NATIONAL PASSION FRUIT DAY

We celebrate National Passion Fruit Day each year on August 9 on the National Day Calendar. Join us today as we celebrate the delightful sweet and tangy flavor of the tropical fruit known as passion fruit. We also want to promote and honor the hard working farmers and growers that provide passion fruit to consumers in the United States.

Passion fruit is a tropical fruit belonging to the Passifloraceae family, which is a combination of flowering plants that has over 750 species. Passion fruit is native to South America, specifically in regions of Brazil, Paraguay, and northern Argentina. The fruit grows abundantly in South America because of the tropical climate, where warm temperatures and rainfall attribute to the abundant growth of the fruit. South America has extremely fertile soil, which provides essential nutrients that promote healthy growth. Interestingly, pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and birds also contribute to the successful growth of passionfruit in the region. However, passion fruit does grow in other parts of the world, including central America, Africa, Australia, and even Hawaii.

NATIONAL RICE PUDDING DAY

On August 9, many enjoy their favorite dish on National Rice Pudding Day. We recommend celebrating today’s food holiday by eating this delicious pudding. Use the opportunity to give it a taste if you’ve never tried it before!

A variety of recipes exist for rice pudding. All of them include cooked rice as the base ingredient and combine a milk (such as cow’s, coconut, evaporated, or cream) with bread. Sugar, molasses, or honey gives the pudding a sweet taste along with other flavors such as vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Eggs hold the dish together, and butter gives it a rich, creamy consistency.

National Book Lovers Day on August 9th harnesses all the excitement bibliophiles feel about books into one celebration.

A day for all those who love to read, National Book Lovers Day encourages you to find your favorite reading place, a good book (whether it be fiction or non-fiction) and read the day away.

Step back in time

The very first books used parchment or vellum (calf-skin) for the book pages.
The book covers were made of wood and often covered with leather.
Clasps or straps kept the books closed.
Public libraries appeared in the Middle Ages.
Public libraries often chained the books to a shelf or a desk to prevent theft.

Moving forward

Along with several recent developments, book manufacturers use digital printing. Book pages are printed using toner rather than ink. As a result of digital printing, print-on-demand opens up a whole new realm of publishing. In this case, distributors don’t print the books until the customer places the order.

More and more, people read E-books. E-book (electronic book) refers to a book-length publication in digital form. They are usually available through the internet. However, they can also be found on CD-ROM and other systems. Read an E-book on a computer or via a portable book display device known as an e-book reader, such as a Reader, Nook or Kindle.

I am concerned about all the water. OZ had some much needed rain this morning
but nothing to write home about.

My babies will be coming around in about an hour. Taci I love them so much.
They know I will feed and take care of them. 💕😎

When I visit my dad I do that out of respect he is in a beautiful place and they take
excellent care of the grounds. I make sure on special times when I go that things
are nice. 🎈I am snapping out of it but do we really? We have such a tiny speck of time
on this earth so I have learned to cherish every speck of that time. 💕

Things seems to be getting back to normal for me I have had a week. Thank you for

Sheba, Glad you’re doing a bit better today. The place my parents are buried (out of state) has a service to clean and place decor every 3 months. My Mother wanted it so I’ve been doing this ever since. Yes, to the latter but still deciding on the plan.
The hurricane dropped so much water. Oodie said things were all overflowing in FL. Sounds dangerous. Glad your family is safe in GA.

Hello Sheba 🌹,
I hope you are feeling somewhat better today. I know you miss your father. I miss my mother even though it’s going to be 24 years since she passed.

I made a post to Oodiebom and had to stop and go make hubby’s dinner.

The storms didn’t do any damage here, only lots of rain and wind. Everything is finally green all around.
Hubby is feeling slightly better today, when he got home from work he wasn’t as tired either. I had his dinner ready, warm and waiting for him. Cauliflower rice, broccoli, carrots, peas, mushrooms sautéed with garlic, cabbage and shrimp in a tomato sauce.

I made me sautéed top sirloin with onions and garlic and I ate it with Faròfa. And cherries on the side.
Earlier today I made some Medeleines batter. Placed in the fridge. I just took some out of the oven for me tonight. Going to look for a movie on Netflix 😀.

Oodie, A while back I watched some videos about moving to Florida. Storms and Insurance coverage along with the heat, humidity and roads were mentioned. Insurance scammers really make it hard for Insurance companies too. Around this area, people get dropped left and right due to possible fire. Hubs elderly parents live in an area that had a fire very close and were almost evacuated. Their Insurance jumped like you mentioned but they shopped around and were able to cut that amount in half. Still high though.
Xango has some good suggestions. I never knew about medivac’s and pods. Back in the day we had moving trucks moving us. Hope it works out for you and hubs to get to MA soon.

Good evening yeah that is crazy about TS and all that mess over seas. I am so glad they
caught the teens involved her next stop is England. 😎

Every where there is some kind of problem in the world good grief those are young kids
and teens at her concerts.

Hey Mahomes and Brit are having child number three. 🎈🎈Congrats to their family.

Story has it when TS gets off of certain concerts she will be on OZ soil where Travis will
be. 😎
