Conversation – 26
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 26 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.😎🎈
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

BUFFALO SOLDIERS DAY
Buffalo Soldiers Day on July 28 commemorates the formation of the first regular Army regiments comprising African American soldiers in 1866. We are showing our appreciation and honoring the history Buffalo Soldiers in the American military.
Congress established the first peacetime all-black regiments in the regular U.S. Army after the end of the Civil War. The Buffalo Soldiers (one of many African-American regiments raised during the Civil War) were the first instituted. Since they were frontier regiments, Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalries protected unsettled lands as pioneers moved westward. They also faced the hardships of the Wild West.
Army desertion rates were extremely high during the Civil War. However, among Buffalo Soldiers, low rates prevailed. They were also noted for their dedication and commitment during the Spanish-American War and other engagements during the late 1800s.
During World War I, each unit received stateside assignments, with some exceptions. Yet, neither unit saw action during World War II. In 1944, the Army activated both regiments and transferred service members to other units, as integration in the military began.
In honor of the first Buffalo Soldiers Day in 1992, General Colin Powell dedicated a monument to the Buffalo Soldier. It’s located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers were based. The Buffalo Soldier Museum is located in Houston, Texas.
On September 6, 2005, the oldest living Buffalo Soldier died. Mark Matthews lived to be 111 years old. For his dedicated services, he was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

NATIONAL PARENTS’ DAY
National Parents’ Day honors all parents on the fourth Sunday in July. No matter where our parents may be, this day serves to celebrate their important role in our lives.
In May we celebrated mothers, and in June we celebrated fathers. It follows that in July we can bring all our parents together and show them some appreciation all at once.
Parents play a vital role in the lives of children. From our birth, parents protect, teach, provide, and serve as role models. As part of a family, we look to them for guidance. We mirror their behavior and learn to be a core part of our communities.
Throughout our lives, our parents lead us to be independent thinking individuals. As many of us know, those efforts can be challenging. The world is changing as quickly as they grow. Often the sleepless nights and worry seem endless. On this particular Sunday, we honor all parents who do everything to raise and protect their children.

NATIONAL MILK CHOCOLATE DAY
Dive into the ever-popular National Milk Chocolate Day on July 28. When it comes to chocolate, this sweet easily pleases. Since the days are heating up, melt that chocolate down. Drizzle it on some ice cream or mix it into some popcorn. Nobody said this holiday would be difficult. We’ve been adding milk to chocolate beverages since the mid-17th century. But, in 1875 Daniel Peter invented milk chocolate by mixing a powdered milk developed by Henri Nestlé with the liquor. It’s been milk chocolate bliss ever since.
Solid chocolate, when combined with either powdered, liquid or condensed milk, is known as milk chocolate. While candy bar makers use milk chocolate to make their most popular candy bars, the treat isn’t the healthiest of the chocolates. Dark chocolate takes home the honors for nutrition. With added sugar and fat, milk chocolate packs on the calories. Add to that, milk chocolate’s popularity in baked goods, and the calorie count keeps going up. Don’t forget, we add it to specialty coffee drinks and other beverages, too.
On average, we recognize three chocolate holidays a month. Interestingly, July celebrates chocolate as often as February.

Thank you so much for the info on the walk-in shower. I will check to see if they are in our area and if so, will make a call. Unfortunately, I am looking at renovating the entire bathroom to accommodate a wheelchair. I am also thinking that it may be easier to move into a home that has no stairs in the entry area or to the lanai and is wheelchair accessible.
