I was going to say the same thing to Oodiebom she is invited and here is one of the
movies we will be watching. Lady I have never seen this movie and I always wanted to see
it. I do remember Lawrence Harvey and I love Frank Sinatra many surprises in this film.

Xango, I hope each day gets a little easier for you both. I am so glad your BIL is there, he can be a big support since he knows what it is all about. My husband had double bypass and I had a valve replacement so the breathing problems are normal. That spirometer was a thorn in my side! Tiny steps each day.👍🙏💖

Since my sister already booked her flight back home, she will not stay longer. She leaves the end of August and will be back here the end of October (who knows, that is what is planned). She wasn’t sure what she was going to do about the cancelled cruise. The offer to rebook another one doesn’t fall within her time in Cali. And this cruise was a free one she got through her casino. She said she will talk to them about options.

Oodie, you are invited to the party, too!! You bring the popcorn and salad, Sheba will bring the pizza and I will provide all drinks and overnight accommodations.🍿🥗🍕🧉🍸🍺😴

Good afternoon. Hot and muggy here. No rain. Cloudy all day which may be from the Sahara. I hope your hubby is feeling better and is more comfy. Time will heal the difficulties with the breathing. Hopefully, he is sitting up better and the nurses have helped him out of bed to walk a bit. You are so right about the ICU. The rooms are quite small so there is little room for anything extra after the bed. I mentioned a pillow for your back and hip. It could be anything that will give you some comfort not only for the areas that ail you, but also for the rump. I had that problem when hubby was in rehab in Savannah. I took the lap comforter from the van and used that on the hard seat. Guess they weren’t expecting me to stay all day and be with him every day. It wasn’t a folding chair, but an upright one with a vinyl seat. I swear there was absolutely no foam in that vinyl.

Ok, I know that air travel cancellations are happening almost daily, but cruises cancelling?? Never happens unless it’s the pandemic, god forbid. I surmise sis will stay a little longer???? Or, is she
looking for something to fill in that time slot.

Hmm……on hubby;s surgery. I think it’s 4 cancellations thus far. The first cancellation was made by the hospital because they needed a cardiologist’s report. That we could not get in time. The second one was because the original surgeon is now in another hospital that had bad reviews (I mean real bad). The third time he had taken his BP pills less than twelve hours apart on an empty stomach and consequently became somewhat delirious once the block had set in. The surgeon stayed with him while he went to cardiology and neurology. After that episode he recommended a neurologist who asked for a blood test which we did a week prior to surgery. Our surgeon never received a copy of those results. The 4th time was this past Monday when I caught him coming from the kitchen. I asked if he ate anything. Answer was a bite of something. I reported it, even though he may have been pulling my leg. The next schedule date is August 24th. I have not heard back on the confirmation. The assistant needed to check with the hospital and will get back to me. So far no phone call. I am hoping there is nothing wrong.

For your movie tonight I am sending you some popcorn. Since I do not know if you want it plain or not, sending one buttered and one plain. Prior, how about a pizza with everything on it. I’m leaving out the anchovies because there is salt in the popcorn. And I will include a salad with the pizza. That way Sheba can carry the ingredients for the bachelorette party without having to carry the pizza as well. I don’t like seeing a juggling act to the front door. 🍕🍕🍿🍿🥗🥗🥡🍤🍤 Enjoy !!!!

Hi Oodie, you are right, I am a bachelorette for the next four days. I will enjoy reading, sewing, eating, cleaning and whatever else comes up whatever time of day I like!😊 This happens every August and I do look forward to it.

I sure hope the third time is the charm, this is the longest knee operation ever!😄 It has to get done so you can go north – good luck!🤞🙏

Good afternoon to you. Weather is perfect for the next four days, sunny, high temps upper 70s and lows in the 50s, yay!🌞😊 No a/c or ceiling fans needed. Husband left this morning for his golf trip so I will do what I want when I want.

I almost watched that movie the other night. I know they are highlighting an actor/actress each day. Funny, they had Elvis on the day before I went to see the current movie. I did watch some Gene Kelly ones. Like you, I so enjoy the older flicks.🎬

Mom and sis are fine. Sis’s cruise in September got cancelled, one ship on Princess cancelled eleven cruise dates because of staffing/visa problems. So now you can’t count on the airlines or the cruise lines.😥

Big weekend with concerts in the ‘burgh – Billy Joel tonight, Motley Crue/Def Leppard/Poison and Joan Jett tomorrow, Metallica on Sunday and first pre-season football game Saturday. Glad the weather will be good.🎶🎤🎹 Join me for a drink and movie tonight!🍹🎬✨

Cultivating Community

Working with neighbors to ensure the well-being of the group can be a wonderful way to build a community.

Many of our relationships can be fleeting or do not deepen past a superficial level, yet these connections, as trivial as they can seem, often have the potential to grow into something much more essential. When we crave community, we should focus our attention on these casual acquaintances. To forge a bond with neighbors, we need to work together with them so that we have a context from which to begin a more mature relationship. Sharing tasks that are part of living can be a wonderful way to become a part of a larger community, make new friends, and lighten the workloads of everyone involved.

Creating a network of neighbors who agree to pool certain resources and share daily duties can be as easy as taking the initiative. If you are willing to take the first step by reaching out to the individuals and families who share your building or your street, you will likely find that others are receptive to the notion. Starting small, with just a few people, can help you orchestrate a smoothly running system. Together, you will need to decide what chores you want to do communally and what resources can be shared. Ideas for community sharing are child care, errands, housework, keeping a joint garden, cooking for the group, and carpooling. For instance, if you cook large meals for four neighbors once a week, you take off four nights after that. As you grow to trust one another, you can begin adding new members to your evolving network or introducing new tasks to your shared roster of duties.

Actions speak louder than words, so working closely with neighbors to ensure the well-being of the group can be a wonderful way to build a sense of community in your locale. Not everyone you approach will be open to the idea of becoming a part of a network of sharing. As you connect with those who do appreciate the merits of such a system, you will discover that others are just as eager as you are to create interpersonal connections that are defined by substance.
