Conversation – 17
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

@Sheba
Hello Sheba, how are you and Poppy up to this afternoon? You are multitasking today, that always keeps one very busy.
Thank you for the beautiful flowers, as I looked out my front window I noticed one of the Hibiscus tree is has two flowers and several buds. The other has lots of buds too. We are having very cold days, I was surprised I am hoping they don’t fall off.
It’s a rainy, cold day today, and tomorrow also. On Friday, I have an appointment in Orlando and its suppose to be raining here. If time permits I want to make a stop at Seabra foods.
Right now I have a pot of soup on the stove, I love soups. I always have to have it, specially in the winter, it makes to house smell delicious.
Take care Sheba and stay warm and safe. -
You are right, can’t get that game out of my head.🤪 The mayor of KC is also getting BBQ🐖 from the mayor of the ‘burgh since KC beat the Steelers two weeks ago. I think he also wore a KC shirt yesterday or today. Caught a glimpse on the news.
We got more snow yesterday and it is getting way cold next couple days, low around -2.❄🥶 I don’t think we’ve been above freezing in two weeks. More snow Thursday night into Friday but we should miss the storm on the east coast this weekend. Spring can’t come too soon.😎

Hi. Worked on the inside of the car this afternoon. Tomorrow is the day for the long drive to do the six month checkup and to get rid of the warning signs in the car. Looking forward to the ride home so we can stop at Costco, Farmer’s Market and Trader Joe. We also bypass Aldi’s but that will depend upon the traffic since a left turn is needed.
Yes, I cleaned the car out. Hubby got cold feet and ran inside (well, casually walked). Yes, it is cold out and damp as well. We are getting some much needed rain. I surmise the weather tomorrow will be a tad warmer and the sun will be out. I am still waiting for a call from the cardiologist that is recommended by our physician. As I said previously, once we are able to return North will take a ride into Boston for a specialist. That will be a priority.
The new pegs for the shelf arrived today. And the shelf has been installed, but may have to tread carefully. I am thinking of putting the lightweight towels and face cloths on that shelf and the bath towels on the lower. I have a feeling that the top shelf may not be that secured, but at least it’s in and not lopsided. I was able to stay within the 5mm peg, however, this one is wider and does seem to look OK.
Yes, the heat is on. May push it up a bit so I can take a shower without freezing. Need to wash the hair as well. Looking forward to tomorrow, but not looking to getting up at the crack of dawn. YIKES !!!!! On the QT, we also bypass Homegoods. Have not been in that store in over a year and yes, I really need a fix. But, it will take me at least an hour or so to go through everything so will put it off AGAIN, and maybe it is just as well. I didn’t know I had willpower.
Again, thank you for the flowers yesterday. I think I will pick up a bouquet at Traders.

Ways We Numb Ourselves
Numbing yourself prevents you from confronting your issues and keeps you from ever finding resolution or peace.
We are born equipped to experience a complex array of diverse emotions. Many of us, however, are uncomfortable confronting our most powerful emotions. We may shy away from delight and despair and deny life’s colors by retreating into a world of monotone grey. We may numb ourselves to what we are truly feeling. It’s easier to suppress our emotions than to deal with them, so we may momentarily turn to pleasures such as alcohol, food, sugar, shopping and too much television. We may even numb our hearts. While it’s normal to temporarily seek distractions as a means of coping with intense emotions, numbing yourself prevents you from confronting your issues and keeps you from ever finding resolution or peace. When you are numb, there is no pain or powerlessness, but there can also be no joy or healing.
The activities that numb you may seem harmless or pleasurable, but using them to numb yourself diminishes the quality of your life. Numbing yourself so that you don’t have to feel intense emotions can often satisfy a surface need while blocking your awareness of a deeper need. You may find solace in food or shopping when what you really need is spiritual nourishment. The less you feel, the less alive you feel. Your feelings add vividness to your experiences and serve to connect you to the world around you. It is possible to disavow yourself of numbing behaviors a little at a time and once again taste life’s rich flavors. When you sense that you are engaging in a particular behavior simply to deaden your emotions, stop and ask yourself why. Examining the feelings that drive you to numb yourself can help you understand what is triggering your desire to emotionally fade out.
With each numbing activity that you cut out of your life, you’ll find yourself being more aware and experiencing a greater emotional acuity. Senses once shrouded by the fog of numbness become sharp and acute. Traumas and pain long hidden will emerge to the forefront of your consciousness and reveal themselves so that you can heal them. You’ll discover a deeper you — a self that is comfortable experiencing and working through intense emotions with courage and grace. AMEN! ✨✨
