Conversation – 16
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

The Sound of Silence
Song by Simon & GarfunkelHello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
“Fools” said I, “You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence” -
I Am a Rock
Song by Simon & GarfunkelA winter’s day
In a deep and dark December
I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow
I am a rock
I am an island
I’ve built walls
A fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain
It’s laughter and it’s loving I disdain
I am a rock
I am an island
Don’t talk of love
Well I’ve heard the word before
It’s sleeping in my memory
I won’t disturb the slumber of feelings that have died
If I never loved I never would have cried
I am a rock
I am an island
I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me
I am a rock
I am an island
And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries -
Mrs Robinson
Song by Simon & GarfunkelAnd here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
We’d like to know a little bit about you for our files
We’d like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home
And here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Hide it in the hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It’s a little secret just the Robinson’s affair
Most of all you’ve got to hide it from the kids
Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates’ debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you’ve got to choose
Every way you look at this you lose
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Woo, woo, woo
What’s that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
Jolting Joe has left and gone away
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey -

So far have not found the paperwork that I need by the middle of January. Not sure if it’s my fault or hubby’s. Right now I am blaming myself. Suffice to say it has to be somewhere in the house and not up North. I decided to pull apart everything AGAIN. It’s the only way to cross out where it isn’t. The Master Bedroom is a good starting point since it was in this room just a few months ago. Besides, I need to finish the job I started.
The Florida beach picture is one of the reasons why I like this State. The beaches in New England, (at least the ones we frequent) do not have walking room. There is very little sand between it and the ocean. The walking is probably equivalent to no more than two blocks before you end up at a road or parking lot. Other times you have “no trespassing” signs: meaning you are entering private property. In our area the sandy beach is like a three lane highway or better. Many joggers and slow walkers (me) can take advantage of this and yes, even go shell collecting at the same time. I haven’t done this in quite a while. I think you can well understand why. Same goes for indoor and outdoor dining. Not sure in Florida if the restaurant help are following the suggestions by the CDC. Not sure if anyone in the kitchen are wearing masks.
Well, that’s it for now. Tomorrow is a brief shopping day for eggs and milk. Guess we will go to Aldi’s. May stop at the Farmer’s Market. They have a sale on Halibut at $5.99/lb. Caught wild. They are not farm fed, nor are they frozen. YUM…….
Florida is warm today. No heat needed. Weekend is the question mark. Another cold front may be here. I’ll enjoy the week.

The worse part of this pandemic is not knowing what works. It’s a matter of using your sixth sense to determine what to do. My husband’s cough sounded like a fog horn and I am not exaggerating. My cough was similar to having a sinus attack. I eventually had laryngitis that lasted quite awhile. Hubby was concerned, but after my voice returned I started speaking incessantly. There was no happy medium. Also there may be side effects when this is over. Hubby’s, I am sure is dementia, that seems to be better, though there are times he will take a few steps back. Others have had mental and psychological issues. After I felt better I ordered a couple of Immune vitamins from Andrew Lessman. I think they are helping. Just make sure hubby is walking and eating something. He needs to keep his strength up. For the fever I used Excedrin, but you can use whatever you have in the house that can keep the fever from going higher. There were times I felt wonderful only to find that I had a 102.4 fever. Funny, I didn’t feel sick. We thought the thermometer had died, but listening to CNN found it was a normal thing. But watch it nevertheless. Cells are great for communicating. Instead of ringing a bell, he can ring you on cell. Make sure you give him wipes for the cell.

Doing my best to keep all in order. I will take all the prayers you can give. My mom, who has a direct route to heaven, is saying rosaries. I know this will take some time, just hoping it doesn’t get worse. Other than being tired mentally, I am hanging in. All you ladies are wonderful.

Oodie, thank you, you are an angel with all your advice. My sister is calling every day and she will pick up anything I need and leave it on my porch and so will my neighbors so I have that covered. I relayed all your experience with this to hubby and he shook his head. I just don’t want him to get worse, trying to stay out of the hospital. Yes, he has the chills, temp back and forth, some joints hurt and he does get diarrhea. I have a 409 spray that is just like the Lysol and I also have clorox wipes. I told him not to be a martyr and if he thinks he needs the hospital we will get him there. Ironically, my neighbor across the street called to say he saw an ambulance at my next door neighbor’s early this morning so not sure yet what happened. Just trying to take care of my house. What a way to end this year.

If you need food in the house most markets have a delivery service. Believe it or not, Aldi’s delivers as well. Ok, Walmart has delivery, but be aware that not all things are. Most have pickup. I found Target to be pretty good with same day delivery. If you order a certain amount it’s free. Their delivery is the same day within a couple of hours or by the next day depending upon what time you ordered. .
I know you are scared out of your mind. Just relax and we will get through this together. I just remembered one other thing. On the cruise I brought Lysol spray and would spray our room and bathroom several times per day. Just give the spray to hubby and let him do it every so often. You should not, under any circumstances be in the same room with him, even for a second. This virus is extremely catchy. Also, you should notify anyone you and hubby came in contact with within the last 10 days to two weeks. Please be well and please stay safe.

Acknowledging Your Growth
Evolution of your soul is a natural fact of life and becomes a potent motivational force when celebrated.
Since personal evolution is most often a slow and gradual process, it can be difficult to recognize the scope of the changes taking place in our lives. Yet it is important that we regularly acknowledge our ongoing growth and reward ourselves for the many wonderful feats of self-improvement we have accomplished. When we intentionally contemplate our progress, we need never feel that we are languishing between past achievements and the realization of future goals. If we look closely at our lives, we may see that much of what brings us pleasure in the present is representative of the ambitions of our past that we worked so hard to attain. At one time, the abundance we enjoy currently likely seemed like a far-off dream. Now it is simply reality — a reality we created through our diligence, passion, and unflagging determination. Whether our progress is fast or slow, we deserve to congratulate ourselves for our successes.
To remind yourself of the insights you have gained with time, temporarily adopt an outsider’s perspective and carefully consider how your life in the present differs from the range of experiences you lived through in the past. Creating a written list, in a journal or otherwise, of those strengths, aptitudes, and inner qualities you now attribute to yourself can help you accept that you are not the same person you were one year ago, five years ago, or 10 years ago. Your attitudes, opinions, and values were likely markedly different, and these differences can be ascribed to your willingness to accept that you still have much to learn. If you have difficulty giving yourself credit for these changes, think about the goals you realized, the lives you touched, the wisdom you acquired, and the level of enlightenment you attained over the past years.
Recognizing growth is neither boastful nor immodest. Evolution is a natural fact of life and becomes a potent motivational force when celebrated. Knowing that you are brighter, stronger, and more grounded than you once were, you can look forward to the changes to come. In acknowledging your growth, you build a sturdy foundation upon which you can continue to blossom well into the future. 😎
