Conversation – 17
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 17 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 8 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Hello Sheba, how is your Friday going?
The past few days has been cloudy. Today we had sunshine, but it’s very windy.
I think you asked me if we get kids in our neighborhood for Halloween. Oh yes we do, lots and lots. We had many last year, I believe some come into our neighborhood from other areas. This year we will most likely have lots of kids. Our community always celebrates on the 31st, and this year is on a Monday.
I made a tomato sauce for hubby to have with his red lentils pasta today. Pasta and veggies for his dinner.
For me, I felt of making a Brazilian dish, potatoes balls stuffed with chicken.
Boiled potatoes, mashed add your favorite seasonings, I added salt, spring onions, Italian parsley, one small egg and some all purpose flour. Placed in the refrigerator to get firm and then make a ball or oval shape stuffed with whatever you may enjoy. Flour it dip in egg, then breadcrumbs you can fry it or oven bake.
It’s really good to make small versions of it for a party, like New Years, or watching a game.
See you in Trivia tonight, I hope we have a game.

Being Receptive To What You Want
In a world of harshness, it is time to soften and expand how we go about our life.
In order to get what we want in life, we have to be willing to receive it when it appears, and in order to do that, we have to be open. Often we go through life with defenses we developed early on. These act as barriers, walls we needed at one time to feel safe but that now serve to shut out desired influences, like intimacy or love. So an essential part of being receptive to what we want is to soften these barriers enough to let those things in when they show up. For example, we may spend a lot of time alone as a way to protect ourselves from being hurt by other people, but this prevents us from meeting new friends.
Another obstacle to our receptivity can be our tendency to believe that we have to act aggressively in order to achieve our desired goal. These types of beliefs can give us tunnel vision, so we fail to see, and be open to, other opportunities. But becoming receptive often involves softening our defenses and a willingness to remain open to possibilities outside our immediate realm of vision.
If we are looking for love or friendship, it means first looking within ourselves to see where we are shut down and not getting too fixated on where we might find the love we want. In this way, we become more open as individuals and more expansive in terms of what we see as possible.

A Wolfgang Puck French Toast Recipe That’s Perfect for a Lazy Weekend
We’ve been trying our hand at new, fun, flavorful recipes, and I was SO excited to check out this Wolfgang Puck cookbook, because it’s full of all of that. Good food without leaving you feeling guilty!
A favorite around our house, and especially when there’s a holiday weekend, is a slow breakfast around the table together! We all love different things, from eggs and bacon, to biscuits and gravy and more, but one thing everyone gets excited about is a good French Toast.
I knew that I had to try this one from Wolfgang Puck’s cookbook. With egg whites and low- ermilk in the mixture, there is fat cut out without sacrificing flavor. And the compote replaces an over-sugared syrup. Definitely a family-favorite I can feel good about.
Another cool factor point about the new Wolfgang Puck Make It Healthy cookbook, it’s also filled with a slew of healthy eating tips AND workouts to take a healthy family lifestyle up to the next level!
Make sure to check it out, but also, make sure to try this French toast recipe!!
Ingredients:
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 large egg whites
2 cups buttermilk
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp kosher salt
8 slices good-quality bread
Fresh Berry Compote:
3/4 cup fresh blueberries
3/4 cup fresh raspberries
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp grated orange zest
3 ounces fresh orange juice
Pinch of kosher salt
Instructions:
1. In a large wide bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg whites, buttermilk, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt.
2. Over medium heat, heat a heavy non-stick skillet, or a pair of skillets with non-stick cooking spray. Add the soaked bread pieces and cook until golden brown on both sides, 5 to 7 minutes total.
3. Meanwhile, prepare the Fresh Berry Compote: In a nonreactive saucepan, combine the blueberries, raspberries, honey, orange zest, orange juice and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and continue simmering just until the berries have given up some of their juices and have turned slightly syrupy, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to a serving bowl and keep warm.
4. Assemble the dish: Arrange 2 slices of the French toast on each of four heated serving plates. Spoon some of the compote over each serving.
5. If you like, spoon a little confectioners’ sugar into a small, fine-mesh sieve held over each plate and tap sieve lightly to dust the French toast; then, garnish with fresh berries.
6. Serve immediately, passing more Fresh Berry Compote at the table.
