Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

See the pumpkin orange Full Hunter’s Moon of October 2022 rise tonight! Here’s what to expect.
During the Hunter’s Moon the moon may appear larger and more orange than usual.
October’s full moon, the Hunter’s Moon, occurs on Sunday (Oct. 9) when the moon will appear large and orange-hued on the horizon at around sunset.
Skywatchers will be able to see the nearly full moon for several nights before and after the Hunter’s Moon — which gets its name from the fact it once signaled a time to hunt in preparation for the coming winter.
The Hunter’s Moon is the first full moon to follow the Harvest Moon — which fell on Sept. 10 this year. The Harvest Moon itself is the first full moon after the autumnal equinox that signals the start of fall in the northern hemisphere. This makes the Harvest and Hunter’s moons unique as the only full moons that are tied to an astronomical event and can actually happen in different months.
Though the Hunter’s Moon will reach maximum illumination at around 4:54 p.m. EST (2054 GMT) on Sunday, it will still be below the horizon at this time. That means skywatchers will have to wait until sunset to see this full moon.
As the full moon moves above the horizon on Sunday, it may appear larger and more orange, taking on a fitting appearance for the fall season and for the build-up to Halloween. This is the result of something called the ‘moon illusion’ and the fact it is being viewed close to the horizon.
The orange color comes about because as we look at the full moon close to the horizon, the light that it reflects towards us is passing through more of the Earth’s atmosphere than when it is close to overhead.
Molecules in Earth’s atmosphere are really good at scattering photons of blue light which have shorter wavelengths than red light. This means that blue photons bounce around the sky before hitting our eye — and that’s why the sky is blue. Longer wavelength red photons slip right through these molecules and straight to our eye for the most part.
When red photons reflected by the moon have to pass through the thickest part of the atmosphere at the horizon, the chance of them being bounced around is increased.
That’s why the moon appears redder when we look at it close to the horizon, but why does it appear larger? This may be more down to how we perceive objects rather than an actual physical effect. According to Farmer’s Almanac(opens in new tab), when the moon is overhead it is ‘dwarfed’ by the vast horizon. This has the effect of making it appear smaller.
When the moon appears close to the horizon, however, we compare it to fewer celestial objects (which appear small in the sky) and instead contrast it with earthly things like buildings and trees (which appear larger by comparison). This has the effect of making the moon appear massive.
The moon illusion isn’t to be confused with a ‘supermoon’ which broadly refers to a full moon or new moon that appears somewhat larger in the sky thanks to the fact that the moon is closer to the Earth when it occurs.
The last supermoon of 2022 was the full moon in August — also known as the Sturgeon Moon.
After October’s Hunter’s Moon, the next full moon is the Beaver Moon which falls on Nov. 8. After this, the final full moon of 2022 is December’s aptly titled Cold Moon which happens on Dec. 7.

Charlie reminds me so much of Ziggy. I used to call him zigzag. Both he and my mensch were about the same age and were friends. Both were tiger cats. Mine was more vocal. Always answered my questions with a “meow.” At one time I swear he could say “Hi.” Ziggy, in the other hand was my comedian and one who loved to snuggle. He hated his family and growled whenever I used to return him. This family just adored having animals but never took care of them. So ziggy would spend most of the day with us and where he went when he left was anyone’s guess. The last time I saw Zigzag was when he meowed at the front door and I let him in. Mensch had crossed the bridge by that time. Zig actually just wanted to curl up on our couch and he slept the entire day there. He then meowed to be let out and when he left he jumped up onto our cement area that we used for groceries, and gave me a look that I had never seen before. I knew then we would not see each other again. And my last words were Oh no Zig. With that he left me to cry my heart out. I know you will feel the same when that time comes. My only hope is his family doesn’t put him down right away and that could happen sooner because that kitty knows where he can find love, quietude, food and a good snuggle. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Yesterday we went to our Farmer’s Market. Food prices have really gone up in the last two or three weeks. There were notes everywhere from management apologizing and stating they will be trying to lower the prices. There were no empty shelves for veggies or fruit. I was able to pick up a couple of Italian grinders for hubby. They had homemade Amish potato soup which I could not resist. Just have to limit the carbs in hubby’s case. Bread was non existent except for their homemade pumpernickel and their hotdog rolls. Milk, butter and eggs were sold out More apologies here as well. But I did manage to find everything else. One other thing I was able to find was something “CBD.” This is a natural, health care, over the counter oil with a stopper that was recommended by our new neurologist. In doing some research it is actually Hemp and it has many wonderful qualities. Hubby is using a 1/4 of the stopper at night by placing it in his mouth. It’s supposed to relieve pain, anxiety, headaches, etc.. There is a nutritionist who works at this market full time and was able to give me more insight. I actually downloaded a book from Kindle which is quite interesting. I may try this with my sinus headaches which is quite similar to a migraine. I am hoping that this will be our miracle thing to get him to surgery without having the fog. Believe it or not, it is actually less costly at Amazon. It’s also good for anti-aging. Great for wrinkles, though in retrospect, I am not showing any. But tomorrow is another day—who knows????

