Well the hike was great until the last 1/4. I came face to face with a bobcat on a busy day on a busy path. What? Some people coming towards me thought it was my dog. That’s how close the encounter was, well it was a beautiful healthy animal and started to head towards me as I backed away. Took my pole and started hitting the ground with it and it decided to go to the side into the woods just as those people were coming towards me thinking it was a big dog. There is more to this but you get the picture. I am surprised because it’s a busy area on a Saturday. Ugh.
Stay warm in Oz and hope the cats are doing well. I know Poppy is!

Girls my husband brought these HD beauties for me. I had posted the pin on the new
Heidi Daus Thread I never dreamed I would get all the pieces so soon.

Hubby thought I was really hurt after falling on Ice and hitting my head. I feel so much better.

All I had was a Goose Egg Bump in the back of my head. I thank god our son was still home.

Good morning in Florida Xango I hope you are doing great. I did tumble backward on
some Ice near my home. I am doing fine I just have a large bump on the back of my head.
I have never fallen in my life outside. I did not know there was ice and before I could jump or
do anything I was woman down. Poppy stayed by my side. I made it back in the house and
I am thanking god my son is still here as he made sure I got medical attention.

Anyway welcome to the new year yeah there are glitches in the HSN System I did wrote
several times and they are working on it and I thank them for that.

Ice.

I am thankful that you are OK and that the men in your life were around when danger hit. I do not mind the snow, but ice storms do bother me. House in Ct. faces North, so when there is a melt, I need to be extra careful of the front steps and the sidewalk. This area becomes an ice skating rink and hope that the grass area is safe. Thankfully, you are on the mend.

I am using some time on the computer doing research. Hubby will be coming home. The WHEN is the iffy part. I am looking at the Hoverround which can be used outdoors as well as indoors. It will enable hubby to move around and the best part, the chair lifts up so he will be able to use the stove top and pull some edibles from the frig. Looking at this led me to another thing. An electric chairlift that is not only portable but can go into a tub or shower. Everything is waterproof including the remote. I just wish I knew about this thing at the time hubby was falling out of bed. It goes flat to the floor. All a person needs to do is either crawl or roll or shimmy to the seat. Person takes the remote and the seat can go from floor to 21.” I am finding all kinds of things that we can use. The seat comes fully assembled. All one needs to do is install the remote at the back of the lift. That’s it. I don’t think this will help hubby get in and out of a tub. However, it may come in handy for the shower. Or, the wheelchair can work for this as well. The one thing I do like is that hubby will still be independent. With the chair lift he will be able to get in and out of bed on his own. sit in a chair or sofa. I have also learned that there are ways for the handicapped to get in and our of a vehicle. My only question thus far are the stairs inside the raised ranch. I am thinking of an elevator chairlift. I will be looking at all different things in the next couple of months. Best of all, hubby, loves the ideas and returning home is no longer a question, but when. Right now he is receiving physical therapy. They are following the 2nd physician’s recommendation. In hubby’s case, plateau, cannot happen. The best outcome will be standing on the good leg and using the other as a helper. Walking may never happen, but knowing that there are things out there that can help is putting our minds in a different place. The new words in our vocabulary is “CAN DO.” It’s hard work, but the end can be so rewarding. Either way, we are prepared.

Anyways, sorry to hear you slipped and fell on the ice. It must have been scary and hurt.
The new trail is working well and a bit safer. It’s been a bit muddy and slippery but not too bad.
We did not get as much rain as other areas but did get rain and this meant hubs found a little leak. Not sure I would have noticed it.
The Covid is over and done and I started testing negative about a week ago. Now I am in disinfecting mode.

Hockey team is doing lousy. I was supposed to go to the game tonight but haven’t felt good for a couple days so my husband is taking his friend. Best place for me is on the couch with a blanket.😌 Making some soup for dinner. Mom and sis are fine, starting to get things together for their trip.

Oodie you have been on my mind for two weeks. I pray all is well with you and hubby.
I also want to wish you a very happy belated birthday. I did not forget. ✨

Oodie I was out with Poppy the other day and we had Ice I fell and hit the back of my
head all I have is a goosebump. ✨😎 Thank god I am strong and agile. I never saw it
coming. Poppy did not leave me he stayed with me and no one was home on my block
when it happened. I am thankful I am alright.

