Had problems with the faucet in the MB. It kept dripping no matter what I did. Finally got to bed around 7 am and awoke after 9am.. Went to turn the faucet on, NO WATER. After much frustration decided to check e-mail and that’s when I learned that the water main broke. The water finally came on just before Trivia started. And yes, the faucet in the MB is OK. But, no work was accomplished today. You never realize how dependent we are on certain things until the unlikely happens. I will be up doing the kitchen chores following Trivia.

The stir fry last night was wonderful. Everything came together. Hubby kept going for seconds and thirds and even enjoyed it for breakfast. Hardest part was the cutting of veggies, and meat. The meat was still frozen so I nuked it for about a minute and a half or so. Slicing the meat was so easy. Also made rice and stirred that in as well. Tomorrow will make congee with fish. This is the Asian oatmeal and one of my favorite dishes. It’s a rice dish. I just have to add some water to the rice and add in scallions and other veggies and of course the fish. Any fish will do. In our case not sure if it will be salmon or cod.

Yes, I emptied the cabinet totally. I found the shut off valve at the bottom. Will thoroughly clean that area and will put everything, well most everything back. Some things I am questioning. I think we will need a new faucet there and I have a couple of new ones in the hallway closet.

Well enough said. Going to play a couple of games until the next question. Have a great evening and stay safe. That goes for Poppy and hubby and your family.

Mom Friday turned into mom Saturday since her hair appointment got cancelled today.🙁 So will be spending the day with her tomorrow.

Plans for Labor Day is to take mom shopping then back to my house for dinner. No, I am not cooking, will order out since I know I will be tired. May stop at the farmer’s market for some good tomatoes over the weekend.🍅 We had fried green tomatoes yesterday for dinner.

Keeping finger crossed, again, for the match tonight.🤞 Sending hugs westward to you, Poppy and Charlie, try to catch them!!🤗💖

Elevate Your Language

Choose to be more conscious, putting to rest words and phrases that are outmoded, insensitive, or harmful.

There are many troubling phrases in our language that we use without considering their full meaning simply because they have been accepted into common use. Even as our ideals progress, our language maintains some phrases from our past that no longer serve us, for example boys don’t cry, boys will be boys, good child, problem child, illegitimate child, and many more. While these phrases may be used without harmful intent, they are inherently negative. Children can be especially sensitive to such phrases, which may stay with them their whole lives, adversely affecting their self-image and wounding their self-esteem. We can create positive change by choosing not to use these words and phrases.

It is challenging to examine our habits in terms of the words we use to express ourselves, but it is also exciting. Language is an area where we can exercise our free will, creating positive change in the world around us by carefully choosing the words we use. It may seem like a small thing, but our words have a rippling effect, like a stone thrown in a pond. People naturally pick up on the way other people speak, consciously or unconsciously changing the way they speak in response. We don’t need to actively try to influence people; it happens without even thinking about it. All we have to do is choose to be more conscious, putting to rest words and phrases that are outmoded, insensitive, or harmful. We can also exercise our creativity by creating new phrases that carry positive and loving energy to replace the old ones.

You may already have some ideas about phrases you’d like to transition out of your language, and now that you’re thinking about it, you may come across many more. As you consciously decide not to use these phrases, you may feel lighter and more joyful, knowing that you have chosen to drop baggage that was handed down to you from a less conscious time. As you do so, you elevate the language for future generations who would no doubt thank you if they could. AMEN! ✨✨😎