@oodiebom
Hi Oodie, oh please don’t worry about us, you have your hands full.
How are you and your husband doing? Please get a legit company to work on your home. Florida has many fly-by-night contactors, not licensed and scams. I believe the news said that Manatee County was not charging for work permits, but most likely you still need the permit for work to be done.
Don’t forget to ask for a Certificate of Liability Insurance with your named Certificate Holder. Check Better Business Bureau.Check Sunbiz.org make sure the business is licensed.
It’s quite complicated because the address is for the hospital. As the need progressed they added buildings out of the area in which the hospital is in. All around there are different buildings for various departments etc.
Some are marked as to building number, others are not. But he will call Tuesday and get more of a clear direction.
Nevertheless we had a good trip, on the way back we took the side roads through Plant City. Looking at the country side, the plantations and cows.
Take care Oodie -
@Sheba
Hello Sheba, it is nice to have a long weekend.
Are you going to watch the Hunter’s Full Moon with Poppy, Charlie and your hubby tonight?
Not sure what is for dinner. I just might be knocking on your door, your menu sounds delicious.
By any chance do you have puff pastry in the freezer? And apples in your fruit basket?
If yes, make some apple turnovers.
The same puff pastry can to used to make cheese sticks that goes great with soup.
Roll the sheet out some, brush with an egg wash sprinkle with grated cheese, cut it in long length, twist place on parchment paper and bake.
My grand-nephew is growing fast. I get pictures every week, his deep blue eyes are just so lovely. His older brother who is going on 7 years old has the same blue eyes.
Enjoy your weekend Sheba, take care -
Thank you for taking the time to help me with finding a roofer. I will make a call tomorrow (Monday). Will let you know what happens.
If you haven’t found the right building for your husband’s new job, you probably should contact the hospital for better directions. Another suggestion is to google the address. In most cases google will show you the building and surrounding scenes. For hubby’s doctor appointments that is what I do since I keep forgetting to recharge the GPS. There’s another website also for directions that most of our friends swear by and my cousin as well. /I will send you that info as soon as I hear from her.
Talk to you later.

Following Nature’s Cycles
We cannot have harmony and balance in our lives if we forget to include the earth and natural rhythms in our lives.
Nature, in all its myriad forms, is the most powerful force on earth. Although mankind has tried, we have not found a way to match its awesome power, but we have found ways to work with it. Science often confirms the wisdom of the ancients who observed and then harnessed nature’s rhythms and cycles to shape and enhance their lives. We can begin to do this in our own lives by first paying attention to our own natural rhythms, such as when we wake or when we feel the need to sleep. If possible, we may want to try to rise and sleep with the sun or live without electricity for a weekend and then monitor how we feel. We can make the choice to eat the foods of the seasons and to seek fresher, locally grown, or organic produce whose own cycles have not been tampered with by technology.
We can create harmony in our homes by making a smooth transition between our indoor and outdoor spaces. By bringing some of the outdoors inside and taking some of our indoor décor out, we can simultaneously enjoy nature and the comforts of home and the feeling that our living space is expanded. Then, whether inside or out, we can lounge on a comfortable piece of furniture and feel the wind, inhale the scent of deeply breathing plants, listen for the many songs of life, and observe the moon and the stars. As we do this more often, we may find ourselves noticing the pull of the full moon on bodies of water, as well as the water in bodies, or the music of the night acting as a lullaby.
When we seek balance in our lives, we want to balance not just our roles in life but also the natural elements in our spaces. Having representations of the elements in the colors, shapes, and textures of our homes will appeal to our mind, body, and spirit. We may find that when we sync ourselves with nature’s rhythms, we ride the waves of energy to feel more in harmony with life and the world around us. AMEN!

Good afternoon in Florida. Here is to a nice three day weekend just being calm.
What is for dinner today? I know you could use a breather on this day.
How is the new baby boy doing? Leaves are still beckoning hubby and I to finish.
I still have a couple of mums to plant. I am making a meatloaf with all the trimmings.
I may make a small dessert not sure what.
Charlie spent the night at his home I think his parents are a wee bit jelly because he wants
to stay with me and hubby. Charlie will always come back to me. I missed him this morning.
Xango in all fairness it is their cat but they are not looking out for him the way I do. This cat
has been coming to visit me for over ten years this did not start lately he just wants to stay
in my house where it is peace and quiet. Oh they have two large dogs and Charlie may not
like the noise. Just saying. When he shows up at my door again I am still going to take care of him.