Please let me know how you and hubby are doing. I have missed the Community but I
had plenty to do I was not bored.

It’s so good to be back. Missed you all, and like Sheba, I was quite busy. Thanks so much for the belated birthday greetings. Hubby thought it was our anniversary which has always made me laugh. So that was nothing new. We are both fine and hubby is still in rehab. But, Sheba, falling on ice is no fun and hitting you r head, not a good idea. I do know that feeling quite well when I fell backwards while cleaning the stairway at our Ct. home and hit the back of my head against the wooden door. Like, you, I was fortunate that all I had was a few areas of tenderness and some swelling. See stairs, I either fall stepping up or stepping down. Steps have been my nemesis from childhood.

I have some updates for you on hubby. On January 19th we had an appointment with the orthopedist that we have been seeing for two years or more. X-rays were again taken. This time our appointment lasted no more than 10 minutes (probably less). The left knee is inoperable because there is too much destruction and the other reason is he does not remember dates which could be a form of dementia. Right in front of us he said, and I will quote: “Your husband belongs in a convalescent home. Assisted living is out of the question.” Then he left. Of course my husband was upset and tears were flowing when we reached the waiting area for his ride back to rehab. I did ask for alternatives. There were none. Over the weekend and into the beginning of the following week, I did some research and found another physician who said surgery was the last option. This group sounded good and as I delved further found that one of the orthopedists was the top in his field and one was the head of the department at the hospital. I made a phone call and secured an appointment for last Friday. Again, x-rays were taken and this doctor also felt that the left knee was too deformed for a surgical procedure. He explained that surgery may or may not work and could impair his health which right now is OK. I suppose he is at that awkward age. However, he felt that therapy could help in the long run. He may never walk again, but he will be able to use the right leg to stand and maybe eventually, the left one may come around so he can take a few steps. He will never have the full range, but at least he will be able to return home and do the things he loves. As far as the dementia goes, there are many new and exciting things happening and we are both game to see how the new meds would work. These meds will be good for any stage the person is in, though the onset would show more of a sustain relief. My main concern is to return North of course. However, being that the house in Ct. is a raised ranch, concern is for mobility to get to the top floor where our main rooms are located. The Cape house is better equipped. We have a few months to toy with the idea. One thing for sure is that I will not leave without him. And, yes, I will make sure that we will have the help we need at home. That’s it for now. Glad to see we are back. I think the last thing I saw posted was Shoelady stating that for some reason Community wasn’t being updated. Me. I couldn’t sign in. Thought for sure Community was going by the wayside. Contacted CS several times and knew there was something going on. At least, I was still able to “window shop” and purchase. 😀😎😀

You are correct, my husband has had covid three times. The first time was the worst. It was before the vaccines were out and before home/pharmacy tests were available. He had to go to a hospital for a test. He was very sick and ended up with the infusion. I probably had it also at that time but didn’t go for a test since I only felt like I had a cold for about two days and did not get sick like him. The other two times I tested negative. Maybe I’m immune by now. He belongs to three different gyms so go figure. Hope your house is getting back to normal.🤞

I have been out with Poppy I can see him as the snow has stopped but the other half

NATIONAL OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER DAY

National Oysters Rockefeller Day on January 10th recognizes a dish so rich there was only one man’s name this dish could bear at the time. At least, that’s the story according to the chef who so masterfully created famous recipes in the French Quarter.

In 1889 in the renowned kitchen of Antoine’s, Jules Alciatore developed a recipe for baked oysters on the half shell with sauce and bread crumbs that would earn the name Oysters Rockefeller. A dish so rich Alciatore himself admitted, “…I know of no other name rich enough for their richness.”

While other restaurants serve similar dishes, only historic Antoine’s (founded by Antoine Alciatore, Jules Alciatore’s father in 1840) serves the original Oysters Rockefeller. Food Network’s Alton Brown even told us on Good Eats that Alciatore took the recipe to his grave. Others have tried to determine the finer ingredients without success. Only Antoine’s and the Alciatore family have the authentic recipe.

