AMERICAN FAMILY DAY

American Family Day falls on the first Sunday in August encourages us to enjoy the waning summer rays with those dearest to us. Use this National Day to spend time with your family and make some memories that will last a lifetime.

American Family Day encourages families to spend time with one another. Unlike some other familial holidays, the proclamation of the day discourages gift giving. Instead, the observance urges focusing on family relationships by having fun, relaxing, and catching up on the lives of family members.

Sometimes we all need a reminder to focus on our family. We get caught up in the business of life. In fact, our busy lives sometimes prevent the whole family from getting together at the same time. American Family Day is the perfect time to check in on each other. Connecting with those who mean the most to us maintains our foundations. Even our newest family members need nurturing, so they continue to grow and blossom. The best gift we can give our families is ourselves.

NATIONAL SISTERS DAY

National Sisters Day on the first Sunday in August celebrates the unique bond between sisters. This particular set of siblings embrace moments that make them laugh and cringe. While they don’t always agree, sisters have each other’s backs.

All siblings have the odd argument here and there, but deep down there’s little way around the natural connection between siblings. Even those who don’t have a natural sister sibling know the bonds of sisterhood. Those who forge a relationship with their spouse’s sisters understand. Also, women who support each other through difficult times form a sisterhood.

No two sisters are alike. From love interests to cars, sisters will disagree. And food, cleaning, and children require interventions. However, we rely on each other while privately envying a sister’s style, ability or grace. A sister understands when no one else does, sometimes when even you don’t. So, sister time provides vital healing.

Whether your sisters harassed you from day one or found you later in life, this day brings you back together. Cherish the memories and make plans to create new ones. Reconnect or patch up any misunderstandings. Sisters are forever.

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DAY

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on August 4 gives us an opportunity to dunk America’s #1 favorite cookie in a tall glass of ice cold milk, coffee, or tea! Whether yours are homemade or store bought, the only way to celebrate is to indulge in chocolate chip cookies.

Without chocolate chips, the cookie would still be number one. Or would it?

For that reason, we also recognize Ruth Graves Wakefield on National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. Thanks to her inventiveness and curiosity, chocolate chips and a cookie dough go together. And for this reason, we hover around ovens savoring the moment the timer dings.

NATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY

On the first Sunday in August, we celebrate National Friendship Day to encourages people across the world to connect with friends. Expand your view of the world by making a new friend or reconnecting with an old friend on National Friendship Day.

Friendships come in many forms, and we begin developing them when we’re very young. Throughout our lives, friendships and their meanings evolve. Our classmates and neighborhood pals explored the world with us. Together we shared experiences and made plans for the future. Eventually, paths diverge and new friends find a place in our social experience. Our world expands and our culture changes.

With each new friend, we expand our view of the world. Their experiences contribute to new meaning in our lives. Through friendships, we grow and broaden our horizons. Eventually, the world becomes smaller and more connected.

The drink looks so refreshing. I was just about to go to the kitchen to see what I could throw together that would be thirst quenching. I am totally relaxed. Just had a couple of spoonful of ice cream. Stuck my head out the front door and it is really humid and hot. I will be seeing hubby tomorrow. Have a couple of things I washed. Just thought that all the washing I need to do may not be entirely helpful. His linens are washed in the Rehab with probably the same soap. He cannot wait to come home and is making exceptional progress. Time will tell what he can and cannot do.

The medication is working on my headaches. For now, the migraines are gone. However, the back pain is something else and these meds state no aspirin, Tylenol, Excedrin, Advil, etc.. I forgot that weather like this is conducive to aches and pains as well. No happy medium, however, glad the migraines are gone.
