

Still haven’t found hubby’s glasses. Tomorrow, both the new unit manager and the social worker will be told. They also, just recently, received a note. If it isn’t found, then I know it was stolen and I do have an aide in mind, but will not say a word. I don’t have proof.

Last night, the aide raised hubby’s bed and we both looked underneath. What I found was dust and dirt. No one has cleaned under there in days or months. Could this be the reason for the itches????? I do have a bug spray, and it’s a huge container that gets the job done. However, the rehab should definitely do a super cleaning of all rooms, nurse’s stations, reception area, etc. and also contact their exterminator. I’m positive that hubby isn’t the only one suffering from the itches. I will bring this up to the unit manager as well. Definitely will mention Clean Boss., though it will probably go on deaf ears. It seems they have their own disinfectant. It’s the same color as Windex. Now to get ready to see hubby. 🚕😉🌴🕶😅🍕
Gee, low 60s. I forget what that temp feels like. We are at 90 degrees with 100% humidity. September used to be a beautiful month in Florida. Just not today. What am I saying???? It’s been like this since June. Enjoy the rain. Hoping your cool front will slip more toward Florida and get rid of the monster storm that is now forming in the Gulf.

Happy Fall to you. National ice cream cone and white chocolate day sounds a whole lot better than national states and capitals day, lol!🍦 The first two I can celebrate. Just finished cutting up a very ripe honeydew and it is delish, one of my favorites.

Hey she rewarded herself with a Cruise to the Bahamas with my other niece her cousin my
other sister’s daughter who is a certified teacher there in GA. This niece is also working on
her second Masters. 🎈😎

Hubby and I have a close cousin who is in Paris, France as I type this note. The pictures
he is sending are just beautiful. 😎🎈😘Cousin went to a wedding with friends and it looks
like all are having a great time.

The Game! I am wore out from screaming and talking to our kids and family. Lady it has

NATIONAL DANCE DAY | THIRD SATURDAY IN SEPTEMBER

Break out into a twirl or two-step on National Dance Day on the third Saturday in September. The day focuses on raising awareness about dance. It also encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and combat obesity.

NATIONAL NEW YORK DAY

As we continue our tour of the states, September 21 brings us to National New York Day, honoring the Empire State. New York is the 11th state to join the Union and we think the state is entitled to some amazing occades!

From the timeless halls of Ellis Island to the epic beauty of Niagara Falls and breathtaking Adirondacks, New York is infused with grand vistas and endless historical paths to retrace. With New York City as the epitome of a melting pot long before the term was coined, the state is full of inspiration for artists, sparks intelligent debate and philosophical discussion.

People & Places
The Lenape people populated the land now known as New York. They’re also known as the Delaware Indians. Their settlements also spread across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and parts of Delaware and Connecticut. However, the Dutch were the first Europeans to settle the area and named it New Netherland.

Settlements and trading posts developed up and down the Hudson River. Albany, the state capital, was once called Beverwijck and the center of the fur trade. In 1624, the Dutch established a settlement on Nutten Island named New Amsterdam. Two years later, they would move to Manhattan Island, and the colony flourished.

Over time, the settlement exchanged hands between the Dutch and British several times, each without bloodshed. The first exchange, in 1664, would name it New York.

Independence & Influence
After declaring independence, the colonies later created the Articles of Confederation. Soon they discovered a stronger governing document was needed.

While New York sent three delegates to the Constitutional Convention in 1787, only Alexander Hamilton remained to sign the final document. A Federalist, Hamilton held strong opinions that could potentially influence the framing of the young nation’s new governing document. For one, Hamilton supported a life term of service for the President.

NATIONAL CHAI DAY

On September 21, the aroma filling the room comes from ancient spices, perfectly steeped into a cup of delicious tea is because it’s National Chai Day. This beverage holiday celebrates the strong, satisfying tea that is ordered at cafes across the country.

RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP DAY

On the third Saturday in September, Responsible Dog Ownership Day reminds pet owners to make a promise to your furever friend.

PUPPY MILL AWARENESS DAY

National Puppy Mill Awareness Day on the third day in September encourages those looking for a new dog, to adopt, not shop.

An observance dedicated to improving the lives of dogs, the day spreads the word about the poor conditions of puppy mills. While reputable dog breeders care for the animals they raise, a puppy mill doesn’t put the animal’s needs first. Not only do the dogs often live in poor conditions, but they’re bred T often than is healthy. Additionally, puppy mills don’t take into consideration preferred characteristics when breeding.

As a result, breeding lines are not well-tracked, and genetic defects develop. The mills remove young from the mothers’ much too early. Sickness, malnutrition, and behavior issues are common. Often, mills skimp on vaccines, also.