Having served over 3.5 million orders of Oysters Rockefeller, and counting, Antoine’s recipe has withstood the test of time and garnered the praises of culinary critics. Since 1889, the restaurant has numbered each order. Even today’s customers receive their privileged number identifying their place in the history of Oysters Rockefeller.

Sheba, Hello. My symptoms seem mild compared to all the Covid stories out there. Luckily. I think with Covid you test positive longer than the actual symptoms. Not sure. but it seems like that may be. I’m staying in and isolating, with more Covid tests arriving tomorrow. The antiseptic mouthwash works great. My throat was better within the day. I use it a few times a day or more. Wish I had thought to do that when my son initially tested positive. I haven’t taken any meds yet and barely have a fever. Feeling lucky.
Oz sounds so cold. With all that snow Poppy might need a bright bow to wear. Hope your fireplaces are in use. Glad your son can stay around longer, makes for a great time!

I did not expect to see you post tonight. I am so glad you did and you are having mild
symptoms. Taci when I had Covid I did not post as much I thank god I had no coughing
but I did have an anti-viral five day course of meds as you know I am a BC patient so this
is what was recommend for me. It worked and I was fine after a week. Hubby did not take
anything.

Rest now and let us know how you are doing after your test tomorrow. Hey I have never
stopped masking up. So glad your son is back on his feet.

Sorry you are dealing with covid, sounds like all in the family. My husband was coughing yesterday so I tested him and he was negative. I woke up with a drippy nose and slight sore throat so I hope it’s just a cold. If worse tomorrow, I will test me. So many things going around you don’t know what you have anymore. Relax and get better.

Good morning in Florida. Xango OZ is snowing and we are below freezing I am hoping
not only the pipes not freeze but no trees fall and take out a transformer. We have a lot
trees in my area of the City and they do fall when the Wind Gust is high and lots of heavy
snow are on the fragile tree limbs.

I am just hoping to get through the day. Hubby and son are home today I am so glad.
Hubby and son are doing the sidewalk and driveway and there is a lot of snow to plow.
We are also doing our elderly neighbor driveway as well.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I hope your water situation is fixed today.
If you are at the Rehab with your husband enjoy a good book and his company.

Oodie Oz is frozen and the snow is a heavy snow. Hubby and son are out doing the Driveway
and the sidewalks. We are also helping out our elderly neighbor he lives alone and has a
pacemaker in his heart.

I have to keep an eye on Poppy because the snow is so high he gets lost in it. LOL!

Our son said he can stay another two weeks and we are very happy. Son had to check in
with his girlfriend to make sure that was alright.

So glad he is here to help with certain things I am making stew today.
Oodie our pipes do have insulation to help keep them from freezing but we will be
in single digits this weekend and they have frozen in the past I am knocking on wood.
Our neighbor across the street my friend who went to Greece well her heating system
went out the company was waiting on a part and it was going on two days she was cold
so she rented a hotel room to stay until the part comes that was smart because the whole
City is shut down no school on either side of the State-Line. I am in Kansas and across the
street is MO. We have a fine mess with many accidents going on around the City. My family
is staying put.

I had to get a special mix of Ice Melt so the animals paws do not get affected. All our kids
have pets and one daughter told me to get Keep It Green Snow & Ice Melt.

Oodie I hope you are nice and warm and enjoying your day with your husband.

The water has been turned on. Since our hot water heater is electric, had to shut it down during the repairs. We had water when I arrived and everything is OK. Our weather here will be awful starting this afternoon. We expect high winds and rain. However, Tallahassee Has had several tornados and those are now heading to the Atlantic and then Northeastward. I think I read that there is another storm for the weekend. They are expecting beach erosion and flooding along the coast. Temperatures are in the mid 70s and tonight will be around 65. At least I will not have to water the outdoor plants. I am hoping to get some of his laundry done today and will hope that our electrical will not be affected by the winds. Xango may have it worse than us. She and her husband are not far from Tampa and they will probably have stronger winds and more rain than us. Tampa may also be under the gun so to speak with
tornados.

I did leave a message with the head nurse stating how disappointed I was seeing hubby in bed yesterday afternoon and that he complained about the stiffness in his legs. I will be on my way there as soon as the laundry is done and folded.

