Conversation – 18

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 18 out of the series. I created and started this thread 9 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Hi and good evening. I am currently with hubby at the rehab. We will need another appointment to see the functioning of the bladder. It is non evasive, but takes an hour and fifteen minutes. I will be leaving shortly to pick up an Asian takeout. The urologist mentioned that hubby needs to drink more liquids as well as to start moving around more. Hmm……this has been something I have mentioned on numerous occasions.
I will try to make it to Trivia, not positive. I know someone will start it off. Still temps in 90s with high humidity. A/C still not working, but the service people have been here and left the ceiling vents opened with the wires hanging down. Oh my…
I will write more when I return home.

Yikes!!! It’s after 3 am. Fell asleep at the computer again. I just wanted to pop in to thank you for starting Trivia. You did an awesome job. Loved the gifs.
I am very concerned with hubby. He isn’t eating the food at rehab. Seems he likes what I make which I find is a good compliment. However with the A/C not working the humidity and heat is taking a toll. I would love nothing better than together him into the van and to spend some time at Costco. I think it would do a world of good. Just need to think of a way to get him into and out of the van. His room today was still a bit warm but not as bad.
I will be going to Lowes today then on to Costco. Also will be working in the kitchen. After this project the MB. Oh ordered two end tables for the den through Wayfair. I have always been reluctant ordering things sight unseen. But. I was totally surprised when these came yesterday. Exactly as pictured. All wood. Best of all they were intact. No assembly needed. Also ordered a garden table a.nd that was delivered yesterday. This is for the !anai, but could also be used in the MB. Colors run from a light turquoise to a deep teal. Could be the Gulf or the Caribbean. The table also has fish scales throughout. What a catch. I will open it first thing in the morning.
Now to get some sleep.

National Pink Day is celebrated on June 23 every year. As you might imagine, it’s a day to celebrate the meaning, history, and beauty of the pale shade of red. Surveys in both the United States and Europe found pink to be most commonly associated with femininity, sensitivity and tenderness. From pink being a subject of recent pop culture, to interesting facts about the delightful shade throughout time, the day celebrates all things pink. After all, as Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde” once famously said, “Whoever said orange is the new pink is seriously disturbed!”
WHEN IS NATIONAL PINK DAY 2023?
The soft hues and beautiful spectrum of the color pink are celebrated on National Pink Day on June 23.HISTORY OF NATIONAL PINK DAY
As is the case with a number of digital-age holidays, the exact origins and celebrations of National Pink Day are lost in time. What we do know is that when combined with white, pink has long been a symbol of femininity, grace, and chastity, whereas when combined with black, it calls up the prurient interests. In reverse chronological order, starting with recent pop culture, pink as a color and word has had many uses. In the 90s-era Aerosmith song “Pink,” Steven Tyler croons, “Pink on the lips of your lover / ‘Cause pink is the love you discover…” This is an illustration of the sense of femininity and romance the color has come to represent. But believe it or not, in the old days, pink was worn by boys in infancy and was considered a “stronger” color than blue. Before the 1940s, that’s just how it was.
Even farther back, in the 1700s, we have the first use of the word “pink” to describe pale red, derived from the class of flowers called “the pinks.” Until then, pink was simply that, a flower, and the use of the word referred to a flower in the sense of, “His mother is the flower of dependability,” as in, the paragon or the prime example. In fact, the character Mercutio in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” has a line in which he says, “Nay, I am the very pinck of curtesie,” of course meaning he’s the most well-mannered chap you’re likely to find!
It’s not uncommon today for men to own and wear a couple of pink dress shirts, a phenomenon that evolved in the 1980s when the browns and mustard-yellows of the 70s finally fell out of fashion. Perhaps pink business clothing was first meant as a sign of solidarity with the then-burgeoning feminist movement.
In the interest of staying sharp, staying current, let’s hear from the singer Pink on human nature. “True beauty is knowing who you are and what you want and never apologizing for it.” That’s the true attitude not only of the American songstress, but the color pink itself.