Another suggestion is to have small, electrical heaters near the pipes. Just make sure that the heaters are not on high and that they are near the area and not on top of.

Wow…..staying another week…….wonderful. But, not being with his girlfriend, not a good idea. Unless, of course, he plans on dating others. However, on another note, weather may not be conducive to travelling at this time.

We had outages in our City of around 60,000 people without power.
Many services has been restored but not all there are thousands with no power
due to large trees falling on the power lines. Oz power lines leave a bit to be desired.

The water pipes can just freeze and we have three bathrooms in a ten room house.
I keep a fire place on until bedtime. So far so good but we will be in single digits this
weekend. I am more concerned about the animals than I am anything. I can seek shelter
and wait for a repair but they depend on me.

My son only stayed longer because we had a death in the family remember right around
Christmas he knew he was needed and I am so thankful he stayed. Our son has been with
his girlfriend for three years they are strong and she is working on her Masters so this is a nice
break for them both no one is going anywhere. Son was a big help with all the snow and helping us build the animal house son is also having fun with his friends.

I wish all four of our children could come and stay home. We are 20 degrees as I type this.

No laundry today. It was calm all morning with a little bit of sun and then around noon, well, the wind picked up and then later the rain came. Rain wasn’t so bad, but the wind…..I did see hubby today. When I arrived he was in the wheelchair and fully dressed. He mentioned that the rehab lost power during a thunderstorm. Funny, we are only 8 miles a part and we had nothing like he had. After about an hour and a half he said he needed to get into bed. I rang for the aides and they did come but mentioned it would be awhile before they could help hubby. Hubby got tired of waiting and took the “bull by the horns” as the saying goes. I pulled the sheets off the bed and then lowered it almost to the floor. Remade the bed, and then hubby wheeled himself to the bed and without any difficulty got in with no help. He breathed a sigh of relief at that point. The aides showed up after 10 pm and I stayed to make sure he was comfy. I am home now and will do a few things before going to bed. So glad that you have an extra pair of hands to help. Guess there is more for the weekend and oh yes, just received an e-mail that our water will be shut off on Thursday. II had a feeing they weren’t done.

Good morning in S. California so glad your son is doing great. YAY!
I know he is glad to be back at work being sick is no fun.

Taci Poppy got lost in the snow this morning I had to really look for him.
Hubby and son are doing driveways and sidewalks.

My friend across the street her furnace went out two days ago. I did not know this
I called her yesterday and she told me everything she was heading to a Hotel to
do her work she is a College Professor she said she was fine. I could have put her up
until her furnace was up and running but she is very independent and just wanted her
space. The cats go to her backyard so I am going back and forth across the street.
I ask her a while back if it was alright if I leave food and water for them and she said
of course I was so glad she said that.

Well Taci I am thankful our son is still here and will be for another two weeks.
Today of all days is when we really need him. We have tree limbs already down.

sheba, glad you found Poppy. Sounds like a brief moment of fear. Oz sounds so cold. Well, my turn. Tested positive today. Isolating didn’t help a whole lot. I have a low grade headache and congestion.

Oz is frozen and getting colder by the minute right now we are at 29 degrees with no
end in sight for snow.

I will not tire you out as I am sure your husband has the snow blower powered up by now.
We have a snow blower and it sure do come in handy.

Good afternoon in snowy Oz.🥶 Woke up to a layer of snow, then a mix and now rain. Hubs left early for an appointment and shoveled the driveway. By the time I left, about an hour later, it was covered again and I slid in and out of the mulch along the driveway. What a mess. We may have a bit more tomorrow morning but not as much as you are getting. But it will be cold by the weekend, highs in the 20’s, so I will be watching the pipes like you. Been there, done that with the tree limbs falling from snow and wind and power outages. Also watched whole trees fall from my kitchen window.😲 Wishing you and the family a safe evening.

Pulled a muscle in my leg, don’t ask me how. One minute it was fine, the next not. Wasn’t doing anything strenuous.😣 Guess I have to start blaming old age. Sending hugs and, hopefully, sunshine your way soon.🤗💖🌞 Don’t lose Mr. P.!!!
